Information on the Chevaliers is publically available, as their members recruit actively. In addition, booklets are passed through the citizenry. The Chevaliers are adamant that they are not a knighthood, instead claiming to be an order dedicated to honor.

The group has no holdings yet, and does not seek any until they have sufficient men to justify one. The current Marshall of the Chevaliers is Jeremiah de Valletta (Megazero34. That means dont bloody message Semperosa), who may be contacted for any questions relating to the order.

Contacting the Order

The Chevaliers can be contacted by sending a letter to Jeremiah De Valletta (Megazero34 in the server)

The Chevalier Principles

Honor - Chevaliers are expected to act with honor, no matter the circumstance. This is at the core of the Code.

Valor - In the face of danger, Chevaliers are to show courage and perseverance. When presented with a task, they must let no obstacle stop them.

Loyalty - The Chevalier is loyal above all to their Ordre and their Ideals. They respect those who have achieved higher rank than them in their Ordre, and their realm, and obey them to the fullest extent. Chevaliers are expected to cooperate with all honorable requests.

Honesty - A true Chevalier will never utter a lie, and to do so is the height of dishonor. They seek always to tell the truth, and avoid half-truths. They speak their mind when asked but hold their tongue when they must.

Generosity - Chevaliers do not dwell on earthly pleasures and wealth. While no oath of poverty is required, they attach little value to possessions, instead preferring to live their lives with honor.

Refinement - A Chevalier is discreet and well-spoken in all of his conversations. He does not use excessive profanity, nor does he spill secrets that he is entrusted with.

Wisdom - Chevaliers seek to apply wisdom to all of their interactions, thinking of what they say before they say it and keeping moral high ground at all times.

Justice - The Chevalier aims to promote justice everywhere he goes, seeking to end petty rivalries and protect the weak from oppression.

Code of Honor

  • A Chevalier will respect the Creator and his Church.
  • A Chevalier will serve their Ordre honorably.
  • A Chevalier will protect the weak from harm.
  • A Chevalier will not seek to give offense without cause.
  • A Chevalier will live with honor.
  • A Chevalier will obey honorable authority.
  • A Chevalier will guard the honor of their fellows.

Structure (Ranks)

Marshall de Chevaliers - The leader of the Chevaliers, appointed by the Patriarch of House De Valletta. The Marshall is the head of the Order in all affairs, and has final say. He can be overridden by the Head of House Valletta, but the policy of the House is generally Laissez Faire towards the Chevaliers.

Commandant - The lead Chevalier in a Geographical De Jure Kingdom or Realm. Acting Commandants can be appointed in extreme cases where De Jure lands are split in an extraordinary way. Commandants are the only position in the Order which is geographically based.

Capitaine – An officer of high rank in the Ordre des Chevaliers. Not assigned to any particular region or purpose, but can be deployed where necessary and in ways the Commandant sees fit

Aspirant - A Chevalier who has demonstrated admirable ability in leadership and has been promoted to the junior-officer rank. Aspirants are Chevaliers who are on the path to a higher position, and have significant authority.

Soldat - The lowest Chevalier rank is still treated with respect, as any who have demonstrated a wish to lead a life of honor are worthy of it.

Allegiance and Fealty specifics

The Chevaliers are a group who were formed by the family De Valletta, and they are sworn in fealty to the House. Children of the De Valletta are sent to the Chevaliers to learn honor and respect, and the two groups are closely tied together. Members of the House who are not of the Chevaliers are instructed not to interfere with the order, with the exception of the Head of the House. When a Chevalier pledges the oath, they are pledging themselves foremost to the principles of the order. Because of this, Chevaliers who are pledged to other feudal lords have been known to exist, though it is rare and must be looked at by an officer.

Honorary Titles & Merit Awards

Paladin - The Highest honor that can be conferred upon a Chevalier. It represents an outstanding achievement that is legendary within the Order.

War Cross - An honor bestowed upon those wounded gravely while fighting for the honor of the Chevaliers.

Culture Information (Auvergnian)

The Chevaliers are an Order which embraces the culture of Auvergne. A majority of it's members are originally not of this culture, but through their experiences with the Order they grow to embrace it slowly. The romantic principles put forward by the Chevaliers are a product of Auvergnians respect for justice and honor.

The group's officers are strongly encouraged to embrace the identity, though it does not impact their promotions per se. From the minute the brutal training of recruits begins, the cultural aspects are drummed into them. The scholarly portions of the training focus almost exclusively on Auvergnian epics and tales, as well as works from Auvergnian professors.

Noble Chapters

As the primary goal of the Chevaliers is to spread honor, the order allows influential Noble Houses to request that a chapter of the order serve as their personal guard, similar to bannermen. The Chevaliers would owe fealty to their Order, but also to their noble house as guardians and protectors. It is understood that they will only obey honorable requests, as their principles are strict.

The Chevaliers serving under a Noble Chapter would be provided room, board, and armed by their noble house. In return the House can expect to be defended with all the training, honor, and chivalry of the Chevaliers. In addition, reinforcements can be requested by the Capitaine of the Chapter.

The reasons that the Chevaliers extend such an offer are many. They wish to spread honor to the lands, and they wish to extend the hand of friendship to members of society. In addition, one of their stated goals is to protect, and they are better able to protect the noble house, their serfs, and their vassals, as guards.

In order to request such a chapter, the holder of a title should contact the Marshal of the Chevaliers to discuss terms.

The signature of the Patriarch of House Valletta, Adam de Valletta (Semperosa), is affixed to all booklets passed through the realm. In addition, the Marshal of the Chevaliers, Jeremiah (Megazero34), has signed below.
