Dakath was born among the snow elves, but was quite the scandal. His mother came from Princedom of Fenn, but his father was a Wood Elf from the Realm of Irrinor. They were not married. He wears his mother’s scandal on his head, given his red/gold hair coloring isn’t native to the Snow Elves. This didn’t stop or hamper his mother’s fierce pride, and as she discussed their victories in past wars, though one stood out for a small number of reasons: Iblees’ War. Not meerly because it was the first major war of recorded history, but because it has brought the inevitable end of the High Elves, as they will eventually die out without fertility. This piqued Dakath’s interest, and he learned all he could of Iblees with the books at his disposal, which was disappointingly few.
What this moved to solidify was a strong belief that all knowledge should be available to everyone, and an increasing frustration in the limits the High Elves placed upon the knowledge they held, allowed the other elves to collect, and the people they allowed to access it. It also led him to believe that this knowledge was being restricted for a reason. That Iblees may return, or that another entity even stronger and older was approaching, and the High Elves were hoarding that knowledge for themselves.
Dakath is looking to build his magic knowledge, and restore honor to his family. The Helmo’or name had fallen in the eye of the elves long before Dakath was born, and his mother’s pride and desire to see the Helmo’or name be restored has rubbed off on him. Sometimes, as he drifts to sleep, he toys with the fantasy of one day aligning himself with a daemon or strong magic user to utilize that position of power to uplift glory to the family name. (If you dig alignment stuff, he’s got some Chaotic Neutral energy vibing off him)
