  1. [!] A rough depiction of the corpse of a man not many have cared to notice. The day was fresh and new. A man trudged along the northern forests smelling of fish and doo, holding nothing but his old, original, fishing pole and a twisted leaf filled with green. There was a strange feeling in his stomach. Something wasn’t right. . . He was hungry! It was another day, another krawn for the young fisherman apprentice. He was fourteen, alone, homeless, and stunk of fish guts. As the highborn children played games and gossiped in the old tavern, the alienated teen slammed his heavy net of fish of all sorts onto the table. As time went on, and the apprentice rid the fish of their entrails in public view, all of the children left. All except one. All except her. Fish. Reliable, high in protein, and sustainable. When living alone in his youth, nobody ever gave him a second glance. No one ever offered him water to drink, or fish to eat. Eventually, he even resorted to thievery. He stole not food, but a simple stick with a string and hook attached to it. It was not enough to feed a town, but plenty for the starving child. “Those were the days”, relented the now sixty year old man. This day marked the 50th year he was alone. Perhaps he didn’t need a companion, perhaps he only needed fish and orcish kief. A long journey lay ahead of the now experienced fisherman, now turned salesman. It was a new city, new opportunities, and a new image. He called it ‘The Dream’. His debut came on the day of debutantes. Royals and peasants alike loved his recipe of fish. However, the prospect of free cod roused suspicion, and apparently, enough suspicion to have him removed from the palace premices. They all sneered, whispered, and gossiped about the outcast. All except one. All except her. Fire popped and embers rose from the pit. For some odd reason, it was warmer in the north. How strange. . . Has spring come early? It didn’t matter. All that mattered to him now was that the war that plagued the once cold land had come to a bloodless conclusion. With that messy ordeal done and the war over, he could rest easily knowing that his friend was safe. That she was safe. “Politics? You want me to get into politics?” The royal fisherman looked up towards the Duchess of Valwyck in confusion. He was not an educated man, let alone a smart one. His short time spent in libraries was used to sell snacks for the younger scholars. Perhaps he was meant to be more than just some fisherman. Perhaps he was finally going to escape his endless pit of loneliness. No longer would he have to sit alone for hours on end at the side of a bridge. When the day came, the man nearing thirty collected the most votes. It was astonishing. How could a random fisherman dominate an election with many educated individuals running against him? Who knew? Who cared? “It’s probably nothing”, the fisher thought. After all, business was poor and his pockets even poorer. In the end no one truly cared about him. No one ever talked or conversed with him, or others like him for that matter. No one did. All except one. All except her. Cactus Green. It was the orcish variety. The normal stuff was tame, too tame. The elder needed something to take the edge off from the stresses of the world. It was a poor addiction his old friends, now long dead or forgotten, warned him of. Regardless, he was still an avid user of the herb. It was exhausting his retirement funds, exhausting his health, but he still yearned for more. It became a dangerous obsession, but he was obsessed with many things. The green. . . fish. . . h- Suddenly, his head snapped as he noticed loud noises in the distant hill south of his position. Curious. . . What was going on today? The Peoples Duma. A failing institution settling into a new world. Somehow, and in some way, a fisherman not only landed himself into politics, but found himself leading it. The Grand Alderman was once a homeless fisher boy from Karosgrad. Despite the honors of holding such an office for over a decade, he despised it. It caused him much stress to a worrying degree. His personal habits became worse and even impacted his performance. At one point, he found himself running the fastest general election in the Kingdom’s history, with candidates being chosen, votes being cast, and results being announced all within the span of an hour. It didn’t help that there was a session to be held afterwards. It was too much for him. By the grace of it all, his worries would soon be resolved as the true leaders, the likes of Lord Speaker Otto Ludovar, took control of the situation. It was a resounding sigh of relief for him and the kingdom. Who could blame him? He was, afterall, just an ordinary man. Not even educated