Born in Haelun'or to Tarathiel (an engineer) and Ayda (an art dealer), Aeson was always an inquisitive child, often getting in trouble for sneaking into places he shouldn't have been. His parents, desiring to not give their business opponents any opportunity to score leverage, educated him in private and heavily restricted his access to the world outside of their home. One night after messing around with a spellbook he had stolen, he had a dream of bright white light being snuffed out as pulsating darkness pounced out of nothingness. Fearing his vision, Aeson sought out the local mages to inquire into this experience. However, the mages were not pleased to learn of the theft, nor were they comfortable with the potentially superstitious conclusions of the dream. Aeson was ultimately declared impure and exiled from the city, with one ear cut off to forever symbolize his impurity; his mother was executed for infidelity with a non-elf. Now Aeson seeks out answers to his vision in temples and shrines across the land while trying to reconcile with his grief.
