In these trying times, the Pontiff and his Curia have deemed it imperative to call upon all men of great piety, indomitable fervor, and unwavering dedication to enlist as Brothers in Arms in defense of the flock, a new Holy Order styled as the Poor Fellow-Soldiers of Saint Jude. HISTORY // HISTORIA Under the astute guidance of His Holiness, Jude I’s pontificate, the Mother Church saw a golden age of monasticism and theology among the ranks of the clergy, the Holy Sisterhood of Blessed Catherine and the Holy Order of Saint Lucien saw most of the opposite. Slowly creeping out of the public eye, the Order dissolved after the death of Rakim Yar, the final Grand Master. In the years that followed, humanity was left absent of any of its once proud and far reaching Orders, a great vacancy that allowed for ambitious parties to seek a revival of a militant body in service of the Mother Church. Through the infamous ‘Red Men’ and the dormant Order of Saint Nicolas, canondom has found itself under a looming darkness of uncertainty and fear, with no men to defend it. It is with great accountability that Holy Ser Halston Veyont has seen fit to call for His flock to reignite the fervorous embers of the Faith Militant, in unquestioning and unwavering deviation to the Lord GOD. Through this iron resolve, men from across Canondom are called to Order against the forces of the sinful, the heathen, and the schismatic. It is with great privilege that able bodied men of the faith are called to once again bear arms for the Lord GOD. Graced and christened by His Holiness, Sixtus V in the blessed year of 1942, The Holy Order of Poor Fellow-Soldiers of Saint Jude has been assigned to spread, maintain, and defend the Word of GOD throughout the Canondom, and all other realms. Since the initial creation of The Holy Order the holy men of GOD have achieved much, providing food and blankets to Lemonhill and Whitespire in their time of need, dispatching ice witch influence within both regions. Slaying the vile soldiers of the dead man company, delivering justice to a creature that bombed petra, and slaying a daemon in the forest by Sakuragakure. 3. ♫♫♫ “I fear no battle - let them come! Let them falter at the thunder of marching boots, for the Templars of Malchediael stand firm this day!” Twice Ordained Upon a templar reaching tier 3, and with the aid of their teacher, they may further open themselves to the will of Malchediael, renewing their vows twofold and allowing the blessing of the Aengul of Courage to grow - this necessitating a greater strain upon their soul, but allowing them greater power in turn. This is typically done by the commanding Templar beckoning their student to kneel, wherein something akin to a knighting ceremony would occur - ending with the teaching Templar invoking their Aengul, and allowing him to act through them to strengthen their student’s blessing. However, this ceremony may be freeform so long as it pertains to themes of chivalry, valor, and knighthood. Redlines: To be twice-ordained requires an additional slot to fill after reaching tier 3 as their connection to Malchadiael grows - e.g, Templars of Malchediael would now take 2 slots, as opposed to 1. Only a T5 Templar with the ability to teach may ordain a student twicefold. The ceremony may be whatever the teaching Templar desires, so long as it pertains to the described themes. Once one has been ordained twice, this must be marked on their MA. Courageous Cavalier Upon being ordained twofold, a Templar of Malchediael would find themselves to possess a greater affinity for mounts and steeds, the true compatriots to any self-respecting knight. This passive effect would enable the Templar to, guided by their patron Aengul's will, tame and rear equines and other battle-worthy steeds much swifter than one otherwise would - and once they have bonded and formed a kinship with their steed, would extend their blessing to the animal in some minor fashion. While mounted on horseback, a Templar of Malchediael would move at twice the speed they would otherwise be able to, able to move double the number of blocks than normal (at the time of posting, 4 block movement would be extended to 8 blocks). Likewise, their passive "Emboldened & Disheartened" would be applied to the steed as well. Templars of Malchediael who have dedicated a second slot to the magic would find themselves able to tame and rear mounts & steeds easier, so long as the mount is able to be ridden in combat. This is not to say they are granted druidic abilities, merely that their blessing would subtly affect the steed and make it more amicable to being tamed. Untameable creatures remain untameable. In combat, while on horseback, a Templar would be able to move approximately twice the distance as one would otherwise be able to. The Templar’s passive “Emboldened & Disheartened” would likewise apply to the mount they’d bonded with, making it harder to frighten and more eager to charge into battle. The Battle-Prayers of Malchediael As the templar are beset with many foes, armor and sword are not their only means to