Elya was born in Markev to poor parents. Her mother worked as a housemaid for some of the more wealthy people in town and her father picked up work wherever he could hunting or at the butchers. Elya spent most of her childhood on the streets while her parents worked. She learned the tactics to survive from other kids on the street, and often reverted to stealing in order to get a little extra food. When she turned 13 her father taught her to hunt and it became both her escape and a way to make extra money. Her father was a very religious man who praised the Church of Canon every minute, but Elya thought the church always could’ve done more to help people in poverty. After years of poverty and street life Elya became a more closed off resentful person who struggled to trust people. When she turned 17 she left home and attempted to move to Belvitz only to turn around half way and make her way back to Markev. Elya now spends most of her days as a make shift “mercenary”, carrying not much past her bow and a long dagger, hunting and traveling looking for anyway to make money and get a drink.
