  1. Sea of Stars Our journey among of the Sea of Stars begins in the year 2090. In the wake of the successful manned missions to the Moon, Mars, Titan and Europa, as well as the colonization of these celestial bodies in our solar system, research investments into technologies that could accelerate mankind beyond the confines of its own home system skyrocketed. We write the year 2083, when the Gandhi device was tested successfully for the first time. The Gandhi device, developed by India, was the first FTL drive of mankind. Utilizing the premise of warping space (practically a Warp drive), it allowed ships to travel at increasingly higher velocities, without discomfort to the crew. Given a few technical issues, such as very high fuel consumption, as well as being impractical to use in rapid succession, due to its long spool up time, it was what mankind needed. In spirit of cooperation and to carry the message of peace, the inventors of the device shared their findings with the whole scientific community and of course the world, allowing every nation on Earth to travel out into the Sea of Stars. Naturally, mankind is competitive and old mother Earth only had limited resources, albeit somewhat alleviated by the growing infrastructure within the solar system itself, with commercial mining taking place in the asteroid belts and shipments going between the various solar colonies and Earth. With the nearby star systems, perhaps even the whole galaxy at their fingertips, the nations of the world decided it was time to bring their ideologies out into the world, to leave a mark in existence, break the boundaries and shape the world to their image. The players assume control of one of these national, private or perhaps even religious missions, starting in the year 2090. After having left behind Earth with their designated payloads and willing colonists (defined at the start by the player), they venture out into the great unknown of space, where mankind's knowledge is quite limited. Earth and Sol remain behind, to act as a political stage, to request support from, or to supply with knowledge and technologies gained from the deep space exploration and colonization. And as the participants progress in expanding their bases and colonies out there in the nearby star systems, Mother Earth remains behind, still with many of its unresolved issues. Many a thing could happen and it may be the choice of the colonies to remain quiet to grow independent from home, but in order to avoid the ire of the UN and their place of birth, an eye should always be cast back to Sol. Events can unfold that may change the course of history, not only among the Sea of Stars, but also at home. But this is a story to tell. What matters now, is that you make your choice who you wish to be, what agenda you might pursue, under whose flag you sail forth or who you represent, mankind as a whole or just national ambition? Where will you set foot first? What curiosities may you find out there? And will you pursue peace or dominance? Will you prosper or perish? Many questions to ask, but effort is required to find these answers. Please follow the guidelines that come next for your application to join the ranks of explorers, colonists and conquerors. The Playing Field Due to the nature of the Gandhi device, its dependence on a local subspace anomaly which encompasses Sol and its neighbouring stars the initial places to travel to are limited in number, but still many riches and resources may be discovered. The Beginning Moves The distances are vast and due to restrictions in methods of observation, the planetary structure of the solar system in reach of mankind are unknown. In the rules there is a detailed explanation as to how the systems, once entered are being established. In short, a system of chance combined with the liberal use of a virtual set of dice decides what objects and worlds the players may uncover. Every participant starts with his special Frontier Class Colony ship back at good old Mother Earth, where, as per UN agreement, they are to depart simultaneously, their choice of star they wish to journey at the discretion of the leaders of the colonial ventures. Once arrived and settled upon a (more or less) suitable world, they may pursue the goals they have set themselves, but keep in mind that the UN and Mother Earth, whilst generously supporting the fledging colonies at first, may have missions they should follow through with. Or at least pretend to try to finish. The rewards can be useful for further consolidating one’s own powerbase. What is next? Following your continously growing colony, which might soon become multiplanetary, or even multistellar (is that a word?), you have decisions to make. Will you stay loyal to home and Mother Earth? Will you follow the agendas of your Nation or community back there? Or will you pursue goals that are aligned with the whims of your colonial leaders? Perhaps you wish to break the supposed yoke of the UN and liberate the worlds altogether? There are many approaches you may take, and I will attempt my piece to keep challenges rising and plots twisting. Interested? Glad to have your attention for this long. Following the (currently) rough ruleset here, you are to draft up the outlines of your colony, decide with the additional starting points what further resources you wish to take along on your first journey into the Stars. Once that is settled, the Discord server is at your disposal, where events are being played out, encounters take place, away from the statistical posting the forums will be utilized for. Following all this, at last, once enough interested parties have signed up and are accepted, a new thread shall rise where we set off at long last. To the Sea of Stars. Looking forward to your replies. 2. I am fairly certain that Snow Elves weren’t even supposed to be a thing in the first place. They came into existence on Anthos through some rulebreaking machinations by players who were dissatisfied with Oren. I personally think it is a viable course of action to remove them and make them High Elves again. What distinction was there even, aside from an affinity for ice and cold. Perhaps less arrogance, but that’s it. What I am surprised about is that it took so many years to fix this. As a pointer to the Snow Elven playerbase, you can always have your own place, of course, but given that you there are on average less people playing Elves than Men, you’d rather stick with others. Perhaps consider filling the ranks of the Dark Elves? They are shattered and completely underplayed.
