Valindr was born and grew up in a small Adunian village where his family lived a simple life. Living on the outskirts of town Valindr had few friends, whom he was extremely loyal to. They played in the surrounding wilderness, gaining survival knowledge and a love for the natural world. He had a fair education where he learned basic skills and history. As his family had modest funds most of Valindr’s possessions composed of useless trinkets and whatever tokens he could find in the woods. Valindr’s older sister, SIgne, spun tales of the historical Bowie groups whose nomadic lifestyle and culture made them stronger and self sufficient. These stories inspired Valindr to learn more about their history and to try and learn the art of the Bowies. Being a solider, a rare position for a woman, Signe helped her brother with self defense aa well as teaching him how to use a bow. However Einar, Valindr’s father, wanted his son to focus on inheriting the family estate (as the youngest son) rather than ‘wasting his time with lost culture’ which caused much tension between the two. While Signe stayed out of the resulting disputes she encouraged Valindr to stand strong in his plans. After getting back from his rite of passage at 17, Valindr returned home to find Signe dead after being slain protecting the hamlet. Filled with grief, Valindr sought guidance from the Elder who advised him to honor his sister by traveling to learn about the Bowies. And so the next night Valindr snuck out into the crisp air ready to continue his journey. Not wanting to arouse suspicion in the town with him sneaking around Valindr planned to circumvent the hamlet by going through the woods and meeting up with the trade route leading to the port. A couple days along the lesser traveled trail he took he came upon a couple whose wagon wheel was stuck. Taught good values by his sister Valindr did not hesitate to help. Unbeknownst to him this was no ordinary couple, but two scammers who used the back trails to rob travelers. While Valindr was elbow deep in the inner wheel (trying to see the problem) one of the criminals hit him upside the head with a board, effectively knocking him out. The robbers, unable to easily get Valindr’s arm out of the wheels mechanisms just ripped it out and drove away. Valindr woke up past nightfall disoriented and with his right arm almost maimed. While he continued his journey Valindr’s trust in others was broken and now he is cautious( to the point of paranoia) around strangers.
