  1. From the stillness of a disembodied existence, wisps of lightless light surpass a familiar presence; You, an unseated entity stirred by the clutch of undying mists. Suddenly, You are bathed in excruciating light as your senses turn inward; You breathe stagnant air, and blink with lidless eyes. You don’t belong here. For the first time since the last time, You hear a voice; “It failed. Throw them back into the meat-hole, Deadmund!” This post is an event utilizing the Rite of Communion, and adheres to the redlines below. Two evildoers hunt for knowledge. If you’d like to participate in communion, send me a forum DM or contact me on discord, greyson_.

  4. The Bloody Fox’s Log Volume 2 104 of the Second Age It has been long overdue that I publish another log. The people of Almaris are due an explanation for all the travesty in the world today and I seek to bring about an element of that explanation. I am no great individual with no gods who have blessed me and no taint to possess me. But Sonnos has taught me how to be cunning and Morea has taught me to be brave. I have been at the venture of fighting what lurks in the dark for nearly my entire adult life. Never have I seen a place so filled with taint and corruption as the Principality of Celia’nor. I returned to Celia’nor after many years of exile to find a place that seemed to be following in the ways that we had set about when we founded the city. A place of peace and unity for those ostracized by The Silver State and the societies of Almaris that cast them out. As I settled there I found myself increasingly noticing the peculiarities with strange visitors in late hours to the castle and the use of violence against those undeserving. I explored the city and found obelisks beneath many homes, rooms filled with blood and gore from Aspects know what beasts. I found people of ill intent consorting with the nobility in every place I looked. I found myself no longer content in the waiting of the Princess to see the error of her ways for inaction leaves her no better than an instrument of violence, the same as a blade on the hip of cruelty. In a social at Starpool I could no longer stand aside and allow the evil that had festered to continue its walking in the sunlight. I felt the need to shove it back into the shadows it had come from. I crossed the ballroom floor and attempted to embed my dagger into the neck of a nephilim that sought to speak his foul tongue among the crowd. Then the Princess herself intervened, she threw her arm in the way of my blade and my thanium dagger laid a cut upon her arm. Simply examine her to know the truth of my words. Her inaction towards the corruption festering in her city now turned into a horrid defense of it. Her actions are inexcusable. Then at this moment a BSK Soldier and an Olog who had been pursuing this nephilim sprung forth to aid me. Brave individuals both, for we were surrounded by those who only sought to protect the beast’s ability to spew his corruption upon the world. Both were mercilessly cut down by a horde of Nephilim and Celia’norian mali despite their attempts to ease the crowd that had been so recklessly whipped up by Abdiel and Zodd. I just managed to escape as the Valah and Olog held them off for me to beseech the people of Almaris. I beg of the kind hearted and fair people of Celia’nor and of all of Almaris, do not allow taint to stain your cities. Fight against it in all of its forms. Signed, [!] A public letter would be sent to all corners of Almaris. Below the letter would be a list attached: Abdiel - A Cursed Being of Red Skin Zodd - A follower of Azdromoth with a forge in Celia’nor Coalskinned Azdrazi with Scales and Horns, Red Eyes - A Nephilim of Azdromoth who frequents Celia’nor
  5. An open letter to those who would trust Azdromothian Agents Grace be unto you from our Lord GOD, I am Lector Trevor Turnfield of The Flaming Covenant Cohort. I write not as a representative of the Lectorate but as a concerned man of the faith to you who would join in the crusade against iniquity we faithful children of GOD perpetuate. The leader of our opposition is the deceiver, the greatest and first of the liars who would peddle falsehoods even to his own forces in order to oppose the purity of GOD's kingdom and domain; there is no lengths he will not go to act as a snake in the grass and undermine our efforts. I have spoken with Azdromoth myself and despite what his servants may try to sell you I can say with absolute certainty the lizard is remorseless for his deceptions, though he claims to possess love that did not stop him from instructing his servants to infiltrate our governments, it did not stop him from slaying dozens of innocents in Elvenesse, it did not stop him from allowing his servants to seek unity with agents of the dark. Indeed I attended the curia where the first inquisition began and watched on as in response to their crimes the servants of Azdromoth burned churches, assassinated priests, and began waging unhinged war across all Almaris. In all these decades they have not improved, they have not sought redemption, they have continued to infiltrate- From Oren, to Krugmar, to Urguan, to Balian, to Savoy and countless others they have been in the