  3. Raetia - 10368 & 10369 AE - “I heard their pleas. I heard the news.” Martok calmly notes in attendance of Coro Mens and Torkrom. Raetia was ready for the war. Somewhat. But the decision had to be made now, Martok had to commit. On one hand it would be to “serve” a ruler he did neither know nor hold any love for, a dictator who held little regard for him. On the other he would be drawn to the corrupt and disgusting bureaucrats that call themselves democrats and eachother “equals”. Both sides filled with less than ideal companions, Martok’s only goal is power. As such, given the location of Raetia and the opportunity, he knew what side to choose. The armies are rallied, the ships are fueled and manned, the commanders are assigned. Raetia goes to war in 10369 AE. - 10368 AE - Actions One new destroyer, as well as two heavy cruisers are to join the ranks of the RSF. (-37,500 C, -10 NP, -10 M) Raetia proceeds to increase its retinues of Space Marines, to have a strong and powerful army for future endeavours. 20,000 men to be armed in the high tech power armor. (-10,000 C, -3 AP, -1 E, -2M) Tarsonis (30-J) receives Heavy Industrial investments, in order to supply Raetia with the necessary fuel for the upcoming operations. (-10,000 C, -2 B) Coro Mens allocates funds to the RIA under leadership of L. R. to further their operations. (-30,000 C, MOD) The stellarchy declines to pay any taxes this year as well. The remainder of the Metals are stored. (14 M FREE STORAGE) Maintenance is paid for the forces obviously. (-23,000 C) The remainder of Credits are being kept back for another time. (-188,000 C) - 10369 AE - Actions Raetia constructs another two garrisons and a LRSB, specifically on Trepp (58-J, 1 garrison, 1 LRSB) and Koprulu (41-J, 1 garrison). (-30,000 C, -8 B, -6 M) Five destroyers are being constructed. (-37500 C, -10 NP, -10 M) A unit of tanks is constructed for the ever growing Raetian Stellar Force. (-5,000 C, -2 M, -3 AP) Coro Mens allocates funds to the RIA under leadership of L. R. to further their operations. (-30,000 C, MOD) The stellarchy declines to pay any taxes this year as well. Maintenance is paid for the forces obviously. (-26,000 C) The remainder of Credits are being kept back for another time. (-158,250 C)
  4. Promising. It is after all a unique opportunity, I do not think there is any RP server out there (if there are any RP servers left on Minecraft at all), that could implement such a focused and “hardcore” economical system. It will be interesting on how nations manage their nodes... considering though they are universally accessible, that dampens the requirement for specialization. On the other hand, given that if they are limited, that encourages trade. Not bad. Designating nodes would maintain the landscape to a higher degree. Has freebuild been adressed? I am certain there are still advocates for such among us. I personally do not really support freebuild in the main regions. Hard printed money? I’d love to make coinage for Haense, using my rename tokens. Or will the plugins be adjusted accordingly? How will you fare in allowing for exchanges and/or shops for it to function? (I’d love to see shops where you buy other currency with your own currency!) All in all, looking forward to this.
  5. Raetia - 10367 AE - War on the horizon. Raetia prepares to take its place amongst the stars. Actions With the arrival of the components from Matene, Raetia proceeds to increase its retinues of Space Marines, to have a strong and powerful army for future endeavours. Following the news, it was most certainly necessary. 20,000 men to be armed in the high tech power armor. (-10,000 C, -3 AP, -1 E, -2M) Two new destroyers, as well as two cruisers are to join the ranks of the RSF. (-35,000 C, -10 NP, -8 M) Both the worlds of Itrium and Trepp receive garrisons for fortification purposes. (-20,000 C, -6 B, -4 M) Coro Mens allocates funds to the RIA under leadership of L. R. to further their operations. (-30,000 C, MOD) Archon Martok of House Raetia officially promotes three high ranking members of the RSF to Fleet Commanders and two others to Army Commanders. (-125,000 C for these leaders) The stellarchy declines to pay any taxes this year. The remainder of the Metals are stored. (16 M FREE STORAGE) One unit of components (E) remains stored for later use (warehouses built previously). The remainder of Credits are being kept back for another time. (-204,750 C)
  6. Raetia - 10366 AE - “Are you certain Setyr is up to the task?” – “Yes.” – “Hm. I understand you wanted to get rid of the old cot who has been running the show in the name of your father, Volker Brell... but since he was killed in that Senate brawl regardless, a lot less trouble to have Setyr assume his post.” Coro Mens comments as he accompanies Archon Martok Raetia on his way to the main war room of the palace complex. A few years ago, a bit after his instatement as the new Stellarch, he sent out the comparatively young, but promising Damron Setyr as replacement senator in his stead. Martok gave him certain orders, but otherwise entrusted him with free reign to act in the best interest for Raetia and Martok’s plans. Coro Mens would have been a candidate, but the Stellarch needs the capable advisor at his side. Besides he has been made head of palace security after his coup, nobody knows the palace better than him. Not even old Rankor in his over two-hundred years of reign knew that much about the most important building in the galaxy. At least for Martok it was. His seat of power, his heart of control. From here, he would proceed to manifest the destiny of Raetia. And succeed or fail ultimately. They arrive in the warroom moments later, where a whole entourage of commanders are awaiting them. They all salute as the Stellarch enters the room, who dismisses the gesture rather quickly and turns immediately to the central galactic projection. Martok has plans and the first steps must be taken already. The commanders observe quietly, knowing well that their Archon is not a man who likes to be interrupted in his thoughts and plans. Moments pass, turn into minutes. And then: “Mobilize the RSF. Raetia goes to war.” As quiet as possible all over the Stellarchy, the armies are activated, ships loaded and prepared, moving to their designated coordinates for the first strike that is planned to happen immediately next year. Certainly, thanks to the information quarantine that’s going on, nobody really takes notice, not within and most certainly not without. The arm of the Archon, the Raetian Intelligence Agency (RIA) is making sure that no information leaks out of the Stellarchy aside from what is willingly sent out into the ether. Actions This year the Stellarchy constructs additional 5,000 tanks and two cruisers on Korhal, as well as ten new transport ships. This should bolster the firepower of the RSF both in space and on land properly. (-8 M, -3 AP, -8 NP, -27,000 C) 36,000 C are set aside for the potentially arriving Components (E) from Matene. (-36,000 C) The world of Trepp (58-J) receives two warehouses to store resources in the future. (-5,000 C, -2 B) The Stellarchy mobilizes the RSF. However utilizing the intelligence network of the RIA everything is concealed from the public as well as any potential outsiders. Coro Mens allocates funds to the RIA under leadership of L. R. to further their operations. (-20,000 C, MOD) The Stellarchy sets aside 10,000 C, 2 M, 3 P, 1 F for the allocated taxes. (MOD) The remainder of Credits are being kept back for another time. (-133,250 C)
