  1. Blood Blossom While Blood Blossoms come in many shapes, and forms, the most common variation of the parasitic plant is the one that mirrors a similar appearance to that of a red rose, yet this darker rosa comes with a shine to the petals that made them seem all the more luscious while they are in full bloom, and all the more unnerving when they have shrivelled up and turned a black deeper than coal. History Blood Blossoms, in the language of flowers are known under the words of ‘Conquest, Death, and kinship’. A flower that has in some cultures been used to decorate soldiers before they go into battle by their lovers with the belief that they will herald victory for their loved ones. Similarly should the soldiers have found themselves falling to the battlefield, the flowers that they had added to their armour are delivered back to their loved ones after having shrivelled up and turned black, a sign of mourning and death. High society, caring not for the views of the peasant folk about the rather rare flower add it to their garbs, usually worn by ladies with red lipstick to tempt suitors to their side. Knights, and nobles have even shed blood to aid a flower to bloom to hold a promise of kinship and bind their oaths. Overall the flowers over the ages have been seen as a symbol of many different virtues, and views. Yet as the flowers tend to grow most frequently in lands where blood is commonly shed, there has always been a woe, and unnerving light bound to the flowers. Yet in many tales the flowers have been used to give a sense of romance to the stories bards sing and perform. Appearance The seeds of Blood Blossoms are black, knotted sphere’s that have an appearance that almost mirrors the shape of eyes in the decorations of the seed's form. The seeds themselves will survive for a full week without being nourished before they crack open, a sicky black puss flowing from the seed as it perishes. Should they be nourished however the seed will begin to grow a black stem, growing thorns and barbs sharp enough to shred flesh while black, and withered looking petals begin to grow at the stem. Once the flower has reached full bloom those once black, and withered petals will gain a gorgeous lustre and shine mirroring the blood that it has fed on to grow to its full size. As long as the plant is able to feed on blood it will continue to remain its beautiful, and enticing appearance. Lurring animals and men alike towards it to be cut by the thorns and feed it more crimson ichor. However once the feed is no longer able to be found the flower will perish, the petals turning cracked, and black as coal. Almost looking like the flower had been burned. The plant remains rooted where it had perished until it was removed or destroyed even after death. Abilities and Usage The Blood Blossoms, unlike normal plants, survive entirely upon blood. There are many different variations of the blossoms with their own mutations, though the alchemical properties only shift slightly depending on the flora that was given. But all blood blossoms have the signs listed below: A blood blossom grown from the blood of a troll, or race with regenerative properties is possible to gain the sign of healing, and mending natures upon them. These tend to be the most desired petals not only for the sign, but due to the fact that the petals themselves glisten with a beautiful, enticing shine upon their petals. The most alluring of all their variations. If the flower grows from a long dead corpse, or old and rotten blood will spread the sign of death within the petals of the flower themselves. The petals from these blooms tend to have veins of black moving through the petals that are unpleasant, and give an idea on what signs are imbedded into them. Finally there is the parasite variation. The most common variation to discover as they latch themselves upon the living and grow upon them. Their roots burrowing under skin and attaching themselves to vines to feed upon the blood of their ‘host’. These blooms will continue to spread over their host until the host perishes. All variations of this blood bloom gain the poisonous sign. Turning them a deathly pale. And creating ‘clots’ of blackened blood veins. Red Lines OOC
  2. A creature that gathers around the shores where large bodied creatures find their home in large writhing swarms. Dangerous for all creatures that fall into the ocean as their ravenous hunger will have them biting down and feeding eagerly upon their flesh until every inch of them has been consumed, all the way down to their bones. About the size of a palm in size, a single swarm of these creatures could go from anywhere to twenty to fifty in number. History First discovered in the deep waters, believed to be nothing more than a beautiful, but haunting mirage within the waves these creatures, along with creatures such as whales are the main course for the haunting ripples of colour and crimson waters that flow against the beach and stain it the dark vicious shade for a short time. This usually being a big sign that they are in the surrounding area, a warning for those that know better. While the truth wasn’t always known those that did discover the bloodied beaches were much more cautious of the sea, though the tales of it being haunted by the spirit of all those that had fallen to the ocean began to spread among sailors and their passengers has been a myth that has remained whispered from one person to another for centuries. And likely will always remain a suspected truth even with the discovery of these creatures. As for the true discovery itself. They were found by accident by the victims that had swam in the waters fearlessly, only to be caught by these deadly fish and consumed while their friends and comrades could do nothing but watch with how quickly they were brought into the waters. Leaving only bones and blood to wash up upon the shores. The sheer need of the piranha almost seems to be beyond the limit that their own small body creates. As if pushed on by something supernatural. Perhaps that is another reason why the belief of the shores being haunted by the souls of the lost will never lose traction. Physical Appearance Individually each bloodied piranha has blue scales that allow them to blend in with the water, with crimson spires of bone with a razor sharp edge growing from the back of their spine and a maw filled with sharp teeth with the same crimson tinged shade. Only the smaller, children of their kind have a pure white set of spikes and teeth for they have yet