Born in Sutica to a his father, Lurkic Flameforge II, a mediocre smith that had made his living making small metal parts for the ships of Sutica. Dünken’s mother had died while giving birth to what would be Dünken’s sister who passed as well during the process. This led Lurkic Flameforge to a life of regret and sorrow. The Flameforge name was once an iconic name in Arcas known for their exemplary work on the weapons during the founding of the coastal city. Dünken Flameforge lived the life of a noble during his childhood as his family name alone got him access to premier education and training within the city. Lurkic Flameforge wanted his son to be renew the family name and take up the mantle of being the finest smith within the city. Dünken on the other hand hated smithing. Dünken while being extremely talented, was drilled into by his father at a young age that if he wasn’t the best at this craft then he would have no purpose. Dünken eventually finished schooling and his apprentice work with the local smiths and thought that his life of confinement within the walls of Sutica would soon be over. The constant belittling from his father about his work and the teachings of Canonism, that would do nothing but bore him to no end. When he made it home one evening he found that city guards were dragging his father from the house. He would be told that his father, Lurkic, had amassed a lump sum of debts to the city by not paying taxes. Jakob’s father screamed and kicked as he was dragged out the door but Dünken’s brother Jakob felt no emotion. Jakob asked the city treasury and how much would be needed to pay off the debt and the city guards only answer was the house that he lived in. As the only way of payment for the debt he accepted as his father had no money and would serve a shorter jail sentence. This would come to be meaningless as his father would die to illness in jail. Now with nowhere left to go Dünken and his brother Jakob only had one thing to do. Move away and take up the only thing they know how to do. Blacksmithing. After this event Dünken and Jakob got separated and went to do their own thing. Dünken decided to Persue smithing but after four failed shops in Sutica he decided to move to the village south. He then similarly Became what his dad was. The only business he could make was the hinges of the doors of the village. Broken and poor he had nothing to make up his misguided life. Dünken only had the picture of the city that his brother Jakob and him dreamed to go. Helena. Dünken decided then to take a risk. He took a loan off of a shady lad named Finking Arenberg. With this loan dünken tried to set up another blacksmith in this small village. Two years after his father was dragged from the Flameforge estate, Dünken finally hit rock bottom. His blacksmith failed yet again, only this time he had a loan that he couldn’t pay back. Finking Arenberg showed up demanding that he receives his payment. Dünken not being able to pay begged for forgiveness and promises that when he can he will. Finking did not accept this and said that Dünken only had one week to pay another payment. After one week of Dünken working hard, failed in receiving the money owed. Once Finking showed up Dünken dropped to his knees and again begged for his forgiveness. However there was no forgiveness. In order to pay him back Dünken had to give up everything he owned with the exception of the clothes on his back. With nowhere else to go for the second time in his life. Dünken decided to go to Helena out of desperation in hope that they would let him in, and maybe let him work for a smith. However on his his journey to Helena he ran into his brother Jakob. Both realizing they had nothing they decide to stray from sadness and misery and go on a new adventure. The city.