  7. Raetia - 10364 AE - RP to follow. Maybe. Actions The massive armement of Raetia continues. Both naval and ground forces of the RSF (Raetian Stellar Force) receive new ships and tools of war. Three destroyers and two corvettes, as well as a battallion of artillery. (-28,000 C, 7 NP, 7 M for the ships, -2,500 C, 2 AP, 2 M for the artillery) In a massive investment, the military industrial complex is expanded even further on the world of Korhal (18-J). The Stellarchy constructs 3 shipyards and 1 armory (-37,500 C; -8 B) The Agrarian world of Koprulu (41-J) receives investments to facilitate the expansion of the agricultural output. It might just be necessary in times like these. (-10,000 C, -2 B for 2x Heavy Industry) The remainder of Credits are being kept back for another time. (-137,500 C)
  8. Raetia - 10364 AE - Rapid armament and aggressive buildup was the agenda of Raetia. In the year since Martok has come to power, he has begun consolidating the basis said power was resting upon. The military complex. With generals and admirals on his side, because he promised vast investments into “their” forces, Martok also focused on cleaning house. With the secret police of Raetia and its many agents he continued the purge, extending it out from not only his own family which he culled quite substantially in all ruthlessness, but also other feudal and noble families, powerful merchants, everyone had to feel a gauss round obliterate their very bodies. It is a bit as if new life has been instilled to the complacent planets of Raetia. There was an odd activity in the air, most notable on Korhal, where actual activity was present. With several industrial sectors being stamped out of the ground on the planet’s surface, but no end in sight. Already, in the newly constructed shipyards of the world, a new ship begins assembly, a cruiser, nothing remarkable perhaps, but still a dangerous ship to behold. On Tarsonis on the other hand, a whole new division of infantry is drafted from the (un)willing populace, with the weapons being shipped over from Korhal, coming from the newly established production hubs. Archon Martok of House Raetia has a vision. And for this vision of his he needs the strength of all his people. Actions In a massive investment, the military industrial complex is expanded even further on the world of Korhal (18-J). The Stellarchy constructs 3 shipyards and 1 armories (-37,500 C; -8 B) The first cruiser runs from the shipyards of the Stellarchy of Raetia, ready to enforce the will of Lord Martok of Raetia. (-10,000 C, 2 M, 3 NP) Following a whole new division of infantry is recruited to keep order and remind the citizens of the iron fist of House Raetia. (-2,500 C, 2 M, 1 AP) A vast sum of 75,000 C is reserved for the arrival of potential building materials from Salvatore Vernazza. (MOD: Refer to Edel’s post.) The remainder of Credits are being kept back for another time. (-111,500 C)
  9. Raetia - 10363 AE - “When?” – “Ten minutes ago, during his time for the senate.” – “Where is he now?” – “In his quarters, with half the medical staff of the palace complex trying to save him.” – “Will they?” – “Should they?” Martok, the youngest son of Lord Rankor of Raetia was walking down one of the countless corridors of the Raetian palace on Korhal. This was the opportunity, this was the time to strike now. They were all in one place. Everyone arrived, even his loathed brothers Cryon and Zelbar. But likely they had similar plans. Too bad that he had everyone in their pocket, even those who his brothers thought they had under control. “No, no, they shouldn’t.” Martok finally states his his aide Coro Mens. “Execute order Regicide.” “Order Regicide is hereby active.” a distorted deep voice transmits over an encoded frequency throughout the palace. A few soldiers within take note of it through their comm devices, but only officers appear to grasp the meaning. What follows is swift and very much brutal as such. First, execute all commanding ranks that are not involved. Second, execute all members of House Raetia that are not designated as essential. Third, execute everyone who resists. Prepare, execution of order in five minutes. Five minutes later, the hallways of the palace are filled with nothing but endless screams, the noise of weapon’s fire and corpses. Hundreds of corpses. Having summoned practically all his family here the old Lord Rankor Raetia made this plan possible as such. Among the dead were soldiers and officers who were loyal to the other sons of Rankor, family members and descendants that belonged to the other branches of the family. Nobody was spared, no matter what age. ... All the while, a single person sits on the throne of the palace alone, listening to the sounds of the massace, his expression of stone, not giving a hint at what he feels or thinks. And his name is Martok of House Raetia. Actions In a massive investment, the military industrial complex is expanded drastically on the world of Korhal (18-J). The Stellarchy constructs 3 shipyards and 1 armories (-37,500 C; -8 B) The remainder of Credits are being kept back for another time. (-147,750 C)
  10. Raetia - 10362 AE - “Whatever it is, I am against it!” seems to have become the standard response of the now 252 year old Stellarch. He has gotten notably more erratic (senile) in the past months and the doctors are not very optimistic about his outlooks. Still, there is a determination within him, a refusal to yield to the trials of time and so he trods on, leading Raetia more or less, leaving the administrative duties to his underlings. And they do nothing but try to maintain peace on the worlds of Raetia. Supporters for independence, free speech and democracy are rampant throughout the planets, on the other hand radicals are threatening to let loose a civil war. So far, news of this have only sparsely broke through the tight border controls the Stellarchy maintains. In the eyes of the Empire, all is well and everyone’s a good Imperial citizen. For now. And then there is the eternal issue of the sons of Rankor, the ten family branches that have established themselves. For now, they sit idly as their founder sits idly and succumbs to his two dozen decades of lifetime. But once he is gone... Actions The planet Hyperion (20-J) and Sormun (21-J) receive Heavy Industry improvements in order to supplement the construction material the Stellarchy has available for future projects. (-40,000 C, -4 B for 4 Heavy Industry Improvements for B production) The remainder of Credits are being kept back for another time.
