What magic(s) will you be teaching?

             Malchedial's Radiant Templars

Describe this magic or a creature as a whole:

Malchediael’s Radiant Templars is a [3] slot deific magic. The magic provides Templars (players who hold the magic) with various tools to enable monster-hunting and adventuring, such as strengthened attacks and non-combative abilities like the unique Brazen Bonfire (used to connect new Templars to the magic and to heal injured combatants).

Templars are encouraged to cast while in combat, though their spells are not their primary weapons. Most of their spells require participation in close combat, thus making a Templar an up-close bruiser. However, Templars should be wary not to take too much damage in combat lest they invoke the Touch of Jophiael and fall into a murderous rage.

Are there different sections or subsections of magic? Can those be elaborated upon?

The spells Templars have can broadly be considered combative abilities (spells such as Vigorous Blow, Dauntless Charge, Bulwark, etc…) and utilitarian (Blazing Aura, Enthralling Recount, Radiant Rumination, Brazen Bonfires, etc…) abilities to give them use outside of battle. Of special use are Brazen Bonfires, serving to heal Templars or to subdue the madness from the Touch of Jophiael outside of combat.

However, Templars also have a handful of unique items at their disposal. Trophies, items gained from certain slain enemies (often unique and dangerous hostile creatures) allow Templars to stun certain enemies, and Brazen Banners serve as “status effects”, changing the combat environment (Radiant Banner), assisting their allies (Indomitable Banner) or increasing the number of uses of other Templar’s spells (Valiant Templar).

Lastly, Victor's Justice serves as "disconnection" ability, allowing Templars to freely attempt to disconnect other Templars on the condition of a duel. The location of this duel may be anywhere agreed upon OOCly and the medium  is chosen by the challenged. As long as both Templar's players agree, the medium does not need to be strictly combative, but it cannot be unfair or lopsided (such as saying "close your eyes and guess the number of fingers I'm holding up," or anything of that nature.

Can you give an example of a casting emote, of a spell of your choice?

Monjaro bent down and began the process of creating a Brazen Bonfire. First, he cleared the brush and carefully drew the star of Malchediael on the dirt. He prepared some kindling and a basic campfire last.

He turned to himself, drawing upon his inner courage as he manifested Malchediael’s blessing.

The samurai held his hands out, a brilliant ball of blazing white flame pouring out into his palms.

Finally, Monjaro pushed down and allowed the pyre to catch alight, his temporary Brazen Bonfire springing to life.

Can you give an example of a teaching-emote (interacting with another) of a spell of your choice?

Mushi,” Monjaro said to his student. “It is important for an Ashigaru carrying Machiman’s blessing to be able to deflect a blow meant for his allies.”
This is called Bulwark,” he explained, drawing his katana out in front of him. “You will prepare your spirit first, focusing on your enemy. As you do this you will manifest Machiman’s fiery blessing. Do you understand?”

You will then parry the attack that comes your way,” he said. “You may hold it for a time, but not very long. After a few moments, your focus will fail. Now, you should be able to stop anything in your way,” Monjaro laughed. “Now you try it! You must think fast and be a few steps ahead to use this technique. I will prepare a strike and you must prepare your defenses.”

Monjaro drew his sword up high, waiting for Mushi to take his stance.

Mushi raised his katana in a defensive position, focusing intently on Monjaro. Malchediael’s burning flames wrapped around his sword as he looked on in anticipation.

Monjaro swung down, sword barreling towards Mushi’s own.

Schwing! Mushi activated the ability [BULWARK], negating the power of Monjaro’s strike effortlessly.

Well done, Mushi! Now, let’s take a break, eh?”

Say your student powergames during or after teaching, how do you reprimand that?

If a student powergames I will inform them of the error in their emotes and how to correctly perform the action they intended to carry out. If their error seems intentional I will remind the student that powergaming may both result in Story Team or Moderation action and ruin another person’s voluntary time on this server, and encourage them to re-emote their character’s actions appropriately.