eradicating evil. As the Chosen of Malchediael, the templar are capable of calling upon the Aengul of Courage to assist them through citing battle prayers, the most famous being Second Chance. Different from the other spells of the Templar, the battle-prayers are specific effects spoken by words of intention. Such prayers function because of their latent blessing to the Aengul himself, utilizing prayers and canticles in His name to beckon him forth so that he may assist them. This process is a delicate thing, for to invoke the Aengul so is a process requiring utmost reverence and attention, unable to be performed while charging in the van. Mechanics: As mentioned, Battle-prayers must be channeled via holy scripture. If the voice is hindered in any way, unable to breathe, unable to speak, unable to be heard, the prayer will cease. Each prayer has a specific scripture and phrase they must adhere to, if even a single word is skipped or misspoken, then that will ruin the entire prayer and its effect will not manifest. As battle prayers invoke the Aengul directly and are taxing on their connection, only three can be spoken in a single ooc day as Malchediael does not wish to overdo these boons. The Battle-prayers of Malchediael may only be utilized once one has been twice-ordained. Battle-prayers are unable to be used in active combat by the templar praying, should their mind be focused on anything beyond speaking the words of intention, Malchediael will not heed them. This however does not mean it cannot be cited in a combative scenario, only that you cannot actively be in combat, e.g attacking an individual or defending yourself. If a prayer is interrupted, it must be started from the beginning. Battle-prayers are not inherent abilities, and must be taught on an individual basis. Groups of Templars may have specific prayers that they speak to activate the Battle-Prayer, but such is not an explicit requirement; though it is encouraged! One is limited to moving at half of their available speed while channeling a Battle-Prayer Prayer of Ailment As the templars stand for courage and the will to never cower, it is considered a craven act to use poison upon Malchadiaels chosen. Thus, Malchediael’s leal servants possess the power to rebuff such cowardice. Mechanics: This spell requires three emotes to cast, one to begin the prayer, focusing inwards as you invoke Malchediael and the intention behind your words. The second to continue with your connection established, beginning to cite the words. The third is to finish the prayer, holy magic beginning to glow from within the body of the templar wherever the poison has taken root. This spell may neutralize a given poison within [1] area of the Templar’s body, such as any one of the limbs, or the torso region - the Aengul of Courage rebuking the cowardly method of combat. Until the end of a given combative encounter, the area that was cleansed of poison would be unable to be poisoned again. This prayer may only be used once per encounter. The prayer only affects poisons, meaning alchemy and certain materials such as Azhl, thanhium, mystically altered poisons, etc. (if you are unaware if the prayer can affect a certain thing, contact ST) Should the Templar be focused on anything besides the prayer the effect will not manifest. (i.e. active combat, speaking with someone else) Should the poison affect your ability to speak the words clearly, to the point of the problems mentioned above, the prayer will not work. (If you got poisoned in the throat etc.) This is a Tier 3 Spell Prayer of Deliverance Upon sighting a flame which may prove dangerous, a Templar is able to ask for the Aengul Malchediael to grant a temporary shielding light, cocooning around them to protect from heat and flame. Rendering them unable to be licked by the fire or suffer burns upon their clothing or skin. Mechanics: The prayer requires three emotes, one to begin the prayer, invoking Malchediael and your intention. The second to continue with your connection established, beginning to cite the words. The third is to finish the prayer, wrapping the whole form of the templar in a holy shield which lasts for four emotes. Whilst the prayer’s effect will stave off any heat or flame being able to burn your skin or singe your clothing, it will not protect you from toxic fumes or blinding smoke. Natural fire consists of anything made of the natural world, meaning conventional fire and alchemical flame are affected by this prayer. What fumes or other effects are made from natural flame however can move past the shield. Fire of a magical, Infernal, Draconic, or voidal nature are not affected by the shield and may pass through. If you are on fire and try to pray to put yourself out, it ain’t gonna work. Naturally due to the fact you are on fire and can’t concentrate on the prayer. This is a Tier 4 Spell Prayer of Salvation Often it is that the Templars come into conflict with Malchediaels foes; warlocks of the foulest sort, cowardly magi like craven rats, and the vermin that plague the world at large. Whatever they may be, the Templar