Buragul’s nearby family consists of only himself; the rest have died or moved away. When he was a young little dwarf, he had a younger brother, Quradul, who was only 2 years younger than Buragul. Their mother, Buragul really doesn’t know much about. Only that she was extremely good at cooking, and made the best cooked porkchop ever seen in the family. In fact, her side of the family tree had a few good cooks. His father, on the other hand, was a redstone expert. Well, as much of an expert as an old cavern dwarf could be. Quradul didn’t really look up to his big brother, as arguably it would be good for a little brother to do. Maybe because they didn’t really have the best relationship two brothers could have, since they were constantly fighting over their mother’s attention. She was a loving mother, but two siblings fighting all the time just drove her crazy. She decided to move away from the family, to live with her own childhood friends. And for this reason, Buragul’s and her connection is rather lacking, still to this day. And because of this, his father was more than happy to bond a close relation with his son. Quradul later moved to live with their mother, which gave them even more reason for a father-son connection. One day, when Buragul was about 7, the family attended a funeral. He can’t really remember whose it was, just that his mother was in great grief. Her brother, on the other hand, Buragul recall’s to have told her things such as “quit whining” and “ooh shut ye mouth already”. For this reason, Buragul has a strong feeling that it was his uncle’s friend’s funeral. Later that night, Buragul was home with Quradul and that very uncle, the parents had gone “attending business” somewhere. This old man had taken quite a few pints, and was on the verge of blacking out. Something had triggered his emotional side, and he started preaching about some war he had been in. The story consisted pretty much of many people tried to overthrow leaders and kings and some heated battles between the participants. His speech was quite incoherent, with all the ale and also the dwarven accent. He started talking something about the horrible events the war had had, and all the tension between nations, and how you never knew what would come next. One name that stood out the most was the Battle of the Sands. Battle of the sands. BATTLE OFF THE SANDS! He kept yelling the name, and it’s probably imprinted forever in the brothers’ minds. Now, this family has a reputation of being the stubborn, overexaggereting and selfish kind, especially the men. Even for dwarves, this was pretty extreme. So, this whole war thing might’ve been just some overdramatic storytelling by the uncle. Afterall, dwarves are known for their high interest in combat. Anyway, I digress. This story, and especially the way it was told, left a pretty permanent mark on Buragul, and he has not been the same since. His uncle was quite aggressive towards the two brothers, and they were just helpless. I know this sounds a bit dramatic, but it really was in the heat of the moment. This event ultimately lead to Buragul having quite an introverted personality, and being quite sceptical of people. As I said, since his mother moved away, Buragul has been having a good time with his father. They’ve experienced all kinds of things as a family of two. But eventually, his father had to move too. This was because of some stuff related to his job; there was a big project that needed a little help from him. And by little I mean big enough that Buragul had to live on his own from now on. So, he did what every young dwarf would: found a nice little hidey-hole to spend his life in. And that would be the same place he had been living thus far his whole life. He would go out seldom to acquire food and supplies, but apart from that, he pretty much adopted a hermit’s lifestyle. Buragul’s only childhood friend Bharril came to visit one day. He asked Buragul: “Why don’t ye come visit me ‘ome some day. Ye don’t seem to do much else ‘ere.” Conversation sparked about him completely moving to Bharril’s place (for he had been living in his parents’ home, which, wasn’t really their home anymore). They agreed on a date and so Buragul began to pack his things. Weeks go by and Buragul is now settled in his new home. He had now officially become a citizen of Arcas. The moving went surprisingly well. Probably because Buragul wanted to move quickly, so he made sure to get it all right the first time. See, he was really excited to see some new land. He had been living in the same place since, well, forever. Oh, also, there was some elections being held for the position of the Under-King of the Under-Realm of Urguan. First he though: “ ‘Ey I would make a great king right? ”. Then he thought of it a bit more and realized that he can’t even invite a person to a pint without anxiety kicking into full gear. So, he forgot about it, and soon found out that the king had been elected. Atandt Irongrinder was his name. War had escalated between humans, and the dwarves remained neutral to both opposing sides. This was really quite confusing to Buragul, since he was under the impression that dwarves wouldn’t back out from a fight. Just goes to show that Buragul wouldn’t make the best King. Though, he was still pleased that he didn’t have to go fighting. Later he found out that his brother had died in a mining accident. He got rocks and rubble rolling over him. The day he found out was of course a sad one for Buragul, but he didn’t go to the funeral. He just didn’t really care. Also his “roommate”, or host rather, Bharril, had to go take care of his grandpa. He too had been in an accident and was now tied to the bed, and naturally needed some help. So, now Buragul was now living alone, in a new land, with no one to guide him. Sounds like could be fun.