shadows playing their games and as the adage says 'fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.' I for one refused to be fooled by crocodile tears and feigned regret another second. I have watched on for fifty years as these beasts have grown more profane and desperate, how they attempt to deceive and curry favor with us after their transgressions as even when we offered Azdromoth penance and instruction on how to truly come into the creator's light we were rejected. The Lizardmen have been given every fair chance to do as GOD would will, they have been given every fair chance to act with integrity and honor, and they have been given every fair chance to distance themselves from their deceitful and wicked master but they have refused in favor of pointing blame when they themselves aim to tangle descendants in their infighting. They speak to us now of trying to honor the Horenic pact which they have broken by siding with GOD's own enemy and claiming it as 'trickery' - if your master knows it to be a trick and continues to serve then it is no trick, it is knowing blasphemy. Trust not these lizards in lambs clothing, they are wicked. Asioth is little more than a draconic aberration of Xionism, and Xionism is heresy. Check every armed man for tattoos of dragonkind, take potions of ice and steel to the lizards you see. And if you yourself reading this are a servant of Azdromoth and your will to fulfill the Horenic pact is true: Save we faithful sons of Horen the trouble and mount yourself upon the crucifix in our stead. SEREMVS * DELENDA * EST
  6. Villain applications are gone! Whee! It’s been almost two weeks and there’s been a noticeable increase in evil activity now that everyone and their mother can murder, steal, and enslave to their heart’s desire. As a result, many more people are also being impacted by these new villains, one of whom would be me. I play primarily non-combative women so it’s to be expected. Personally, I think terrifying or difficult circumstances are great ways to develop my characters and usually find them pretty fun. But with the evil flood gates open wide there’s going to be some who struggle with creating quality, enjoyable experiences. That’s understandable, and I’d like to offer some critiques and suggestions from the perspective of someone often on the receiving end of villainy. For this post I’ll be using examples of villainous RP I’ve encountered in the last week, and showing how they can be improved, and also some things you should try to avoid. These aren’t rules, obviously, but they are things I think everyone would benefit from. Killing - When It’s Unnecessary Roleplay Scenario: Bandit One distracts clueless and mostly defenseless woman. Bandit Two sneaks up behind her with a bow, ready to shoot. Bandit One draws his sword and demands that the woman give up her money or else! Bandit Two creeps closer to the woman, making a sound. Woman hears said sound and turns around to see Bandit Two. Bandit Two shoots woman, Bandit One slits her throat to end her misery, and they make off with her purse. What’s wrong with that? The bandits wanted money and they got money, why would they care if they killed a random woman? They were certainly acting within their characters, and that’s all that matters, right? Indeed! Nothing is objectively wrong here, however it’s not very much fun for the victim. When you kill someone in roleplay that character dies and forgets all about the incident. All that’s left for the victim to do is go to the monks, then go about their business like nothing ever happened. There are no lasting impacts, the whole scenario may as well have been voided. As harsh as it may sound, it was a waste of the victim’s time. Killing.. kills roleplay. If you leave your victim alive they have the chance to grow from their experience. The bandits could have given the woman a chance to react. To cooperate with them, or beg, or run, or even fight back. Or they could have simply wounded her and left her for dead. From there she could have rallied up the town to search for them, or given the local doctor some medical RP with her injuries. The biggest piece of advice I can offer is to avoid killing your victims. If you take anything from this post, please take this. Killing a character kills roleplay. But certainly there are some situations where a character has to die, right? To that I say, but of course. Killing - When It’s Unavoidable Roleplay Scenario: Halfling Lady is casually gardening. Troll with Club encounters said Halfling lady and tries to squash her with his club. Halfling Lady dodges the club, then screams for help and tries to run away. No one hears, or responds. Troll with Club knocks Halfling over, then grabs her and runs off into the woods. Halfling Lady screams and flails and acts indignant. Troll with Club promptly sits down and bites her in half. Well. You can say the same thing about the troll as you could about the bandits, that it was acting in character. It wanted a snack, that’s what it got. There’s a little less possibility of letting the halfling survive, since it wouldn’t make much sense for the hungry troll to just not eat her. I suppose he could bite off an arm or leg and decide he doesn’t like how