possesses a powerful canticle to ward off foul magicks, though it is a costly task. Mechanics: The prayer requires three emotes, one to begin the prayer, invoking Malchediael and your intention. The second to continue with your connection established, beginning to cite the words. The third is to finish the prayer, projecting a candescence of holy light from the Templar’s palm, which would rush out to meet the target spell - the result being decided by a roll out of 20, succeeding on a roll of 12+. This would nullify a single spell of t4 strength that would be cast or affect an area or target within 6m of the Templar - applicable types of magic to be blocked by this prayer include Voidal, Dark, and Deific magics. This may only be cast once per combative encounter. This ability takes the form of a projectile to be flung at the offending spell - and thus necessitates a successful roll in order to take effect properly, the projectile missing upon a failure. When it comes to event spells, event magicks, or similar, the presiding E.T may decide if this spell would even work at all. Must be cast as the offending spell is being loosed - it can not reverse the damage of an already cast spell, or dispel it. It may be held for a duration of [3] emotes in preparation before the Templar is forced to cast the spell. This is a Tier 5 Spell The Blessed Banners of Malchediael’s Chosen Unlike the servants of Xan or Tahariae, the nomadic nature of the Templars in ages past meant that they rarely ever had monasteries or sanctums to call their own. This does not mean they held no items of reverence on their person, as battle standards were often adopted. These banners held within them their own latent connection to Malchediael, though not as strong as the Templar themselves. They are not only a means to rally their own numbers but also act as amplifiers to their blessings. The main component to craft such a banner is the holy textile itself. Such cloth is scavenged from battlefields where valorous deeds had been fought, symbolic gestures to the very ideals they hold. Mechanics: By utilizing their latent blessing, three Templars of Malchediael may craft a mobile testament to their Aengul’s glory, akin to a Paladin Chancery or the Clerical Temples of yore. This is done through a freeform ritual performed by the participants, one of which must be T5 and twice-ordained - this ritual and its aesthetics may be anything of the Templars’ choice, so long as such pertains to themes of valor, courage, knighthood, and chivalry. While there is no set emote count, it is expected that the roleplay performed to create one of these banners be high quality, given their significance. The cloth used to craft the banner must be harvested or procured from the aftermath of an event site, war claim, or otherwise significant combative encounter, as it is symbolic of, and an embodiment of, the Templar’s true nature. Alternatively, a banner that has been carried into one of the aforementioned sorts of conflict and emerged intact would suffice for the purposes of the ritual. This banner would carry a latent aura of divinity about it, making its nature as a holy relic clear in plainest fashion to any who would look upon it. The item used for this banner would be given the ‘Significant Magical Item’ tag, so as to prevent it being soulbound or hidden in an enderchest. Aesthetically, the Banner may be made as the Templars would wish it to, and the images upon the cloth may even be animated so as to display a particular story or victory of the Templars. Though not necessary to connect new Templars, the Blessed Banner holds its own connection to the Aengul of Courage, which may carry its own latent, passive blessings that it would impart unto nearby allies, designated ‘Augments.’ As well, the Blessed Banner enables the casting of particular feats of Aengulic sorcery when the need is dire, dubbed ‘Clarion Calls.’ Other than these properties, the banner is otherwise a mundane flag wrought of whatever materials the Templars deemed fit. The Blessed Banner can be any shape and size of a traditional flag. You can’t make a blanket big enough to cover a room into a battle standard. (NO HOLY BURRITOS) Traditional is defined as a Pennon, Swallowtail Banner, triangular banner, and so on. The shaft of the pole must be at least 5 feet minimum in height and the material can be any type of wood. Requires an ST signature, and must be given the ‘Significant Magical Item’ tag upon signing. Three templars are required for the creation of a Blessed Banner, one of which must be twice-ordained and T5. The Blessed Banner must be made out of any kind of cloth, and the pole-shaft out of any kind of wood. The Blessed Banner is, even to laymen or mundane individuals, immediately recognizable as a holy relic due to the divine aura that lingers about the object. As a clarification, the Blessed Banner is an item which may be carried and moved freely, unlike the stationary Chanceries of the Paladins. More ‘Custom’ banners may be made via MArt, with custom Augments and a single new Clarion Call of the MArt