    Naztherak and Inferis lore, but I’m also very familiar with Azdrazi and Frost Witch lore, as well as generally familiar with Automaton lore!

    Not a whole lore piece by myself, but I’ve helped with consultation, brainstorming, and writing with some of the recent rewrites— mainly the Azdrazi one.

    In all honesty I won’t deny the fact that I think certain people on the LT are hard to agree with, but that doesn’t mean I won’t get along with them!

    Briefly explain the lore behind this construct or creature:

    Animii, or more commonly Automatons, are constructs created with intricate internal skeletons, even more intricate clockwork organs, alchemical fluids, and some form of casing which could be made of any sort of inorganic material. Tubes and vessels are weaved through the skeleton of sorts, and are filled with the aforementioned alchemical fluid to give the Animii a source of life-- it’s akin to blood, aside from the fact that it cannot clot. Thus, if these tubes were cut and most of their fluids were lost, the Animii would shut down, and die. An important part of an Animii is its heart-- a beating attachment made of cogs, vessels, and springs, and if the Animii so desires, it can ‘overclock’ the heart in order to increase its efficiency. However, if this is done for too long, the Animii can face heavy exhaustion for up to two hours-- or even worse, it can die. Along with a heart, an Animii can be given a brain, the intelligence of it depending on how many times it’s been folded. This is due to the extra surface area the folds create, which then allows more fluid to be stored there. Alchemical reagents can be added to create the Animii’s personality, as well as to help form different senses such as seeing, hearing, smell, etc. The overall creation of an Animii can deviate from just a humanoid form, but the bigger it is, the more organs, tubes, and fluids it requires.

    Summarize the Lore of this magic:

              Naztherak is the art of controlling the power of Inferi and binding the demonic creatures to one’s court by means of taming the sheer chaos that they embody; the word Naztherak translating directly into ‘false prince’ in its language, Ilzakarn. Inferi are beings of chaos and destruction-- to tame one, a Prince must defeat it in combat, and once the Inferi is indeed defeated, they will be bound in the Prince’s grimoire with the help of a declared name, and chains made of malflame; a Prince’s greatest weapon-- demonic, cruel fire that burns at the soul of whoever’s poor flesh it may come into contact with. It doesn’t emit heat or light, and its color depends on the caster.

              When an Inferis is captured, they won’t have any semblance of power in order to go against the Prince’s word, and if one of them really wanted to, the Prince could simply-- and permanently-- kill their Inferis. Thus, they remove them from their court, and can, at some point, find another to replace it. However, in order to to do these things, a Prince must utilize something known as ‘Maleus’, which is an energy composed of warped Soul Essence-- the main thing that all Princes use for their practice and is also what all Infernal Souls are composed of. Maleus can be put into any ichor-like substance and turn into an ink called ‘Rakir’, which directly translates to ‘ink’ in the Infernal language.

              A Prince can store their maleus in something called a ‘Cistern’. The cistern can be any sort of container, ranging from things the size of lanterns, to the size of kegs-- though the latter isn’t quite as portable. Maleus doesn’t hold a definite amount of volume, so the amount that can be stored is infinite-- however, it’s not a strong object, and can be smashed or destroyed with ease. Unfortunately, the built up Maleus that was inside of it would dissipate, for the substance needs a physical object in order to store it.

              Eventually, a Prince will develop a ‘malice’ after a long while of honing their art-- Havoc, Lies, Revolt, Temptation, Woe, Desolation, Agony, Madness-- each of these malices have different effects on the Prince’s malflame; some may explode, and some may even turn malflame into a blunt force. In order to acquire an additional malice, the Prince must consume the head of a Zentherak-- beings that are said to be the strongest Inferi, with massive amounts of power. Once a Prince defeats one of these greater beings, they will undergo a metamorphosis and be granted said Zentherak’s malice, permanently warping their soul in order to transform into a Zar’akal, or ‘Twisted King’ in common. The Arch Prince would essentially become a self sustaining source of Maleus, and would no longer need their Cistern-- unless for large amounts.

     

    Write up a lesson that your character would give to a student:

              It was dark when Bleuet and her newly acquired apprentice hiked through a wooded area in the south, the only light guiding the two of them being that of the moon and the stars. They trudged through the snow and fallen pine needles, Bleuet idly tapping away at the back of her fanciful and worn grimoire with gloved fingers as she did so.

              Eventually, when Bleuet found a forgotten and long-dead firepit, she turned to face her apprentice, and gestured to it. Through chattering teeth, she said, “Make a fire.”

              Equally freezing, the apprentice nodded, and reached for their own grimoire-- which looked much cleaner than their mentor’s-- before flipping a few pages into it to stare at the recently taught spell. With a wary gaze, they placed their hand atop the scrawled rakir, and attempted to will their malflame into existence. “Rok’nar’osh,” they chanted, and so too did summon a small, coin-sized ember.

              “What-- what now?” They asked, glancing between the sickly, entirely lightless flame, and Bleuet.

              “Light the fire, dimwit,” she retorted, a sliver of a smirk drawing her lips upwards. The apprentice tried to follow her order, and flicked the ember into the pit-- though it did nothing but fizzle and die. “Do you know why that simply won’t work?” Bleuet inquired, to which her student shook their head. “Our malflame-- it needs something with a soul to burn. Ashes don’t have that-- at least, not these.” The apprentice nodded along to the lecture, staring down at the lack of a fire as they pulled their hands up to their arms, trying to keep themselves at least a little bit warm.

              “... What are you waiting for? You’ve not even gathered kindling.” She gave a dismissive hand gesture, before using said hand to open up her oversized satchel. There, a small black cat poked its head out, with a candle and matchbox in its maw. Bleuet promptly grabbed the items, and looked back to her apprentice. “Well? Get to it.”

    Word of the dastardly woman’s death spread quickly enough-- Elle picked up on it during a short visit to the market. It was a cause for at least a sliver of sadness; after all, she was technically related to her. Hastily, the big-eared elf gathered her groceries and departed. Upon getting home, she’d inform her husband, stomping away the snow on her boots as she spoke.

     

    "Did you hear? Kypris is dead."

     

    Looking up from his book, Asher didn't seem entirely concerned. "Oh?"

     

    "I can't imagine how Cela feels..."

     

    "A pity."

     

    "Truly."

     

    And that was the end of their brief discussion on the matter, the pair obviously not wanting to dwell on such a morbid thing.