she tastes. or accidentally let her slip away. Regardless, my point is that there are going to be some cases where death is inevitable. Maybe your character doesn’t want to eat anyone (maybe they do…), maybe they’re an evil monster and someone has stumbled into their lair. Maybe they’re an assassin targeting a person of import. Maybe they’re just a serial killer. Doesn’t really matter, your character’s victim’s fate is sealed. Then what? Simple. Give them a good death. Make it interesting, fun, unique. The troll could’ve taken the halfling back to his cooking pot and made a stew. That would’ve been more amusing than being bitten in half on the spot. Presumably this person is at your mercy by now, this is a chance to really show off your evil rp. My suggestion for you, when you’re about to kill someone’s character, is that you ask yourself: Is this death worthy of being a perma-kill? If this person killed off their character and wrote up a death post on the forums complete with pictures and dramatic music, would the comments be, “Awesome! Did this actually happen in RP!?” When the RP is concluded, will your victim thank you for the cool RP? Aim for that. Do your best to have fun, and give your victim a fun time too. If you must kill, make it count. This kind of unavoidable murder RP is actually pretty rare from what I’ve seen. Now let’s move on to my favorite! The type of villainy that has probably increased the most! (At least for me.) Kidnapping and Slavery Roleplay Scenarios 1: Slaver hits clueless and sort of defenseless woman over the head. Woman is unconscious. Slaver locks woman up in a cell. Woman wakes up. Slaver goes about other business. Woman is locked in a cell alone for two IRL hours. It’s pretty obvious what’s wrong here, and it can easily be avoided by being attentive and giving your victim something to do. I’ve had fun experiences with both random kidnappings and actual slavery, and all you have to do is interact with the captive. Just like in the killing example, this is your chance to show off your RP ability. Throwing someone in a cell or knocking their character over the head repeatedly so that they have nothing to do besides emote how much brain damage they’re going to suffer from isn’t really stimulating RP for your victim. This one is hopefully pretty easy to do, just RP with your captive. Side Note! Unconsciousness! It is actually a lot harder to knock someone out than the movies portray. In order to hit someone over the head hard enough to render them unconscious you would also be causing some pretty serious brain trauma, and are just as likely to kill them instead. Even if you do knock them out, they’ll only be out for a few moments. Most people go along with the movie cliche because it’s simply easier for everyone involved (I’d rather not RP permanent brain injury just yet), but it is something to keep in mind. And as mentioned previously, your victim’s RP is pretty limited when they’re out cold. Torture I haven’t actually had many recent experiences with torture and from what I have seen so far, those dedicated enough to evil-ness to become torturers have a pretty good idea on how to do it well. The same basic suggestions remain, be attentive and give your victim quality RP. They didn’t ask to be tortured, so it’s up to you to keep things going. In addition, be careful about other people’s sensibilities. If you think someone might not be as comfortable with gore, tone it down. Other people might want a lot of gore, or perhaps they’d prefer more psychological torture instead of blood. There also comes a point where there's nothing more your victim can do besides emote screaming, so try to keep a conversation going if you can. Respect The Other Player As I said, your victim didn’t ask to be your victim, you have most likely set your RP upon them. So be considerate in how you use their time. And don’t assume I’m, well, vilifying villains. Respect and consideration goes both ways. There are probably just as many bad victims as there are bad villains. Every player needs to do their part in creating roleplay and being considerate to others. Bonus roleplay scenario of both slavery AND killing done well: Druid woman is snooping around the old white rose ruins. Encounters a band of slavers that have taken up residence. Druid is knocked over the head and placed in a dungeon. Slavers continue to RP, including branding the druid’s arm. Slavers take woman back upstairs, they just happen to be near a tree, and proceed trying to ‘break’ her. Druid makes an attempt to use her powers on the tree. Chaos and tree-burning ensues. Slavers accuse her of being a witch, and decide she must be killed. After several detailed emotes, the druid is executed and her body burned. What makes this work? The slavers were attentive, they RPed in detail, and even though they chose to kill the druid, their IC reasoning was solid and the death was done well and thoroughly. All around an enjoyable RP session. All you need to do is remember… Killing kills roleplay. If death is necessary, make it good. Interact with your captive with detail and attentiveness. Be considerate to other players. Really, if you just keep number four in mind, you'll be golden. Go forth and be evil!