creator’s choice, both of which would be exclusive to the Banner in question. The Creators may only ever be bound to a single Blessed Banner at a time, the previous Banner needing to be destroyed before a new Banner may be created by the Templars who crafted it. A Blessed Banner may only ever have [2] Augments bound to it, and [1] Clarion Call. Banner Augments Augments are special effects bestowed by the banner to the templar who holds it in their possession. As such the banner must be on their person, whether it be in their hand or mounted upon his back. Since the augments are from the banner itself, should the textile be damaged significantly or the pole-shaft broken, its effects will cease and a new Blessed Banner must be made. Augments require a templar along with the latent connection within the banner in order to be active. Rally Upon unfurling the banner and a particular warcry is called out, the augment known as rally will activate. This augment bestows upon the templar along with their allies within an 8m radius a moderate movement speed buff. This is defined as a +2 block modifier to the default movement speed. (meaning a person can move at most 6 meters upon activation, at the time of writing.) The speed given is defined simply as movement speed, not quicker reflexes or reactions. ‘Allies’ will be defined as individuals not hostile to the Templar or to Malchediael. Indomitable Upon unfurling the banner and a particular warcry is called out, the augment known as Indomitable will activate. This augment bestows upon the templar along with their allies within an 8m radius a capability to stand resolutely. Those affected will find themselves capable of withstanding more physical trauma, being unable to lose their footing except by extreme measures. The Indomitable effect is defined as a means to withstand an attack and hold your ground. Extreme measures such as a troll hitting you, an explosion, orc strength tackles, etc. can and will knock you off your feet. Wroth Upon unfurling the banner and a particular warcry is called out, the augment known as Wroth will activate. This augment bestows upon the templars within the 8m radius an additional charge of their Vigorous blow. Should a templar activate this additional Vigorous blow whilst within the banners radius, upon completion they may sustain the charge outside the radius. Blessed Upon unfurling the banner and a particular warcry is called out, the augment known as Blessed will activate. This augment bestows upon the templars within the 8m radius an additional charge of their Fervent flare. Should a templar activate this additional fervent flare whilst within the banners radius, upon completion they may sustain the charge outside the radius. Valorant Upon unfurling the banner and a particular warcry is called out, the augment known as Valorant will activate. This augment bestows upon the templar’s allies within the 8m radius the Emboldened and Disheartened passive normally enjoyed by the Blessed Templars. Upon leaving the affected radius of the banner, so too will the effect of the Augment no longer affect the ally, leaving them open to fear and other emotional attacks. Clarion Calls Defined as specific prayers of a more potent nature, the Clarion Call harkens to the wartime history of the Templars, allowing them to lead small militias and battalions more efficiently in particular methods of formation combat. These acts of magick are not bestowed lightly by the Aengul, however, and are only able to be used in times of true need by the Templars. Follows all casting guidelines of “Battle-Prayers,” in addition to their own redlines. May not be used outside of event scenarios, due to Malchediael not wishing to bestow such powerful sorceries so lightly. Must be cast by the holder of the Blessed Banner, requiring a twice-ordained Templar in order to utilize whatsoever. A Clarion Call may only be utilized once per event. Only one Clarion Call may be bound to a banner at any one time. Bulwark By taking [3] emotes to channel their Aengul’s blessing and recite a small speech or prayer, a Templar may utilize the Blessed Banner to embolden a Phalanx or Shield Wall formation of allies within an 8m radius around the banner, this effect lasting for [5] emotes. While active, the shields of those in the wall would glow brightly, becoming unable to be moved or thrown aside for the duration of the spell by anything short of an Olog - effectively forming a literal wall of shields. The Templar may dismiss this effect early by taking [1] emote to do so, causing a small wave of force to be expelled in a blast 1m in range in front of every shield in the wall, staggering enemies who get too close as if they had been shield bashed. The individuals affected by the spell must be in either a phalanx or shield wall formation in order for this spell to work, rendered effectively immobile for its duration. The wall effect only protects against physical impacts around the strength/force capable of being produced by an Olog, not serving to nullify more magical or elemental attacks beyond what a