Do you have a magic(s) you are dropping due to this app? If so, link it:

Do you agree to keep the ST updated on the status of your magic app?:

             I do.

Have you applied to teach this magic on this character before, and had it denied? If so, link the app.

             I have not.

  5. Which of the following have you enjoyed participating in the most: server lore (magics, feats, events), nation-roleplay (playing a soldier, citizen, government worker), and villainy? Which have you enjoyed the least? Obviously none of these are mutually exclusive, but players oftentimes self-separate.

@Benleft((My phone won't let me quote)) I've actually done a bit of work on a "Dire Animal" lore piece for pets/mounts/event monsters that are just an IRL animal but big. I never pursued it because I figured it would be abusable/ST would shoot it down though.

Balance and submit it… Don’t lose hope… LT are only a mental road block (review compiles are a helpful resource). You are stronger, better…

  7. Creature bloat is not a problem as-is... If there are too many lore pages, they can just be compiled into AWESOME creature compendiums.

That being said, I feel like “big, semi-obedient” ferret would not be a staple of the setting… I feel like a  “general battle animal pet” piece with VERY good (restrictive) redlines would save lore reviewers a lot of time…

    Current Holder: Walter Leon Weiss

    The Dragon’s Vow [Blessing]:

The Great Dragon’s generational gift is to anoint a single Champion. In keeping with The Dragon’s obsession with strength and nascent anti-intellectualism, the holder is unable to adopt any [Feat] or [Magic]. To do so means death. However, the Champion is blessed with increased noncombative strength and speed, though their stamina remains otherwise ordinary.

    Redlines:

✦ The Champion (MArt holder) is unable to adopt any [Magic] or [Feat], or become any kind of [Creature]. As they are pledged solely to the Dragon, posting a [Creature], [Magic], or [Feat] application of any kind would result in the immediate and permanent death of the Champion.

✦ Outside of combat the Champion’s strength is increased to that of an Orc’s. During combat, their strength is otherwise ordinary.

✦ The Great Dragon cannot pass this [MArt] on to anyone who already has an accepted [Magic], [Feat], or [Creature] application.

✦ The Great Dragon can bestow this restriction upon a child (with their OOC consent). However, this restriction will only manifest when they become 16.

✦ Once the Great Dragon has blessed a Champion, the Great Dragon is unable to recall or remove it from the Champion. However, if the Champion were to disappear (fail to log-in) for [20] in-character years, the Dragon’s blessings would become forfeit, returned to the Great Dragon.

✦ There may only be 1 holder of this [MArt] at a time. Once the holder has been Permanently Killed, the Great Dragon is able to pass this on to someone else. This requires them to update the Story-Team and edit the application with the name above.

    Dragon’s Rage [Blessing]:

By pledging their arms to the Dragon, the Champion is unchained, and blessed with bursts of unparalleled physical prowess comparable to an orc. However, holding a traditional weapon of any kind would render the Dragon’s Rage unusable.

    Redlines:

    ✦ Using Dragon’s Rage takes [3] emotes.

➼ [2] to channel Dragon’s Rage. Red mist will begin to leak off the Champion’s head, shoulders, and fists. The Champion may move up to [4] blocks per-emote during this stage. They may not take any major actions other than movement while channeling.

➼ [1] to release Dragon’s Rage. Once released, the Champion may strike, lift, or generally attack with the strength of an Orc.

➼ For [2] emotes following the use of Dragon’s Rage, the Champion’s movement may not exceed [4] blocks.

✦ Dragon’s Rage may be used twice per-encounter.

✦ Dragon’s Rage may not be used with traditional weapons such as swords, axes, and clubs. It may be used with improvised weapons such as furniture or rubble.

✦ Manifesting Dragon’s Rage is interrupted by incapacitation or moderate strikes (wounds from a blade, bolt, arrow, or handheld weapon, or unarmed strikes to the head, gut, or vital organs).