to bloody them within the feast. Similarly the tail and fines of the fish start off as a faint pale blue colour, but as they age they begin to gain a red stain to their fins. However these fish never travel alone, they travel in swarms. From the smallest number of ten, to the highest number of fifty and above. Creating a mirage of colour under the waves that is oddly enchanting, and beautiful, a ripple of blue that has a glaze of red mixed into it as they swim under the surface. A beautiful image that hides the sheer lethality that it holds, like much of the deadly creatures of the world. Mental Characteristics Frenized. That is the base, and core mind set of this fish from the beginning to the end. They do not sleep, they do not stop swimming through the ocean ,and should they come across anything that isn’t one of their kind, they will bite, gnaw, and shred it alive in a freezing frenzy until not a single bit of matter they can consume remains. They do not know fear, they do not know reason, speaking to them through the arts of the green only blasts the user of the practice with a maddening cacophony of noise from the swarm. It is this state that has the swarms challenge any creature, even sea serpents! Creatures so much larger than them that they are practically ants in comparison to it, on a regular basis. Tearing at their hides and severing flesh in small, barely noticeable amounts. But in doing so filling the ocean with the dark red blood of their blood and staining the waters red. Especially with their own nectar, when the creatures crushes them, pulverises them, and breaks them. It is a vicious cycle that repeats again, and again, which has allowed them to help other creatures be strengthened and grow in power as they adapt. While the piranha’s have grown stronger in return. Able to shred through leather easily, though metal is still quite difficult for them. Lifespan and Development The creatures live for a total of twenty years, but in actuality they have a closer lifespan of six with their nature having them challenge things that far out class them again and again resulting in an early death. They begin life within the swarm. Carried on the back of their kindred, who are bred into being when they are not able to fight something. A strange circle of fight, and breeding has been the only reason these creatures that never sleep and rest have been able to continue to exist despite their frenzied state of being. Otherwise they would have certainly gone extinct out of sheer stupidity in their aggression. Some have even compared the creatures to descendants due to their nature to challenge dragons when they have nothing but a sword, and the stupidity of their actions that never change despite the generations that pass. Territory and Grouping They exist surrounding the nearest, juiciest and biggest creature they can find, though when they are not able to find a large creature to tear into and challenge to the point of the death of their swarm, they will instead head to places with a large amount of creatures instead. Though if there's some big beastie out there there is bound to be remains of these creatures resting near their nests for their blind attempt to savage them. Though this is only the random fights of man that witness the endless cycle of battle between these creatures and others. In grouping they gather in swarms, if one is ever found outside of its swarm then that in itself is going to be an unusual entity. Or one that was born with a mutation and was somehow lucky that it wasn’t consumed by its swarm, which in nature is rare.
  3. Forsaken Chimera Chimera’s have no set appearance, for they are not creatures that are naturally born into the world, but instead abominations that are formed from abusing and twisting flesh mending beyond the limits of what the living flesh can take. There are so many different types of these creatures that can be born into the world, from what was once one of the humanoid races twisted into an abomination of rage and hatred, to creatures that are fused creatures of monsters. What is known is that these creatures are incapable of breeding, and once they have breached the realm of no return their very bodies themselves begin to deteriorate quickly, giving them only a couple of years before they too will perish and simply fall apart at the seams one day. History The history of the Chimera is a complicated one, born first from a tale, or perhaps a fairy tale within tomes that spoke of a woman with a head of a lion, the wings of an eagle and the tail of a serpent. And the immortality that such an entity was able to bring. It had only been a folk lore of course, no basis besides tales and bard song. Yet to the mind of a Necromancer that had reached the peak of their maddened craft it turned into inspiration. Wings of a giant eagle found itself grafted into the back of a woman who desired to have that immortality for themselves. A serpent with deadly venom attached to their spine, somehow still alive and functional. And then finally they moved their head and exchanged it with a lions. Now this should have instantly killed the woman, yet, through some mystery, they had managed to place their mind within the lions head as they fused them together. But it wasn’t immortality that they found with this success. But rapid decay, rot, and a body that was falling away at the seams as a hatred and rage from the monstrous flesh that had fallen upon them had taken over. Physical Appearance As stated already the Chimera doesn’t truly have a ‘base’ origin, just tying itself to the creative madness of those that created them. Some have the base flesh of a humanoid to act as the origin where the grafts and the melding of tissue and flesh had been fused upon it. While others have the base of a monster that was captured alive for them to experiment on. A gryphon could find the hide of a drake fused to its flesh to give it armoured scales, the throat of a venomous great serpent that causes it to breathe out an acidic breathe that burns its own maw, and have its talons replaced with paws with razor sharp claws. They would be an excuse coursing with pain, anguish, and madness, falling to pieces while their mind lingers and trapped them within their torment. With that in mind the threat level of one Chimera can vastly change from one abomination to another. At times it may simply be easier to allow the rot of their flesh to take them instead of reaching out to deal with them, especially if a Necromancer sacrificed their own life