Alice StyrBjornsdottir was a daughter of a smith and a trader. She lived a rather normal/ simple life at the southern border of The Kingdom of Haense until her seventh winter. Some wealthy people with many friends got in a violent argument that eventually lead a 'civil war' in the village between 4 groups. After they thought that killing eachother wasn't enough they began burning everything to the ground down and killed even the women and children. Alice was lucky, she was in the nearby forest, picking flowers and herbs, when the conflict started. she saw the smoke and ran towards her village. When she arrived she saw her house was already ashes and the corpses of her brother on its doorstep. Not much further she saw her mother, impaled on a pitchfork. Then she heard the screams of her father, who was trying his best to defend himself and what was left of the innocents. Her father was old but was a soldier during the war between the Holy Orenian Empire and The Free State of Sutica. After besting every man that tried to kill him he was stabbed in the back of the neck, slowly bleeding out her father yelled with his last breath "RUN!". Without even thinking twice she ran towards the forest. after walking for 3 days she passed out on the middle of the road and was later found by travellers who took her to the nearest village further to the south-western border. She eventually was adopted in a new family who worked at the village's main inn. After her 14th birthday she to worked at the inn. She did so until her 17th birthday. In that time she learned many things; how write, how to read, how to eat properly, how to talk without her heavy highlandic accent, how to hold weapons, although she never mastered it, and defend herself and many stories and songs. When she was 17 and had some money to buy some food and shelter she left her adopted family and wandered around the land, trading whatever valuables she could find for money. Alice travelled from town to village to city for 2 years, where my experience starts in the city of Renatus.