shield wall or phalanx normally would. The wave of force expelled is equivalent to a human knight shield bashing the target in the radius. ‘Allies’ will be defined as individuals not hostile to the Templar or to Malchediael. Harry By taking [3] emotes to channel their Aengul’s blessing and recite a small speech or prayer, a Templar may utilize the Blessed Banner to grant additional alacrity to allied archers within 8m of the Banner, this effect lasting for [5] salvos from the group of archers. While active, this prayer would reduce the emote count needed to fire an arrow by [1] emote for Longbows, Crossbows, Ballistae or similar, or [2] emotes for Crank Crossbows, Cannons, or Arbalests. This blessing would end after 5 total shots have been fired by the majority of individuals affected by the blessing - however, they would be rendered immobile while the blessing is active. ‘Allies’ will be defined as individuals not hostile to the Templar or to Malchediael. This effect only reduces the emote count by [1] for bows, ballistae, normal crossbows, or equivalent. This effect only reduces the emote count by [2] for crank crossbows, arbalests, cannons, or equivalent. Individuals under the effect of this blessing are rendered immobile for its duration, though it may be dispelled early by the caster. Only affects individuals wielding bows, crossbows, or similar. Mages do not have their casting time reduced by this spell. Hussar’s Charge By taking [3] emotes to channel their Aengul’s blessing and recite a small speech or prayer while on horseback, a Templar may utilize the Blessed Banner to bless allied horsemen within an 8m radius, this effect lasting for [5] emotes before dissipating. While active, all allied horsemen would be granted the movement benefits of ‘Courageous Cavalier,’ such that they are able to keep pace with the Templar channeling the blessing - and a singular use of the Templar’s ‘Vigorous Blow’ would be applied to the weapons wielded by the allied horsemen. Individuals may still move while this Clarion Call is active. 'Allies’ will be defined as individuals not hostile to the Templar or to Malchediael. The movement speed granted is only equivalent to what the Templar possesses while on horseback, being double that of normal movement. They may keep pace with the Templar, not outrun them entirely. This stacks with ‘Rally.’ The ‘Vigorous Blow’ effect applied is a single use, abiding by all redlines and guidelines of the spell in question. Individuals may still move while under the effect of this Clarion Call. Purpose: The whole point of this entire Big Mike approved lore post is to flesh out and breathe more life into the rather limited and simple design of the Templar orginally written by Bhased. Fitting into the heavily implied nomadic nature of the templar, the Banner system was created to give them their own take on not only a holy item but also a holy site, (Paladin Chanceries) without stealing their yellow thunder. There's also the usage of words which was more for thematic sense which I find to be missing in holy magic at the moment. Overall each spell was given to enhance and keep the flavor of the original magic whilst adding onto it for templar players to experiment more with. Original Chad magic can be found here:

  5. I. The First Article: On Creation -- I believe in Bboon, the Father almighty, creator of heaven, earth and igloos -- I believe that Boon created me, along with all creatures. Bboon gave to me: body and soul, eyes, ears and all the other parts of my body, my mind and all my senses and preserves them as well. Bboon gives me clothing and shoes, food and drink, house and land, spouse and children, fields, animals, and all I own. Every day Bboon abundantly provides everything I need to nourish this body and life. Bboon protects me against all danger, shields and defends me from all evil. Bboon does all this because of pure, fatherly, and divine goodness and mercy, not because I've earned it or deserved it. For all of this, I must thank, praise, serve, and obey Bboon. Yes, this is true! II. The Second Article: On Redemption -- I believe in Leeloon, Bboon’s only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the Bbuns and born of the Virgin Feefoon He suffered under Pontius Austin, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. -- I believe that Leeloon is truly God, born of the Father in eternity and also truly human, born of the Virgin Feefoon. Christ is my Lord! Feefoon redeemed me, a lost and condemned person, bought and won me from all sins, death, and the authority of the Devil. It did not cost him gold or silver, but his holy, precious blood, his innocent body -- his death! Because of this, I am Feefoon’s very own, will live under Feefoon in his kingdom and serve Feefoon righteously, innocently and blessedly forever, just as Feefoon is risen from death, lives and reigns forever. Yes, this is true! III. The Third Article: On Becoming Holy (Sanctification) -- I believe in the Beebun, the holy robes of Bboon, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. -- I believe that I cannot come to my Lord Feefoon by my own intellegence or power. But the Bbun called me by the Gospel, enlightened me with her gifts, made me holy and kept me in the true faith, just as she calls, gathers together, enlightens and makes holy the whole Mekah on earth and keeps it with Bbun in the one, true faith. In this Mekah, she generously forgives each day every sin committed by me and by every believer. On the last day, she will raise me and all the dead from the grave. She will give eternal life to me and to all who believe in Bbun. Yes, this is true! [!] Notes of such religious faith seem to be dropped in various cities across Almaris!

