  1. Epic Petition: Don't really know what to put here... but if your like me and want halfling persona's active again spread the word. (Also reply with whatever to support this petition or whatever)
  2. [!] You find a scrap of paper floating around in the wind. Some words are scribbled onto it, as well as a simple drawing. HARVEST TIME IS HERE ~The lovely ol' pumpkins of Knoxville!~ Ah yes, the wonders of autumn. The birds are singing, the air is full of wondrous smells, the crops are fully grown and ready for harvest! It is time to dig up potatoes! It is time to cut down the winter wheat! It is time to pick pumpkins and carve them into fancy ornaments! Let us clear away the fields so we may plant them anew! It's HARVEST TIME, fellas! It's time for us halfling folks to prosper and be merry! Thus, on with the list of activities (A proper harvest ought to be organized like a festival, after all!): -Pumpkin pickin', pumpkin carvin' -Cutting down rows upon rows of wheat! -Competition to see who can dig up the biggest potato! -Drinking and shogging! -The first animal slaughter of Knoxville, to commemorate the new herd of cattle in our wee village! Be there or be a smelly pumpkin! Our village is in Attenlund within Haense, down the long and winding road to the big lake from the big city! Shouldn't be too hard to find! -Filibert Applefoot, local Knoxville halfling, candidate for Sheriff. [!] Another crude bit of paper is nailed onto the first BIGGUNS ARE INVITED! ((Event will take place at 7 PM EST, Tomorrow Thursday the 24th of June, 2021. Knoxville can be found using the below map: ))
  3. Dear halflings, Firstly, I must introduce myself. My name is Thyme Baudelaire. I am a Musin living in The Mousehole, a dwelling deep in the Urguan caverns. I have been visiting your village, Bramblebury, and met a few very pleasant halfling peoples, who made me feel welcome in their home. In turn, I wish to invite you all to mine, and to meet more of you cordial folk. It seems to me the Musin and halflings are not too different, from our stature to our love of food. We shall sit around the campfire and enjoy marshmallows among other sweets, you may grab a drink from our tea shop or tavern too! Perhaps each bring some items over to trade, as I hear halflings like to do so. This invitation is for one week from now. I do hope you'll accept. (OOC: Monday 7th June, 6pm EST/11pm BST) Thyme Baudelaire Owner of The Baudelaire Trove, Watchmaker, Commander of The Mousehole.
  4. KNOXVILLE AGREEMENT Agreed on 5th of Joma & Umund, 374 E.S. Between The Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska and the Wee Folk of Knoxville ARTICLE I: PREAMBLE As war and conflict rages on near the Halfling village of Bramblebury, it has become clear to both the Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska and the wee folk of Bramblebury that their current village is no longer safe from conflict and strife, nor can Hanseti-Ruska properly aid in the protection of their village from such a distance. Therefore, The agreement below has been constructed to outline a new partnership between the Kingdom of Haense and the Wee Folk of Knoxville, the newly established village which will lie under the demesne and protection of Hanseti-Ruska. ARTICLE II: PROTECTORATE WHEREAS the village of Knoxville does recognize the Sovereignty of the Crown of Hanseti-Ruska. WHEREAS the Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska grants local autonomy and governmental independence to the village of Knoxville. ARTICLE III: CHARTER WHEREAS the Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska does grant a landed charter to the Wee Folk of Knoxville in order to construct their new village. His Royal Majesty, Heinrik II, by the Grace of Godan, King of Hanseti and Ruska, Grand Hetman of the Army, Prince of Bihar, Dules, Ulgaard, Lahy, Sorbesborg and Slesvik, Duke of Carnatia and Vidaus, Margrave of Korstadt and Rothswald, Count of Chatnik, Nenzing, Graiswald, Karikhov, Baranya, Kvasz, Kavat, Karovia, Kovachgrad, Torun, Turov, Kaunas, Alban, Reza and Markev, Viscount of Grauspin, Baron of Antioch, Thurant, Rytsburg, Venzia, Esenstadt, Krepost, Kralta, and Lord of the Westfolk, Protector of the Highlanders, etcetera. 5. [!] You find a note slipped into your mailbox! Burrow Party! ~Lovely ol' Knoxville, a land covered in morning dew and flowers~ Oi ye halfling lads and lasses! It's been a wonderful time makin' Knoxville with you, but it's time we stop being all serious and work-y and get to the proper business of partying! Since me burrow is just about finished, I'll be hosting a small gathering there! There will be food and maybe a bit of booze (we'll see if I can get the brewin' facilities set up for that). Come on over ter Knoxville next Pumpkin Day for quite the celebration! -Filibert Applefoot, halfling of Knoxville. ((3 PM EST, no pressure to attend if that time doesn't work for you!))
