Having been raised by a single parent, a ranger no less, on the island of Skjoldier, he has come to be fond of isolation in nature. An only child but for a stillborn brother, Brom was raised by his father, Bjorn and what few rangers may accompany them in their hunts from time to time. Bjorn was a quiet and bitter man, once having been apart of a great hunt to try and reclaim some of the North-Eastern lands of the Witch’s domain, whatever had occurred had broken him in a way time could quite possibly never help though Brom never dared ask why. Following that and the birth of Brom the pair never stayed in any single place for longer than a few months in all his twenty years of life, constantly moving throughout the land, from small hamlet and back into the wilderness.
He was taught to not ask questions, to be silent and watchful, and ever cautious of anything that should move; especially people. Following Bjorn and hunting the creatures of the wild, keeping the small villages safe had become his life and he wanted nothing more, for it was all he knew. After losing his father at the age of fourteen Brom continued his fathers work of tracking and bringing low these monsters controlled by the Witch.
Over time, becoming more bitter any hope he once had of escaping this life becomes more diminished his anger grows towards those who hide in their towns and give no aid to the few rangers still in the wild. He has become accustomed to avoiding the villages and hamlets wherever possible, being scorned by the people, surviving in the wild alone seems the only way forward lest he should find a way to leave one day. However, the odds of ever leaving are smaller each year as fewer rangers remain and none live long enough to fill the ranks. The guardsmen and rangers of the cities and towns scarcely ever leave their walls but to fend off attacks from monsters and witchery, with that the burden grows heavier as the borders draw closer each year with fewer willing to guard whats left and fight the eternal struggle against the Witch.
