May was born in the Orenian Empire. Her mother was a map maker and her father was a healer. She also had an older brother named Daren. He was five years older than her. May took after her father, preferring the quiet indoors and simple domestic pursuits. Her brother took after their mother, inheriting her thirst for adventure and exploration. When May was 13 her brother got into a bit of trouble with some friends of his. They convinced him to help them with a heist. He was gravely injured. May still remembers her father desperately trying to save him as he slowly faded away. After Daren's death, grief hit her hard. She turned to religion to cope devoting herself to Canonism. She also perused the art of medicine so that she would be better able to prevent such a tragedy in the future. She wants to be able to heal people but more importantly she wants to be able to save peoples souls so they do not find themselves in situations like her brother did.
