Helios was born to a blacksmith heartlander family in the kingdom of Carolustadt. The kingdom he lived in was fairly modernized and well educated, making Helios at least average intelligence. Helios follows the church of the canon and may be prone to judge nonbelievers. Helios was named due to his hair, his mother saying it shimmered in the light like the sun. Helios’s hair is white due to a birth defect that causes his hair to have no pigment. Helios aspired to be a knight but was stuck helping his father around the forge through most of his adolescence. Helios trained with the swords he forged, in part to test how sharp and sturdy they were, but also in hopes he would one day reach his dream of becoming a knight. Helios did eventually train under a knight, a man he met during delivery of a chest plate. Helios stood up for the knight’s daughter when she was being mocked and pushed around by a man in the market. Later the man and some friends began beating on Helios when the knight stopped them after his daughter noticed what was happening and told her father of Helios. After that encounter, the knight would try to train Helios to follow his dream and eventually wed his daughter. One day, while training, Helios, his lover, and his knight mentor were attacked by orcs. Helios was the only survivor and later blamed for the murders. Helios heard of these false accusations and fled to Arcas before he was caught. Helios fled 14 years ago and now lies in Arcas for a fresh start, looking to work as a blacksmith.
