  1. Nice job, once all the kinks are worked out of this new system it sounds like it offers more than the older one. Also bravo putting colored chat back behind a paywall, actually though I think it was a good move from a server standpoint for a multitude of reasons. That being said maybe having a test server over the past week then implementing it after some fixes may have been a better idea instead of using the main public server as a guinea pig.

Would be an extremely responsible pick for the global moderator team. I can only predict positive growth based on Wendigo's past contributions to the server, and I believe he would be indefatigable in his work ethic. He is both scrupulous and shrewd, amazing traits in a productive global moderator.

    Thanks James, I appreciate it.

Wendigo, I'm sure you already know my opinion about you already, and I rarely ever comment on people's staff apps unless I genuinely think they have great potential for the role. You have such amazing potential for this role, and I could see you doing some real good for the server with this position. Just remember to keep up that activity ?

Thank you Wrynn that means alot. As for the activity concerns, yes I'll admit it's a valid concern for those who are reviewing my app. If they ask me to re-apply in a few months after I've shown I can be active I wouldn't have any qualms. That being said I don't foresee myself becoming inactive like previously unless some extenuating family circumstances, which my most previous hiatus was about, happens again.

    Discord: Wendigo #1590

What map did you join during?: Can't recall the map but it was May of 2013

Do you have access to a Microphone? Yes

Average Daily Play Time? That's..tough to answer, anywhere from 2-6 hours?

Have you held any LotC staff position(s) before? If so, for how long?: FM and FM Manager, I was on and off the team due to shipping out/training but that won't be an issue for at least the next 2 years. I was accepted as an FM in January of 2015 and had to leave that summer for training, I was re-accepted in September. Once more I had to leave due to personal reason but was accepted again in August 2016. Sometime during that summer I was given the role of manager. I left sometime in August of 2017. My dates may be off but I believe them to be correct. I can link my apps if needed.

Do you have prior history in any forms of moderation?

As stated above I have experience in forum managing but during 2017 I was part of a team of 5 admins heading up an Arma Squad. 90% or so of the members were retired vets or active military, and I want to believe that my time with them helped me mature and see things from new perspectives.

Why do you want to join the GM Team?:

I'm at a point in time on the server that I feel like I'm truly ready to actively help the community in every way I can. As an FM I'd like to think I spent just as much if not more hours than most actively reading through the contents of each and every single post and argument which gives me a valid perspective on looking into not only what I believe to be the right thing to do, but the opposite perspective as well and taking both sides into account. I do my best to be as impartial as possible and I really believe that's one of my strongest traits. Don't get me wrong, I've had my failings in the past but I like to believe I've learned from them and I'm a better person for that. I'd like to believe my professional attitude whilst in the FM Team was another strong suit I had. I can be a kid at times as we all are, but when it comes to doing a job or a task I put my upmost focus and effort towards it.

Have you applied for this position before and been denied? If so, link the application:

Anything else you want to tell us?:

I'm not looking for plus one, or a 'cool dude'. I'm looking for active criticism of what you think would make me a good or bad addition to the team. Thanks for your consideration and I'm look forward to your comments or post.

Okay thank you for the clarification. Your answer definitely boosted my already high confidence in the admins and teams and I hope you're aware I wasn't trying to put you on the defensive with these posts. Most of us want what's best for the server and sometimes our strong feelings for it get in the way of proper reasoning.

Best of luck with everything else that's going on.

  5. Thanks @501warheadfor the speedy response.

If there was some way to ensure all admins could feel heard and a part of the team while minimizing delays it'd be my dream to pursue it personally, but it's hard to consider a system that allows it. If all decisions are made by three out of five members of a team then the two that are left out will grow bitter. It sometimes happens still where I know some admins have or do vote a way that they don't want to vote because they feel pressured but the intent is to try to leverage out opinions.

I think it's important to go over this paragraph. I think it's time to consider a system to allow it for the betterment of the server and its overall health and growth. It's unacceptable to have a member of team who's sole purpose is to vote on things he or she feels pressured in or out of especially when one of those members is disconnected from the server. I'M NOT typing this to try and get someone removed, I said in previous post that I actively believe you're both contributing members of the team. However when a contributing member is only contributing because he/she feel pressured but the intent is to leverage opinions, what's really going on?

at times it does mean that I tend to argue against popular community opinion, especially if there is a reason to do so.

I'm not going into Nexus, or voting for mina as I believe those were both good decisions.

