The Duke of the Adrians sat at his desk waiting, and contemplating the events that had led to the moment. Ever since he had left the central Midlands, the man was haunted by night terrors of fear and wroth for the fate of his folk. They were scattered, so few had come to join him in refuge at Numenost. There, he had drank from the Chalice of Saint Lucien- but still his terrors were not defeated. Would the Adrians ever have a home again? What had happened to their cousins in Veletz- who many he had never seen since the surrender? He heard of the desecration of Winburgh with fire and brimstone wrought by voidal magi- a far cry from the memorial he was promised. Even as the Adrians were granted the slopes beneath Mt. Hugues' Helm and more of his compatriots returned, he feared that the cycle would renew, and the world would know war once more. At the chance of resolution, the finale of the Dumapalooza was disrupted by the bitter and vengeful. The terrors began to conquer the feeble old man, and he was starting to lose hope despite his outward confidence. Perhaps the petty Mikhail would succeed in his ploy to undermine his siblings' commitment to Markus. Perhaps the overwhelming victory of his former enemies would be enough to validate a final act of pettiness and undermine the legacy of Adria just as it had been before. In the time leading to the recount, a wise gnome-scryer approached Markus and reminded of the quests of youth, and renewed his youthful promises to Godanistan and His virtues. Accompanied by his oldest living son, Markus spoke with the King of Crows at length, speaking of the Tapestry of Man, the dignity of their shared ancestry. Carrion Black was poured by the cupbearer, both bitter and hopeful words of war and peace shared. Was there not a time, long ago, where Adria's flourishing was cherished by Haense? THE DUMAGEDDON DOCTRINE Published upon the 11th of Tov and Yermey iv Joveo Mann 524 ES [Music] IN THE INTEREST OF PEACE, AND FOR THE GOOD OF OUR BROTHERS the houses of Sarkozic var Adria and Barbanov-Bihar have come to an agreement on a joint vision to bring before the DUMAPALOOZA; that it shall be abolished forever, for it has become steeped in the blood of brother wars. Secondly, the Adrian Houses Carrion confirm the right of the seat of Ruska, the King in Haense to make summons for Crowsmoots within Haense, and commit to heed the Crow’s Call. At such Crowsmoots, either the seat of Ruska or its appointed representative may lead proceedings to discuss matters of Carrion Legacy. These Crowsmoots shall not have command over titles of Ruska nor Adria, but rather a meeting of collaboration to ensure the ancient stories of Raev are not diminished but rather preserved. For what it's worth, I laughed at the April Fool's Joke but this was confirmed to be an actual glitch which due to Coalition vast numbers had a tangible effect at the LEAST. That's not to mention at worst, intentional logic error but I won't pretend to speak to that with certainty. There was plenty of bias from 60th on other stuff though, so even if it was cleared I could understand why people would doubt that.

Christ is King. I will share my favorite non-scripture text for this time of year taken from the Liturgy of the Hours. Bit of a read, but I genuinely highly recommend it. Nearly moves me to tears every time I read it. I'll also share some thoughts. I don't mean to pontificate, but it's kinda impossible to share those thoughts without it sounding extremely arrogant. The Vaults of Burgundy, however, never came under my possession from the Van Aerts, rather in the ensuing Midden Rebellion were taken away I believe to off shore accounts- I cannot attest where that may be. I shall be frankly honest; I don't know what happened to your two thousand minas. I suspect that they were in fact used for the purposes you paid it, yet the Red Devilry often associated with War stirred confusion upon whether their servants the Blue Devils would allow you to build. Nonetheless as we are old companions, I would wish to offer charity to your impoverished house. Markus' hands would be trembling still from the prolific writing, though he chatted to his close advisor Stefan Euler as he read the reply( @Gaja). "Still he yaps!- yet he cannot rebuke the truth of the Tapestry of Man. But why does he kvetch so about my father so- does he know I am not him? Perhaps he thinks me a skinshifter of the Heartlands," he rambled on, lifting the page in shaking grasp to read again. He shook his head. "The Patricians. I wonder who he thinks those would include? I must write to the East and West Turkin immediately!" he decided, sending word to the foreign agents of Sarkoz Spy Incorporated. A variety delegation would be accompanying him to all future DUMAs.

