  1. Dark Shamanism (Best portraying an advanced Dark Shaman Far Seer.) Disclaimers and Stuffinhizors Alright, let's get down to business. This lore is to clear up a lot of things about Dark Shamanism. It had existed before, however, lot of the lore is lost and none of it is official. I've talked to a bunch of Shamans about Dark Shamanism (In the past) and many of them agreed to it. I've decided to re-post this thread to see if it can actually get into the "Lore". The last one was archived. How it works. Dark Shamanism is a different way of getting Spirits to aid you. Instead of convincing them, you use a set of different magics to negatively influence/force the Spirit to give it's True Name and make the pact, giving you power over the Spirit. It is then forced to do whatever you'd like as long as the dark magic keeps influencing it. (Any subtype from the Dark Arts/Antagonist magic will be able to influence them negatively.) Dark Shamanism is not a different magic all on it's own, but rather just a different method with severe side affects. Think of it as "The Corruption of Magic", however that it only affects Shamanism and it's sub-types. With this said, let's go on to the next paragraph. Alright, let's explain a scenario and explain how the magic process would work through it. First, you must connect to the Spirit World. You must conserve as much energy as possible, so the usual method of candle lighting/cactus green/heavy meditation is needed. As you connect to the Spirit Plane/realm, you must then call upon your Dark Magics. For this to even work, you must be advanced/intermediate in whatever Shaman sub-type you are trying to darkly influence, because summoning the two magics, even for a ritual, will be difficult. Once you have called upon your dark magics, you get the Spirit to come to you once connected. Then, the user use himself, his soul, as an anchor between the physical plane and the Spiritual plane. This process is difficult, and the magic will seep through you and into the Spiritual plane. You must then apply it to the Spirit at hand, and use it to negatively decide their decisions. There are two ways to go about this: Influencing Using your dark magic, you can influence the Spirit at hand. You can use it barely enough so that the Spirit agrees to make the pact, even if there is a negative to it. (You're a whitewash Orc, for example, and normally it wouldn't do so.) However, since the magic is subtle, the Spirit may realize it's mistake and leave you entirely, and you must find a new Spirit to practice on. This is a risky way, but it is more subtle than forcing. Once the pact is made, and when magic is channeled into the Physical Plane, bits and pieces of the dark magic you originally used will show, but not as much as forcing someone. The side affects will be cut in half, however still noticeable Forcing Using your dark magic, you can completely and utterly force a Spirit to do your will. It's like using your dark magic and slamming it's face onto the table. It is aware you are negatively influencing it a lot, however it is completely powerless to do anything. Other spirits will take notice immediately if this evil magic and may "tell on you" to other Shamans. Massive amounts of dark magic will pour through the channeled magic, and will make your Shaman magic extremely noticeable. Hold your Horses! But Treshure, doesn't this allow for non-Orcs to force Spirits to do their bidding? Actually, no. Spirits can see who is calling them before they actually make themselves present. If they see a human calling out to them... #nope. Besides, even as a Spirit is there and you are about to/influencing them, they may catch on and leave before it can affect them. So no, it does not warrant for whitewash to suddenly use Shamanism. (With Dark Arts.) What Happens? Before we go any further, your dark magic does not corrupt the Spirit, but rather the magic it sends out. The spirit is far too powerful for your magic to affect it, but the power it sends out is affected. Think of it as a train station. The train controller is the Spirit, the train is the magic being sent out, and the dark magic is like a 1920s hobo jumping onto it. With this being said, the dark magic will negatively influence the sub-types of Shamanism. These are the effects: Elementalism: As tiers progress, fire will turn blacker, the earth will be slightly tainted as you move it around. Water will become blackened and dusty, turning someone extremely sick if they were to drink it. Finally, air would have a nasty, blackened tinge to it. Luataman: As the magic seeps into you, yourself, your skin turns blackened and shows sign of age. Your blood turns a blacker color. However, in the heat of Orcish bloodlust, your power is heightened. Witchdoctor: Your blessings will become less potent as the dark magic seeps through your power, and your curses and taints will become stronger. Your potions and lands affected have a musty, old, rotten smell to them. Far Seer: The Dark Magic clouds your ability of sight, your sightings becoming darker. You frequently see more dark, sinister things in the future than happy and pleasant ones. Even if it is happy, it is turned upside down as your point of view becomes negative. Conclusion In conclusion, I'd like to thank everyone who has contributed to the ideas above. (A lot of the Shaman Community.) Keep in mind, if this magic is accepted, it has not and will not be common. A tome or two will be written on the study of it, so with perseverance, there is a chance. On top of that, Shamans will find out about your Dark Shamanism if you aren't extremely careful about it. As in, barely using the magic itself. It is hard to make Shamans and Spirits unaware of this. On a good, happy note, I shall wrap up this thread.