Do you take a step back however and try to listen to other admins opinions or even ask the GM team on the community opinion, and if yours is so drastically divergent from theirs maybe it's time to take a look at it from our perspective instead of your opinion of what SHOULD be done?

Edit: I mentioned this in the drama thread last night but do you guys have a medium of communication outside of lotc and discord for 'emergencies' like this? Say...texting or facebook.

  6. Thanks Wrynn, it was good to see a post from an inside perspective. That being said there were a few things that seriously have me worried and it seems you confirmed them.

I'd like to start off with 501. From my experience I actually like 501. He does seem driven to help the server, and has even helped me with a project concerning plug-ins, which I actually just started working on again due to my hiatus. That being said something, which I'm sure can be generalized, that he said has me very concerned.

"The community doesn't know what they want.

Granted, this can be very true at times for a business which LotC is. The consumer may not know what they want until it comes out, like a new addition on a phone. In some instances it's absolutely necessary for the admins to put down the hammer otherwise nothing will get done I know that. Believe it or not I used to run a community of my own, not as large as this but pretty respectable at the time and not in minecraft. It was 95% adults with 100+ members.  That being said it can be very easy as someone higher up in the food chain to forget how you got there. The process, the 'struggle', and more importantly the people who supported you through the way.  From what I've seen and read from you though who I trust sincerely, 501s actions have me extremely worried. He actively fights for things that HE thinks is right when the community says otherwise. He won't see reason or another perspective and will actively argue or defend his even when you and/or other admins disagreed. You as the community admin went to him probably on multiple occasions with community feedback and you were either ignored or given a passing glance in his eyes. This further shows not only 501s disconnection from the playerbase but ALSO from other admins. Correct me if I'm wrong please.

Telanir. Wow he's been around forever and although I haven't really directly interacted with him, he seems like a nice guy. But how can an admin who isn't active on the server make proper decisions concerning it. So in my eyes I see only 3 Admins that we are aware of that are currently active. That doesn't seem like enough. He's the chairmen and has a say in new members for the administration but also current issues that are connected with the server. In my eyes from a business perspective him having a vote for server related things when he's not been online and only reading the forums, which isn't always true to reality as we're aware, has me SERIOUSLY concerned. As a member of the administration you not only want to have a connection with the playerbase, you NEED to have one. I have no problem with Telanir making decisions on new members because in my eyes he's done a pretty damn good job thus far, but as a admin who has a say in the going ons of the inner workings of the server who isn't actively participating in it has me concerned. In order to speed things up for not only the admin team but the server as a whole he should as a chairmen be excused from votes concerning the server or be used as an UNBIASED tie break voter since he's not too active. He may disagree and and once again please correct me if wrong.

So to sum things up, Dear 501 and Telanir,

I don't know if you'll bother reading this or taking me seriously but the Admin team as a whole, whether you're in the right or wrong concerning whats going on, has some serious damage control to get working on. I tend to er on the side of defending you as the server is still here, we're not dying, but we're certainly 'sick' in the sense of we have some issues that need to be addressed. I'm actively asking you to respond to this post, and talk to me in a constructively criticizing manner. We're all adults here, and human non-the less and I'd like to think I'm a member of this community who actively cares and wants to see it succeed. I'd be more than willing to help with my small but respectable business and community experience. I really don't know what else to say, I'd even hop into voice chat with you guys.

    Sincerely,

    Austin

With what you're explaining, this would occur. The players would be out of rolls and be unable to continue on. If you had the place surrounded in rp and they decided to just run away. Either the players would be tpd back for trying to roleplay or you could down the players. If they turned around and downed you that would be pugsy and be punished accordingly. To simplify. The heist is all roleplay until the guards or whoever catches the heisters calls pvp. The people heisting are not allowed to just pvp when they are caught. I hope that makes sense.

It does, was this a recent rule addition? I can assume not. So if that's the case players need to be better watched along with gms policing said players better. Hopefully that type of stuff doesn't occur anymore.

Read the rules for combat. If one member of your party is attacked and guards declare pvp, only that player is in pvp. He can keep the guards busy well the others keep heisting.

I'm only putting in my 2 cents. There were at least 3 gms involved and nothing was done. There weren't guards involved. There were 2 people heisting in one home. They both ran out as 5 of us got the place surrounded. They ran away and two of us chased them. They turned around, attacked, and downed us. That's literally what happened.

Like I said take that information as you will but that's my only experience with heists and it was quite frankly disgusting at the time. I could care less now and I don't see how that rule pertains to this instance, perhaps you can explain it better?
