Caligula Pipelock descends from barkeep Glorantho Pipelock and historian Maybelle Springroot – both of Dunshire-- bonded by some drunken fascination on Halfling emigration from Dunwood. By the time of 1615, Maybelle took an interest to the dissolution of the Undead’s invasion of the West, leaving her family to engage once more in adventure with ink and paper readily in hand, apparently to document the witnesses of the Shadow for some abstract purpose. Glorantho hopes she’ll return one day.
With the absence of a motherly figure and the busyness of a father figure, the half of a halfling Pipelock became vested in the passerby of the Drunken Duck Tavern, from the fading, fantastical Imperial glories of Third Atlas Coalition War veterans, to the inebriated arguments of truth proclaiming the Church of Canon, and the occasional bard’s peddling of romantic legends in trade of the feeling of mina in his hands.
By the late 1600s, the little Pipelock had packed up his belongings and left his homestead by the tail end of the next caravan, scarcely missed by his father Glorantho, taken to the depressingly debilitating belief that his sweetheart had in some way lost her life out there somewhere. The little Pipelock is driven to be a witness of atleast one great event before he goes back to the tranquility of Dunshire. There is always time to sit back and watch the sun rise with a pipe to his lip, but there is only one chance to witness a moment of change.