Spouse: None Children: Ciara Campbell (emilyathegreat), Adrian Campbell (Theidlemuse) Extended Family: Eoghan Campbell (Adoptive Chieftain), Scotty O'Keefe (Uncle) Pet(s): n/a History [WIP] BIRTH The birth of Quinlan Campbell is a vague one, his father Byron O'Keefe was no stable man. Not one to keep a family. Old man Byron in his younger days had slept around quite a bit, sired a few bastards. One such bastard he'd been approached with alongside one of his former dalliances. The mother of the newborn child forced the baby into Byron's care, and was never seen again. And so the life of Quinlan began, with a father whom never intended him to exist and a mother whom did not want him. Byron was a wanderer as well and not one to be tied down by the prospect of fatherhood, and so he left his son with his brother, Scotty O'Keefe, in the frigid southern town of Vaerhaven. CHILDHOOD As a child, Quinlan grew up amongst the likes of many other Adunians of various clans. His home was in Campbell hall, a big tower-like structure in the back of town. His oldest memories include that of lectures from the Adunian Archfather Tarus, learning of the old gods and the old faith. Young Quinlan was a quiet creature, a stark contrast to his Uncle and main guardian, Scotty. The tall, booming and often drunk patriarch of the O'Keefe Campbell line berated Quinlan for his softness. A proud O'Keefe is no weasel! He is a bear! Scotty would proclaim. A bear is formidable, he stands headstrong in the face of his foes, a weasel uses deceit and trickery, that is a despicable way of life. And so, Quinlan was taught that all a boy needs to become a man is a strong arm and a brave heart. Quinlan grew up without many friends for the most part, save for Torrah Campbell, son of Eoghan. A girl his age adopted into the clan. By adopted they meant kidnapped as a child from the McHarnishes of course, but there was no reason for Quin to know that. Torrah and Quinlan considered each other like siblings as well as close friends, and the two would get up to all sorts of mischief. RITE OF MANHOOD Clan Campbell was a tad more harsh on it's children than other Adunian clans in the sense that boys at the age of 15 had to prove themselves in order to be considered men. This trial involved trekking out into the cold snowy wilderness outside the walls of Vaerhaven and slaying a wild wolf. This was accomplished through both cunning and strength, and all Campbell boys were expected to accomplish this. Despite the sentiments of his uncle, Quinlan was no killer and no warrior. He certainly wasn't the pinnacle of physical strength. He was sent outside the safe walls of Vaerhaven alone for the first time shortly after his fifteenth birthday. It was a week of surviving on his own before Quinlan found a wolf, a majestic creature of a pure white pelt. The adolescent boy was terrified of the idea of having to face it. He ended up trapped the beast after laying down a pit trap with smoke from burning hare's flesh at the bottom. When he returned to Vaerhaven's walls, he convinced Scotty the wolf had died by his blade. YOUNG ADULTHOOD AND LOVE Quinlan spent his next few years in relative anonymity. Though one thing had really changed, his old friend and someone he had considered his sister had grown into a very attractive young woman. Torrah and Quinlan were both eighteen now, they celebrated the birthday of the former quietly, in Vaerhaven's cozy tavern with a pint of ale. It was there Quinlan asked her if she would do him the favour of accompanying him on a date. It was a foreign yet familiar concept, the two had been spending time alone with each other for years, but neither was too naive to realize this would be a different experience entirely. The first date was a simple affair, young Quinlan had no concept of glamour and had no concept of 'dinner and a play'. Instead he took her out to one of his favourite places, a simple stone menhir with a table, by a frozen lake outside of town. They shared a drab of whiskey and stared at the clouds, she kissed him. Though elated by his new found love, not all was well for Quinlan. News of the budding couple had reached the jealous ear of a resident member of another of Vaerhaven's Adunian clans, Cymrych Douglas. A love triangle was inevitable and the race to impress Torrah began. Cymrych was ingeniously subtle, often getting himself injured to play the pity card for Torrah. Quin knew nothing of subtly, he