informally let alone to the highest degree. The man spent more time in the royal kitchens and developing menus than he did writing bills that would impact the lives of the population. It was a calm and relatively normal life. The man could not handle that sort of stress all at once. He’d rarely ever seen that kind of resolve in anyone. All except one. All except her. The screams resounded and the madman dashed as fast as he could! Armed with nothing but a sword, a fishing rod, and cactus green, the fisherman chose to hold the pole in one hand and green in the other. He was clearly mad, he knew he was risking his life, but he ran towards danger regardless. And then, he saw. . . Retirement. It was the only way he could ever escape into a life he wanted to live. The life of foraging and living off of nature’s grace. There were successors lined in his place, as now he was an old man. A young Marian Blackwood, now Weiss, continued politics. The Boy Baron Henrik Amador took his seat in the unified Duma. Finally, his days of public service were over. In what he thought would be his final act of any importance, the unknown man raised a boy from homelessness after a daring fishing trip, and transformed the lad into a fine chef in his own right. This was it. This was his lasting legacy. He would abandon it all for a life of calm and tranquil simplicity. All of it. Well. . . All except one. All except her. -A mass of poor and desperate bandits fought atop the hills of Waltonburg. The Triumphant King himself rallied a tired band of warriors in the hopes to drive the men off, and rescue his Queen. The fisherman was furious. After peace arrived to all of humanity, she was still a target. Still in danger. . . Shouting on the edge of the hill, the common man under influence screamed towards the mighty King at top of his lungs “WHAT THE F-” This wasn’t the expected outcome. A victory? In a duel against the leader of warriors? He was an old and retired fisherman. The Veletzian townsfolk and warriors looked at the man in awe, as he helped up the defeated Marshal Hendrik Van Aert. By the sheer grace of either luck or newfound skill, an unimportant fisherman single-handedly rescued the beloved People’s Queen. He did it, not for reward, or for whispered rumors of affection, but because his closest friend was in danger of death. There was nothing beating him that day. He would kill a thousand Marshals if he had to. No one could have stopped him. All except one. All except her. -UCK IS GOING ON?! ONE JOB!” The audacity. . . And to a King no less? Well, no one really taught him courtly manners, and the man was so far gone from society he doubted if he would ever be let back at all after a comment like that. He didn’t care, nor plan on it. His victory in politics. . . his triumph against the enemy Marshal. . . his very survival to sixty years of age. . . all of it was just luck. For his entire life he relied only on luck and lived on it. In that desperate battle for life, the man somehow impacted lives, inspired bards and poets. . . he even made a few friends along the way. None were closer to him than her. He would soon find himself close to her one, final, time as a bandit sought to slay the Queen in his dying breath. There were no sounds of glory. . . No screams or warnings. . . There he stood, a man who either had nothing to lose or nothing at all, as he lept towards his world. In the end, as he tumbled down the hill with a sword in his lung, alongside his wounded friend, he died as he lived. . . Homeless Filthy Unknown Unimportant And- [!] A note would be found bloodied next to the dead fisherman’s wound. By sheer luck, it seemed the letter’s envelope was only bloodied, but not the parchment itself. When opened, it read simply: “Ami, In my lifetime of knowing you, I realized that you were always the one saying thank you to me, and not the other way around. Today I return from my fishing trip, and I hope this letter finds you well. Thank you, for everything. Know that if I had to do it all again without a single word of gratitude, that I would work just as hard. It was never for me, or for the Kingdom. It was just you. It was always only for you. Your far, yet close friend, Timmy” For her. -=-=-=- REST IN PEACE TO A LOYAL FISHERMAN KNOWN AS TIMOFEI “TIMMY, THE KING WHO STAYED AND EMPEROR OF FISH” PETROVICH
  2. THE EMBER PROTOCOL 2 MENSIS OVENITIUS 1930 By the grace of GOD and his Three Prophets, we who have willed our covenant’s survival through the Great Expulsion shall duly endeavor to again act as the bulwark of Humanity. To those of pious virtue we compel thee - blow upon our embers and watch as the pyre swells. DEUS VULT, Grand Inquisitor Stefan de Burnett OOC: Friday. August 4. 2023.
