  1. Hello Lords and Ladies of the Craft! Its my 400th forum post on here. I'm ngl I never thought I would get to this point where I would have 400 things to write about, but here I am lol. I've pondered and asked a few friends what I should make this post about and honestly my minds scattered through really big and extensive lore posts, to a staff application that I probably will never get to doing, an unreleased application video I did from a big YouTuber's minecraft experiment, to just basic shitposting. And it's not only that, but I could also have had some fancy formatting or cared to put in the same amount of effort that I normally do, but I thought it would be cool to just say things from my tired brain in the middle of a lunch break about certain topics I wanted to cover. Stress We all feel it, we all experience it, and we all suffer from it. I've been in the United States Navy for a little over a year and a half now, and I can say I've never felt stress quite like this. It's to the point to where my entire 4 years of High School don't even add up to the fraction of stress I go through here. Now that's not to invalidate ANYONES similar experiences, but that's just my own experience. Not all stress is the same, and not everyone can deal with it in the same way. There are multiple different stressors we all go through that are both strangely similar or wildly different. Boot Camp and A-School for the Navy were one of my most stressful situations that I had to learn how to deal with. It was the work pace, the strange hours (I'd never worked a job before) and generally just the new environment. I moved away from a comfortable life in Delaware, said goodbye to friends I'd known for a decade and to my family that raised me, and I barely get to see them twice a year. Its hard. Its very difficult to get through, but one thing that gives me peace of mind is that I'm living out my dream, have a relatively stable income for my lifestyle, and most of all I'm making those same people prouder and prouder everyday. Stress on the server is also present. I know it may sound silly at first glance, and to some people it may be silly, but stress through LOTC exists as well. "But it's just a game" You're right, it is. A game where relationships have formed both casual and serious. A game where communities were made, some lives genuinely changed indirectly, and bonds forged through hours of gamer sweat. For me, I met the love of my life on this server, who I am now engaged to and have known for over three years. Three years. That's all it took to change my life. It sounds ridiculous, but all it takes is one interaction, one conversation, one moment. For all of the stress I've gone through, it was worth it. Emotion But what about emotional turmoil or change? Is it harder to spot? Maybe. Is it easier to deal with? Probably not. Do we have to deal with it at all? That's up to you. In the end it is YOUR emotional health. I joined this server when I was 15 years old, though I'd been in and out of roleplay servers since I was 9, some players still know me from when I first roleplayed (Lookin at u @Milenkhov) 11 years man. . . That's more than half my life spent on minecraft pretending to be someone else. Nuts right? But in those 11 years and in between those margins of life I have met hundreds of people that, in one way or another, shaped the way I look at certain things and not all at the same time! If I had a conversation with myself from when I was 9 years old I would have bullied me too! And I would have smacked 15 year old me. In reality, its not the 20th century anymore. Emotional experience gained both in school and in personal avenues like gaming are learned through all walks of life. There is no denying that if you've been on the server for as long as I have that in some way shape or form, your emotions and outlook have been impacted. That could be a wonderful thing! That could also be a terrible one. Again, it all depends on how you look at things, right? One thing is for certain and I want everyone, no matter who you are or what interactions we may have had, but I want everyone to know that your emotions matter so much. Your emotions matter. Your feelings DO matter. They may not matter to everyone, but they matter to someone. Emotion is something so overlooked, so shunned at times through different communities, and therefore often silenced. Often emotions reflect on how our lives are going, which is why I say it matters. One thing for certain is very important: Life Your life matters, my friend. Your life. The life existing around you. The lives you may or may not impact everyday. The lives you have impacted in the past, or have yet to impact for the future. Life in general matters. Respect it. Honor it. Cherish it. And live. With all of my word posting, and with five minutes left on the clock, that's probably the most important thing I have to say here today. Live your life to the fullest potential you can live it. Even if you may be scared to do something, or may have been told something is impossible, if it doesn't harm life then it doesn't hurt to try. Through roleplay we can live endless lives, create endless stories, and even feel as if we live that life ourselves. But in reality, we only have one. Such a long and dreadfully short finite amount of time. Live your life, my friends. May everyone find some prosperity and peace in their life. Have an amazing day, LOTC. - erictafoya

