  1. I’ll throw my hat in with Phil here. While I at one point might have been vehemently against introducing weaponry of this kind to the server, I came to a change of heart after looking over the emote counts compared to already existing magics and other such things as bows/crossbows. The only real change here is aesthetic – and one I think would be an overall benefit to the server. I consider us medium fantasy, having been a member of the lore team for some time, and when you consider that, and look at other settings with the inclusion of guns (I’m looking at Faerun in 5e primarily) the elves still frolic, the peasants still dig mud for a living, and the wizards still have their floating castles. This adds a new avenue to pursue in rp for craftsmiths, alternatives to learning purely offensive magics such as arcanism (I need my protection!) for weaker characters, so on and so forth. All and all, its been a long time coming, but in its current state I’m alright with what we got here.
  2. (IC) Name: Arzota Shadeleaf – Des’nox Age: Later third century Gender: Male Do you intend to learn, or do you perform, any sort of Voidal or Deific art? Which? I’m knowledgeable in transfiguration. Do you accept that in joining this order you may at times be tasked with taking the life of another mali’ker? Entirely. Do you accept that under particular circumstances you may be removed from the order? And under serious enough terms, executed? Honor my name at least with a fair trial. (OOC) MC Name: You know it. Discord: You have it.
  3. Im aware, however I wanted to make sure that was clear just incase future posts came up citing this as previous experience and research. More of a precaution.
  4. (Nothing included in any of these posts is endorsed by the LT. Make of that as you will.)
  5. Question - why is, in the tiers section, Astra stored as gallons, while in the ability descriptions its quantified just as 'Astra'. How much Astra in a gallon? Does it mix well with fruit juice, or is it a chaser?
  6. ((Small OOC note: This might be the best way to PK a ton of people in one sitting possible since death in an immortal realm well... does that. I wish you all luck. Theres also the fact there no way for y'all to actually enter the fey realm unless your druids under groups of three so that also might be a slight kink in the plans here friends))
  7. You cant just put snow in-front of something and call it a new race. Its a culture that's been around for less than a millennia. Snow elves were a mistake, don't do this. [This is my personal opinion and not indicative of any other LT opinions on this topic]
  8. Well I just read through 7 pages of repeated vouching and arguments. Lets make it 8. Guns, something I never really thought that fit into LOTC (read till' the end, this **** is a preface). After about 6 years on here with breaks every so often, I can say with certainty that a lot of my reasoning was unfounded however, and the same holds for the arguments presented in this thread. Currently, it seems as if the arguments against this lore can be sorted into the 'we don't need this theres enough already' or 'it makes no sense lore wise' camps. Note before moving forward, very few people have expressed an issue with the actual lore written, or the substance therein - its good lore people, now I'll try to give you all an idea of this is a good idea. Where were you when the first dwarven air-born division glided into battle to Ride of the Valkyries? Personally, I was laughing my ass off watching it take place from the sidelines, however I know that the people who planned, and were victim to that attack never forgot the innovation that came around that day. This community has no shortage of innovation, which carries over to characters when appropriate. For the last 6 years we've been tech locked, while arguably progressing further in magic and alchemy than would ever be rply possible. The characters who facilitate alchemical reactions and brews are some of the most scientific around in the way they operate, and for that reason I'm of the belief that the concept of a 'boom stick gun thing' would have most certainly made it into the minds of those characters by now, and rather quickly established given the current state of alchemy. Since its pretty easy to establish a reason for these things being around lore wise, lets consider why adding alchemical boom sticks wouldn't be the end of the world for magic users and general rpers. Much as magic rp is a quite exclusive thing, not just anyone and their mother is going to be able to get their hands on a rifle, infact I expect that rifle rp is going to stay a very tight knit group with a few tangent cases. Now while the whole concept of exclusivity is another argument entirely, so far with group based magics its worked quite well, and when you consider the roll based system being presented here, the ability to power-game a rifle is going to be damn near impossible in practice. I'm of the belief that giving individuals in the alchemy profession a viable option for long range combat in the same vein as magic however not directly utilizing the void would also allow for some interesting characters to come about as well, and lift the restriction of alchemical being a mainly utilitarian craft. With all of this said, I'm confident that the addition of this lore to current game-play won't make anyone's rp dissipate, or harm the fragile sensibilities of the mage or warrior rp communities. Instead I believe this will provide an interesting alternative specialization for those entrenched in alchemy rp, and further push a drive of innovation and creativity among the player base. This man writes good lore, lets get it implemented.

  12. I'm sorry but this lore has been denied. The main reason for this is due to the anguel's minuscule following, providing a GREAT deal of strength to a very small group -- furthermore, another itheral like creature does not seem to be supported by the lore team. More on the topic, the transition described is also mechanically impossible - as switching from spectre to a descendant race cannot be accomplished via our current racial system.

  17. A very old, very decidly tired dark elf sets something next to the fliers for any who may see them. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is not Salvus. Salvus, is not Salvus. Salvus ended only with James Hightower, and again with Arron Bedevere... anything further is not much more than a desperate grab for power under the guise of an political entity long dead and buried. The Hightower we see here is an imposer. as Kyral bore James no children which to this day are relevant, nay even live. If this does not sway your mindset simply remember, denizens of the land, what the Shields were to the Salvian city of KIngston. A joke designed with the best of intentions achieving the lowest rung of success one may ever hope to achieve. This is what will become of this organization, if even it deserves such a name. With no backing from kindgom nor true force, clinging only to a name fallen into irrelevance, these Shields will go the way of the Old Lance, into disparity and inactive squalor. It was the wish of the great James that Salvus not be allowed to fall into the filth that we see today, and if it was not Arron to rule than it should be none at all. Follow not this bastard taking the name of 'Hightower', that ship has sailed and sailed again. Let the once great name of Slavus rest peacefully, remembered for Dawn's Bakery, and the lively town center among its accomplishments. Let it die. -Ex-Kings Guard and Elysian Okeas under James Hightower.
  18. Far off in a not so distant ruin which by this point almost everyone knows about due to previous conflict... A very peculiar coven sits about a stone table atop a mountain plateau, shining blue eyes complimenting smiling teeth, sharp as daggers. Their guest was unusual, but surely could not be ignored, and with much pleasure they spoke for some time with him. It was only upon his bid farewell did the coven begin to feel the churning excitement of such a prospect of Salvian defeat... "Time has come again for them to feel our wrath once again." "And this time! This time it'll be the last!" "Well girls, best get to work... They'll not go down as easily as last time. Get your coats on." With full minds and empty stomachs, the coven went about their plotting and merriment. The coming days would not be calm, nothing more than death would sate the frozen beings of the north... and there was plenty of that to be had in the soon to be bloodied city of Salvus.