  11. Raetia - 10361 AE - “Where is this rotten son of mine?!” thundered the voice of Rankor throughout the throne room of the government palace on Korhal. He was fuming, as his spoiled brats are once again defying his will and command in his late years. For the past months they have become unruly and inobedient. Theor his eldest and heir apparent to Raetia was standing next to him, grey hair, wrinkled face, already well past 200 himself. The man in charge Rankor just turned 251, an age that can barely be fathomed by a normal man, his body held together by nothing but medicine, cybernetic implants and sheer willpower. But as many have been whispering, from the simple palace servants to the high echelons of the Stellarchy, even those implants are failing and the medicine is becoming ineffective. The ancient Lord Raetia was dying and it was only a matter of time. Still, being in the presence of the man was leaving an impression. It was not his stature, but appearance. Rankor’s aura is looming, giving off a pressure that brings but the most stoic people to their knees. After all, it was he who held the reigns on Raetia for the past twohundred thirty years. All of this considered, for many it is unimaginable that he might be gone one day. Who will succeed him? Theor the eldest son was a ruin in similar ways like his father, but then there were also the other nine sons, their families and the countless grandchildren and great grandchildren. Today was important, as Rankor has summoned all his sons to Korhal in order to facilitate the talks of succession. He had pushed it out long enough, but after yesterday’s morning where he was unable to move his legs for two hours after waking up, he realized that he won’t be around for much longer anymore. And now there was Cryon, his sixth son, who refused to answer the summons. And Zelbar. And Martok. Three of ten who did not arrive. Bad omens. “You insolent little shits. I warn you all, if you decide to fight for this very chair once I bite the grass, I will come back from my very grave to murder you and your offspring! A civil war is NOT what we need, you hear me?” Rankor thunders at the seven who showed up, they themselves shifting back slightly, with the dozens of descendants from them lined up down the throneroom, shuddering at the surprisingly loud voice of the old patriarch. “Cryon. Zelbar. Martok. Oh, these boys, oh how can they refuse their father at this hour... I wanted to include them all! All of you! So nobody is emptyhanded! So little appreciation for all that I have done, oh these evil men, these greedy, evil men...” Rankor continued to complain, shouting rude remarks in between as his anger did not seem to subside. “Leave me at once, all of you! We will talk tomorrow, maybe then they decide to show up. I have an realm to run still!” Lord Raetia shoos away the hundred family members or so, to leave him alone with nobody but his stewards and generals. Actions The planet Hyperion (20-J) receives Heavy Industry improvements in order to supplement the construction material the Stellarchy has available for future projects. (-10,000 C, -2 B for 2 Heavy Industry Improvements for B production later on) The remainder of Credits are being kept back for another time.
  12. Starting Systems: 18J, 19J, 20J, 21J, 29J, 30J, 40J, 41J, 51J, 58J Point Distributions (21 Total): Loyalty: 4 Influence: 2 Military: 10 Leadership: 5 Infrastructure: 0 Your Stellarch (Their name + Personal backstory): Lord Rankor Raetia, Archon and Stellarch of Raetia Twohundred and fifty years of age, Lord Raetia has lived through many events, no matter no how dire. Staying alive by sheer willpower, the best current medicine can do and a substantial amount of implants and technology, he has been leading Raetia with an iron fist for the past twohundred thirty years. Rankor is his own master and that reflects quite well in his political stance. He never aligned openly with anyone, a wildcard in the senate, always willing to switch sides and shift things in his favour. While he never openly defied the Emperors, often enough Rankor was close to do just that, when policies and commands from the Core were not in his interests. But for Raetia, their biggest weakness is Rankor himself. Father of ten sons and six daughters, with countless grand- and great grandchildren, it is only him, who keeps Raetia from falling into a civil war. Let’s just say, the Diadochs (heirs) of Raetia are not best friends. Additional Characters?: This will follow and develop throughout the course of the campaign. Provincial Culture: Raetian, leaned strongly towards an alternative universe general European culture, naming conventions are more fantasy-western. Heavy industrial architecture and dystopian appearances dominate the worlds of Raetia. Nature is secondary for them, an albeit they enjoy a green meadow here and there, such luxury is only to be found on the outlying less developed worlds. The capital is a polluted dirt covered planet, where the sun shows up as often as the Emperor himself. Other than rampant industrialism, a lot does revolve around military, from the toys for boys to the armies of the Stellarchy. Human Variants?: Humans (Raetian) dominate Raetia in simple majority. Acclimated to colder environments, they are still very much identical to what Humans originally were. Unique Military Units (Two): Raetian Heavy (Heavy Infantry)– Formed