Rhobrehnyr was named after the last words her mother spoke before she passed from birthing her, though her father did not know the meaning of the name. Though her father did his best, he struggled after her mother's death, causing him difficulties in showing affection to his daughter. He primarily providing for her physical needs through work as a farmer, but was gruff and standoffish emotionally, especially towards his daughter, despite his best efforts. With her fathers emotional distance, one of his comrades from his time in Norlandian military assisted in nurturing the girl as a surrogate parent. When not getting into trouble with the other youths, or working on her fathers farm, Nyr spent her time listening to stories of her father and his fellow soldiers exploits in the military. She was enraptured by the tales of heroics and comradery, and even by the more gruesome elements of the stories, dreaming of adventures of her own. When she came of age, she left her father's Norlandian farm in search of her own adventures. Though a peasant girl, she hoped to make a name for herself as a soldier, or at least as a mercenary if not, perhaps remaining tension from the Usurper's War in Rozania would provide her with such an opportunity.
