Raised by farmers in Sutica, he worked hard as an only child, working the land, building his strength and leading to his athletic build. He hasn’t dealt too much with others his age, mostly the older farm-hands his father could afford. They learned to deal with his unique style of interaction, and as a result he’s mostly forgotten that he can be misunderstood from time to time.
While his parents were never wealthy, due to the good economy of Sutica and its environment devoid of taxes, they were able to set themselves up fairly well. Declan has enjoyed nearly all the comforts that can be offered. He began to frequent the libraries more and more as he entered his teenage years, and as his knowledge of the world has grown, so has his feeling of restlessness. His wish since age sixteen has been to find a somewhat steady job to save money in order to afford an adventure into lands unknown to him.
He has not had an opportunities to make friends, and as a result tends to keep to himself. He has longed for a group to spend time with, and find his niche. As a result, he can try too hard to make that happen, and alienate the few that make an effort to get to know the nineteen year old. He has resolved to find a friend or two to accompany him before he sets out on what he thinks will be a very merry adventure.