by nobody else than Lord Rankor Raetia himself, the Raetian Heavy, is unsurprisingly a Heavy Infantry of one singular purpose. Concentrated massive heavy infantry full auto gauss rifle fire. In his years of reign, Rankor deployed them whenever there was unrest and uprisings, be it alien of Raetian. Whenever, the insanely numerous units of space capable power armor wearing loyal soldiers would march in and shoot everything that even moved a finger against anything the Stellarch said was law. Despite the brutality of their actions and the harsh treatment of the citizens, they became a respected (or feared, who knows) force that the Stellarch was always willing to throw into the frontlines to protect his people (and very much his own interests of course). Siege Tank (Artillery/Tank combination) – To support Raetian Heavy and in general infantry advances, the military commanders of Raetia saw fit to develop a vehicle that is capable of engaging in close range combat as well as providing indirect fire support. The Tremor-Class Siege Tank has become the staple of a preferred method of attack, where first long range shelling by the vehicles allows infantry forces to move into position, to be followed up by an assault of said infantry, directly supported by the Tremor tanks. 13. I have only now taken the time to read this over. Drfate, how severely you must have been wronged by other people to vent such a seething hatred towards an RP construct that calls itself Oren. Whilst nothing is perfect and Oren is definitely not a clean piece of paper, OOC memery and banter have always been part of not only Oren, but LotC. Deleting Oren won’t solve anything. Because the concept of Oren is simply an idea, that binds players of many colors together. You joined LotC a few days before me, you should have learned by now to take a few steps back and look at it from a more dispassionate perspective. This is not life, nor do our actions on LotC have all so much an impact in our lives (hopefully). I mean, it can be appreciated that you genuinely care for the server, but don’t let yourself get lured into a sense of ultimate responsibility. We are on this server together. And interests here and in life always conflict. Part of life is to cope with that.
  14. Salutations. Welcome to Lord of the Craft. Enjoy your stay, have a good time. Even I come back here after more than 8 years of memberships.
  15. Turn 14 Year 2214 New year, new news. A war flares up again, another is brought to negotiations. Surprisingly. Albeit many unaware of eachother’s events and doings, it will of course affect the course of history and future encounters. Sol Empire They have returned. Alarms blare throughout all military holdings in the Empire, as the news come in, Ascardian fleets have been sighted in various systems, poised for raiding and attacking. And there are quite a few of them. They appear to have recovered in the past few years. Maybe they plan on a different approach this time, instead of such an early invasion of Gaia itself. UNITED FEDERATION OF SKELLAR SYSTEMS The science team for the Itoron Armor plating reports in, that they expect completion of the related project in 10 years time. The battleship teams have achieved a few breakthroughs thanks to the scientists brought in with the additional funding (even a few from the Adaptaar and Libellans), projecting that in five years the project will be concluded. They do so, with the notion that further investments will only unlikely accelerate the project at this stage and might be a waste of funds. The team responsible for upgrading the technology for hull integrity of the all ships reports in, that they expect the project come to completion in four years, with little room for additional improvement. The civilian vessel cruises to the target destination without issue, soon to enter the home system of the Cynn. Naturally, there is bewilderment, as confused hails in foreign tongues greet them, but no warships (although a few docked and present at the primary space station in orbit around their homeworld) make any move whatsoever. Going by gestures and expressions, perhaps sounds of these fine feathered bird people, they are curious, joyful even to make a new contact. As the Skellar have not sent a warship, that certainly helped such a first impression. It is likely the Skellar have to stay at least a year before they can attempt to officially and properly communicate with the Cynn. Language remains a barrier for all. On that notion, the Libellan Union and Holy Adaptaar Commonality, through some odd channels request that they shall be kept in the loop of how first contact with the Cynn goes. More friends, you know. On a different note, and in a complete surprise, the birds from the South conduct first “diplomatic” contact with the newly formed Alliance, by using the Adaptaar language, which they have no doubt learned from the prisoners they have. They wish to enter negotiations. The Republic of Galaron [REDACTED] In a surprising turn of events, just as one of the exploration ships drops out of warp in order to enter a system and analyze it, it rams a small drone that was cruising by. The drone, coming off course and losing its drive due to the somewhat heavy impact, runs adrift. It is of unknown origin and design, however appears to be broadcasting an odd signal. A series of beeps and tones. A code perhaps?