  3. Musik dlum ve Koeng With great sorrow and darkness that the people of Hanseti-Ruska received the notice of their King and leader, Georg I, passing onto the Seven Skies. With such, the composer and musician Hamish Kortrevich took it upon himself to compose a funeral march that would honour the memory of the late monarch. May the King rest in peace in the arms of Godan.
  4. Year 105 of the second age. ᛋᛁᚷᚱᚢᚾ ᛏᚺᛖ ᛚᚨᛞ Sigrun’s campaign ᛏᚺᛖ ᛞᚹᚨᚱᚠ ᛟᚠ ᛒᛟᛏᚺ ᚹᛟᚱᛚᛞᛋ Foreword. This pamphlet is written to tell you all of my ideas and my personal qualities as to why I believe I would be the best pick for the next Grand King. First off a few of the situations myself and other dwed want to see fixed. It will be be split up in a few categories, as follows: Problems. 1: Citizen Engagement & Things to do. 2: Military 3: Reviewing Acts of the Senate. 4: Amendments of the articles. 5: Stagnation of Trade. Ideas. 1: Urguan Leadership’s reshuffle. 2: Allies. 3: Clan Encouragement. 4: Hefrumm Qualities. 1: Positive Qualities. 2: Previous Positions. Closing word. Problems. Citizen Engagement & Things to do. Urguan has recently developed a problem with keeping our loyal citizens engaged in the affairs of our city. With the Legion getting disbanded, there are not many things for our dwed to do in Kal’Darakaan. I plan to reinstate a military force in Urguan which will be detailed further in this pamphlet. Urguan has a select few guilds to be a part of in Kal’Darkaan, but not many jobs apart from being tavernkeep. Military will be one more but I also plan to have dwed be able to take up more varied jobs within our Kingdom. I plan to use Urguan’s famed deeproads for more job opportunities to those who wish to have a smithery, bakery etcetera down there. But any extravagant things will be presented to the King’s Council and Senate. Military. As of my retirement from Grand Marshal, the King’s Council at the time had disbanded the Legion in favour of a King’s Guard which would take up the mantle of keeping peace in the city and preventing crime. I believe the Legion should be reinstated with a new Grand Marshal at its head. With the current situation in the world, with the falling star and worm killing cloudbreaker we need a competent legion to handle the situation. I would appoint the Marshal myself, but would open up the floor for various people that believe they have the experience and qualities needed to take up the task of restarting the Legion. I would help them in any way I can myself. Urguan's military shall be re-vitalised and shall take it's toll on the Ibless-Uruk war machine and it's allies the necromancers and their great worm. The Great Stronghold that is Urguan will hold firm against these foul Beasts and shall act like a beacon of defense for any that may reside within. Urguan shall not be bested by a tree, nor Orcs and certainly not the foul undead. Reviewing Senate Acts. Leading up to Bakir’s retirement from Grand King, I had asked various dwed about problems they see in Urguan. One that was brought up multiple times is that the dwed wish to review and reevaluate some previously passed bills in the senate. I would like to call up any dwed to present bills they have problems with, so we can review them as a people. Amendments of the Articles. The Articles of Urguan have been outdated for a while now, i believe the King's Council and senate should take a great long look at the articles and write amendments to them wherever there needs to be updating. Stagnation of Trade. Trade has recently stagnated in Urguan, which is a great shame as dwarven goods are known and respected around all of Almaris. I would encourage trade by offering to pay the first two weeks of tax on stalls and carts any Urguani dwed may hold in different nations. Festivals of Trade and other events where dwarves would be able to sell and spread dwarven goods to various people from various nations. The workforce shall play a big part in creating these dwarven goods, and together with the government they shall spread it around the world. Ideas. Urguan’s leadership reshuffle. Urguan has long had the same positions make up its King’s council. Whilst many of these positions are vital to running Urguan, I have a select few that have recently been proven to be not necessary for Urguan, and one that I believe should be considered for the King’s council. Here is my list of positions I would have in my King’s Council. Grand King. The grand king needs no introduction for the King’s Council. He is the agreed upon representative of the people of Urguan. Grand Chancellor. The Grand Chancellor has recently become a vital part of Urguan’s leadership with the introduction of the Senate. The Grand Chancellor is the one that represents the Senate’s views and should be the direct representative of the Senate towards the King. Grand