  6. i personally want 1.13 and for the devs to focus enhancing 1.13 rather than update to 1.14 with a bad chunkloading, the new blocks are cool but it doesnt replace the chunk loading, we cant move from point a to point b it takes literally too much time for travelling, maybe we can go back to 1.13 with an older save if world corruption is a concern but we cant stay in 1.14 its ruining the traveling of the map
  7. Ultimate Guide to the Halfling Race Contents: ~The origin of the Halfling culture ~How to Halfling ~Halflings, what are they? ~Should I play a Halfling? ~How to create a Halfling ~How to talk like a Halfling ~How to join the Halfling village ~How to build a Halfling burrow ~Things to do as a halfling ~The Halfling Festival ~How to Shog ~How to build Halfling villages (Coming soon) ~Other cool Guides The Origin of the Halfling Culture Halflings first came to LOTC as a sub-race of the Humans when sub-races were added to the server during Aegis. They were short with thick-soled hairy feet, fun-loving, and nearly impossible to predict. The first Halflings lived among Human settlements, making a living through thievery and adventure, staying true to their Human sub-race roots. However, one day three Halflings known as Len, Kipp, and Gimblo set out to create the first Halfling village Aegis had ever seen: DUNWOOD! Dunwood soon became the center of the Halfling race, although it was not without competitors. The villages of Thistledown and Greenshire were also founded and had their own populations, leadership, parties, etc. Facing all of these rival villages and the loss of some prominent Halflings, Dunwood soon fell into a state of prolonged inactivity. The village stayed empty for a good while, until one day Petyr (drplat) decided to revive the village with LotC’s most well-known festival ever: DUNFEST! Dunfest brought activity and life back to Dunwood (as well as plenty of people just there for the fireworks), and helped guarantee that the village culture of Dunwood would persist for years to come. The culture of Dunwood was roughly as follows: -Living in circular buildings surrounded by dirt, called “burrows” -Not using swords or other weapons unless absolutely necessary. -Living off of farm produce primarily instead of mining, smithing, lumberjacking, etc. -Being kind to one another, and valuing fun and enjoyment over conflict and intense character building. -Not wearing shoes or hoarding excessive amounts of materials/coinage in one’s burrow. Some time passed, and after 2.0 came to LOTC and the village of Branborough was founded, the halflings took on newer characteristics. Many ex-Undead players flocked to the halfling race after the end of Aegis, yearning for an end to all the conflict and strife they roleplayed constantly as Undead. This led to the supposed “Halfling Golden Age” and firmly set halflings as a sort of “vacation race” to serve as a break for those tired of the rest of LOTC. From there onwards, Halflings have waxed and waned in activity and hilarity. Many Halfling villages, such as Willow Hollow/Reedsborough, Mapleshire, Dunshire, and Gimblewood had stable roleplay and loads of fun, whereas others either only had activity for short periods of time or fell into long droughts of any meaningful content. Currently, the Halflings live in the village of Honeyhill near Haense's capital city, Karosgrad, under the leadership of their Thain, Iris Peregrin. How to Halfling Halflings, what are they? ~Merridolph Applebrook, a Halfling from Pendlemere~ “In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a hobbit-hole, and that means comfort.” -J.R.R Tolkien Height: Halflings are the smallest race in all of Arcas, ranging from 2 feet 6 inches tall to 3 feet tall. Due to this small size, Halflings make for excellent thieves and poor hand-to-hand fighters. Appearance: Halflings strong, thick, and hairy feet that protects them from harm as they walk barefoot. Their hair ranges from dark browns and reds to light blondes, and almost never sticks up straight. Their eye colors are the same of humans, except that Heterochromia is very common in halflings, with Heterochromia being where the two eyes have different colors. Clothing: Halfling clothes are usually simple wool-cloth or leather garments made by fellow Halflings designed to fit their small stature. Green and Yellow are common colors, followed by brown and the dull white of undyed cloth. Overalls are common in Halflings who farm frequently, and more adventurous Halflings might wear simple capes and hoods. Aging: Halflings are usually around 3 feet tall and have very hairy feet. They grow to maturity at the age of 33, live to 150, and show signs of old age after around 100-120. However, many Halflings artificially increase their lifespan through Druidism or other methods. Characteristics: 1: Halflings love eating food, often eating more than characters twice their size! 2: Halflings love to drink alcohol and smoke pipeweed. Most Halflings build up a strong alcohol tolerance from an early age, and thus beating a Halfling in a Drinking Competition is no easy feat! Meanwhile, pipeweed is just a simple crop similar to tobacco but with less negative health effects. 