Born in 1631 in the Dominion of Malin to a family of great wealth, Meryn’s parents- Arathorn and Sharian- had high expectations for him. Being that his family were high elves that valued racial purity, they wished for him to marry another high elf. Meryn did not look fondly on his parents’ view of the world and other races, and fled with a female wood elf (named Kaccirin) to live amongst her and her family in Laureh'lin. There he learned about and established his connection to nature. He also became very skilled at hunting and using a bow. When Meryn was not out hunting, he and his newly found wife created art, making elaborate wooden sculptures. Although living peaceful, unchallenged lives, a high-ranking wood elf of Kaccirin’s family became jealous of her relationship, and banished Meryn. Kaccirin would then leave her family to live with Meryn in another forest region of Laureh'lin. There she would become greatly ill, and eventually die in Meryn’s arms. Meryn, upon meditating on his lover’s death, decided to leave Laureh'lin and sail to Arcas to start a new life.