    Dragon’s Dash [Blessing]:

By pledging their legs to the Dragon, the Champion is bolstered, and blessed with the ability to dash unlike any other mere mortal.

    Redlines:

    ✦ Using Dragon’s Dash takes [3] emotes.

➼ [2] to channel Dragon’s Dash. Blue mist will begin to leak off the Champion’s head, shoulders, and feet. The Champion may move up to [4] blocks per-emote during this stage. They may not take any major actions other than movement while channeling.

➼ [1] to release Dragon’s Drash. Once released, the Champion may move up to [12] blocks in a single emote. They may not take any other actions during this emote if moving more than [8] blocks.

➼ For [2] emotes following the use of Dragon’s Dash, the Champion’s movement may not exceed [4] blocks.

✦ Dragon’s Dash may be used twice per-encounter.

✦ Manifesting Dragon’s Dash is interrupted by incapacitation or moderate strikes (wounds from a blade, bolt, arrow, or handheld weapon, or unarmed strikes to the head, gut, or vital organs).

    Dragon’s Deterioration [Curse]:

Although gifted with many blessings that uplift their strength, their power is so profound that it may become hard for the holder to live and maintain a normal lifestyle without accidentally breaking something. Further, the Dragon’s Champion’s life is placed under strict limits and scrutiny from the Dragon. Frivolous overuse of his blessings comes at the cost of the Champion's own life.

    Redlines:

✦ The Champion may aesthetically lose control of their strength to break items. This may not be used in combat, or to their advantage outside of combat. It is intended to be purely comedic. Use of this strength may be denied at Story Team discretion at any time.

✦ The Champion’s strength is so uncontrollable that it causes certain materials to break from simply holding or swinging it. This applies to tools used in roleplay such as axes or picks. The Champion is still restricted to their ordinary racial strength in combat.

➼ Salium / Salium-Coated Weapons: 2 swings (when attacking) before breaking.

➼ Aurum / Slayersteel / Anorum / Salium-Coated Lunarite: 4 swings (when attacking) before breaking.

    ➼ Ferrum / Qalashi-steel / Arcanium / Lunarite / Thanhium / Volatite: 8 swings (when attacking) before breaking.

➼ Carbarum: Due to the strength and renitency of carbarum, it does not break and seems to be an idle weapon for someone of this strength.

✦ The Champion may only live 100 years (100 OOC weeks) after they become the Dragon’s champion. Once this timespan is reduced to zero, the Champion is irreversibly PKed. This does not extend the Champion’s lifespan beyond their race’s ordinary lifespan, and they may still die of old age regardless of how many years of their blessings they may still have.

✦ Each time Dragon’s Rage or Dragon’s Dash is used, 5 years are subtracted from the Champion’s maximum lifespan. This must be reported to the Demi-Djinn. Failure to do so will result in the loss of the Dragon’s Blessings.

Fear of the Great Dragon [Curse]:

Those who come before the Great Dragon will feel indescribable and incomprehensible fear, as though they are powerless against the Demi-Djinn in question. So powerful is this sense of fear, that it might even cause them to freeze. Additionally, the Great Dragon has wound their Champion into a twisted game, signaling their presence to other holders of its blessings.

    Redlines:

✦ The Champion must always roleplay being in great fear of the Demi-Djinn who made the MArt (The Great Dragon). This applies when the holder sees the Demi-Djinn in all forms: descendant, second-form, and third-form. Please look below for the grade of fear.

➼ Descendant Form: The holder, when looking at the descendant-form of the Djinn, will feel a sudden fear - as though the person they are staring at is powerful beyond belief. They may not recognize the Great Dragon in this form, but regardless, they will feel like they should not mess or fight with them.

➼ Second-Phase Form: The holder, when looking at the second-phase form of the Djinn, will begin to feel heightened fear. The aura of the Demi-Djinn may look like two large, glaring eyes that hover down intimidating the holder, and it might even cause them to shake.