  3. As a group of Mali'aheral continued to work away at a heap of debris, the unstable sapphire mine they stood in would rumble, pieces of the cavern walls and ceiling crumbling down as they chipped off pieces of the bottom. “Is it falling there, too?” “It is!” “Ve can’t leave him!” Hræthån growled, “If we continue to mine, we’re all going to die, including him!” “Just — go!” Elarhil Sullas gave the muffled cry out, agonizing to be witness to, “The death of one Mali’aheral is better than three.” “The death of none is best!” Soris shuffled towards the stairway, peering toward the water. “We could go higher, is there another place we can get him out?” Questioned Okarir’tir Edgars An’asul. The stairs shook as the structure of the cave was compromised. From above, rocks began to cascade. "Please!" Elarhil pleaded, curling up besides the pirate skeleton that rest in his otherwise solitary hollow, as sand and water flooded in. Hræthån grumbled in anger, "SHIT!" He roared as he begun to hammer as quick as he could at the sandstone. Soris snapped her attention to the ceiling, dropping the shovel as she brought both hands to her helmet, holding the sides, "Shit, shit." She cursed, before turning towards the others. Hræthån grasped then that he would have to take a different approach. He turned to Edgars and Soris, "We have to get out NOW!" He shouted, "We can come back later, when it's safer!" Wide-eyed with alarm, Elarhil nestled further, "Ti, Hræthån! Please GO! You'll kill all of us!" He choked. "Alright, time to go!" Ordered Edgars. “ito kae Dio mya’leh!” Three of them made it to the surface. First spoiler — emotes Second spoiler — screenshots

  6. Hello friends and foes of LoTC! I hope that my post finds you all well, that the new year has been kind to you thus far and that you find yourselves in the best of health. It is my sincere hope that you are all safe and sound with your loved ones (or your pets). With the coming of the new year I found myself back on this wonderful server nearly three years after I took a hiatus. Much has changed and I felt like the type and quality of roleplay that we have had has changed as well, to my pleasant surprise! I grew nostalgic of my early days of playing on the server back in 2014-2015. Alongside the updated mechanics and progress in the world lore, I felt that it was the perfect opportunity to breathe life into House Visconti; which I had the pleasure of representing off and on at earlier times. I plan to compile a Master-guide to Illatian and Visconti roleplay by the end of next week and give the RP announcement about our current position and plans. In order to help me make this a reality, I decided to reach out to you, the LoTC community. I was dissatisfied with the information I was able to collect thus far because: Some key players lost access to their drives and their precious documents. Some key players became inactive and unreachable. Primary-source forum posts are very aged and difficult to follow. Secondary-source information is often skewed and distorted. We have a list of tertiary characters holding the family name who I cannot place in our family tree. I wanted to write this post and ask those of you who have played a House Visconti (or Illatian persona) to kindly reply to this forum post and aid me in my project by sending me links to the documents (or forum posts) that they do have or by contacting me on my Discord: Zoprak#3499. Character sheets and family trees are required. Secondary sources mentioning or referencing the family members and their activities are needed. Documents outlining family activities are appreciated. Miscellaneous documents, photographs, screenshots and skins are not necessary but would help fill in the gaps in the lore. Thank you for your time and assistance, I look forward to roleplaying with you all in the coming weeks. To those of you who are facing an upcoming semester I wish the best of luck and amazing grades. Please do not hesitate to contact me. Best regards, Zoprak (Antonius Mihailo Visconti) (P.S Dear Moderators, I apologise if this is in the wrong section, please transfer it to the appropriate place if need be, I am a returning player and I am still unsure where to place my forum posts that are OOC).
  7. Bonus Conduct - Out-of-Character Manipulation Introduction Welcome back again, okay okay. Forgive the shortage of these, with the War Claim and a host of other things I figured a brief break would be nice. Anyhow, this one is going to be a little short given the singular topic. There isn’t a great deal of stuff to cover, but I’ll do my best to be as concise and explain as much as I possibly can. Once again, I shall bold all the important parts so anyone reading who doesn’t want to read every last word can skim over the necessary parts. What is Manipulation? So, here we go again. Oh man. To manipulate, in this definition, is to “control or influence (a person or situation) cleverly or unscrupulously”. Manipulation is considered a negative thing to do, for good reason. To control someone or a scenario is generally seen as possessive, though it entirely depends. Manipulation can be used for good, and when it comes to roleplay, being manipulative is almost a necessity in politics. However, this can only be said for things that occur in character. Manipulating someone in character for their land, their money or their resources is entirely possible and oftentimes encouraged to provide and entertaining experience. Out-of-Character Manipulation Now let’s get to the point of the post. In-Character manipulation? That’s allowed. Manipulation Out-of-Character? That is not allowed. Manipulating a real life person for anything, not just for your own aspirations in character, is disallowed, against the rules and downright wrong. Anything in roleplay should and must stay specifically in character, and anything out of character should and must stay specifically out of character. If someone does something against you out of character, you are expected to take the