  1. A few perspectives from a player who hand a hand in most aspects of that map; - Magic was very limited but growing. Voidal mages were rare and in their beginning stages. Only a few practitioners of each type existed. Dark magic wasn’t a big thing among players. Cultural magic such as shamanism, golemancy, druidism, were probably the most prominent. - There was a long history of tension between high elves and Malinor but they coexisted/cohabitated more than they do now. - Salvus, once the hub for Human RP, was eventually conquered by Orcs and turned to a desert via their shamans. - the furthest tip of Anthos is a swamp - The Delver War against Malinor was a hot topic! - Human RP was Human RP ( but a lot happened so be sure to ask around). The war of the White Rose in particular. - Eastern Humans were a really big thing it seemed. Samurai? - The dwarves had the deep roads (ask someone about this cuz idk) - Mage College existed atop a magical node that made everything under the keep into a swirling reality mess. This was the first of its kind to be rightly studied. - Dwarves and High elves had tensions over golemancy, which was originally dwarven magic but given to the helves secretly (can you say high elven golem ranger??) - the northern ice wall was a full circle around that gigantic biome. It was unscalable & had one entrance. When it was breached the forces discovered the Bohra, a race of tribal boar-men, who once inhabited a vast northern empire. They were obsessed with Thanhium (blue magic ore that draws in mana and freezes the area around it). Some Bohra priests could manipulate the ore to use in magic (was never lore explained. Only a single character did this). - Thanhium is LoTC’s gold in terms of a Dragon’s horde. Dragon-kin inhabited the North and were discovered to be the ones who destroyed the ancient bohra empire. The biome had tons of full scale dungeons & explorable ruins/treasures. - Setherien (i honestly cannot remember their origion other than them being a dragonkin corrupted by iblees) had a realm called the red realm. Inside was a vast wasteland of corruption and curses where his armies were cultivated & bred. He eventually opened a gateway in the north and conquered the tribal bohra. In his wake many other descendants were abducted and corrupted into mutilated versions of themselves. - there were different ranks (i may look on my laptop tomorrow for the file) but essentially you had engineers, grunts, assassins, brutes, and then a council of red cloaked monsters. All characterized by oozing, metal-grafted flesh. - eventually Setherien’s commanding forces were perfected into ice wraith lords (they looked like LoTR wraiths but with ice & draining magic) - The descendants marched upon the red realm and waged war upon it. They eventually won but soon after a cataclysmic event caused the continent to be washed away by a flood. Forcing them to escape through a portal to the Fringe bohra basic lore: excuse the first part. It’s so old and outdated who cares who reads it x] also sorry it is black text. You will have to copy it? Idc what kinda campaign you are doing. Just make sure that everyone knows about Iatrilemar Elervathar creating Arcanism!
  2. Anyone who has played Banner Saga must love the Varl. I think some alternative for LoTC would be cool.

We have never had an Orc-Dwarf Crossbreed so what if it was a horned species with cave-dwelling tendencies, brute strength, and a bulky stature? Ultimate LoTC race incoming? You are welcome.

  4. Smart lore building. ? DLC keeps the masses engaged.
  5. Thar Supremacy Since 2012

  6. Building and being ET buds with you are still some of my fondest LoTC memories. I couldn’t agree more with everything you said, I only wish i had spent a little more time roleplaying with you before you left. You have always been a grounding pillar for LoTC and I hope we can read each other’s books one day. Chat me up sometimes, I’d welcome the interaction! ✌️
  7. Hit me up on discord sometime, bud! ?
  8. Yo orcs. Why hasn’t anyone made a clan of cyclops yet?

  9. I know but such is life (I was being sassy for the sake of being sassy).
  10. You need to give different options for attunement because requiring psychoactive material components is bologne. As for the iris part; I guess. It would help with providing a solid and consistent tell. What happens when someone RPs having the same aura and eye color already? They just have the glowing effect?
  11. r u d e edit: but honestly it was never apparent to me back when I created Arcanism that those involved wouldn’t be able to negotiate the effects of the spell together if there wasn’t a formula. The original spells weren’t meant to be the only spells and stuff like the beams were just a personal iteration as the magic was being introduced IRP. It was understood that you’d receive that type of knowledge in-game as well. However the new standards are much more user friendly and beneficial for the LT in terms of not relying on the teachers to be spreading all the information.
  12. It feels all encompassing but then doesn’t tire them out? The common theme of melee characters not having to track stamina bothers me.
  13. just roll for war

      Nah. rock paper scissors.