➼ Third-Phase Form: The holder will instantly freeze in fear at the sight of the Great Dragon, finding it difficult to breathe or speak.

✦ The Champion will recognize an illusory aura surrounding the bearers of other [MArt]s that feature the ability [Fear of the Great Dragon] when they are within [20] blocks of one another. Noticing this aura will make the Champion begin to feel  restless and uneasy. The Champion’s aura will appear as a gold aura to others bearing [MArt]s featuring the ability [Fear of the Great Dragon]. This aura is a hallucination of the bearers.

This MArt has been created using the Djinn MArt creation ability. This ability allows a Djinn to make any MArt should it either intermingle with their own abilities, mend their own abilities / redlines, work with another magic, mend redlines for descendant races or work with another material.

In order to achieve an equal means in the contract, the Demi-Djinn has restricted the ability for the holder to use or perceive mana without external tools to support this. Due to this, the holder is unable to hold any MA or FA (they cannot apply for any magic) nor could they have had any accepted magic before accepting this MArt. The Dragon cherishes strength above all else and wasting time to learn anything else is foolish, after all.

The Champion is blessed with two color-coded abilities. When exuding red mist they may strike with the strength of an orc, while when exuding blue mist they may move far faster than any descendant ordinarily could.

Due to the contract made between Demi-Djinn and holder, the Demi-Djinn has placed two other curses. First and foremost, the cartoonish levels of strength force the weapons to begin shatter depending on the material. Furthermore, depending on the form of the Demi-Djinn when present in front of the holder, they will feel immense levels of fear that make them feel hopeless, contrary to their strength.

Lastly, the bearer of this MArt participates in a “game” devised by The Great Dragon. The holders of MArts featuring the ability “Fear of the Great Dragon” are able to witness a unique aura emanating from one another and grow restless within one another’s presence.

    Current Holder: Walter Leon Weiss

    Heavenly Dragon Restriction [Blessing]:

The Great Dragon blesses its chosen holder with the Heavenly Dragon Restriction. With this restriction, the user gains innumerable physical benefits that surpass the normal human descendant, but locks their usage of mana and knowledge-based feats or magic. In that regard, they become someone who is unable to ever learn sorcery or the occult.

    Redlines:

✦ The holder is unable to use any magic-lore written on the forums. In this regard, they are unable to learn or post MA applications in regards to their character. If the holder attempts to go against this restriction by attempting to learn magic, their heart will instantly burst and the holder will be Permanently Killed.

✦ The holder is unable to use or learn any feat-based lore written on the forums. In this regard, they are unable to post any FA application in regards to their character, regardless of it being knowledge-based or magic-based. If the holder attempts to go against this restriction by attempting to learn a feat, their heart will instantly burst and the holder will be Permanently Killed.

✦ There can only be 1 holder of this MArt at a time. Once the holder has been Permanently Killed, the Great Dragon is able to pass this on to someone else. This requires them to update the Story-Team and edit the feat with the name above.

✦ The Great Dragon cannot pass this MArt on to anyone who already has magic. It must be someone that does not have any MA on their character.

✦ The Great Dragon cannot pass this MArt on to anyone who already has magic-based feat. It must be someone that does not have any magic-based FA on their character.

✦ The Great Dragon can pass this MArt onto someone who has a knowledge-based feat, but they will be forced to lose the feat, and their memory of the knowledge is wiped. Their FA must be denied upon accepting this MArt.

✦ The Great Dragon can bestow this restriction to a child (with their OOC consent). However, this restriction will only manifest when they become 16.

✦ Once the blessing has been made to the holder, the Great Dragon is unable to recall or remove it from the holder. They must simply wait for the holder to die until they can give it to someone else.

Strength of the Great Dragon [Blessing]:

Due to sacrificing their mana and ability to learn magics or feats, the holder’s body is unrestricted and blessed with great physical prowess comparable to an orc.

    Redlines:

✦ The holder gains the strength of an orc at peak-strength, which can be used in combat.

