  1. I wanted to formally make this post announcing that I will be stepping down as Administrator of the Moderation Team. At this point in time I no longer feel like I can effectively hold this position and drive the server in a positive direction. Once my successor is chosen I will be handing over the reigns. When I first came back to the server, I was immediately filled with nostalgia and excited for all that I had missed and all the possibilities that I could see before me. I got to talk to friends that I had not spoken in over 8 years and I really enjoyed myself. When I came across my least favorite aspect of the server, locked doors, I decided to rejoin Moderation, a team I had not been a part of since I was swiftly removed from Global Moderator in 2011 for building a casino out of world edit. In that time there were many areas of the server I found myself passionate to work on. I built systems which I feel greatly improved how moderation functioned and tried to set precedents of transparency and open communication between the team and the community. That being said, as I climbed from Moderator, to Management to Administrator I became more and more disconnected from the community and the passion I once had. I had bit off more than I could chew and found myself with a hand in seemingly every team. I didn’t have strong enough support systems in place, both on Administration and on the team. At the end of the day, this was my fault and could have been easily prevented if I had asked for more help and not taken so much responsibility on, but at the end of the day I was not up for the task. While I feel like I may have had a strong start, at this point in time I feel like the longer I stay on as Administrator, I am contributing to a stagnation we have seen time and time again on staff. I have fallen short on my duties, often leaving players on read for days at a time, failing to be more active in my communication and my transparency with players which was one of my driving passions behind joining Management and Administration. I have also failed the community in making this a safe place for everyone who comes to the server. While I have improved my efforts over the past two months to more quickly handle reports over safety concerns, this does not excuse the fact that there were times where I did not make decisions quick enough or stalled on reports and I apologize for anyone who may have been hurt by these inactions or indecisiveness. In the past three months I began playing on an alt account, and I saw many areas of the server that needed improvement. I got to experience the server through a new player's perspective but that experience made me realize that I am not the right person for the job. The server, and Moderation needs an administrator with fresh eyes, passion and a desire to make strong changes. Stagnation is a constant threat for Administrators and the server and it's time for me to take a step back and allow changes to be made. Now comes the question of what comes next, I plan to stay on the team and guide the transition process for bringing on a new Moderation Administrator. To the best of my abilities carry out the duties of this role until my successor is chosen. I don’t want to leave the server, but I feel like after almost two full years I need to take my first real break. I will be stepping down from Moderation once my replacement is picked and then focus more on content creation, finally finishing the website update and overall pushing to improve advertising, new player outreach and player retention, on the Community team if they will still have me. I still have a lot of love for this server, but I believe this is the best step for myself personally, for the moderation team, and the server as a whole. Once a new Admin is chosen, I will be returning to my role as Chairmen of the Ex-GM Team. Its been fun. - BasketWeaver/Anore

  3. Political Entities of Almaris, 1st Edition. Wilfred Proudfoot IV, Year 12 SA ((Click here for full resolution)) After traveling throughout the lands of Almaris, Wilfred Proudfoot IV completes his first edition of the political entities that occupy these new lands. On Year 12 of the Second Age he notes that there are ten entities whom would be considered Nations along with three independent charter groups. After lowering his quill, he notices his mistake of never choosing a color to represent the newly formed Talon's Port who has now risen to be considered a Nation. "Ah... well this shall be corrected in the second edition" he mumbles before sending this map out across the land.
  4. I just needed a second to get confirmation is all, See update in FAQ
  5. No need to sneak, I will approve.
  6. MAP ART RELEASE JANUARY 2021 After a long wait, we are finally ready to start allowing players to submit art to be implemented in-game. This will allow our community and staff to fill the world with more immersive art to add more life to our cities, events and the rest of the world. How Will it Work? 1. A Player can submit their art by creating a /wreq 2. Players send the art they want converted to world team member. 3. If the Map is approved, we will use Image Map 3 to convert image to map file. 4. The map file will be added to the server and given to player Costs and Limitations Each map costs 100 minas, players can have their image cover up to a 3x3 map portrait for a total cost of 900 minas. Players can make copies themselves for no additional costs. At launch we will only allow up to 3x3 maps, and only 5 images imported per players. Rules 1. Maps must be server appropriate and abide by our rules and standards. 2. Maps must be RP friendly. 3. All Map submissions must go through the approval process, even staff maps. FAQ Why is there a cost to import maps? The process is not instantaneous and takes time to review and import maps, the minas cost is to limit a large amount of maps being requested so that we can push out submissions in a timely manor. How does importing work? We will be using the program Image Map 3 to import image files sent to us and convert them into map_#.dat files that we can upload into the server. If you are interested in trying out the program and making sure your submission will easily import click the link above. Won't this create lag? While in large amounts in a small area, all entities can create lag, Llir and Nickrocky believe this will not have a noticeable impact on server lag, but may have some impact on client side frame rates. We have limited map sizes to 3x3 for now in order to make sure do not have entire rooms covered in map art. Will this be added as a VIP perk? As of now, we are not considering adding this to VIP perks. If the risk presents itself that the map art we have implemented is causing a noticeable impact on server performance, we would not have wanted players to have wasted their money on something that was canceled. What will be the turnaround to receive map art? At launch, depending on how many initial submissions there might be a small wait to get your maps, once we get going we hope for map turnaround to be less than 24 hours, though that is not set in stone. What about custom map art that has already made it onto the server? World Team Management is in the process of tracking down all world maps that were made (for personal or national use) prior to the system, logging them and ensuring they are paid for, or removed. I know this isn't some server changing update but I am excited to see the map filled with art and creating a more immersive environment. I know this system isn't perfect but we have an internal tracking system to keep track of all the maps in the world to ensure that if we do change or improve this system we will still have all the data.
  7. I hope you are well.