Marshal. The Grand Marshal is the head of the Military in Urguan, they are the Military’s direct representative to the King. Dealing with defending the Kingdom and notifying the King’s council of any threats to Urguan’s sovereignty. Chief of Hefrumm. As with the meteoric rise of Hefrumm during Bakir’s reign as Grand King, it makes sense that there should be a position to represent Hefrumm in the King’s Council. With Garedyn The Green at the helm, they have proven themselves to be a wonderful people that form the bulk of Urguan’s activity. Their importance in the current Grand Kingdom of Urguan cannot be understated. Grand Steward. The Grand Steward is the representative of Urguan’s economy including stewardry, housing and banking and would represent all problems regarding such. High Prophet. The High Prophet is the one representing all religious matters in the King’s council, as they deal with the council of prophets of the Kirkja Dverga. Lord Justiciar. The Lord Justiciar deals with all legal matters in the Grand Kingdom of Urguan, and should be the representative to all legal matters and justice throughout the nation. Scrapped position. King’s hand. The King’s hand position has long overstayed its welcome in the King’s Council, as it has its duties changed multiple times and never once has worked out. No longer shall upper leadership work in secrecy, and it shall truly have Urguan's people best interests at heart. Allies Haense. The Haeseni government and people have proven to be an incredible ally for the Grand Kingdom of Urguan, and we should do everything in our power to keep them as an ally. Balian. As with the recent dissolution of Oren after our victory against them, the people of Balian have proven to be a faithful ally to the Grand Kingdom of Urguan. Petra. The people of Petra have clearly grounded themselves between the nations of Almaris. They are a proud people and an even fiercer ally in combat. All of these allies have proven to be incredibly important to the Grand Kingdom of Urguan, and all measures should be taken to ensure our future cooperation with these nations. Clan Encouragement. The clans of Urguan are the ultimate backbone to the future of Urguan, and I believe the government should do everything to ensure the prosperity of these clans non-directly. Each clan should have a clan leader that isn’t afraid to ask the King’s Council for any help regarding problems they may have, and I will ensure no expense shall be spared to ensure this. Hefrumm. As seen during Bakir's reign, Hefrumm has experienced a meteoric rise with Garedyn The Green as it's spearhead. As they form the bulk of Urguan's people i believe they are long overdue for more granted autonomy and appreciation from the government of the Grand Kingdom of Urguan. Their importance to the Grand Kingdom cannot be understated. They are the lifeblood that fills our valley and city's halls. Hefrumm should be granted full autonomy over their valley. The King's council with the Chief of Hefrumm as one of it's positions will draft up a renewal of the articles to favour the renewed and reinvigorated Hefrumm people. Qualities. Positive Qualities. I, Sigrun Ireheart, am a dwed that carries all the passion and fire that our previous king had, but I assure the Urguani people that I will be a comprising king, and will strive to represent the dwarves of Urguan in the best way possible. I promise that I will carry all of the energy in Urguan on my back and would make sure every dwarf with a problem would be represented dutifully. Urguan is in a tough spot as of this moment, but with all of our heads stuck together we will come up with a solution to any problem our proud people face. Previous Positions. Grand Marshal. I have served as Urguan’s Grand Marshal for over two decades and have done everything in my power to ensure victory with the minimal loss of dwed life. The energy and vigour I had as Grand Marshal would be transferred over to my reign as Grand King. Clan Father of the Irehearts. As Clan Father of the Irehearts, I have ensured our clan’s position in Urguan as a famed elder clan, as I plan to do the same with Urguan on the global stage. Priest of Dungrimm. As Priest of Dungrimm, I have ensured the word of Dungrimm’s spread in the Kirkja Dverga, and have even constructed a statue in his honour. Closing Words. I thank every dwarf in Urguan for taking the time to read this pamphlet. I truly believe I have the qualities and ability to take Urguan into the next age bountifully. I ensure that every dwarf would be represented dutifully in the King’s council and Senate. We shall all make sure that Urguan becomes the stronghold and activity centre it previously has been. I hope you have the faith in me to vote Sigrun Ireheart as next Grand King of Urguan. [!] A picture has been affixed to the bottom of the pamphlet.