  7. Deep in a forest a hidden book bound in human skin lies under a rock, waiting to be read. The writing is scribbled in blood with a nervous and shaky hand. The cover has "The Forgotten" etched into it. Once the cover is turned over, an awful smell fills the air for miles, the animals flee the area sensing the danger, the plants wilt, and the fog sets in. The book begins to call the readers name, luring them into it. The top of the first page reads "THEI OUGHT NOT BE FORGOTTEN" It continues onto the page saying "He sent us into the forest to play, he told us we did nothing but ruin his work. We were very sad, we decided to wait for him to be done say our apologies. We waited off in the distance, till he finished his work after three hours. We gathered fruit and made our way back to the cottage where we put it at his feet and begged for forgiveness. He banished us from ever returning home, we begged and he returned with 'over his dead body' we moved to the forest. We starved that first night, we grew weak in a short time. On the rise of the second day we returned home to apologize to him again, he grabbed our youngest of kin, and broke his neck. The sound of the shattered little boys neck echoed across our land. He then screeched at us to leave him alone and never come back. We took our brother and returned to the forest. We were forced to eat our fallen kin, tears were shed as we ate the flesh. We fell ill from the meat, not much rest was given that night. We spent the night regurgitating him. Eventually we fainted from the pain and sadness come over us. When I woke my brother had lost his mind, he began pacing and speaking to himself loudly saying 'Brother is gone, Sister is safe. Brother is gone, Sister is safe. Brother is gone, Sister is safe.' I assured him I was indeed safe. He looked at me, his eyes empty, and ran. I tried to chase him, but I had no strength and fell. I was unable to get up and he returned hours later with two small children, one in each hand. He screamed at them repeatedly asking them why they forgot about us. When they stopped answering and just started crying, he tied them to a tree and began eating into their chest. Telling them to feel our pain. I tried to push him away, but he struck me and told me that father sent them for us. It leads on to smudges and crossed out writing until the next page where only some of the title is legible. WE WILL BE SAFE NOW WE ARE TOGETHER I knew brother was right, but the town did not listen to him. He was hanged, how dare they hang a god like him. I will see them all ravaged by feral wolves for their misdeeds against a true king. I shouted at them and attacked the guards told them they would die soon. Their feeble minds said I was a witch, I was tied to the stake and set ablaze. The flames only felt better as my true being was set free. Now we returned home and lure them to us and take them one by one. They will repay us in the blood we lost. The rest of the page has random writings of eternal torment and killings among smudges and illegible writing How it works: Three players, two male skins and one female, roam the forests and when a player either comes close to their 'home' or picks up the book they're a target. The animals flea, plants wilt, fog sets in, and the smell of death rises. How ever they want to rp it is up to them. ((Idk sorry if it sucks, I'm tired and was feeling a little dark :P))
