I am an 18 year old halfling. The people who I call my parents raised me in a village far out west and south. You probably haven’t heard of it. It was a wonderful and peaceful village, and still is. My parents are farmers, and I their only child. I grew up helping on the farm, and although I did much busy work on the farm, and am not against such tedious work, I am not particularly big or strong. I was educated with the other kids in my village, by a few elders who have knowledge from one of the large eastern cities. I can speak common, but cannot read or write very well save some important words and phrases for the farm. I do believe that I am quite eloquent however, and am having my father write this to you for me. He does not think it is necessary for me to learn to read, and I agree. I am good at numbers, and can do some simple adding and subtracting in my head. I’m not so great at making friends, which is part of why my parents wish for me to come to Sutica. They want me to open up more, and find myself outside of our little village. When I turned 18 a few months ago, they got a boat for me to travel across the southern waters to Sutica. The journey was tough, but the captain of the ship was very good, and he got us here safely. He even turned out to be rather nice, once I finally gathered the courage to speak to him a few days into the journey. I have some food and water to keep me for a bit, as well as some money that my parents gave me. I hope to find someone who can help me send letters to my parents every few weeks to let them know how I am doing. I hope to find simple work for the numerous trading ships that travel through Sutica. While I have not often been on the water, I can do much work on land. I am now waiting outside the Free State of Sutica, hoping you will let me in!