  5. 14th of The Amber Cold, 70 SA While the three branches of Rurikid have rarely seen eye to eye on any matter, every branch can attest that the moot is a time honored tradition. It is not intended to be used as a ploy by cravens who cannot face their relations face to face, who cannot bear the consequences that come with calling all of age Rurikid men into one gathering place. Twice in recent history has the moot been called and twice has it been made a joke of, first by the last king of Norland, Vane Freysson, and now by Ragnvald Ash, formerly of Eiriksson. Every generation grows further distanced from a true understanding of what makes a Ruric a Ruric. We are all descendents of the Prophet. We are all prisoners to the burden of our lineage, the burden of legacy and honor. Lest we forget the Red Scrolls, as the tenets tell us: Do what is right, be it hard or easy going. With this said, let it be known that I, Manfred von Arichsdorf, chieftain of clan Edvardsson, declare my full support to King Vangel Freysson. Manfred von Arichsdorf, Chieftain of clan Edvardsson Leitsieg Thoromir von Arichsdorf, son of Manfred Theodric Edvardsson, Son of Alric Caedric Edvardsson, Son of Alric
  6. THE GRAND KINGDOM OF URGUAN ELECTION With the recent announcement of Grand King Norli Starbreaker’s descension from the throne, the Council of Urguan acted quickly to begin the election process. Only a stone day ago, the Council passed a new Voting Reforms Act, declared Lord Chancellor Azkel Frostbeard Regent, and nominated 3 dwed to campaign for the title of Grand King: Alaric Grimgold, Dorimnur Goldhand, & Levian’Tol Grandaxe. With the nominations complete and Urguan’s Folk ready to choose their new Grand King, I, Lord Regent Azkel Frostbeard, hereby declare the start of the Election. This election shall run from today, the 1st of The First Seed, 27 SA, to a Stone Week from now. SECTION I: THE NOMINEES For those unaware of how the election process works, to run for Grand King, one must be nominated by a Council-recognized Clan of Urguan. Listed below are the Clans, and their respective nominations (note, that a nomination does not mean the clan shall vote entirely for the individual): Clan Starbreaker: Levian’Tol Grandaxe Clan Irongut: Abstained Clan Frostbeard: Abstained Clan Irongrinder: Abstained Clan Ireheart: Abstained Clan Doomforged: Levian’Tol Grandaxe Clan Grimgold: Alaric Grimgold Clan Grandaxe: Levian’Tol Grandaxe Clan Goldhand: Dorimnur Goldhand Clans of Hefrumm: Levian’Tol Grandaxe With said nominations complete, the nominees have gotten to work on their campaigning, outlining their platform for the Dwarven people to understand what said individuals may achieve as Grand King. Below are 5 points outlining the nominee’s campaign promises: Alaric Grimgold: As King, I would further the infrastructure pushed by my Clan and those of our allies. More public farms for use, more railways to facilitate our travel, and a working ferry system at our southern port. As King, I would seek to strengthen the defenses of Urguan by providing a fort and rapid route to get there in each demarcation of land we own. Additionally, a council of our most respected war veterans would be assembled to aid the Grand Marshal. As King, I would not bring Urguan into any defensive alliances until we are able to stand upon our own two feet again. We have a network of vassals to call upon, but we can do more to strengthen our own nation and their settlements. As King, I would treat the entire nation as if they were my family, removing my Mask upon all sovereign grounds touched by the Grey and Orange of our banner. No clan would be seen as above the other, and any would be able to openly bring forward concerns or suggestions of the path of the kingdom. As King, I intend to make no promises I cannot keep and serve with the honor I have been known for in my century