3: While shunning violence in most situations, Halflings can be quite dangerous if cornered! Nobody wants to face an angry midget with a big stick, of course! 4: While more adventurous/non-village Halflings love to steal from bigger races, Halflings rarely steal from other Halflings. 5: For unknown reasons, Halflings prefer to fight with Shovels whenever forced to fight. For village Halflings this is symbolic of their desire to return to a peaceful life, whereas for Halflings outside of Halfling villages this is due to the desire to whack things real hard with the shovel! 6: Halflings almost never wear armor, partially due to the non-existence of Halfling-sized armor, but also due to Halflings’ peaceable nature. 7: Halflings shun on the use of locks and the hoarding of resources, instead preferring a more open and sharing community. Should I play a Halfling? Halflings aren’t for everyone. Those who enjoy more violent characters will be disappointed in the small size of Halflings, and those who like getting rich will not enjoy the more communal lifestyle of Halflings. However, Halflings still manage to appeal to many by providing things other races cannot. Halflings are never at war, host frequent parties and celebrations, and never cease to amaze with their frequent antics! To re-state Petyr’s words on whether or not you should play a Halfling: Some points to Note: If you really enjoy PvPing, a halfling is probably not for you. If you rage or have a temper, being a halfling is not for you. If you want to be a Mary Sue or be a super duper badass, halflings are not for you. If you get really bored really quickly, halflings might not be for you. If you want to mine, halflings might not be for you. If you are too serious, halflings are not for you. HOWEVER: If you enjoy farming, drinking, fishing, and laughing, be a halfling. If you are tired of powergamers, poor RPers, or just tired of conflict, be a halfling. If you want some peace and some good friends, be a halfling. If you are drawn to short and weak races like hobbits and gnomes, be a halfling. If you like the sound of an Irish accent, be a halfling. If you want a community that is more focused on fun over items, be a halfling. If you've always wanted to live in a hobbit burrow, be a halfling. How to Roleplay a Halfling Roleplaying a Halfling is a unique experience on LOTC. No other race is as short, and no other communities party in such copious quantities. In spite of these differences, halflings are not that difficult to roleplay, and anyone can pull it off with minimal practice and a good bit of pipe smokin’! How to create a Halfling 1: Read up on Halfling lore! A quick glance at this Guide and the wiki page should be plenty! 2: Get a skin! This can be an unused skin from Planetminecraft, a skin you made yourself, or a skin you got a halfling skinner to make for you! Halfling skins aren’t that hard to make, and many non-Halfling skins can be turned into Halfling skins by removing all armor, making it barefoot, and adding in more Halfling-like attire like overalls, for example! 3: Get a name! This can be done by stealing the name of a lesser known hobbit from Lord of the Rings, mashing together some random nature words until you get something that sounds cool (“Stump Mossbranch”, for example), or by visiting https://chriswetherell.com/hobbit where you can generate both male and female Halfling names for free! 4: Create your persona and start RPing! How to talk like a Halfling While no two halfling accents are alike, most share a few common characteristics 1: Don’t use T in the middle or end of a word, replace it with an apostrophe instead. Example: “Tha’s terrible! Translation: “That’s terrible!” 2: Don’t use H at all, unless it’s combined with another consonant. Replace them all with apostrophes as well. Example: “‘elp me! Me ‘airy fee’ be on fire!” Translation: “Help me! My hairy feet are on fire!” 3: Replace -y with -eh if you feel like it, although this is not required. Example: “The mos’ vereh nice ta’ers always be slimeh!” Translation: “The best potatoes are always slimy!” 4: When drunk, sleepy, or otherwise impaired, replace the letter I with “oi” or “o” wherever it seems appropriate. Example: “Oi nay b-beh drunk! T’is os ‘ow oi normalleh speak! Moind yer manners!” Translation: “I’m not drunk! This is how I normally speak! Mind your manners!” 5: -ing turns into -in’ in most accents. Example: “Runnin’, jumpin’, swimmin’, these be me favori’e thin’s!” Translation: “Running, jumping, swimming, these are my favorite things!” 6: Add in your own extra flairs! Many halflings like to replace “the” with “t’eh” or “t’a”, or turn “my” into “me”, “mah”, or “meh”. The more it sounds like something a country bumpkin would say, the better! Example: “Buh wha’ abou’ t’eh droid a’’ack on t’a wookies?” Translation: “But what about the droid attack on the wookies?” How to join the Halfling village 1: Create a Halfling character, duh! (See “How to create a Halfling”) 2: Go to the Halfling village. Sometimes the location of the Halfling village is a secret, and sometimes the Halfling village is right in the open for everyone to see! Whatever the case may be, you’ll eventually find the village is you ask and look around a bit! Check the forums to see if its location is put there, and try to contact the Halflings themselves on the forums if you are still confused! 