    Spoiler

Here are some out-of-character citations. As much as I am a real-life spoken word poet, all poetry is ultimately derivative. Therefore, I find it prudent and moral to cite my inspirations, especially in the context of writing this as fiction for my character in roleplay to publish. Thanks for reading!

    • ONCE UPON A TIME...'s inspiration comes from a wonderful Nigerian poet, Gabriel Okara.
    • YE RIVER GUARDS US! is inspired by a British poet, Mark Heathcote.
    • IN THE DAYS OF YORE...'s inspo is centered on the theme of brothers fighting brothers in war (e.g., US war for independence). Specifically, this poem by Francis Duggan about the US civil war was a source of inspiration.

The key word here is inspired. What I do, as many other poets do, is pull up 10-20 poems we like while writing. We scour them for styles, rhyming schemes, thematic elements, etc. Then, we get cooking, and from our cauldron emerges the final product, eventually, after lots of coffee.

Everyone keeps doing their best to live by moral precepts which the majority of the population concur upon.

@Afrodescendiente   can explain this concept far better than I can, but for me, my primary moral precept is simple.

How do we maximize everyone ever being able to maintain wellness?

THE GREAT CHRONICLE OF THE PETRINE LAUREL

    or: THE RIVERBOOK

    image.thumb.png.531490c000b0e9a25a04e3d7790e56e0.png

    CHAPTER I. The Republic's Founders

THERE CAN BE NO GREAT NATION WITHOUT ITS HEROES. The birth of modern chivalry is Imperial, dated to the birth of the Order of the Lion in that First Empire that has so ascended to myth. The histories tell of our Exalted ancestor granting their great generals lands as large as kingdoms, their favored soldiers stout keeps in the riverlands and tall towers in the mountains. Thus began the age of the nobility, and a vision beyond the Bakery-Queen of Salvus and the Nomad-King of Seventis.

This age has persisted nearly four centuries, and in that time we have seen its true sin; that in hoping to preserve the greatness of family names, just as many truly worthy individuals have been stoppered before they could begin, their legends stifled in the crib. The Commonwealth was founded upon ideals beyond the name of a House and its past territories, claimed in the present by hedonists and locusts. In this tome is honored the river-knights past and present, those that have built for themselves a legacy and for Our nation a greater future.

Thus Our deliverance thereafter is the legacy of the Founders of the Republic.
