  1. A Traveller’s Guide to the Hamlet of Enswerp [!] Depiction of the Hamlet on a sunny day c. 1964 [Credit and huge thanks to @Borinand @Capace for the awesome build!] THE HAMLET OF ENSWERP Established in 1964, the Hamlet of Enswerp is designed to help protect one of the primary routes into eastern Aevos and the majority of the Apostolic Kingdom’s land. Ser Stefano Montelliano was bestowed the honor of being the hamlet’s first bailiff, and with the help of Crown Prince Charles the region was quickly raised up to provide a home for the local peasantry. As a result, Enswerp has become a suitable place for those seeking a rural lifestyle without the oversight of the Peerage & Nobility. As long as you are of a Canonist lifestyle, then you are welcome to the hamlet. There’s very little that is disallowed, and the community is welcoming of those that seek a new life beyond the norm of other realms and settlements. Within the hamlet, there is an increased degree of autonomy that is uncommon in other human villages. This is due to the relationship that any resident may develop between the Bailiff and themselves. AN OPEN INVITATION WITH BENEFITS There are several, potential reasons why someone would wish to settle in Enswerp. This is not a complete list, but simply some highlights for those that might find themselves interested... I. Low Taxes The Hamlet of Enswerp, despite its prime location, is not a place for those who want to spend colossal sums of golden coins on their upkeep - quite the contrary. The taxes levied on the Hamlet are modest, each citizen is required to contribute an amount of TEN MINAE which, in conversion, amounts to ONE FULL ENSWERP MARK a year. At the moment the Office of the Bailiff does not foresee a tax increase. II. Greater Inclusiveness Our settlement is small, focused on slow development built on the basis of cooperation and good neighbourly relations. It doesn't matter who you are - human, elf, dwarf or gnome, you will always be welcome here as long as you follow the rules of the hamlet. Every day since the village was founded we have been meeting new faces who stop for a while during the long journey through the Lowlands before continuing on their way - this is how we build positive relations and improve our reputation. III. Work Enswerp offers several job opportunities - ranging from farmer to militia member, and perhaps one day the Bailiff himself. However, one should not think that this is the only thing that needs to be done. When the time comes to implement the project ordered by the Bailiff, every resident, regardless of their gender, should get to work to jointly build the village's future. CULTURE & SOCIETY Location: Our village is located on the east bank of the River Leone, right in front of the ruins of Andregrad, once the capital of the Duchy of Stran. The architecture is predominantly wooden, as is the bridge, St. Daniel's Crossing, which allows travelers to cross the river. Once on the east bank of the river, travellers are greeted by a small local tavern - Stefano's Greasy Spoon - where they can rest as well as eat and drink for ONE MINAE. Deep in the woods to the left of the tavern stands Fort Alba, which acts as a local garrison where the Bonnie Brigade, the local militia, is stationed. Further towards the ruins of Andregrad lies the hamlet where the entire, however small, population of Enswerp lives. In addition to the vast farmlands, the settlement itself has a humble smithy, an apiary where we produce our local honey and the church of the Blessed Calliope of Merryweather. Prominent Individuals: Charles Reman Alstion - The Lord of Alba - @Olox_ Ser Stefano Montelliano - The first Bailiff of Enswerp - @Sebbysc Jan Nowak - The Captain of the Bonnie Brigade - @Pork Lembic Urbran - Local Gnome Doctor - @siglms_ Signed, Ser Stefano Montelliano, the Bailiff of Enswerp Jan Nowak, the Captain of the Bonnie Brigade HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS, Charles Reman Alstion, the Lord of Alba
  2. Along the streets of Talar'nor, a proposal or better described as invitation is put up through posters amongst several street walls and noticeboards. All of which invite those of the elitist variety, those who aspire to aristocracy and class to assist in the beginning of a new standing guild within the city walls. The Society of Common and Unified Mali The time for the Aristocracy to rise is now. Talar'nor needs a cultured community of people to guide etiquette and enhance the city's dwindling spark. With the forwarding of the Common and Unified Mali, a society of people shall form to bring prosperity and a proper sense of being to the denizens of this nation. The starting structure for this guild's code of conduct are as follows: i. Carry oneself with a high sense of being, one must be concise and literate with a proper sense of class and culture. Hold yourself with fine morals that line well with the codes of Talar'nor society. ii. Be irrefutable to the public. One's status should not be questioned or easily shattered, do not allow your position in the guild to become a topic of debate. iii. Be reputable, one must hold a craft or talent and wield it as well as ink and paper. Let known your ability and wield it to heighten the society. The society's activities would include typical assemblies, where topics of the world are brought into question, be it war or people of interest. Typically entertainment will be provided, betting on combats or races, or travels to other communities are all favoured activities for this guild. Recruitment will open simply as those keen on interested, once a selection of individuals who pen their names upon this notice are chosen and reviewed then further aspirants may be permitted to join upon accepting and achieving a challenge or goal set by communal decision of those already present within. If you find yourself with piqued interests in joining this guild, please pen your name below.
