Pietr Volkmann-Roist was raised on a homestead rented out from the local lord. He learned his father's trade, baking, at a young age and took pride in his craft as it was all he could truly call his own in this world. A mysterious fire destroyed his family's homestead in the Kingdom of Haense when he was 20, leaving his family destitute and broken. All he was able to recover from the homestead as it burned was a jar of bread starter and some yeast. His parents did not survive the trek to the nearest town as it was the dead of winter. Pietr prides himself on being a quality tradesman and a trusty companion, dreaming of one day living without being under the thumb of another.