3: Find an Authority Figure within the village. This is easier said than done, as the Halfling leadership isn’t online all the time (They have to sleep as well ya know)! If none of the Halfling leadership is online, try to find the village’s noticeboard to see if any OOC contacts are listed. If they are, then contact the leadership via the Discord, Skype, Forum Profile, etc. that is listed to try and be online at the same time. 4: Do whatever is required in order to get a home! Normally Halfling burrows are free, but that hasn’t always been the case! Back in Dunwood new Halflings had to fill out some fancy paperwork before being able to live there! Hopefully you will be able to get your burrow in no time flat! How to build a Halfling burrow There are many different ways to make a Halfling burrow. I shall list a few guides below: Here is Petyr’s guide to making burrows way back in Asulon And here’s Larry’s guide to more modern burrows And here’s my own guide on how to make burrows in RP And here’s Faldo’s guide to making burrows Things to do as a Halfling 1: Have parties! You can never party too much as a Halfling! Ideally there should be at least one event, party, or festival every weekend, but if there isn’t one you can easily plan your own! ((See: How to plan Halfling parties)) 2: Fishing, farming, baking, brewing etc. Of course, not every day can be a party, so every Halfling character should have some personal activity they can perform when things are quieter. Whether or not you want to roleplay these activities or do them out of character is up to you. ((For brewing, if you screenshot the roleplay of your booze-making, you could get the Moderators to rename bottles for you)) 3: Small talk, small adventuring. As with all races, the majority of Halfling roleplay consists of relaxed chatter between characters. However, Halfling roleplay is more interesting when there’s a sense of direction and light-hearted urgency to it. If you ever get bored when chatting with your pals, you can simply invent some non-existant problem that has to be solved, be it evil gnomes stealing all of the booze, or chemicals in the water turning all the frogs gay! 4: Event builds within the village! Halfling villages are usually filled with small secrets that can be used for more interesting roleplay. Some secrets contained within Halfling villages include… ~A giant chicken protecting its lair! ~Tunnels filled with rats underneath the fields! ~A secret passageway to the edge of the world! ~Secret shrines to the Pumpkin Lord! ~A toilet that flushes you into the dark realm of Arugula, the evil Squid Lord! The Halfling Festival ~The Dunshire Harvest Festival~ Halfling Festivals are always massive events, drawing large numbers of players to the Halfling village for a good ol’ time! There are several features in common with Festivals, although almost every Festival is unique in some way! Common features of Halfling Festivals: 1: Shogging, Darts, Pie Eating, and other games. Halflings love playing fun little games! For instance, Shogging, a common halfling sport played on two logs, is a part of almost every Festival! Pie-Eating is also common, as Halflings are fond of food and often wish to turn it into a competition! Darts are a bit less common, but still fun nonetheless! 2: Drinking! If there’s anything Halflings love more than food, it’s booze! It’s not uncommon for Halflings to drink an entire barrel of booze in one sitting! Due to this, massive amounts of booze are consumed in practically every Halfling Festival worth writing home about! 3: Another main attraction! While drinking and games may appeal to many, many Halfling Festivals go beyond this! Some Festivals include massive events like Pig Races, Boat Racing, Scavenger Hunts, and entire adventures as the main attraction for the Festival! How to Shog Shogging is a very common Halfling Sport that most Halflings wish to master. Here are the basic rules: 1: Begin with one person on each log. 2: The goal is to knock your opponent off of their log without falling off of your own! 3: No jumping from one log to the other! Stay on your own log! 4: You must wear a pumpkin on your head and use a shovel to try and knock your opponent off. 5: No finding extra holes through your pumpkin! (Don’t use third person camera or hide your user interface to avoid the pumpkin penalty!) Some tips and tricks: 1: It’s useful to sneak so that you don’t fall off by accident. 2: However, you can suddenly stop sneaking to rapidly move forwards to catch your opponent by surprise! 3: Playing defensively is usually better than playing aggressively, but sometimes being aggressive can pay off! Other cool guides: The Halfling Information Mega-Thread (which this thread is replacing) An unofficial Halfling guide to Hosting Guests (still relevant) Halfling Activities Guide (outdated, but great for inspiration!) So you want to be a Halfling (outdated) The Official Halfling Guide (Outdated but still good!) Why you should be a Halfling (Outdated but an excellent read!) That’s all for now! I’ll keep on adding to this guide until I am satisfied with it. It’s just that I wanted to post it sooner so that new Halflings wishing to live in Brandybrook (and, more recenty, Bramblebury) may see it!
