He was born in the bustling metropolis of Oren, but his parents were immigrants from the Highlands, fleeing the frontier. They were very proud of the history of their people, and the Holy Orenian Empire. They were very devout believers in the Canonist faith. At a young age, his parents found a mentor that had served in the ISA to teach him, and worked quite hard to pay him, because they also wanted their son to know of history and medicine, and other things, but also to have the choice of whether or not to become a soldier.
Around the age of 14, he became fascinated by martial arts. He worked hard, and grew bigger, with the drawback of having a malformation in his talon due to high growth rates, leading to him being paralyzed for around 15 seconds whenever hit by a decent force in the left achilles tendon. Nobody really knows whether he worked for it, whether it was genetic or a combination of both that made his size. He learned many different weapons. He learned the sword the saber and the rapier recurve bow, longbow and short bow, polearms, spears and hatchets. He knew most forms of combat, melee, unarmed or otherwise, but interestingly, his specialty was a less known weapon: the tetsubo. A long and thin mace with metal bulges, but comes in a few different forms.
His parents, still fearing the violence they had seen in the HIghlands, warned him against it. They always told him that doing his best to hurt others would lead to nothing, for fear of him becoming a violent thug they could never be proud of. They drilled it so hard into his head that any time he ever got into a fight, he would never directly hit anyone. He would, however scheme to find other ways to incapacitate the enemy, by tiring them out, intimidating them, or otherwise. Aelfread is now 25 years old, and his mentor has nothing more to teach him. He now has to choose whether to find a career in the military, or maybe to pursue another path.