of service to our glorious nation. Our nation is only as strong as the hard working Dwarves who it is composed of, but such a nation deserves a King who will maintain its honor. Dorimnur Goldhand: As King, I would transform my success in creating the realm’s largest worker’s force to the Grand Kingdom as a whole. As King, I would revitalize Dwarven craftsdwedship to new heights, bringing back our cultural crafts which have rivaled the other races for centuries. Lost arts which we had used to take pride in creating will be restored, and in such, will bring about a new cultural age for the Dwed. As King, I would strengthen the connection between Guilds and the Council of Urguan. Guilds are the backbone of our people, and are just as representative of Urguan’s Folk as the clans themselves. As King, I will prioritize expanding our internal infrastructure, including the expansion of our mines, railways, city utilities, vassal holds, & guild capabilities. As King, and as a nominee, I will not make any promises I cannot keep. Kings of the past have failed to live up to campaign promises, and even things proclaimed during their reign. Under my rule, my word will be upheld, and my promises shall be as well, as seen in my past half-century of servitude for the Kingdom. Levian’Tol Grandaxe: As King, I will ensure the Book of Grudges is held to the highest standard, and its grudges properly marked out for Dwed to see for centuries. As King, I will expand on Norli’s vassalage work, a task which I assisted in during my time as Grand Steward. Vassals deserve to have a voice in our government, and I shall create a system which gives them such. As King, I will ensure that the new generations of younger dwed have their voices heard in the Kingdom’s government. As King, I will not keep secrets from the Council or Urguan’s Folk. I will rule with transparency to best ensure that my actions speak for Urguan as a whole. As King, I will expand our diplomacy to smaller settlements and nations, rather than attempting larger alliances with their larger counterparts. Assisting these groups is essential in developing a long-lasting peace, and through our partnership, we can help others thrive. SECTION II: VOTING The voting process is one that aims to be used primarily by the active members of Urguan’s Folk. With the passing of the Voting Reforms Act, all outlined requirements on the document shall be used in this election as well. To see such requirements, said Act has been attached: https://www.lordofthecraft.net/forums/topic/202462-the-voting-reform-act/ Voting shall last for a Stone Week, and who one votes for shall be kept private. Narvok oz Urguan, Narvok oz da Grand King. ((OOC REQUIREMENTS)) You may only vote on one persona, aka one vote per ooc person. The election shall last from today, June 4th, until June 11th. A vote may be changed up until the end of the election. The votes shall be counted by myself and the nominees, and will be approved by a council vote once finished. The king’s coronation shall be scheduled once the voting is complete. The voting rules on the Voting Rights Act shall be the official voting rules of the election irp. All votes will be approved or thrown out based on that, or an ooc requirement. The winning candidate will be based on a simple majority. If you cannot or do not wish to vote on the forums, msg me on discord at TreatyCole#3623 If using the Guild activity requirement, list which guild. If you are unsure if you are on your clan list, ask your Clan Lord, or myself. If you have no idea what the activity requirement is, check the Voting Reforms Act page, linked above. You only need 1 of the 4 options. Voting Format IGN: RP NAME: AGE: ACTIVITY REQUIREMENT: (Legion, Guild, Home Owner, Clan List) CANDIDATE: Lord Regent of Urguan, Lord Chancellor of Urguan, Elder of Clan Frostbeard, Master of the Order of Remembrance
