Nova was born in Norland, being raised by her mom and dad along with her older brother. Her family was a set of hard-workers, to them their lives meant not much without a job. With this Nova didn't make any friends or have any lovers in her youth, her parents saying that their just a waste of time. Her brother became her only friend and was someone she looked up to and admired deeply, stating multiple times she wanted to be just like him when she grew up. He ended up being the one to teach her everything she knew, spending their free time reading books together. When Nova was 10 her brother disappeared from the house, when she asked her parents what happened all they told her was, "He didn't work hard enough for this family and became unworthy". From that point on Nova became an even more reclusive child and lost her admiration for her brother for betraying the Red Faith. Her whole life became even more centered around work, refusing to take breaks, stopped reading, and was working to an unhealthy extent. Nova through this found out she had a knack for wood cutting and it became her favorite thing to do. At 14 her dad started teaching her the basics of building so she would be able to survive in the world. When she moved out at 18 she was shocked at the world around her, she went beyond her families property. A childlike joy and curiosity found her which she hasn't experienced since her brother was still with her. From that point on she vowed to try to travel anywhere but only if the opportunity came to her. She refused to let anything get in front of her work and continued to work hard, finding any odd jobs she could do to keep her busy. Most of the drive to work hard being driven by a fear of being a lazy worker and betraying her faith like her brother did.