  8. After signing the pact, Theodore Mane sits at the Alley Alehouse in Talon's Port he writes a letter to Captain Leopold, of the Freeport Privateers, ruler of Freeport "I am sure you are still away on travels, but by the time this letter reaches you, Freeport will have signed into an agreement with the city of Talon's Port. Once you return, I recommend you make an attempt to work together. I will soon be returning to Freeport and I hope that was the last time I have to travel by sea." Sets down his pen before sending off his letter, he reaches for his cane and begins his journey back to The Cove of Freeport.
  9. i have proven to be useless with posting this monthly update
  10. Hello old friend, PM on discord Basket#4977 we will get your sorted
  11. Rule Changes, Week of 1/4/21 Conflict Rules: Original: Rule 5: If 12+ people become engaged in the combat, PVP may be called through a majority vote of all people involved. Spectators may not vote. To avoid any complications, you may ask a Moderator to watch. Votes may only be redone if new people join the scene or through moderation. Once PvP is requested, a PvP lock is initiated on whoever is present. Anyone who does not take part in the PvP or was not included in the PvP lock once the countdown is initiated is considered a spectator. Spectators may not interfere in any way. They may not follow along (even if they are statused) with the PvP unless approved by a moderator. Update: Rule 5: If 12+ people become engaged in the combat, the combat is defaulted to PvP. This can be overridden through a majority vote of all people involved. Spectators may not vote. To avoid any complications, you may ask a Moderator to watch. Votes may only be redone if new people join the scene or through moderation, but not after PvP has been initiated. Rational: General Clarification: The original purpose of this rule, was to cut down on instances where an attacking party sought to gather as many people into the conflict to force a PvP default. This led players who sought out CRP to be forced to PvP after being dragged into a conflict larger that they thought. While it is important to acknowledge that this is an RP server and we should strive to RP over other forms of combat, once you hit a high enough number, keeping track of emotes, movements and general CRP can become more troublesome. While the rule itself is not changing that drastically the intent is to say, once you get to 12+ people engaged in a conflict the default will go to PvP unless one side or group of the players decides to vote for CRP or Rolling CRP and a majority agree. This is to imply that although we would prefer to continue to RP, we as moderation acknowledge that oftentimes it becomes more difficult to CRP in large groups and eventually after arguments and eventual modreqs, it ends up defaulting to PvP regardless.
  12. That would be more on scheduling of the battles, if both allies had their battle on the same day/time then the other side would be forced to split their forces. Either try to divide their forces to win both battles, put their stronger forces on one battle and risk taking a loss on the other etc. I do agree that there is issue related to that, which should be clarified.
  13. That portion of the rules is more saying that you would be having wars on different fronts, rather than sharing the battlefield with your ally, your allies would be fighting with you on different fronts. Once the fast travel plugin is implemented (hopefully this week) that may make some changes to the concept of 2 tiles away.
  14. Heyo, sorry I'm late. Over the past months to even a year, the server has been sort of in a limbo of not having a definitive set of war rules and guidelines for how the community can proceed with meaningful conflict. After the project changed hands a couple times we put together a team and created a system over the past month. While some wars have been allowed to proceed they lacked consistency, staff backing and a sense of urgency for conflict to be taken seriously. We have now finished our first draft of LoTC's new War System. Learning from the frustrations of the past and trying to mitigate potential conflicts of interest, the current emphasis for a new war system rests on the reason players have for going to war. As well, we hope to provide as many pre-thought methods in which we moderate conflict when dealing with war. Doing this helps create a transparent and inclusive way to “play the game”, and an atmosphere where a biased Moderator or troublesome leader isn’t just making things up on the spot. The following system serves as the base guideline for how major conflicts can be handled on the server. At all times, the players have the ability to override virtually everything about the system so long as there is unanimous assent. These are the game rules that we will hold everyone to and shall enforce when the players are unable to come to an agreement normally. When considering how the war system should work, we need to ensure that whatever we create will still function in absence of working plugins, war servers, or other helpful tools. As well, the main intent is to create a system that allows for a little creative or fluid dynamism and doesn't get lost in trying to collect war scores or data points. This idea can be most easily expressed as a “tug of war” when actually fighting the war. The final drive for this system is to create something that isn't too bogged down by trying to account for EVERY possible conflict or war condition. It’s a game people play while playing the game and we need to start by creating the base game that simply works. We can always release hotfixes and expansions later once we see how things work or garner new inspiration from the real world testing. To access the war rules and guidelines please go under the rules section to the War Rules Tab Feedback, Hotfixes and Updates With wars, this post and these rules are not the final stop on our path to creating meaningful conflict on the server, as we are doing with the server rules, player feedback is incredibly important, as is transparency. So in addition to server rules, there will also be a post with a change log of any changes made to the system. In addition to hot fixes and player suggestions, we also have a set of planned updates or expansions on the war system as well: Planned Expansions Internal Conflict - January 2021 Religious Conflict Naval Conflict