That and the general instability of things. Exotec could not rely on neutrality alone, so much was clear, and although the Erlenfeld Ideology does not condone warfare in itself, self defense must come with the construction of a military force that is capable of defending the interests of the corporation itself. Further down the line, the research projects that are running right now, will need to become reality (through literally building these suits and objects, not just “inventing” them). The refinery for Nephilite is a must have in order to advance the Nephilite based research properly, the primary one being the downsizing of the Nephilite reactors to a dimension that makes it viable for suit application, another project that is running of course, hand in hand. And then there is space. And Schenberg. Erlenfeld has already agreed to support their research and work, possibly with the EHE Suit, or Exotec HECIS, the name has not been quite set yet, given the purpose of the suit is manifold and a bit disputed. Is it for war, or is it for exploration, or for science? That is a decision to be made when the suit has finished development. Research (Neph 10, Tech 6) (nothing new here) 2 research slots; 2 neph-tech slot Neph 1: As Nephilite reactors have become a core component for warships and Icarus and Atlas units, the downsizing of them becomes the integral question. Although the science teams of Exotec doubt that a full dependence on a material such as Nephilite might be dangerous in the future, but in the end, there is a lack of easy alternatives. Fusion perhaps? Xylorite? Don’t be silly, that’s not a thing. Is it? The goal is to achieve a reactor that can be fitted into a proposed Hazardous Enviroment suit, something another research team is dedicated to. And for that, they need a small sized Nephilite reactor to power the whole thing, as the capabilities of the suit shall be quite formidable, comparable to the Exotec Science Cruiser, just in small. (started 40 P.D., due 50 P.D.) Neph 2: The second science team dedicated to Nephilite research proceeds with exploring the option of energy and force projection based on energy extracted from Nephilite itself. Whilst not quite an exact strong point, it’s not conventional technology, projecting a forcefield. An energetic shield however may have insane appliances, from safety protocols, to combat shielding, protection against simple enviromental hazards, fire prevention! All in lieu with the Erlenfeld Ideology, the science team, led by Johanna von Erlenfeld, the CEO’s older daughter proceeds. (started 40 P.D., due 50 P.D.) Tech 1: Hand in hand as good as possible, Tech Team 1 proceeds with the kickoff for the development of the Hazardous Enviroment suit. The layout should be as follows: A heavy, perhaps quite bulky suit (at the start, slimming down in later versions) that fully protects the wearer from enviromental hazards and force. With integrated electric servomotors powered by a Nephilite reactor (Neph Team 1), it shall vastly enhance the users strength (and counteract the mobility impairment from the suit itself), as well as allowing the user to utilize a very wide array of sensors, scanners and science tools integrated into the suit to assess situations and detect the undetectable as needed. Whilst the original intention is most certainly peaceful, the Head Scientist knows very well, that such a suit might be easily used for combat as well, promoting the creation of a super-heavy infantry unit, the suits accompanied by heavy duty full automated gauss rifles. The proposal of the Exotec Hazardous Enviroment Combat Infantry Suit (Exotec HECIS) is on the desk of Friedrich von Erlenfeld and albeit he has not signed it off, he has not spoken out against it. Going by his word, proceed at your own discretion, but he shall keep an eye on it. (started 40 P.D., due 48 P.D.) Tech 2: Led by Friedrich von Erlenfeld in person, this team begins to take the first steps into creating a new space program for Exotec! Exciting! Yey! Rockets! Satellites! And stuff! Unless Exotec already has such a thing. If they do, they’d work on inventing a shuttle for manned flight for the future. Powered by Nephilite. (started 40 P.D., due 48 P.D.)

  19. Turn 13 Year 2213 The world has undergone a slight change for the observant eye. But for the single individuals it has remained the same. Another year passes with relative peace for most of the nations. While the East smoulders with the embers of war, the Northwest has found another year of respite. The South-East remains calm, and in the North-East... oh yes, that is a whole different story. Red dar Imperiad. Sol Empire Extrapolating from available data and finally having access to some fragments of star charts, the science teams are able to pinpoint the Ascardian territories. At last, mankind knows where they are. How will they reach out to them though? A counterattack on the horizon? There is still no Ascardian activity to be seen, something the Ascardian “guests” seem to take with slight concern, although despite being somewhat open to talk about daily routines and lives, they do not share what these concerns might be. Great changes? An unknown threat to the Principate? The Republic of Galaron Another quiet year. The exploration vessels conduct the assigned task with good success, charting many worlds and systems in these six sectors, but encounter nothing... extraordinary. No foreign civilization has made an appearance yet. Perhaps these other civilizations are aware of the Galaron and wish to keep their distance, or perhaps they are simply oblivious to their existence. Either way, should such a contact be hostile, this time is precious to prepare for the worst.

  21. Exotec Corporation Tired from a long day at work, Friedrich von Erlenfeld turns off his TV, leaning back on the couch in the spacious living room of his appartment in the Central Complex of Eibenstadt. The people in the Exotec Corporation, by last years counting numbering exactly 10 million, have been undisturbed throughout most of the past decades. Steadily growing, isolated, yes, but firmly, having established themselves in these mountains. “Space elevator, hm...” Friedrich murmurs. His eyes wander to the windows that give a great view of the glittering city stretching out, as well as the valley itself to the horizon. For the naked eye too far, but with a good pair of binoculars or a telescope you could spot the sea from the balcony. A faint blue line underneath the sky, the curvature of the world just allowed for that. “That might be an interesting project actually. New resources to be claimed, easier access into space, maintaining, fixing and cleaning up our satellites...” Friedrich rises from the couch, heading over to the next room, into his private office. His daughters were out in the city, with the young Magdalena finally old enough for a drink, she was invited by her older sister. Young and wild, he did expect only the best though, not too much drink, but enough to have more fun. Then again, it would not be bad to have a bad first experience, Friedrich hums bemused as he seats himself at his desk, logging into his Exotec system. “Let’s see if we can arrange something here... who is online at this late hour... Heberich? I think he might still be tinkering with his coffee machine. Oh well. Rüdenburg... Manner... Goppner... ah, Mathias is still up. Let’s give this nephew of mine a call then.” Friedrich smirked as he put in the little earpiece and selected the call button on the mentioned contact. 