Speed of the Great Dragon [Blessing]:

Due to sacrificing their mana and ability to learn magics or feats, the holder’s body is unrestricted and blessed with great speed.

    Redlines:

✦ The holder gains immense speed, following the outline below which has been edited from the main LoTC combat rules for movement.

➼ You may move six blocks per emote, or eight blocks per emote whilst mounted, whenever performing an action relevant to combat. An example of an action is swinging a melee weapon, blocking a strike, aiming a ranged weapon, preparing to throw a projectile, or casting magic.

➼ You may move at the speed of a mount (ten) when your character is solely focused on sprinting and not being reasonably attacked.

➼ If the player were to move eight blocks or more in a single emote, on their next emote they would be restricted to two blocks of movement due to fatigue.

✦ When either foot or leg of the holder is injured to the point that they find it hard to run, their speed returns to that of any normal player as listed in the combat-rules.

    Deterioration [Curse]:

Although gifted with many blessings that uplift their strength in combat and outside, their strength is so profound that it may become hard for the holder to live and maintain a normal lifestyle without accidentally breaking something.

    Redlines:

✦ Outside of combat, the holder may roleplay their strength in a gimmicky fashion, such as olog-strength. Of course, this cannot be used in combat, nor can it be used to cause villainy. In this case, the holder may find that doing mundane tasks becomes a struggle. For example, breaking a plate when attempting to pick it up, or accidentally smashing a table in half when slamming their hand onto it. They might even exhibit grandiose feats of strength like trying to pull a small-tree out from its roots in a cartoonish fashion, and then exercising with it.

✦ In combat, the user is restricted to certain weapon materials; their strength is so profound, that it causes certain materials to break from simply holding or swinging it. They are still restricted to orcish strength in combat, and this is more for the roleplay-flare, but it must be followed as listed below.

➼ Salium / Salium-Coated Weapons: 2 swings (when attacking) before breaking.

➼ Aurum / Slayersteel / Anorum / Salium-Coated Lunarite: 4 swings (when attacking) before breaking.

    ➼ Ferrum / Qalashi-steel, Arcanium / Lunarite / Thanhium / Volatite: 8 swings (when attacking) before breaking.

➼ Carbarum: Due to the strength and renitency of carbarum, it does not break and seems to be an idle weapon for someone of this strength.

Fear of the Great Dragon [Curse]:

The Great Dragon has forced a curse on each holder of this restriction in any generation. Those who come before the Great Dragon will feel indescribable and incomprehensible fear, as though they are powerless against the Demi-Djinn in question. So powerful is this sense of fear, that it might even cause them to freeze.

    Redlines:

✦ The holder must always roleplay being in great fear of the Demi-Djinn who made the MArt (The Great Dragon).

Due to this, the holder is unable to learn any MA (they cannot apply for any magic) nor could they have had any accepted magic before accepting this MArt. Furthermore, the user of this MArt loses the ability to apply for any magical-based feat or knowledge-based feat - or any feat at all. If they have any accepted magical-based feats, they will not be able to accept the MArt. If they have knowledge-based feats, they will be able to accept the MArt, but will in turn lose their knowledge of the feat and will be forced to drop it.

The strength of the holder in combat is restricted to orcish strength, and their speed is increased also. However, this MArt does not provide limitless stamina and so the holder can still tire out, as witnessed when moving too quickly.

Outside of combat, the holder is able to accomplish great, cartoonish feats of strength and speed much similar to Demi-Djinn when using their imaginary realm, which can affect the normal world. This cannot be used for any sort of villainy, nor can it be used to initiate harm on other characters.

  10. Crying samurai wearing red and grey armor with a moustache, 80's anime still

"The warrior cries, into the night she calls forth: Justice prevails." Monjaro, the Poppy Samurai of Clan Honma, wrote from his over-fortified compound. Folding the haiku away he looked outside with bleary eyes. "May we all die beautiful deaths," he repeated ad-nauseum.
