since when is it metagaming to just observe something happening in front of me? if I'm using my actual eyeballs to observe a fight and its participants, that's not metagaming, that's just other people interacting with you. this rule does nothing but enable infantilization in trying to fulfill a non-existent issue. I'd even argue that being able to observe a fight you can't interact with counter balances the combat timer. you can reap the benefits of CRP lock, but the consequence is that there are witnesses. that's just how the game is played

a couple years ago there was a conversation surrounding whether or not independent nation discords were considered "LOTC mediums" and whether players could be held accountable for actions committed in those spaces. they aren't ran as an "official" LOTC mediums by staff, but they're LOTC affiliated in the content, purpose, and people involved. it was later decided they're legitimate LOTC mediums because if they weren't, it suddenly means that person who called you a slur, doxxed you, threatened you, whatever, etc, can't be banned because it didn't happen in an official LOTC medium, and 99% of every atrocity known to this server has happened in DMs or in a player-ran discord

it'd be really cool if we got a plugin that made keys to doors a physical MC object that could be destroyed, stolen, sold, etc. this way it's not isolated to a singular command or the whim of whoever owns the door if they decide they want to remove you, and they'd need to actually do the RP of taking it from you. only issue is I think it'd be a rather convoluted system and I can't really think of any efficient way to make something like this work mechanically, but I'm also not on tech so maybe it's really simple and I'm just overthinking it. but I think it'd lead to fun niche RP and allow people more opportunities to bypass security illegally rather than just hoping someone willingly lets u inside an area. imagine holding a guy at sword point and demanding he gives you access to a special room, or robbing someone for their citizen door keys, etc

1. yes obviously if you are trying to use a RANGED weapon in a MELEE ground encounter you're not gonna be able to get many shots off. go somewhere ranged if you want to get more than a couple arrow hits. for example nevaehlen killed me fair and square once because they used bows the right way and stood on their walls and arrow spammed my inferis to death once. it's annoying but it worked, but for some reason people will stand in like a 10x10 isolated CRP encounter and complain that they can only get a couple of shots off before being attacked 2. correct, I'm also an advocate for balancing all types of ranged weaponry as well 3. people do this out of good faith, not by any enforced rule. this is also means that, considering there's no limit on how many arrows u can carry, you can just keep shooting until you roll a 20/20 and there's no real method or risk because you never have to worry about running out. u ever read hunger games bro?? katniss always worries about her arrow count!!! be like katniss!!!

satinkira milking the hell out of both sides of the argument for maximum levels of rep farming, I respect it I'm not tired of this conversation because the hype died down I'm tired of seeing people type massive essays and crawling out of their discord shadow council hibernation dedicated to justifying why homophobia is an ABSOLUTE NECESSITY for their RP because we all know that as soon as this stops being a conversation they'll disappear again all I'm gonna point out here is that there is no "fantasy version" of homophobia (elves are a shy exception but we all know they aren't even close to being the biggest advocates for minecraft homophobia OOCly). you can be fake racist towards fake races. call elves dagger ears, call orcs barbaric savages, but homophobia on LOTC is often just the same regurgitated talking points queer people hear every day. we generally frown upon just being textbook racist towards farfolk characters, so if we draw the line at being racist towards one IRL minority group, why are we not consistent and drawing the line at being homophobic towards another IRL minority group