A HISTORY of the DUMAPALOOZA It was in 1745 that the first DUMAPALOOZA was ever held, a festival to accompany a far older tradition of electing Adrian Dukes which went back to 1511 with the election of Hugues Sarkozic (Franz Vladov, the first duke, was appointed in the will of the co-founder of Adria, Paul Sarkozic, for with his death there was only a sole leader of the duchy). Since Franz I, there had been seven elections for Duke of Adria, all with internal Adrian electors, before the first DUMAPALOOZA. Even in the beginning, Adrian identity was prioritized over a Carrion one; for electors HOREN and STAFYR were given votes, yet neighboring ally Crowsbloods were denied one. The only election in those early years held amongst all Carrions were those of the Crowsmoots- a righteous tradition that has long since been abandoned whereupon the Raevir would flock to their meeting hall to elect their Carrion Patriarch across all cadets and grant him the Boyar’s Cap. It just so happened that Baron in Adria, Paul Sarkozic, was grandson to the Soothsayer himself, and was elected to hold the honor of Boyar’s Cap for a time. The institution of the DUMAPALOOZA is not the central tradition of Adria that it is made to be. Rather it was an invention of an Adrian of Renzfeld who sought to prevent the title from being assumed by the Novellens (though they were not yet named, still Sarkozic they claimed) who had become the seat of imperial power. It was a tool made to preserve the interests of Adrian folk, not in the service of Carrion nor Sarkozic Legacy. The electorate of this DUMAPALOOZA was made in the recent memory of Ves, whose residents lived to that day. Its electors were thus not the nobles of Adria alone, as it historically would be, but instead included foreign electors who had interests in Adria, who the hosts hoped might prevent a destruction of Adria. Thus many Patricians of Ves who had not necessarily lived in Renzfeld were individually invited, even if titles they had not, as well many allied honored crows were given a seat due to shared heritage of Adria and Haense. But such a plan failed; for the son of Adrian Leopold, the Duke of Helena Joey won the election and proved the fears by slowly forcing all rural Adrians into the capital, destroying Renzfeld to place noble houses and elven vassals in its place, and later handing the title to his own sons without any election. The DUMAPALOOZA was renewed only for the purpose of restoring Adria and denying it from those powers which held it without caring for its people; and it worked in such purpose. The Second DUMAPALOOZA was held by the Adrians without endorsement of either Haense, the Emperor of Oren, or the Holy Church; and it led to a failed Adria restoration due to a lack of cohesion with its liege and partner the Grand Duchy of Vasiyeva, as well the Principality of Savoy which it afterwards sought partnership with. However, it was in this second DUMAPALOOZA that the criteria within were made more clear; Honored Crows, Patricians of Adria, and Birds of a Feather. Those who shared a heritage in the Carrion legacy, those tied to specific Adrian legacy, and those invited in kind gesture alone. This electorate included houses that had absolutely zero ties to Adria, such as House Ruthern who though a notable and historic Carrion cadet has never once been a participant in Adria, or the Charity Vote for the immiserated Nordlings. Most notably, there were rules established within this electorate on what may be voted for; rules that enforced that whoever was elected must genuinely seek to be Duke of Adria, not add it to his list of titles. The Third was hosted by my father Heinrik and his allies, who had begun a movement to unite all Adrian refugees who lingered about the nations. In the interest of a great electorate when there was not a recent Adria to draw upon, he continued the policy from the previous DUMAPALOOZA (including its rules). Yet this was protested by the Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska, despite having their invitations. Therefore in compromise, another DUMAPALOOZA was held within Haense overseen by the Church. There, the same result was confirmed and Heinrik Sarkozic was allowed to restore Adria. And it was a prosperous Adria, right up until the time of troubles where civil war exploded the heartlands. Wanting a chance at reconciliation with Canondom, Heinrik went into exile so that the Adrians may elect a new duke amongst themselves, keeping with the older traditions (though DUMAPALOOZA they called it still). Johanes van Aert was elected, for his house had been paramount in the defense of Adria even if its inclusion had stoked the paranoia that contributed to the civil war. As Johanes van Aert formed Veletz after achieving world peace with my aid, he was honorable to the legacy of Adria and resigned from its office, instead another internal to Adria DUMAPALOOZA commenced whereupon I, Markus Sarkozic, was elected. Adria persisted as a vassal of that midland realm, hosting DUMA within the halls of Castle Aldersberg and attempting to unify those of the midlands who identified as Adrian. In total, the first Duke of Adria was verified by his only peer, there have been nine Dukes of Adria elected by internal DUMA, four inherited as a Crown-Prince position, three elected by international DUMAPALOOZA, and one appointed through a political treaty. Now we arrive at the current day; where the Aevos Coalition War has ended with the surrender of Veletz to its own vassal Adria, which itself surrendered to an international coalition in the pursuit of true Reconciliation. Although I rebuke the institution of the international DUMAPALOOZA, the circumstance of this election is justified as it exists as a means of resolution and peace in the realms