had been brought up by the man who could barely tell the difference between a 'P' and a 'q' in a book. The fact that Cymrych was a twin made it doubly furious. The Douglas twins gave Quin no end of grief, but it did not matter in the end, for Torrah was faithful to him. Loss, Recovery, and Loss Again Life with Torrah was content and peaceful for Quinlan. Two adjectives that would rarely describe his life in the years to come. At around the age of 18, Quin began to feel the looming presence of the Scourge, and setherien's menace. He had lived in the newly Renovated Keep of Ard Kerrack at the time with the rest of his Adunian kin. Adunia itself was in it's prime, having occupied the last previously owned by Kaedrin of House Chivay. However all was not well in the land of the tartan, as the aforementioned scourge had begun launching minor skirmishes and harassing strikes upon the kingdom. Fully grown and Able-bodied, Quinlan was expected to take up arms to fight off these raids. With Torrah fighting at his side, they came to blows with pale faced cultists and abominations with steel welded to their flesh. However as all of Adunia was soon to learn, these guerrilla strikes were merely the beginning. It all accumulated to one big conflict, the battle of Ildon. With the forces of Adunia ready to defend their home against a horde of cultists, unholy creatures and winged beasts. For Quinlan, it was his first experience of true battle. As swords clashed, and the sounds of courageous war cries and screams of agonizing pain screeched through the atmosphere, Torrah was snatched up by a daemon of eldritch wings, carried off. The war for Adunia had been won, but Quinlan had lost the biggest part of his life. His love. He spent the next full year looking tirelessly for her, as Adunians throughout the kingdom looked on with pity, wondering when the heartbroken young man would move on. It turned out however that he would not have to, at a steep price... Torrah Campbell returned. But not as the same person she was when the agents of Setherien snatched her away. Found huddled in the corner of an inn 2 years after her disappearance, she was a sorry sight. One missing hand, scars that marred her entire body in a grotesque mess, her hair falling out at it's foundations. Still young and naive and unable to heal or do anything to help, Quinlan and Torrah eloped from Adunia, settling in the remote elven town of Lenniel, far to the west. Torrah's mental state had deteriorated rapidly, and was showing signs of insanity. To Quinlan's dismay, it seemed that Torrah had been influenced with scourge like tendencies during her time in their captivity. As she became slowly more and more sinister. Setting elven trees alight, asking Quin to hire assassins to perform hits for her as if it were a casual requests, among others. The simple minded young man was no psychologist and no amount of pleading and coercion was able to revert the now scarred and grotesque Torrah from the dark shell of her former self she had become. And one day, she simply vanished. A New Beggining Following Torrah's final dissapearance, Quin was left with no more purpose in life. He spent a few more years in Lenniel, making his living as a hunter and developing a good reputation among the wood elves whom lived there. However, life had lost most of it's colour. It was age the age of 25 when the wanderlust set back in and Quin packed up his things, leaving his home to travel the roads once more, this time, to the land his people hated: Oren. The journey to the eastern plains of Anthos was fairly peaceful, Quin managed to reach the grand walls of New Abresi in quick time. The bustling streets, town criers and the city smell were foreign to him, having grown up as a country boy. It was there he met a man in a white tabard adorning a red cross, whom introduce himself as Theodoric Hamlen. Theodoric informed Quin that he was a member of the Holy Order of Saint Lucien. A knightly order devoted to defending the true faith of the human race. With no other real options open to him, Quin decided, on a whim, to join. The keep of Ard Krallach was a massive structure built into the side of a mountain under what was once the Grand Palace of Emperor Godfrey. And the Lucienist soldiers whom made their home in it were equally impressive. It was on his first day Quin met the stalwart but friendly Raigeki Kato, an eastern man and officer of the Holy Order. Raigeki got Quin acquainted with the people and the sights of Ard Krallach, as well as providing him with his own white and red tabard. Early life as a Lucienist was rigourous, but rewarding. Quin quickly made friends out of his Brothers in the order, and learned to be strong, good with a sword, and quick on his feet. But it wasn't with the order where his life truly took it's next dramatic turn. On an off day in the Captured Kha inn in Abresi, Quin sat. He often enjoyed the company of friends on days like these, but today was alone. Through the door came a woman, a pretty thing of dark red hair and emerald eyes, accompanied with her cousin, a raven