  8. My part-time job just put me on for more hours. I have full time college online. I still have a class at my High School that’s going to be meeting in-person next week. On top of this, I’ve been playing LOTC for several hours a day in the halfling community. We’re really active right now, and while that’s pretty awesome, it’s a lot different than what I’m used to from halfling RP. It’s too much for me, especially with all of the political drama and folks dying and getting injured in the Demon events. I’m feeling worn down and I don’t think I’m going to be playing as much, if at all, for a little bit. I’ll log online if somebody requests it of me, but other than that, I don’t think I’m going to be playing. I’ll still make the newspapers, though. When I feel like playing again, and when things have calmed down a bit, I’ll log online a bit more. At the very least, I’ll be there and active for the 8.0 launch and to help build the 8.0 village. I wouldn’t miss the opportunity to do that no matter what. It’s also very likely I’ll start being active again sooner than that. Have a good day folks!
  9. ((partial inspiration: https://lotr.fandom.com/wiki/Pervinca_Took )) Pervinca Applebrook Age: 34 Race: Halfling Height: 2’7’’ Weight: Around 70 pounds. Hair Color: Reddish-Blonde Eye Color: Dark blue Origins: Her mother was an unknown barmaid of the Drunken Duck Tavern, and her father was Agobard Applebrook, a son of Merridolph Applebrook himself. She lived in Dunshire during her childhood, playing with the Applefoot children and learning how to play the flute. However, Agobard died of consumption before Pervinca was old enough to fend for herself, forcing Pervinca and her half-brother, Pelegren, to leave Dunshire in search of care, seeing as none of the other halfling families would adopt them. They wandered across Arcas in search of work, family, food, etc, splitting up in the process. After some travel, Pervinca would stumble across the trade city of Sutica, where she would work as a barmaid in order to earn her sustenance. She encountered the Foxburr halfling family there, who took her under their wing and taught her how to be proper even inside a biggun settlement. Having finished her childhood and found a family in Sutica, Pervinca would remain in Sutica as the descendents moved on to Arcas. In Arcas, however, the Foxburr family began to have issues. The parents of the family were growing old, and none of the Foxburr children were getting married due to the lack of halflings in Sutica. Eventually, they were unable to provide for Pervinca anymore, and she had to leave once more in search of a livelihood. Personality + Traits: A wee li’l Applebrook used to hard times, Pervinca is willing to do almost anything if it will save herself and kin from pain, for such actions are how she squeezed by in biggun lands when she was younger. She acts first, and thinks later, not spending more than a moment pondering any major decision. She is somewhat uneducated, as the Foxburrs and Applebrooks were not good at homeschooling, and thus her speech is cruder than most other halflings. Her writing is also crude and lopsided, and she has trouble reading books without pictures in them. Her few skills include bartending, basic farming knowledge, and sewing. Most of the clothing she wears she created on her own, a fairly impressive feat considering the lack of materials she had access to. While her farming skills may be rusty, she’s more than capable of producing food to feed herself given enough farmland. Her bartending, while decent, is nothing out of the ordinary and only let her barely squeak by on her own. She can create basic low-quality drinks as a part of her bartender gig, but fails miserably at any attempt to create something fancy. OOC: I’m going to try and rebuild the ol’ Applebrook family as it was before the Applefoots took over everything, seeing as the Applefoots are more than capable of staying relevant on their own right now. Now that micbox and I are both playing Applebrooks again, hopefully we’ll be able to revive the family.
