Adger was born the oldest of three children on a small farm in The Holy Orenian Empire. Adger’s father, Austine, was a retired soldier of the Empire’s army after receiving a debilitating injury to his sword arm. Austine was granted land for not deserting his kingdom when the forces became overwhelming despite being unable to fight one on one due to his injury. Growing up Adger was taught everything he needed to know to run the farm in the absence of his father when he went to the city to trade the family’s crop and livestock. Adger rarely was able to go with his father because he had to watch over his mother Abigail and two younger siblings, Adria and Augum, who were twins. Living on the farm Adger’s education was limited to the few books that his family had kept or inherited through the years but he was an eager learner and was very curious of the world outside the walls of the Burbridge abode. His father taught him a few tricks with the sword when the rare occasion of spare time presented itself. Adger was no swordsman but his strength and natural athleticism showed promise and his father often commented that he should join the guard once Adria and Augum grew older. One day Adger went on a hunting trip by the request of his father who was getting too old to keep up with son. Adger returned after a successful hunt to plume of smoke where his family’s farm once stood. He found his father dead outside the farmhouse, sword still clutched in his hand, two arrows protruding from his chest and a note laying near by that read “All debts must be paid Tiny.” In the ashes of the farmhouse he found his mother embracing his innocent 12 year old twin siblings. Adger buried his family next to each other under a large oak tree near their house’s remains. For a month a he grieved and pondered who would his father owe money to and how much money for it to have cost his entire family? Adger sank into depression he drank any bottles of liquor he could find and slept under the ruins of his old home. Until one day he was examining the note he found the day his family died. He realized that in the note his father was addressed as Tiny, a nickname only his close friends in the military knew. Whoever Adger’s father owed used to be a close friend which also meant they murdered his entire family for money or whatever, it didn’t matter to Adger. Fueled by rage and revenge he packed his father’s sword and his hunting bow and set off towards the nearest city. His only other lead was a story of a bandit group his father spoke about fighting alongside with during the war. If Adger remembered correctly they are known as the Reivers.