of Man. The High Pontiff, who did not request this duty nor did his predecessor, has greatly served mankind by acting as arbiter of this nearly century-old feud so that we may all know a confident peace. The electorate was decided by the leader of the coalition, the leader of the Adrian Folk, and the High Pontiff. It was publicly posted two years ago without any dissent. The criteria were based upon the criteria of the international DUMAPALOOZAs of the past; the Honored Crows and the Patricians of Adria. Though these were criteria; nothing was automatic or entitled, yet decided amongst that council of three in the pursuit of reconciliation and resolution. The first were to be Carrion cadets with a history extending beyond a couple mere generations, and a substance in number beyond just a single descendant who claims some faux title. The second criteria was defined as families in Adria who have a history within Adria, as well as a substance of importance not measured through number of offspring but persistent service to Adria. As has complained, there have been exclusions. That is because of intense political compromise, that would be altogether unnecessary if there was not a vitriolic movement to exact revenge upon Adria for meager existence. Nonetheless, I will remind the world that House Varoche has not been a part of Adria since they intentionally saw to its attempted destruction, not to mention its very founding a twisted insult to the Raevir legacy whereupon the latter member of the Carrion-Tuvyic dynasty Duke Paul was made to deny his heritage by the Renatian Emperor in humiliation, and instead was put forth as the bastard child of inc*st. [Genuinely; What the hell?] Houses such as Varoche are not entitled to participate in a system when they themselves do not consider their family Adrian, but hold nobility in foreign lands. They failed both criteria set for the electorate, and therefore were denied alongside many others; such as the Jewelbeards of Clan Goldhand, the Elven Family Songbird, the Western Turkin, the Eastern Turkin, House Leyne, de la Baltas, the Tavernkeep, a bard, the Nordlings, et cetera. In a perfect DUMA, there would be foreign electors who were not entitled but invited to participate in the Adrian system- yet they would not be entitled to overwhelm the interests of Adrians in the question of their own legacy. This is why I endeavor not to be elected Duke of Adria; for whatever blessing an international DUMAPALOOZA may bestow is not one I seek upon my head, but rather I wish to see this blasted institution which sows discourse amongst men abolished so that the identity of Adria may be for the Adrians alone. Nobody can deny the Adrians their heritage- and I do not fear the political machinations of my enemies for I know my cause to be righteous and blessed in whatever outcome it may achieve. Whatever spirit animates you, Mikhail ‘the Petty’, it is not a righteous one. There is no reason to delight in meddling with a legacy that is not your own, and those who seek that the Duchy of Adria and its folk shall burn certainly are not entitled to speak on the matter. THE WITCH ACT OF 1968 ORDER OF THE ADRIAN DUMA TO THE PEOPLE OF CAMP ST EMMA, The Adrian interests are best served by a habit of proper superstition and opposition to the gifts of other races, be they magik, fairy otherwise unnaturally fantastical. In times of unrestrained magik amongst Adrians, scandal is frequently stirred by its tolerance as it is in many communities of men. The agents of magik often put the interests of their arcane study before the ethics of the Scroll of Virtue and traditions of the True Faith of Man. Therefore the Adrian DUMA moves to preserve the virtues of its people, and hereby declares that foreign-magik to be forbidden within all lands under its authority. Magik shall only be hereafter permitted by the authority of the DUMA or its relevant agencies on a specific practitioner basis, to be granted only to Adrians or those of close trusted Adrian affiliation who shall be accountable to the ethics of Man. Any who practices acts of magik within our lands shall find themselves banished from it and fined a sum of 200 minae should they wish to return upon such a banishment. Upon either repeat or severe offenses they shall be forced to serve 2 years of penance at a parish or monastery of the DUMA’s choice. so that they may be brought to humility before the graces of GODANISTAN. Members of the Adrian guard and the public are allowed to report and in the case of guards, enforce the punishment, should such cases of illegal casting take place. Furthermore, members of the various holy orders of the Church shall be allowed to ensure compliance should coincidence place them to do so. The ESTABLISHMENT of CAMP STEMMA THE SETTLEMENT OF ADRIANS As the sun rises, casting a warm glow over the rugged landscape, activity buzzes near the southern edge of the Midlands. Here, nestled against the mountainous hills that fortify the intersection of Aevos a camp is settled. The air is alive with purpose as families of Adrian and Middelan descent work tirelessly to erect shelters and create a sense of home. With each stake driven into the ground and every canvas stretched tight against the breeze, they defy the hardships that drove them from their homeland, determined to make a new start. In the heart of the bustling scene, figures of authority and resilience yell out commands; Count Markus, observes with a mix of concern and resolve. At his side is Baron Stefan "The Old Turtle", who soon hurries off to bring the famous Euler Max and other refreshments to the working Adrians, sporting a mirthful smile. The hard-working yellow berets, Ordermen of St. Daniel and regular guards can be seen cutting down a tree to set up their makeshift