      I, on the other hand have lost all faith in all teams and am now actively encouraging people to leave LoTC. 'Sorry that  you feel mistreated for being mistreated'. Is all I got from it.

  16. Howdy, As many of you know, after Map launch Grool decided to step down from Administration and allow for someone else to step up and lead the team during this next chapter. We greatly appreciate all the time and effort Grool put into World Team and his passion in helping lead the development of what we now know as Almaris. He left behind a great team of managers and world team members alike, so it was not an easy decision to find a replacement for Grool. We appreciate him sticking around for as long as he did, staying on board to give his input for the Administration picks, and continuing to assist as a World Manager. We would also like to say thank you to World team, especially World Managers, for sticking with it and working together during these weeks without an Administrator. For the last few weeks, Administration has been reviewing multiple candidates for this position. Today, we are excited to announce that Junar has been appointed World Team Administrator. In his time on the server and on World Team, Junar has shown a passion for raising the standards of builds players can expect from this server. When World Team hit a wall months ago, Junar stepped up and helped lead the development for 8.0. We are excited for what Junar has in store for World Team and the energy he will bring to Administration. Go ahead and say "atta boy" or something, LOTC Administration.
  17. Hello, We have decided to remove LotsOfMuffins from her position as General Administrator. This was a difficult decision since, during her time on staff, she has put countless hours of time and effort into the server both on Moderation and Community team, in addition to trying to make amends after last month's post. But, we feel this is necessary in order to continue to work towards building trust between the community and administration, as well as to move in the direction we want to as a server. Telanir will continue to serve as Community Admin for the time being, and our pick for an Administrator of the World Team will soon be selected. We ask that you remain respectful following this news. - Lord of the Craft Administration .ipsReact { display: none; }

  19. See three updates to the rules as of today:

  20. Rule Changes, Week of 11/2820 General Rules: Addition of Rule: Rule 7: You may only have a maximum of three minecraft accounts registered on the server. Rational: Added this rule to prevent spamming of alt accounting and to for security purposes to prevent likelihood of alt accounts being compromised. Roleplay Rules: Original: Rule 8: Your characters may not interact with each other. This includes physically being together transferring items, or otherwise contributing* to each other's abitions, goals, or stories. - You may play your own children, though they may no physically interact in-game. Addition of Sub-point: Rule 8: Your characters may not interact with each other. This includes physically being together transferring items, or otherwise contributing* to each other's ambitions, goals, or stories. - You may play your own children, though they may no physically interact in-game. - You may not use multiple personas to gain an advantage by circumventing Vortex limitations and concentrating the benefits with one nation/settlement/group/etc. Example, no "Vortex Alts" or RPly unaffiliated personas contributing to something that doesn't make sense for them. Rational: Addition of sub-point to specify rule against Vortex abuse related to multiple personas. General Combat: Original: Rule 10: Villainous activity or combat near or in Cloud Temple or travel hubs is prohibited. This includes ANY roads leading up to or from them, meaning one may not block travelers from entering or leaving the area by camping at an intersection leading to Cloud Temple or a travel hub. Addition of Sub-point: Rule 10: Villainous activity or combat near or in Cloud Temple or travel hubs is prohibited. This includes ANY roads leading up to or from them, meaning one may not block travelers from entering or leaving the area by camping at an intersection leading to Cloud Temple or a travel hub. - Must be at least 100 blocks down the road in any direction from the hub or Cloud Temple. Rational: Addition of sub-point to define what is meant by road to or from Hubs. Previous wording as it stood prevented all banditry whatsoever as with the lack of roads at the start of the map, "technically" no roads were not leading to or from a hub. Now banditry must take place at least 100 blocks down the road, from the hub.
  21. The website is currently experiencing some issues while we are working on some fun updates. We will get the mobile and background issues sorted out soon.
