Jōnetsu was born in a town found in Northern Atlas named, Nordengrad(also known as the capital of the Earldom), in a small cottage surrounded by a farm. His father would train him in swordsmanship and the many languages of their town, while his mother told him the stories of their ancestors. He and his family lived a calm life, say for the usual harassment from the constant visits of the bandit group known as the ‘Reiters’, who his father would scare away with sword skills, taunting their leader for having such weak followers.. One night, the serenity of his home was interrupted when the Reiters returned to rob their home and set their cottage aflame. His sleeping mother died in the blaze, with his father dying shortly after helping Jōnetsu escape. while the criminals raided their home. Jōnetsu felt immense guilt after this, as he was unable to use the sword skills father spent his entire life teaching him, because of his own paralyzing fear. He felt unworthy of remaining in Nordengrad any longer, finding his failure to save his family as a dishonor to his entire lineage. Jōnetsu left his town two years later, to travel across the many lands in an attempt to grow stronger and make sure no other family would be plagued by any kind of villainous group.
