THE CITIZENS MILITIA OF VEKARO
PURPOSE OF THE MILITIA
On the 1460th seed, the levymaster of Raev called for a militia composed of citizens to be raised to protect the township of Vekaro. The militia is a voluntary group of sworn strelts who wish to defend Vekaro on the frontlines on the battlefield and lead raids against its enemies. The militia is to take the duties of the former Order of the Strannik and serve as both a standing army and a guardforce for Vekaro. It will work together closely with the Decterum and other military groups within Raev.
RANKS OF THE MILITIA
LEVYMASTER
The leader of both the militia and the entire levy of Raev. The levymaster is the top figure within the military of Raev and is tasked with the overall leadership of the military. The levymaster has ultimate power over the military of Raev and can create and destroy the Militia at whim, appoint captains, and the like.
There is one Levymaster.
CAPTAIN
An officer of the militia. The captain is tasked with conscription, recruitment, and rewarding the militiamen. He is able to lead the men to battle, or to force patrols within the city. He has authority to command any and all militiamen and recruits. The captain is also allowed to gather the Levy of Vekaro and command them to battle if the Levymaster is unable.
There is one Captain. More captains will come as the militia grows.
MILITIAMAN
The backbone of the militia. The militiamen compose a large mass of the militia. They are under the command of the Captains and Levymaster. They patrol the streets, guard the walls, search houses, and enforce the laws. During war, they work as a forward force of operations to keep the strelts that wish to work rather than fight on the frontlines.
RECRUIT
Lowly men that are first recruited into the militia. They are on a probationary period where they do not have keys to guardhouses or prisons. When on watch they are to be with another militiaman to learn the ropes. They make up the front lines of the vanguard during battle. The recruit period is up to the discretion of the Captain(s).
PAYMENT WITHIN THE MILITIA
The militia is paid based on the work that a militiaman does, not on a weekly salary. Militiamen are payed by the levymaster and captain(s) at their own discretion based on the activity of the militiaman. If there is an man actively on gate-duty and patrolling the roads, he will be payed more than someone who is stricken with sloth and only runs in circles among the town. Participants in battles and raids will be able to keep the armor they earned as well as payment.
UNIFORM OF THE MILITIA
All militiamen and recruits are to be given a helmet along with a weapon of their choice. There is not official uniform within the militia, citizens simply wear their everyday clothes along with a helmet. Armor will be given out to those that require it, the same with weaponry.
((There are no real uniforms within the Militia))