guard tower while Brother Ninnias gives a rather unconvincing speech centered around his deep-rooted hatred for yellow flowers. Amidst the sounds of construction and conversation, a spirit of unity emerges, binding these displaced souls into a community forged by resilience. Aspiring young refugees from the burnt Heartlands enlist in the civil services and restored Greycloak Watch. Burghers, knights and artisans flock to the campsite to partake in the Adrian experiment. That which was forged in the crucible of Raevir culture and refined through its traditions integrated with the spirit of the Heartlands; the jewel of Humanity, the Adrian DUMA shall be restored in exile, duchy or not. The greatest quest in Humanity is renewed as the four corners of the DUMA grounds are set, and as the tent town takes shape against the backdrop of the looming slopes, through shared struggles and triumphs the exilic Adrians carve out a new legacy in this untamed land. All the while, a shadow lurks as rumors of Dark Adunaic lepers pour forth from the Kingswood, foreign interests conspire again to conspire their legacy, and strange sounds are heard in the coming dusk. As night falls, the flickering lights of the Adrian settlement are burning bright within the cold darkness… LEADERS OF THE CAMPGROUNDS Markus Sarkozic Exilic Duke of the Adrians Son of the controversial Duke Heinrik Sarkozic and raised in the cruel crucible of his rebellion, Markus Sarkozic is a chivalrous scholar of Adria who orchestrated the surrender of the Midlands in the Aevos Coalition war to bring peace at great cost. Entrusted with land by the Throne of Numenost afterwards, Markus Sarkozic is lord of the slopes of which Camp St. Emma is settled upon. Quickly showing a wit for command as expected of his esteemed bloodline, Rickard Vladov was appointed Captain. There, he was foretold to secure a great wealth like his namesake St Tobias of Aldersberg, so he returned as a merchant to work for his father. The two of them are recognized as quickly rising stars amongst the diaspora, having amassed a great wealth for the resettlement effort. RULES OF ELECTION Given the multitude of candidates, a system was devised and agreed upon by the High Moot to ensure the dwarven voter maintains their ability to vote freely rather than be coerced into voting against their favored candidate. I. Every dwarf present within Urguan shall be allowed to cast a ballot. This shall be determined by the Lord Regent, with counsel from Guild and Clan leaders on questionable ballots and the activity of their elector. II. Ballots shall be sent through the mail to the Lord Regent. Votes shall not be spoken in person, nor shall they be offered through DISCORDIAN nor GOOGL’FOERM magiks. Ballots shall consist of a ranking in descending order of least preference. 1st shall be the most favored candidate, 2nd shall be the 2nd most favored, etc. It is up to the elector if they shall rank ALL candidates or only their most favored. Voting shall commence upon the 8th of Ogradhad’s Study [8 AM EST Monday the 4th] and end upon the 16th of Anbella’s Grace [4 PM EST Friday the 8th] with a feast dedicated to the KING’s of the PAST to be hosted by the Lord Regent where the tally of votes is declared. V. The Coronation shall be at the discretion of the newly elected, though advised to be the stone day after the election’s conclusion. "The skin color of Caves Dwarves is always a darker coloration." While I would agree this is poorly worded and ignores the chance of variety, saying it has no bearing on skin color is definitely wrong. Cave dwarves have always been either pale, or gray, desaturated. But you never have a bright pink skintoned cave dwarf.

When Realm Applications make a return, I would advocate that they should require the signatures to be on their most active persona- because communities are composed in their core of players who are invested in them. More importantly however in my opinion is that Realms need to have progression. I mentioned this in mapdev a while ago, but groups are successful when they go through actual progression. This is a Roleplay Server after all, so narrative of course maintains a high importance. This could be implemented by forcing groups to have actually had time going about different nations or what have you, or maybe allowing them to have a campsite before they can have a nation. I think as well the concept of Realms should be changed from purely a governing system for tiles to be implemented more substantially across all levels of 'Groups'. I think we are artificially encouraging people to divide up as much as possible because you get more recognition for being a less active but independent state than you do for being an active vassal of another nation. I think it's a warning sign that the system is flawed that RP hubs are discounted as being put on map but far less active 'Realms' are put on there. Maybe the system should instead be designed to be about integrating the different levels of RP groups and their ability to affect world than it is just monitoring tile ownership at the highest organizational level of group. I may draft up this idea with more detail and make my own forum post, because I don't think I can do it justice with just 300 words. But I really think we should focus on the user-end of how people interact with groups and how it encourages gameplay and roleplay as opposed to closely following the default of what we have done on server for a while, because all the current realms change as opposed to settlement and nations did was make everyone a nation, but nothing actually else.

But nothing!" The former duke would continue to kvetch to any who would listen, and would waste his day whining about politics that he could after all instead do something about.
