Agatha was born under a different name--Agevaine. At the age of seven, she decided she would instead go by "Agatha". It was a small rebellious act that would save her sanity in later years. Her parents were upper-middle class and they lived just beyond the walls of New Reza. While they would encourage Agatha to find her own path in life and preached that there was no right way to live, the moment Agatha acted out of line or suggested interest in being anything other than a hearthkeeper, they scolded her. They would simultaneously preach the importance of fitting within society. It became clear that when her parents encouraged her to "choose her own path", they meant she could choose between marrying an artisan or a tradesman.
Through adolescence she chose to excel in every area her parents deemed worthy. She rose as a promising cook and seamstress and became well-versed in appropriate Canonist literature (for the purpose of spreading Canonist teachings to future children). Agatha grew accustomed to praise and accepted her role as a one very likely to succeed as an adult. However, as she aged and her deeper nature longed to flourish, the bars of a gilded cage came into focus. She was increasingly disagreeable toward her parents from age 16 to 18 as she embraced her true self, and the tension in their home rose until she finally burst free and started her life on the road. It was the first of many burnt bridges.
From that day, Agatha would make and abandon friendships, start and quickly quit new jobs, and get herself in other troubles that she ultimately ran away from. It is an endless pursuit of something that fits, and it continues today (five years later). She hopes to create a lifestyle that suits her, or else finally find a reason to settle down.
