Fennwyn was taken in and raised by a wandering seed of wood elf women, named after the icy conditions she was found in and the smile on her face when she was picked up by Asul'len who would become Fennwyn's adoptive mother in the seed. The wandering seed was very avoidant of other seeds and civilisation, and as a result Fennwyn rarely saw or met any men nor people of other races. She grew up living off the land, hunting and foraging with the other women and learning what little information she could learn of other lands, people and cultures from the other members of the seed who'd spent time among civilisation.
As she grew up, Fennwyn's desire to explore and experience the world outside the forest grew stronger, and her resentment of her mother and the other members of her seed who forbade her from leaving the seed under threat she wouldn't be allowed to return. The older women of the seed telling her of old wars and tensions between races, blaming it on the recklessness of wood elf men provoking conflict.
However, Fennwyn's curiousity wasn't sated, and when the seed settled down in a location, she began to sneak out at night while the others slept, seeking out villages and watching from the cover of the trees. But one day, she too reckless, and ventured into a town, speaking with some locals and learning a little of their culture. But when she returned to where her seed had settled just before dawn, and only found the smouldering remains of the campfire, only her belongings left behind. So with no seed to return to, she set out to explore the world as she'd always dreamed of.
