Provos O'Doherty was born relatively well in Kal'Varoth. It is said that he was the largest baby to be born that year and that he came into this world already bearing muscles not common in his lineage of dwarves. Growing up in a middle class dwarven household things seemed just fine, Provos went to school, trained to bear an axe and praised the Brathmordakin gods. However, while gaining in size and strength faster than his counterparts in school Provos was a quiet student who rarely sought to befriend his peers as he spent most free time reading of the gods and training with his axe as his most coveted dream was to join the Legion of Mercy and protect the land and gods. His mother Larsa worked as a mid-wife and his father Angus was a local politician whom has been accused of corruption several times. While seemingly things at home were okay, they were not quite in tact. His father and mother bickered constantly over Provos' use of his time as his father thought the gods were a useless waste of time and Provos should be trying to grow a social circle and become a politician such as himself. Provos mother supported him in his godly pursuit realizing her sons dedication to this dream and would often protect him from his fathers violent drunken rages. Around the age of 50 is when things changed for Provos, as one day he came to the announcement of his mother being pregnant once again. His mother was joyous and his father seemingly annoyed, but Provos was delighted at the thought of a sibling and couldn't wait for his mother to give birth. One morning his mother went to the local temple to bless her pregnant belly and her unborn child, she returned later to a scene that would change Provos life forever. Provos was at home that day alone reading more books about the gods when his father stumbled in drunk. Unbeknownst to Provos his father has just been relieved of his position on a council earlier that day due to his found guilt in a corruption and fraud scandal. His father burst in the door and immediately sought out Provos angerly shouting at him why his "great gods" would allow for such a bad thing to happen to him and that Provos must get his gods to fix this. Provos tried to slip his fathers grip but immediately felt the strength his father possessed that was passed down to him, as he tried to squirm he heard a key jingle into the door from the outside and as his father connected his large fist with Provos cheek he saw his mother open the door to their home. Running to Provos aid his mother was crying and screaming for his father to get out and get away from the family, but in a move that would change Provos life forever his father swiftly swung his knee into Provos mother's belly as she bent to help Provos up. The blow would end up prematurely ending the life of Provos unborn sibling and sensing his danger, his father fled the city never to return leaving Provos with one last message of "Curse you and your gods Provos." This left Provos to deal alone with his grief stricken mother and their household poor as young Provos began developing into a man. He drew closer to the gods and began training even harder with his axe as his goal of becoming a Legion of Mercy member became the sole purpose of his life. On the eve of his 60th birthday Provos made a vow to his mother that he would become a member of the Legion of Mercy and seek out and punish his father for the crimes he committed against them and the gods. This leads us to present day, where a cold and calculated Provos seeks to make his way to becoming a member of the Legion of Mercy and punishing all who betray the gods but most importantly his father.
