    A TRIBAL TRAGEDY

Upon the annual moon of 1730, 4th of The First Seed that we, the Syllar, hereby issue realmly summons for the formerly known Leilatha Syllar, née Devione. Once the prideful matriarch of Mali’ker, the previous Warhawke and Princess of Vira has since abandoned her roots and dignity for the pleasures of flesh. It, with insurmountable sorrow, has come to the attention of family of her infidelity, and so, shall stand public trial. Not only has she betrayed her loved ones, leaving behind father, husband, son, and many brothers and sisters; but faith, pacts and promises for the pursuit of banditry and degeneracy. She shall no longer be recognized as a Warhawke, a disgrace to an honorable people, nor Mali’ker until lawful recompense is established.

Vas Vincrute is subject to summons, to reinstate his loyalty and produce an official apology to Syllar under the pretense of attempted violence. His children shall serve as wards beneath Syllar until the age of majority is met, acquiring martial education, too as protection from a Shade’s innate instability.

Pretenders of Vira are subject to summons, to reinstate their loyalty. They shall be received cordially.

    -

Those found complicit in harboring documented subjects shall be regarded equally accountable.

Acquisition of either named subject shall be duly rewarded.

    SYLLAR

    Shadowmoon_Crest.png.c21c1408f0b028d614676109db8f753f.png

Strength is not born by victory, but enduring.

From humble beginnings, the Syllar originate from the subterranean of yore; biding their time until emerging into the present centuries. With their debut, not one of grandiose stature, the formation of united mali’ker had been spearheaded under the bloodline; the eventual successor to ’ker independence and thus ascension to royalty. Those born of the Onyx oft acquire aptitude in traditional upbringing, varying in focus. Education is paramount for a young Syllar, casting aside household values to instead be learned by the harsh realities of the world. Statecraft for the silver tongued, martial matters for the durable and hardy, and seldom, rulers with prowess to both.

Brandishing a brutish nature, the Syllar are oft warlike and practice what it means to preach strength. With ideals originating from the means of fight or flight, the Syllar with crowns of onyx rejoice in conflict and the drums of war. Challenges and testaments of power are the pride and principle of Syllar, inclined to duel, fight and better oneself both physically and mentally.

    History

Without the limelight for centuries, the Syllar acquired a stranglehold upon worldly politics after establishing themselves under the guidance of Vulnir Syllar alongside Avurak Syllar, the founders of legacy. Foundations began independently from within the Wonka Woods after continued denial from the ‘aheral and ‘ame states, a measly camp without much substance or true grandeur. A wayward folk, nomadic even, the Syllar with their band of trusted ‘ker ventured into Krugmar and resided furthermore to procure and assess a future further with their religious kinsmen.

And so, marked the eventful occasion which had brought the Syllar over the shores of Arcas, a scattered folk without leadership or residence. Still, had the dream of independence and primacy veer from reach after settling the shores and tropical isle of Harlond. Without the esteemed leadership of Vulnir and now for Avurak, an autonomous settlement within the fringes of Aegrothond had been founded. Upon the woes of Prince Avurak, the distant summoning of Valen Syllar came to be; his brother from lands yore, a tribal ‘ker by nature. Longsword at his hip, ashore the scurvy-ridden Syllar ascended to aid his sibling to prosperity. And so prosperity came, Harlond enjoyed remarkable activity which rivalled that of the mali’fenn; the Southern Sea harbour of onyx dreams. But the true ambition remained, independence; it would never have been acknowledged upon Harlond, and so they set for migration.

Establishing a foothold upon what was dubbed by Valen Syllar as the “Princelands” beyond the reaches of the world, an untouched meadow encircled by mountainscape. The Great Migration period resulted in suffering for the Syllar, the two brothers arduously tasked with procuring a home for their people; unshackled from the whims of foreign nations. They established a remarkable paradise, a tropical isle similar to Harlond previously, a saltstone cove, a den of self-governance. Prosperity, peace and activity ensued; which brought the attention of foreign eyes. Troubles arising, a tumultuous era awaited the Syllar which had yet to come.

War now upon their doorstep, a Renatian party brought ruin to Avurak Syllar; parading his death in the square of Helena. Distraught and disorganized, an informal coronation of Valen alongside his now wife, Leilatha the Warhawke, took place with vows of vengeance. Their marriage resulted in a union between the traditional spirit-praising culture and Igne’acaela beliefs. Escalation followed the brewing conflict, a now revolt ensued within the Empire to which the Syllar sided with, a testament to their previous encounters. In the conflict, the Syllar fought remarkably well yet the woes of exhaustion plagued the people which resulted in the eventual abdication of Valen after the conflict subsided.