necessary measures to ensure that person is punished for what they have done. By this, I mean reporting them to the appropriate member of authority. (AKA Server Staff, or in severe cases the police). It should not, however, leak into your character decisions. How about some examples: The Scenario Player A and Player B are having are not exactly the closest of friends. Player A and B are in a skype chat, and Player A isn’t particularly being the nicest of individuals. Player B calls A out on it, explaining their behaviour will not be tolerated and essentially sasses Player A out. Player A is upset with this, and because of that A starts to speak poorly about Player B in all kinds of chats. The scenario escalates so much so that Player A and Player B begin to rival one another Out-of-Character. Because of this, Player A decides that he wants to spite and attack Player B because of the scenarios occurring OOC. Player A then targets each of Player B’s characters, either wanting them killed or exiled, sent away to a location which will essentially make the character unplayable for Player B. The Problem This one is as simply as the others. Player A, despite the arguments and disputes with Player B, should not resort to leaking Out-of-Character into the In-Character world. This is not allowed, and essentially makes the entire situation and atmosphere unpleasant for everyone. Especially if Player A is of an influential position, and can cause sufficient damage to Player B. not only can this make Player B feel disinterested in playing their characters, it may also make them reluctant to create a character of the same type or even another character in general, out of fear of being targeted. This isn’t fair, for anyone involved. The Solution The solution here is simple. Do not leak anything Out-of-Character into In-Character. It is not allowed, and it isn’t fair for any parties involved. Simply put, the solution is to not let the two worlds cross. It causes problems, and not only can it lead to meta and powergaming, it causes disinterest and loss in motivation for anyone in the damage radius. If you are having problems with someone Out-of-Character, leave it out of character. If it reaches a point of problem, then report it to the appropriate people and allow them to handle it. Under no circumstances should people be afraid of role playing or creating new character out of fear of being targeted. Summary In brief? Don’t do it. It’s easy to want to punish someone or hurt someone because of Out-of-Character stuff, and no one will blame you for wanting to do that; however, it cannot actually happen. It’s not tolerated, in any means. As I have mentioned several times so far, it’s demotivating and inappropriate to target someone just for out of character means or measures. Never do this, never. You wouldn’t like it if it is done to you, so why should you do it to others? Limiting the Roleplay experience for someone simply because they’ve ticked you off Out-of-Character not only makes no sense In-Character, but it causes mass detriment to the server and roleplaying scene as a whole. But yep, all done. Cool stuff. Once again, questions, corrections. It’ll help us all. -Tahmas (Thomas) (Don’t be a nerd. Don’t be uninformed. Ask the questions. Do it.)
  8. My character is looking for small land to set up a cottage and farm, she can pay with a negotiated price and amounts of the crops she farms, along with other services she does like lumber. if you have a land for sale that isn't to big nor pricey then please either pm me or comment on this post!
  9. Usually OOC mistkes are fixed with a simple ((*mistakes But if one were to turn this grammatical error into an IC event- unique and entertaining roleplay is instantly formed. Example one- Player one: “How do ‘ye do? Me’ name is Frank.” Player two: “Howdy, would you like to purchase a cattot?” ((Here, player two obviously pressed the ‘t’ key instead of the ‘r’ key.)) Player two coughs abruptly, his voice caught in his throat. “Carrots, my good man. I’m getting old!” See here how this simple mistake spurred roleplay, it could also have created some kind of ‘inside joke’ between the two characters, possibly forming a friendship and creating more roleplay. Example two- Player one: “Mark! Get over here!” his arm flails in the air as he Mark him over. Player two: “What is it, Damen? What do you want?” Player one: “Please don’t kill.” He shakes his head. Player two’s eyes widen. “Who would I kill?” In this roleplay, player one meant to say ‘kill time’ but OOCly forgot the ‘time,’ which instantly sparks interesting roleplay. Example three- Player one: “I’ve never seen you around before, what’s your nam?” ((Player one typed ‘name’ incorrectly)) Player two: “You say the word ‘name’ in a very funny way, sir. Is it your accent? And I’m Ryar.” A conversation could instantly start here about player one’s accent, creating more roleplay. On another note, larger scale OOC events can be turned into a RP event- such as a group of people leaving the server- something that happened fairly recently. Using this as an example, in these circumstances roleplay can be created through turning the OOC situation into something IC, such as a plague or genocide. The truth to the matter is that people do mess up. People stutter, people miss words, people pronounce things incorrectly, people don’t always speak perfectly, and this is the same as roleplayers- which translates perfectly if one uses their mistakes within roleplay. Next time you make a mistake ingame, think about correcting it in roleplay, not OOC. Not only does doing this make you look professional and unique, it makes you look much better than how you would have looked if you simply fixed it OOCly.