22. Discord Name: You have that already good sir. Nation Name: Exotec Corporation Government Type: Science Directorate Leader: Friedrich von Erlenfeld Culture: Basically German Engineering. In seriousness though, they are atheist people. Faith has no room for them, science is king. Don’t explain something you can’t explain with greater powers, use reason and investigate. History: Nestled deep in the mountains lies Exotec, a Corporate state, more a Science Directorate. Led by Friedrich von Erlenfeld, this nation is focused on neutrality, prosperity and cutting edge technology. Given its isolationist status, it was mostly untroubled by the events in the past, though still it remained a small “realm”, not expanding beyond its natural confines. This led to the nation being a small one, but rich one, technologically advanced, something the dynasty von Erlenfeld has been pursuing. In the end, despite all rights and wrongs of mankind, they were still a people in their infancy and they had to learn. Young Friedrich pursued his goals of widening the knowledge of mankind, broadening the mental horizon for them. Men and women who shared his sentiment joined him in his ventures and soon enough Exotec became what it is today. A fresh wind blows in these years and Friedrich von Erlenfeld feels ready to bring Exotec out of isolation and take a stance on the world stage. The fate of millions rest upon his shoulders, but he is ready to take the risks necessary to pursue what is best for mankind. Groups or places of interest: The Erlenfeld family Numbering a few hundred with all branches deriving from Graf Augustin von Erlenfeld, a tinker and inventor early on, the Erlenfelds have always proven to be able scientists and administrators (most of them became such). Now Exotec is manned by Erlenfelds in the majority of leading positions, although they have never shunned letting outsiders join in, when they could bring knowledge and skill on board. The family’s patriarch is nobody else than Friedrich von Erlenfeld himself, who is a descendant in direct lineage to the founder of the family. Eibenstadt Capital of the “Exotec” nation. Seat of the Erlenfeld family. Key Figures: Friedrich von Erlenfeld (51 years old) Leadership 8, Martial Skill 1, Charisma 2, Agility 1 Head Scientist and Owner of Exotec. Aging steadily, but sharp eyes and a keen mind that have allowed him to grow and expand Exotec to what it is today, with a clear goal in mind for the future. Johanna von Erlenfeld (23 years old) Leadership 5, Martial Skill 1, Charisma 5, Agility 1 Older daughter of Friedrich Erlenfeld. A scientist and engineer like her father. Has shown enough promise that there is no doubt about her succeeding her father at some point in the future. Magdalena von Erlenfeld (16 years old) Leadership 2, Martial Skill 4, Charisma 3, Agility 3 Younger daughter of Friedrich Erlenfeld. Albeit being educated in the ways of science, she prefers running the outdoor track at every free minute, exercising whenever possible. Makings of a pilot. They are travelling the very lively northwestern access road to the outer rings of Ossocchi Appachaqui, the city of the skies, the capital city of the Chimuquera and the Pachaqui Kingdom, of which he is the head of. It is his 40th birthday and the King can barely contain himself. Finally he is able to see his family again, his sons, his daughters, his wife, old friends and of course Archpriest Solameqan, his old mentor. Who is not faring all too well in the past months from the news, as he is advancing steadily in years. A sharp mind, but a body that is losing the battle against time. “At some point it will be the same for me.” Thonaqan thinks to himself. “I ought to prepare everything the best I can for Qhapaq. He must not carry my burdens. I hope that he may have a reign of pure peace and prosperity, all in the way Mama-Pacha intended.” They pass through the gate, the warriors saluting, and within moments people recognize who just returned from the distant seas of grass. Cheering, shouting, calling their neighbours, children running up and down the street. “The King is back, the King has returned! King Thonaqan walks amongst us again! Long live the King!” Mentioned King turns to a nearby warrior who is riding besides him: “It is almost, as if we had already won. But alas, it is not.” Quiet, but smiling and waving he proceeds higher and higher up the city, to finally unsaddle in front of the palace complex. A few steps remained to see his family once again. “Water?” Solameqan is confused at first, eyeing up the Acolyte who is wet from top to bottom. “She summoned a tidal wave in the lower levels of the palace?” – “Yes, out of thin air it appeared!” – “Well, she is getting older, but I did not expect such gifts to manifest. It was merely Earthen elements at first, this is new. I must talk to her. We need to get her to master her gifts better. Nobody drowned, yes?” – “No, nobody.. there weren’t many servants about at that time and Qhapaq and Domaquetan were with their teachers, Limiqua with the Queen in the throne room.” – “Good, good. Let’s go have a chat with our wonderchild.” Solameqan rises from his study chair, where he was pondering the relic texts on the ancient stone tablets of Mama-Pacha, grabs his walking cane and proceeds to venture forth across the central courtyard, from the Archpriest’s domain to the palace itself. “Water. Curious. For a people of the Earth.” he can’t help but think to himself. Actions: As per decree of the young King, new farmland must be prepared to acommodate the growing demand of food by the steadily growing population. So far the Chimuquera had no issue with their nutrition, but the King does not intend to have it become a matter. (0 Quti for 0 farms) The substantial sum of 27,000 Quti is being hauled off through the safe routes to markets far beyond the Pachaqui Kingdom. The receipient is the Chicathoc Empire, who in turn are providing weapon-ready steel and supplies for the Kingdom. (-27,000 Quti to aforementioned, receiving 18 AP) Upon return of King Thonaqan from the West, he immediately proceeds to give out orders to his warmasters and leaders. Massive amounts of supplies and warriors must journey west to complete the next step in what they have started. 