Whilst they are not known for their window-making, the Warlai family has taken up the job, freeing themselves from their old Jewelry profession and stepping out into a new age!

Sitting with Princess Catherine in the Imperial Palace, Phineas recieves the news from a servant boy in passing. He is shocked, for he thought Vanessa was attacked by Baron Marbrand, whom the Emperor had locked away in the Palace.

With the stained glass window of the Imperial Office broken, Phineas Warlai and Vanessa Longridge guide Princess Catherine Francesca out onto a ledge, holding her with each arm. Hearing swords clanging and clattering together in the background and the door's of the Office being hammered at, they quickly nudge the distraught princess along, winding around towers and balconies.  A man shouts a few words at them, but they continue on, weapons drawn to shield their Princess from any harm. 

They jump from the Palace battlements onto the roof of  the Tax Office, then jump between townhouses and manors until they reach the Painted Gate. "Did we lose them," Phineas asks Vanessa. "For now," she nods, "But we need to hide the Princess. Those killers are still at large.!" She turns to lead them back toward the city, but Catherine in hesitant. After some reassuring words and swearing of oaths, she nods quietly and goes with them, taking back alleyways to reach Vanessa's place of employment, the Felsen Medical Clinic. "You will be safe here," Vanessa reassures her, "But you mustn't leave until we tell you. They will kill you just for being Emperor John's sister." Phineas smiles to the Princess, the woman still in tears, and seats her in a secret area of the Clinic, where only Vanessa and Phineas can get access to.

Hours later, after learning the fate of John Sigismund, Vanessa and Phineas return to find Catherine reading a book, perhaps a diary or a holy scripture. "My lady," the boy kneels, "His Imperial Majesty...has been killed." His eyes open wide as Catherine turns to look at the two, her eyes growing wide, then filling with tears. "I will go fetch the guard to escort you back to the Palace, my lady." Vanessa says, before exiting the room.

Phineas goes to offer her a handkerchief to dry her eyes with, which she accepts meekly. "Princess, don't fear, for your sister Eleanor is safe. Your brother, Alexander, will be here soon as well." He nods, but then his face goes still. "I have...," he pauses, "I haven't heard anything about the Commandant, though."  Her head snapped around at that, her face almost filled with a sort of anger. She waves the boy away, turns back to her book and seemingly continues to read. It is only when he goes to guard the door and looks over his shoulder, that he notices tears hitting the tan pages of the book.

(OOC): And there we have it! This is myself (JoelTheGinger) and LamentofShadow's account of our experience of what we're calling "The Storming of The Imperial Palace". Since Princess Catherine (DreamInSpace) disconnected during the storming, John Sigismund (dibliusmaximus/Cracker) gave us permission to continue the story without her, seemingly leading around an invisible princess. We hope to pick up the RP later tonight, March 18th, to escort the Princess back to the Palace and hopefully earn some thanks for saving her from Ivar Letholdus' murderous kin! ;-)

Phineas Warlai winces at the thought of Emperor John's murder, but remains calm for Princess Catherine Francesca, whom he saved from the killers and is clearly distraught. "We must go back to the Palace now, Princess," he says, "Your brother Alexander will be joining you there soon!"

So, for anyone in NYC today, March 15th, there will be TWO events in the city held in honor of the Game of Thrones Season 5 Blu-ray Release! In Union Square, there will be a "crash site" where one of Dany's dragons might have taken a left instead of a right and ended up in the United States. After this, at 7:30 p.m. in Herald Square (which is just a few blocks away), they will be screening a special bonus feature from the Blu-ray for fans to come and enjoy!

Hope those of you in NYC will consider going, it looks like it's going to be a fun night!

Phineas II Warlai

Basic Information:

Name: Phineas Warlai, the Second.

Biography:

Phineas Warlai was born to Phineas Warlai sr. and his wife, Evelyn, in 1534 during "The Amber Cold". He was raised, for around eight years of his life, in the Copper District of Felsen, his father slowly building up a fortune in selling jewelery. After taking a loan from a Dark Elf merchant, Phineas Warlai was killed for not repaying the debt, thus forcing the family to flee the city. Whilst Evelyn thought it safe to keep their eldest child, Gwyn, with her, she decided to have Phineas II fostered at a farm a days ride from where they lived, hoping to conceal his identity and hide him from the guards.