  3. [!] An open letter is addressed to the nobility of the haeseni population. For far too long, the honor and dignity of my family has been insulted to a large extent. Now, this for the majority of time, has been directed towards myself. However, recently, some of this public ire has been passed down to my family. Which is in the highest sense, ret**ded. There are some among the higher echelons of society that use their status of nobility to justify heinous attitudes towards their contemporaries of lower status, which is what I acknowledge myself to be at this moment. And as such, with respect for the institution of nobility, and with full love for every citizen of the glorious kingdom in which I live… Shut. Up. Take this not as an insult, but as a point of view. For I have many loving friends and lifelong companions with noble status, all of whom I enjoy spending time with. However, not many… no, hardly a fraction of those nobles who speak ill of myself or my family have ever interacted with me or my kin enough to have reasonably formed such opinions. Be wary of those who take no hesitancy to speak about you, but hardly find the opportunity to speak with you. This should not be a trait of those who are supposed to represent Haense’s finest population. This should not be a trait of those who use the justification of blood birth to hold high positions in our government and public face. Be more Brave to confront me. Whether in public or private, to speak with me as I have with others. I do not bite. If any among my statesmen have a problem with me, make it known, and we can work toward a solution. Be more Loving. For do you not have compassion for those who share a vast swath of northern land with you? If it is so, why do you suffer to spend so much time in our nation’s capital, instead of sitting in your vassal holdings and being pampered and flattered by maids whilst having your hair done? Be more Tactful, for if it is befitting of you and your family to employ underhanded schemes and private gossip to diminish the popularity of a figure, would it not make such an endeavor more effective to wear a smile on your public visage, while carrying a snowball of toxicity behind your back, ready to launch attacks at your lessers as soon as their gazes are differently oriented? If the nobility is to be respected, they cannot forgo the responsibility of cordiality that is expected of them. However, no perfect man puts his quill to parchment at the time this is written. It is a certainty, on equal measure of taxes and death itself, that there will be those who disagree with this opinion. For those, I implore you, speak your mind to rationalize what about this missive you disagree with, leaving the reputation of it’s writer (however justified or unjustified it may be), as a distant detail - As opposed to the fundamental basis for disregarding, that those who even still will take into large account my reputation (however justified or unjustified it may be), will use. Signed, Ser Erwin Bishop The Headhunter, Patriarch of House BIshop, ((OOC: This parts prolly more important to read than the above stuff))
  4. Thought I'd drop by the forums and propose this as its something that I've been thinking about for a while. It's my understanding that Orcs (both OOC and IRP) have had a bad reputation for quite a while on the server and I am both curious as to why that is and what I can do to change some people's experiences with the race/culture. My goal as the Rex is to have Orcs be both a contributor to overall server community and also bring back the enjoyable RP I experienced during Orc eras of the past. This means creating a healthy and friendly environment, one as free from toxicity as can be and one that is rooted in RP. With that being said, I now have a few questions I would like ANYONE to answer below. I encourage free dialogue if anyone wishes to discuss the points brought up and I will do my best to answer any questions people may have or ideas they want to propose to me directly. Question 1: What is one thing you dislike about Orcs/Krugmar? How can it be improved? Question 2: What is one thing you like/admire about Orcs/Krugmar? Question 3: What do you think Orcs/Krugmar biggest opportunity for improvement is?
  5. “To Safeguard Happiness” The Elvenesse Revelry Guild The Aegis Adventurers Seen typically within fine taverns or wandering the beautiful streets of Elvenesse, those within the Wyn’okar are not out-going adventurers or mercenaries but morerather fun-loving individuals or seasoned veterans of whom seek to improve the homelife and participate in different activities Elvenesse has to offer. They are the homefront guild, those who wish to see the city prosper. Those within the revelry guild are those who enjoy the warm moonlit nights in festivals or the hot summers in the forest racing against their friends in competitive games. The Revelry guild also promotes the ideal that all citizens should have basic training and are ready to fight, as to protect the homefront in times of danger. For who better to match steel with steel in raids than those who are passionate for their country? Guild structure and role The Wyn’okar is based mainly around event organisers and simple members who associate with the guild, apart from that there is no ranking. The revelry guild is a guild designed around event organisation within Elvenesse and its lands and for that reason activities will typically remain within such limits. The guild prospers around promoting cultural teaching, homeland defence, drinking, sports and living life to it’s best capabilities. “Yallrn’eyha bida!” - “Live and Drink!” Application and Upon joining The Wyn’okar application process is simple, sign up and attend its activities. There’s no uniform and there’s no enforcement to attend - though it is best advised - the main purpose of the guild is to promote community activities, allow individuals to create new friends during such activities and improve the homeland of Elvenesse tenfold. Many within the Wyn’okar are taught light history in both Sea and Wood elven culture which further allows them to teach and welcome newcomers to Elvenesse, especially those who are from estranged Sea or Wood elven backgrounds. Application For those wishing to come join the land of Elvenesse and take part in it’s activities there is a small letter pre-written and attached at the bottom of the poster, allowing for one to send a message to a designated location via avian. (Send a forum message or message within the Elvenesse Discord) IC: Name Race Age Citizen of Elvenesse? OOC: Username: Discord: - Out Of Character Description - The Wyn’okar is an event organising guild, this is a prime place for those who wish to get involved in roleplay within Elvenesse to find a group to get engaged with. I plan on holding a wide variety of events, from fun stuff like races down rivers, constant parties and culture learning rp. You’ll also get a little bit of PvP training, CRP training and so forth, meaning it’s a well rounded guild for those who wish to join a society to roleplay with inside of Elvenesse whilst also developing themselves.