  10. Elijah and His Hole Elijah was never one for war. In fact, he had a strong distaste for it. Swords and bows and battleaxes and whatnot would send him straight to the nearest compost bin. So, when he heard that there was to be a draft to fight against the enemies drawing nearer and nearer to his humble town, Elijah picked up all his belongings he could fit into a small cloth bag and marched out the door. Elijah was also not a man of directions, nor schedules and plans. For days, he wandered aimlessly, stopping occasionally to sit and eat whilst glaring at a squirrel, as if challenging it to make a slight towards him and his meal. It was when Elijah made it to a clearing that he realized he had found a new place to stay. Quiet. Empty. Peaceful from the edges of the forest to the calming riverbank. And, lucky enough for Elijah, the ground was soft enough to begin digging. So, he started. Minutes upon hours upon days, Elijah ceaselessly dug away at the ground. He had to stop often to get the sweat out of his eyes, but would then continue as if he had never taken a pause. He dug. And he dug. And he dug. On the fourth day of digging, Elijah collapsed. His fingernails were packed with mud. His clothes were completely stained beyond repair. But Elijah just laughed to himself under the stars, the low chirps and murmurs from inside the forest seemingly celebrated with him. Elijah had escaped war. And he had dug himself a new hole to call home. The end.

  13. So I’m fairly new to all of this and I’m working on making my first character. I’m wanting to make a Halfling with a bit of a twist and I was hoping I could get some help on this. Especially related to the location in which they come from. I checked the wiki for Halflings and found that all of the locations there are listed as no longer around so I though it best to check here to see what I can find out
  14. Name of settlement: Laanhold, Westmarch Peak time: Around 3pm EST (from a mix of Europeans and North Americans) Populace density: 85% Human, 15% Halfling Brief description: Laanhold is the cozy agricultural town of the Duchy of Westmarch. With hedgerows bordering the farms leading up to the gentle palisade entrance to the town, the entire area would be welcoming to most. Halfling burrows sit on the left hand side of the road in, and a branch off to the right sweeps up the staircase to the keep: Laanhold Tower. Immediately upon entering the town would be a marketplace, with a medical clinic on the far left, under the clocktower. Bearing left, an arcade leads to a public park, and the small houses in that direction. Straight ahead is the archway leading to the church, manors and side entrance to the keep, and to the right is the road to the apartments, and the tavern too. 15. Brandybrook Settlement Guide Name of settlement: Brandybrook Peak time: EST peak times are usually active, although there are quite a few GMT halflings. Events planned in the village usually attract 8-10 halflings (Although sometimes they’re on an alt character). Populace density: Halflings are the only race allowed to get a burrow in Brandybrook, although bigger folks may live temporarily in the tavern and can visit as they please. Brief description: Brandybrook is the main halfling settlement in Arcas. It’s a land of rolling hills and farmlands overlooking the nearby Dinkle River and ocean. List of players able to assist: Harold Applefoot((dkink14)) – Thain Rollo Applefoot((Tha_Mystery_Man)) – Thain Deek Driftwood((Porkgasm)) – Sheriff Pelegren Applebrook((micbox)) – Deputy Directions: Head down the road to Aegrothond, but take the side-path that branches off of it after a short while. 16. This thread is fairly self-explanatory. If you have any screenshots of your adventures in LoTC that you’d like to share with people, just put them all in this thread (along with a short description if you wish). I’ll start by putting some screenshots of the Festival of the Applefoots held in Dunshire on December 16th. Gathering in the Tavern to drink some free booze Playing the Halfling sport of Shogging (Harold Applefoot won the tournament, I think) Hunting for edible Truffles in the No-Booze Forest. Sadly, Hearth Underson brought some booze into No-Booze Forest, causing the Sky-Gods to get angry and spite us all with heavy rain and thunder. Trying to wait out the rain in the Applefoot Burrow (It didn’t work, the roof was too leaky and we ended up leaving and braving the rain regardless) Drinking in the Rosenyr Tavern after fleeing the rain in Dunshire. (We were supposed to be having a feast, but the rain put an end to our ability to gather supplies, so we just went elsewhere) Here’s some other unrelated Screenshots to help kick this off: The Belvitz Technology Expo in celebration of the Belvitz-Holm railway
  17. Gathering by the docks, awaiting the beginning of the Tournament. The first shogging match between Rollo Applefoot and Apollo (Rollo wins!). The shogging match between Daisy Applefoot and Liesl Applefoot (Daisy wins!). The match between the losers of the first two matches (Liesl wins!). The arrival of the Forest Dwarves. The match between the winners of the first two matches (Rollo is disqualified for cheating!). The match between Daisy and Liesl that determines the winner! (Liesl wins!). Giving Liesl Applefoot the prize! Fishing in Dinkle River! The arrival of Arugula, the Squid Lord! Fighting the squid with the power of fishing hooks! Shogging with the Squid Lord. Kerraline must face the squid alone!