haired woman of formidable height. Both were attractive, but it was the red haired lass, whom would later introduce herself as Ayallia Meridian, that Quin had his eyes on. After a rather embarrassing attempt to get in bed with her following giving them a tour of the city with the help of a Subudai tribesman, Quin parted ways with the lovely lass feeling rather turned down. However he didn't let it deter him from his goal. Torrah was gone forever. He was in a new country, with new friends and new family, it was time to find new love. After a few semi-successful attempts to get closer to Aya by spending time in her tailory shop, Quin successfully asked her out on a date. It was quite a date. Nearly a days worth of walking back to Vaerhaven, but it was worth the journey. Quin gifted Aya with the wolf pelt he'd won to earn his rite of manhood so long ago. They watched the stars from atop the masts of dwarven ships, and shared their first kiss. War and Married Life Fast forward to three years later, and Quinlan and Aya would be happily married and living a secure life together. Aya lived with her family, the Meridians, in a complex in Abresi. Quin stayed often though work often took him to the keep of Ard Krallach where he would serve among the Lucienists. The two did not spend as much time together as perhaps a normal couple should, but they cherished the moments they had. The idyllic lifestyle would not last, however. As trouble soon began to brew within Oren. -more to come- Artwork
  10. Valtors of The Old Faith "If my bones are to shatter and my armor to crack, Thalia let my spirit remain intact. And in these times full of shadows, let us dream the dawn." The Valtorians or Valtors for sort, is a group of holy warriors of the Old Faith that was created by Nestor Tarus at the 14th of The Amber Cold, 1450. Their goals is to seek the truth behind the visions that the gods provide and to combat the evil creatures that dwell into Anthos. Their ultimate purpose, despite being unknown to most Valtors, is to protect the Erythian Stars. Deeply religious and strong the Valtors are still few in numbers. Some of the Valtorian recruits choose to follow the path of Thronn and learn the secrets of heartfire. Yet the majority of the Valtors chooses to adopt the arts of war and they are trained in the use of sword, shield and spear. Chief Values and Morals of the Valtors Honesty. - None should lie without just cause- to prevent a wrong or to save someone. Tolerance. - "He who speaks my tongue is my equal". We were all created by the same God. Loyalty. - Remember exactly who you're loyal to. Words are less valuable than blood. Hard work. - Conviction, conviction, conviction. Freedom. - To be held in highest esteem, none can bound a man, none can chain him down. Endurance. - Both mental and physical. When the time comes our strength will be tested. Hope. - For the journey will be long, and we all must keep walking. The Goddess Thalia A lesser god under Morighaen. The visions are believed to be derived by her and her initial worship began from Nestor. Despite her contribution to knowledge, she does not assist the Valtors in other ways but many Valtorians choose her as the patron god instead of one of the three, regardless. Known Rituals The Bonding of Silverline "The men stood still and inhaled deeply. They blinked once and their eyes were normal. They blinked twice and their eyes stood still and pale. They blinked thrice and it was like nothing happened at all. And yet they had been enlightened." Most are unaware of the origins of the visions. If they are granted to the one who sleeps, or the one who after deep meditation has connected to the gods. Yet when the vision is seen, proper words are usually found insufficient to describe the message. This ritual provides the Valtors the ability to share what they saw with no omittance. It only requires the leaves of Silverline and the smoke that it generates when set ablaze. Ritual of the Shieldbond In a pitch black room, a candle burns in the center of the shadows, the only source of light. Two prospective-shield brothers step towards one another with their shields on their left arms. In the center of them burns the candle. The two circle the candle, staring at one another, smashing their palms into the shield in a rhythm unique to them. This persists for three minutes, after which, both most stop circling, take a knife, and cut the others free hand. They utter the words, "Before the sight of Thronn, and his inumerable faces, I swear to put guard my shieldbrother/sister's life with these hands. With this blood, I tie ourselves as one, unified in purpose and movement. With this shield, I raise it to defend our conjoined life, and the way of the Three." They grasp each other by the blood hand and hold it firmly over the candle. They hold their hands over the flame until one of them cannot stand the heat and retracts, after which, they exit. Ranks of the Valtorians There are no ranks within the Valtorians, aside from the ArchValtor, due to the small numbers of men, within the order. Recruiting Lore