In his wake, the son of Valen and Leilatha Syllar, Vaelor Syllar came to be; to ascend the Onyx Throne. With the woes of exhaustion bringing the Syllar to turmoil, Vaelor had much growing to do. Maturity struck, and so Vaelor assumed his rightful mantle to govern the free mali’ker people proudly with the blessing of Luara and Igne’acaela.

Descendants of the lineage of Valen and Leilatha tattoo blue ink over either their right or left arm depending on gender. As per tradition, these tattoos signify their person within the bloodline and as descendent of the princely line. They occupy from the backhand upwards to their bicep, of intricate designs comprised wholly of a blue backdrop with stars, swirls and clouds dominant in the skyscape.

There are no known familial tradition in any other line of Syllar.

Inheritance and succession within the bloodline of Syllar follow a strict agnatic-cognatic primogeniture where the eldest of the established ruler inherits all estates of their predecessor. If there is a male, they shall inherit over an elder sister, but

without any males it shall revert to the female successor. Males of the bloodline are expected to forge their own destiny and found their own legacy. Female born Syllar do not marry matrilineally, therefore do not keep the name, nor are adoptions tolerated within the family.

  5. BLOODIED BEACHES

Harlond Isle rejoiced in bustling festivity, a Mali’ker population ever growing to surpass that of founded nations. With festivities dying down and the bonfire neglecting to be fed, smoke heralded the closure of a night to be remembered. Rising tides of the Southern Sea licked up the beaches of the Sable Principality, fortified with rudimentary palisades adorned with wooden stakes. But what came with the rising tide had been the guttural throes of waterlogged beings, wading onto the beachhead.

Aspirant of the Div’cruan, Inara, a particularly alert Mali’ker stood atop the battlements; hearing the disturbance of water. Joining him atop the wooden walls came Elder Vulnir of Syllar, Emac of Reg’wir, and the recently promoted Hierarch Daichia Jusmia. Foolishly, or perhaps unknowingly beyond his depth, the Aspirant Inara plunged into the sands to courageously patrol what came in the night.

"Sir Inara, are ye’ seein’ anything?inquired Emac aloud, peering helplessly into the darkness where Inara delved into moments earlier. Aye, stay up there! he responded below, hand resting cautiously upon his sword belt. As he neared, the murky depths bubbled as marine life darted away, weaving from the location.

Elder Vulnir provided overwatch, glove twitching as a tangible thrum filled the air; eventually resulting in a spatial lighting weaker than that of a sconce. Inara came upon what could be conveyed as sticks protruding from the surface of the water, and as swiftly the noises came quickly did Inara drown them out. Screaming, what could be made out of Inara dwindled, the audible thud of something heavy being dragged further and further from their domain.

Xavis of Ashwood, his daughter Morgana, Emac of Reg’wir, and Hierarch Daichia swiftly sprang to action, leaping from the battlements haphazardly, keen on aiding their fleeting compatriot. Sticks became spears, and the murky waters revealed two entities distinctly humanoid with their intent wholly clear. Stirring the Mali’ker awake, it came to life as though a hornet’s nest. Valen Syllar, Hortiator of the Div’cruan sprung to duty, hoisting himself up the rung ladder to evaluate the strife. With narrowed hues, the mind of a tactician processed the situation before exclaiming aloud to his kinsmen on the field.

Mind your flanks, Div’cruan, they rise from the shore! With his words came truth, seven beings arose from their watery grave from all sides, with all a bone to pick.

In tandem, the Syllar cousins dropped onto the beachfront, Vulnir channeling through his staff whilst Valen eliminated what distance had been between him and a waterlogged creature slogging from the sea. Thrusted had been the rusted brine of a pike undoubtedly diseased towards Valen’s shins, sidestepping and counter attacking in a duel for two. With a parry deflecting his advance, it took little time at all for the Hortiator to dispose of the creature, sinking his longsword into its throat.

Five of the Mali’ker previously descended swiftly made work of the mangled invaders, withstanding injuries yet nothing critical bar a spearhead driving deeply into Morgana’s shoulder. Vulnir whisked his staff, roaring violently with crackles popping in the air around the gemstone; a sickening bolt of electricity piercing by his comrades and meeting its mark. Flesh filled the air singing nostrils, cooked from his sinister magicks alongside the undeniable stench of iron. Bloodied became the beaches, viscera and entrails washing away with rising tides. Until the sea became crimson for the night, Vira’ker did not rest. Her people did not waver.

They stood triumphant, the first albeit small victory for the unified state of Mali’ker.