  18. Gathering in Brandybrook, waiting for the Festival to begin Lining up for the Swimming Competition! The Swimming Competition in action! Shogging on the Dinkle River! Lining up for the Surfing Competition! The Surfing Competition! (It didn’t quite work out as planned due to lag) Fishing on the Dinkle River! All in all, it was quite a fun Festival, and I’m glad that I decided to run it! I hope Brandybrook has more fun events like this in the future!
  19. THIS POST IS CANCELED The Jade Riders The Jade Riders are a broad group of rangers and adventurers alike who oppose threats to the natural world and help others survive in dangerous environments. A Rider might help a small village prepare for a brutal winter, or aid a Kingdom in a deadly war. Riders may protect a town from an onslaught of malicious foes or simply aid in the construction of a new settlement. Members of the Jade Riders know how to survive, and more importantly, they want to help others do the same. They are not opposed to civilization or progress, but they strive to prevent civilization and the wilderness from destroying one another. Members of the Riders are spread far and wide, generally in isolation or small cadres. Survival in a harsh world also demands great fortitude and mastery of certain fighting and survival skills. Beliefs: The natural order must be respected and preserved. Forces that seek to upset the natural balance must be destroyed. The wilderness can be harsh. Not everyone can survive in it without assistance. Goals: The Jade Riders goals are to restore and preserve the natural order, keep the elemental forces of the world in check, keep civilization and the wilderness from destroying one another, and help others survive the perils of the wilderness. 20. Warning: In no way is this guide supposed to be accurate when it comes to the art of smithing. It is just a silly, dumb, and fun thing for halflings to indulge in from time to time if they wish. GUIDE TO SHOVEL SMITHING Since the dawn of the halfling race, the halflings have had a natural affinity to the shovel. Perhaps it is due to its small size, or due to its amazing bludgeoning capacity, or maybe due to the halflings' affinity to gardening. Whatever the case may be, we are now left with various halflings seeking out only the finest of shovels for their personal use. This demand in shovels is met by a group of small, specialized halflings known only as THE SHOVEL-SMITHS. Their craft is highly complex and requires an apprenticeship to learn. APPRENTICESHIP In order to learn how to smith shovels, you first must become an apprentice to an existing shovel-smith. This is no easy task, for the Shovel-Smith gives lessons only to the most trusted and capable of people. The apprentice helps the Shovel-Smith by providing him with iron, cleaning his abode, and helping out with the smithing. In return, the apprentice learns this valuable trade along with all of its secrets. THE SMITHING ITSELF The art of smithing shovels is closely guarded by the few remaining Shovel-Smiths. All we know is that it involves a lot of time, effort, metal, and booze to produce. What little we know is shown below: 1: The Shovel-Smith heats up their furnace with wood from apple trees. 2: The Shovel-Smith relies only on the highest quality iron, throwing all the rest away for lesser-smiths to use 3: Only hammers made out of solid cabarum can be used for Shovel-Smithing. 4: When produced, these shovels are some very fine weapons indeed, as well as excellent gardening tools THE FIRST SHOVEL-SMITH It is claimed that the very first Shovel-Smith was taught by none other than Lord Knox himself, with the intent being that this art would serve to protect the halfling-race for the rest of time. It is not known if this story is true or not, but it captures the heart and soul of every Shovel-Smith, every one of them wishing to rival the first Shovel-Smiths mastery of shovels. ((The actual process of Smithing Shovels goes as follows: 1: Ignite the forges using small kindling and a flint & steel 2: Pile Applewood logs into the furnace until it is hot enough to melt copper 3: Using a simple bellows made from cow hide and Gnomish engineering, the furnace is heated up to an even higher temperature 4: An ingot of iron is placed into the furnace to heat up while the bellows are still used to increase the temperature 5: After the ingot has turned red, add more fuel to the furnace, alternating between Applewood logs and Charcoal 6: Once the ingot has heated up further, keep on applying the bellows until the furnace is unbelievably hot 7: Quickly take out the ingot using a pair of tongs, and quench it in a tub of water, letting it rapidly cool. 8: Put it back into the furnace so it may