  14. Not that I think Chi should be compatible with voidal magic but voidal magic doesn’t blemish the soul & your greater sensing ability that allows them to see if people cast magic may be a no-no in the eyes of the LT.
  15. Do you ever mass-murder everything and everyone while playing Skyrim only to stop and ask yourself: “Does this make me a psychopath?”

    Probably.

  17. Don’t like the name & can’t read most of this due to the dark font color.
  18. Cloud Temple should be dynamic but not in a way that requires players to run it. It should be a hub for information including questgivers, NPCs teaching rules & chat systems, and things like notice boards for job listings. Maybe each nation gets a board for new players to look at. Maybe a bounty board is in a tavernlike cloud temple. Whatever it is just make it fresh. And with that being said... When one world meets its end our characters tend to find themselves to another world with yet another Cloud Temple. Isn’t it time the Story Team develop some story around that? Monks should be NPC and event based. Having players play a sect of monks is cool but they should exist separately. The tangibility of the monks should be the same for each character.
  19. I COMPLAIN A LOT BUT I ACTUALLY APPRECIATE MOST OF YOU ASSHOLES.

  20. The idea that a magic should take multiple slots is redundant. If you have multiple magics that are just separate slots of the same thing then you are just creating rules for the sake of creating rules. The fact is that this magic only really does a few things but has a sliding scale in terms of raw power. It shouldn’t take multiple magic slots in order to allow a magic to be diverse. History tells us that most users won’t use all of it. It allows them to pick and choose from an arsenal of spells that best fit their character. They aren’t just arcanists, they are unique characters with individual spells that used to more closely relate to their personal story. That being said; This is “lore”and as the person who created and shaped this magic (orignal arcanism existed in Aegis but was nothing like what I did with it) I would personally appreciate some more recognition for my roleplay character, Iatrilemar Elervathar, and the years and years of roleplay that went into its development. Pretty egotistical of me to ask after you did all this work, I know, but I think giving credit to where it is due is important for the story of this magic. (Or perhaps I should just write a Legend thread to satiate that need for ego). Edits after read 2: I agree with the usage of weapons and sharpness and their relation to enchantments. In general this piece sticks close to the original. I can see that a lore sidenote might be out of place for a post that is describing the spells and workings of the magic but I want to reaffirm that it’s important to know the history of the magic. Could a small section be formed at the beginning? Otherwise I am pleased with the direction. I’ll spend some time retreading it. If you have any questions for me let me know. Also ty for taking this on when I was too fed up to do it myself.
  21. The writer of this specific iteration cut it essentially.
  22. It is important to note that this is not yet accepted. Regulations put in place here are subject to change. On current lore: Life specialization has a few spells that can be cast without Conjuration. These forms are rough shapes and non-sentient. There are no hard-rules on how many spells you can use from any number of specializations. I say you should focus on 1 and mingle into the others unless Arcanism is your main magic. Then I would allow yourself to explore it a bit more freely. Emote counts will definitely help teach Arcanism though so if you have any comments about specific ones I would bring it up.
  23. I always stated Celestialism to be an “endgame” addition to Arcanism. However I believed that endgames should be about obtaining tools that allow the player to further facilitate roleplay rather than obtaining raw power. By the time someone reaches an endgame they should be fully engaged in how their magic works and how it specifically shapes their character. An endgame shouldn’t be about completing something and instead it should be an option to further roleplay in that specific magic. Basically endgames should offer tools that allow interested parties to solidify a thematic role without pumping power into them. I think I achieved this in Celestialism and had self-teaching been kept it may have faired better than it has (I dislike teaching rp/busy life =/= inability to stoke the rp). Endgames (including my own lore) can’t rely too heavily on one person. They need to be built to be accessible. That being said endgames have added a lot of dynamic elements to the server. I have a bias towards Archons since what I experienced from that lore was positive. A few years later I can see how lore like that, and maybe even my own, need another look to make sure the theme they offer is built around aesthetics instead of control. Does any of that make sense? I’m feeling tepid on this issue.