10 Keeps are added at the new dividing line of the South. (-20 AP; -80,000 Quti) An additional 10 AP and 20,000 Quti are invested into erecting a thick, tall, walkable wall that connects the Keeps and castles, turning the former into quasi bastions/watchtowers. (-10 AP, -20,000 Quti; MOD) 1,500 Regular T3 Plumed Archers (-3 AP, -18,000 Quti) Two singular civilian district are constructed in Chanimaquan to support the growing population of the city with additional jobs, as well as offer new opportunities for business ventures. (-13,500 Quti for 2 CDs) Following the incident, Archpriest Solameqan sees fit to invest into better care and additional training for the young Chimiqua, to help her master her gifts and abilities as quickly and as good as possible. (-3,000 Quti for Princess Chimiqua; 2,500 last year; MOD) The remaining Quti, rectangular chips of gold are being stored in the treasury of Osocchi Appachaqui, in order to save it for the coming year, where coin might become much more needed. (-425 Quti) The magic studies for the acolytes and priests focus solely on Chimiqua’s growing powers. (Started 883) Past Studies: The summoning and hurling of boulders becomes the next objective for the acolytes and clergy of the Kingdom. Thus far, the ones with the gifts of Mama-Pacha had little methods of ranged abilities, something Archpriest Solameqan agreed with the Warmistress to pursue, as need might very well arise. Naturally, the skill and focus invested into the spell should determine the size and velocity of the earthen object. (Passive, started 880, due 883; now concluded) The next spell is to be named Bindings of the Sand. A spell that should be capable of rooting a person with magic sands to a location, hindering his ability to move, speak or perform magic altogether. In a sense they imagine it to be required if they ever have to seal something away that can not be killed by normal means. (Started 876; due in 880 as T2; now concluded) Rapid winds can cause duststorms. But instead of relying on winds with the power of will grains of sand might be moved with a lack of them. A magical sandstorm is the goal of the new magical pursuits of the Archpriest, something to conceal movement or hinder enemy advances. (Passive, started 872, due in 874 as T1; concluded) Urged on by the King’s request (and of course the funding that comes along with it), the blacksmiths and artisans of the Pachaqui Kingdom continue in developing the right arms and armor for the coming Mountain Lion Warriors. (-45,000 Quti & 10 AP for Heavy Infantry; 15,000 Quti last year; now concluded) As the impaling spikes spell is concluded the next project for the priests of the Chimuquera is to elaborate on a spell that may mend cracks and damages in stone, as well as reinforce it against impacts and further damage through tremors, impacts and other less mundane means. Reinforce Stone and Earth shall it be named. (Passive, started 868, due in 872 as T2; now concluded) In the meantime, the Archpriest Solameqan orders the exploration of the gifts of Mama-Pacha, the powers she has bestowed upon the Chimuquera. The subject shall be the rapid formation of rock spikes out of the ground in a straight line from the caster, to impale approaching enemies. Whilst it seems cruel, it is essential that the Chimuqueran people have the means to protect themselves properly. (Passive study, year 4, due 868; now concluded)
  24. Turn 12 Year 2212 A moment of respite for all warring factions mark this year. Northwest, the Ascardians have not made a new move yet, but it is likely they are plotting something. In the East, after being decisively beaten, the Keerim now beset on two sides have switched into a defensive stance, not yet entering into negotiations, but withdrawing from the offensive. Who knows what might come next for them. UNITED FEDERATION OF SKELLAR SYSTEMS Following the decisive defeat of the Keerim at Dekiptaar, new momentum has come into the war, as the Adaptaar with their newfound allies are able to turn the tables onto their Southern foes. For the remainder of the year, no major raids and assaults have been launched by the bird menace, as they are simply out of available ships to conduct such operations. Now on the backfoot and on defence, they also appear to be oddly occupied by something. Nobody can put their finger on it yet. The scientists report in, that they were able to finally conclude the basic research into Itoron for its chemical and physical properties. It’s a highly dense metal, that shows to have incredible hardness. An alloy with steel or aluminium or perhaps even pure carbon could prove to give it more flexibility whilst retaining most of its practical resistance as a material. Following the purchase of a Fusion reactor from the Zruki Zruki merchant, the scientists finally conclude the whole project, also stating that they could easily (given knowledge and practical object) replicate the improved reactor (T2) in just four years now. The battleship team reports 11 years to go. Tjieran Unitary State The Tjieran warships return, having plundered from these foreign people, taking quite a few civilian prisoners during that. Needless to say, retaliation might be on the horizon. As there are technological breakthroughs for the Tjieran scientists in the fields of Fusion engines and ground troop weaponry, they report in the estimated dates for the completion of the other newly started research projects. Heavy Cruisers may come to fruition in 14 years. As for Civilian Industry, the optimization of production processes, work times have always been a topic. No ETA on that. Sol Empire The scientists (with help of some prisoners) make good headway in learning the language and writing system of the Ascardians. What you learn is that their nation is named the Ascardian Principate. The computer systems however a tough to crack, with the Ascardian guests unwilling to cooperate for that matter. Elsewhere, at last undisturbed by Ascardian interference, two exploration vessels find a world that is very reminiscient of Earth in one of the solar systems of said sector. The planet is massive, at roughly 1G, lower density, and populated by a peaceful fauna and flora. Quite literally, as if it was to be a second Earth. The Ascardians have not returned this year, perhaps they are preparing something. Be watchful. The Republic of Galaron Nothing very notable, aside from the usually diverse and teeming habitable worlds, is found in those sectors. In general, this year around the exploration vessels encounter absolutely nothing, no space animals, no foreign realms, nothing. The named Karrass Dominion is quite far, but should be in range for ships. Odd. The Heavy Cruiser technology is due to be finished 3 years earlier now, thanks to the investment from the government. Once concluded, this should add ample firepower to the fleets of the Republic, to defend their interests at home and in the sea of stars. Zyrka Republic The campaigns against corruption seem to pay off. Funds are shuffled, places are cleaned out, “offshore” accounts blocked and purged, corrupt officials and scientists incarcerated. In the end, the slimmed down and streamlined science teams report that everything is now properly back on track, with all projects to be concluded two years earlier.