heat up, putting more Applewood logs and Charcoal/using the bellows as needed 9: Quench it again, and repeat the previous steps, heating it up and quenching it until you are satisfied with the resulting iron 10: Heat up the iron once more, using nothing but Applewood logs in the furnace. Once the iron is red, take it out and lay it upon the anvil 11: Slowly hammer the ingot into a shovel-like shape. You may have to re-heat the metal a few times 12: Return to the furnace and heat up another two ingots of metal(edited) 13: Using two bellows at once, and using nothing but charcoal as fuel, slowly heat up the two ingots until they are white in color 14: Take out the two ingots and violently pound them against the anvil as fast and as hard as possible. You should be able to hammer the iron into a slightly smaller shape. 15: Re-heat and re-pound the two ingots as much as needed until you are left with a slightly denser metal. 16: Combine the two ingots into one blob after having heated them up once again 17: Take the old shovel-shape you made and heat it up again in the furnace. Let the denser metal cool in a tub of water 18: Take out the shovel-shaped iron and the cold denser metal and begin pounding the denser metal into the center of the shovel-shaped metal 19: Eventually, you will have combined the two. Now all you need to do is heat up half of an ingot in the exact same manner as you heated up the very first ingot (Quenching it a few times of course) and merge it into the rest of the shovel so that the interior is made entirely of dense metal and the outside is made entirely of non-brittle metal. 20: You have now made a shovel that is heavy enough to give a good whacking yet resistant to shattering under even the most extreme pressures. It is hard to defeat a halfling wielding such a powerful weapon))
  21. The old thread where people would post images of Dunshire has been archived after it died out a while ago. Since then, I've been taking many screenshots in order to make Forum Posts, tell tales of events, and just generally taking screenshots for the fun of it. I will post some of the screenshots I have gathered here so that you all may enjoy them. If anyone else has screenshots they'd like to share here, they are more than welcome to post them! 22. Event Planners, MC Names: jumperhand3 (me), and perhaps Revolutionaries or Natalac. All the halflings could pitch in. Event Type: Minor famine/crop failure, long term event instead of a one off thing. Your Timezone: American Central Time, but for the rest of the halflings EST works just fine Affected Groups: The halflings of Dunshire Event Location: Dunshire Summation: When Dunshire was settled, seeds from the previous halfling village of Mapleshire were used to plant the fields. These crops were used to the warm climate of Mapleshire, and didn't ever have to deal with cold, snow, or any of those extremes at all! However, after having settled Dunshire, a problem would begin to arise in those Dunshire fields, SNOW! Unlike Mapleshire and all of the halfling villages previously, Dunshire's climate snows every winter, damaging the precious roots of the crops with it's relative cold. The crops would get more and more stressed out by the difference in climate, and soon the halfling food supply would dwindle. With no other options, the halflings of Dunshire would be forced to ration what they have left, or adapt to the new climate by using different types of crops in order to save their village! Concept Images/Screenshots What help do you require from the ET Actors or Builders?: ET builders could be used to add snow in places around the village during wintertime to add to the immersion, but other than that this event would consist of roleplaying the lower amounts of food available, and many meetings among the halflings as to what should be done. ET actors would not be needed, unless it's revealed that some grain monster is actually what's causing the crop failures or something like that. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ So, what do you think? I want everyone's input on this idea! Is this unnecessary and un-fun? Or will it be a fun little bit of change in Dunshire's atmosphere and roleplay?
  23. Hello everyone! If anyone wants to make me a halfling female skin, I'd reward them with 1000 minas! The skin would resemble the skin of my old halfling female, Madeline Applefoot (since the new character I'm planning to use for this skin is a descendant of her), but with small differences here and there and different clothing. Madeline Applefoot's skin: The exact look of the skin is up to you, but as long as you can tell that the character is related to Madeline Applefoot , I'll take it! I hope you all have a good day!