After learning how merchants trade, then learning from soldiers how to use a sword and bow, Phineas II returns to Felsen on his fifteenth birthday, to meet his sister once more. Having heard from a passing guardsman that she was employed at the Imperial Palace, he seeks her out there. However, to his anguish, he discovers she has killed herself, the cause unknown to him. He thus takes up her fortune and home in the city, pledging himself to the Emperor, who says he may be knighted if he can prove himself as a member of the Felsen Watch. After a year in the Watch and earning a knighthood for saving a Imperial Princess from a group of rebels, Phineas leaves the city in search of  better position, finding such at the court of Baron Jory Marbrand in Vandoria and renouncing his knighthood and citizenship in the Orenian Empire. 

Personality:

Phineas is a people-pleaser at best, always saying what he thinks will make his mentor's and master's happy. Whilst not as ambitious as his sister, he does wish for the finer things in life and seeks a knighthood, perhaps a title coming not to far after. He is kind to most people, he feels he is obligated to help those who need it most.

Gwyn Warlai ran, sobbing, through the streets of Felsen, her gown in tatters and her body covered in bruises. Her tears blinded her vision, but she knew where she was going. "Saint Daniel," she whispered to herself, "Saint Daniel." Dirt stained her skirt hem, her hair was wildly tangled as she flew up to the church steps, took one last look at the city, and ran inside.

Up and up she climbed, circling the rope which the churchmen would use to ring the great bell, announcing a new day or a joyous occasion. When she reached the top, she stopped to catch her breathe. Soiled. she thought, I am soiled. She strode across the room and flung open the great wooden shutters that enclosed the bell. This is for good. I am no lady now, nor was I ever. She thought of her friends, especially Mylas and Renee de Aryn. Will they miss me? Most likely not. She stepped up onto the sill and looked down. It will last only a moment.

As Gwyn flung herself from the bell tower, her foot hit the rim of the bell, letting out a great bellow. They will know now, this bell rings also..for my death.

History:

Not much is known of this mysterious house, not even their ennoblement is recorded in history and by which King it was given. House Warlai began with a jeweler, and that is how they have stayed for, it is estimated, at least 100 years. A simple merchant house, they have moved from city to city, finally setting down roots in Felsen, capitol of the Holy Oren Empire. Being known for their intricate metalwork and good choice of jewels, they have sold to some of the finest lords and ladies in the realm. Until around 10 years ago, they had heard that Phineas Warlai, the previous head, was making progress in the city and becoming a famed jeweler in his own right. But, however, he vanishes after that point, the news of his daughter Gwyn returning to the city only recently reaching the ears of low-ranking nobles and bar-goers who may have purchased jewelry in a time long past.

Discovered Information:

1550 - Phineas II Warlai, brother to Gwyn Warlai, is the youngest son of Phineas Warlai and his wife, Evelyn Underfoot. After most records of his birth were hidden away, researchers have uncovered that the boy, in fact, went missing around 1543 at the age of 9. Whilst search parties were formed, they proved ill and the boy was never found, his mother eventually requesting for him to be removed from the family tree and forgotten. Gwyn was told he was murdered at the time, not knowing that nothing was confirmed or denied & that her brother might still be out there.

Gwyn Warlai is found dead at the foot of the Church of Saint Daniel, having flung herself from the bell tower in grief. Her body was removed and buried soon after, the embalmers determining that she had been assaulted by a group of men, whom forced themselves upon her in the street.

Phineas II Warlai is returned at last, his mother sending him away secretly to save him from being murdered like his father when he was younger. With his golden eagle pin, he is easily identified and brought to Maer Mylas, who informs him of his sister's death and his own inheritance.

1551 - Phineas is named a recruit of the Felsen Watch, but leaves after a year due to his own person being knighted for rescuing a Imperial Princess. However, a few months after being knighted, he joins the court of Baron Jory Marland and the Kingdom of Vandoria, giving up his knighthood and citizenship in the Empire.

Heraldry:

The arms of House Warlai are quite simple, a two-headed golden eagle on a white background. It is said that this was inspired by a famed necklace the original Warlai jeweler made for an old king's queen, the dresses she wore when donning the necklace always being white satin and lace.

Phineas Warlai (1500 - 1537) m. Evelyn Underfoot with two issue: Gwyn Warlai, born in 1529 & Phineas Warlai II, born in 1538. The former commited suicide, the later lives in the countryside of Felsen.