to bring something truly monstrous into this world. Like a creature made through the bones of a dragon. The impossibility of it may be high, but not impossible, and there have been horror stories of these creatures taking to the world with armies of their creatures following their path against the land. Mental Characteristics The mentality of the Chimera can depend on the source and head of the creature. Should the head be that of a beast, unless some unknown craft is done to transfer the brain and mind of another creature into that vessel, the intelligence of the Chimera will match that of the beast but driven into a frenzied state. Similarly if the head was that of a man, they would have the sharp intelligence of that of a man, but driven by a sadistic cruelty that would have them taking pleasure in the suffering of others and being unable to comprehend the rights and wrongs of the world. The desires, and passions of the intelligent Chimera still remain, as do their memories when they are driven into this frenzied state. Deteriorating and rotting. Those that had passions of love could find themselves hunting the individual they cared about so greatly, tormenting, and torturing them and all they cared for in their final years of existence. Along with savouring the fear and pain of everything and everyone they can get their hands on. That is - if the flesh that they had grafted too doesn’t take over with its own instincts. The flesh of a sea serpent could consume the chosen Chimera with a sense of hunger that has them feasting on all that they can get ahold of even as their body is unable to keep it all down. Yet it won’t stop them from biting down. With all that said, the mind of a Chimera, can be intelligent, can be cruel, but almost always is unique to the individual Chimera and the body and mind that created them. A saint can be turned into the cruellest entity in the world when driven by the desire of the ‘greater good’ after all. Lifespan and Development The lifespan of a Chimera will only be able to survive for several years. Two at a limit, though there have been cases where they have been able to prolong their existence to the most of four years in this state. Either through a regenerative property or replacing their dying flesh with that of others. Somehow inheriting a limited span of their own creators' magic when it comes to their own flesh. With that said they do not develop any further since creation. Even if they are able to mend and attach flesh to where it has begun to fail and fall from their form it is only a temporary measure and doesn’t add anymore strength to the strength that they already have on the final completion of their form. A Chimera has also been documented as being unable to sire anymore once the magic has been infused with them. Most would consider this a blessing considering the twisted nature of the creatures that there will be no risk of aberrations being born. Territory and Grouping Chimera’s do not work together with their own beings, while they seem to be able to recognize creatures born from the same magic and have less hostility towards them than they do everyone else. It is not usually to the point where they will permit the others existence before them. Though on the rare instance where two Chimera are documented to see each other, there have been chases where they just ignore the presence of the other and go on their own way. Showing themselves to be for the most part solo hunters. This however is not always true. For the Chimera’s that have managed to successfully kill their own creators will find themselves able to direct, and guide the puppets their former master had once controlled. Allowing the Chimera to have their own horde to direct, drive, and push. Increasing the danger that the Chimera falls under by several degrees of threat. When a Chimera of this nature is scouted it's usually a high alert situation for the nearby nation to call to arms to deal with it. Or risk their home and surrounding denizens being ravaged to ruin.
  4. Draconian Crustacean Bubble Lord, Crustation Ruler, Secret Island, Crab Dragon, these are some of the names the creature goes by when its name is brought up in shanty's and song among the wee-folks of the sea. A massive creature that you are more likely to roam upon the shell or fighting its serpentine tongue than realising the true depth and size of it. Most oftenly discovered on the ocean surface and believed to be an island, ships will shore up to the sandy depths that have gathered onto the head of the crustacean and usually explore the island as if it didn’t lay upon the back of a living organism’s shell. This, only to find a large serpent appearing from the waters themselves, opening its maw and letting out a roar before shooting a highly powered force of compressed acidic water down on the crew. History The history of this creature is one mixed with folklore and sailor song, for those that have encountered it have either been felled by it or awed by the experience. Those words usually turned into song and disbelief, sung or spoken at taverns. Some stories are told of an island that sits upon the edge of the surface and moves through the ocean, never found at the same spot. It is said to be protected by a great serpent, holding secret treasures yet to be claimed. Others speak of an armoured sea beast with a thick shell that even cannon fire had issues dealing with, of sunken ships and molten steel. Some tales even speak of the kraken of the blood land’s tendrils battling with another beast of equal size within the waters, causing the rapid shifting of the tides and the crash of the ocean as the battle of the century would show before them. While many of these tales dance from ear to ear, there are only a few that have encountered these creatures that did in fact discover the truth about them. These creatures do not tend to reveal themselves in their true and full form unless caught by surprise, or enraged by the actions of their would-be prey. The lack of survivors to this beast’s affairs lead to the history and knowledge about this creature being scattered and viewed differently from culture to culture. The seafolk believe the beast to be a kingdom wide threat, while humanity a folk lore and story and dragon-folk a potential fight should the stories be true. It is only once in a many centuries time that rumours or reports of this creature are declared in history. With such a scattered and inconsistent history, only the people themselves may decide how they view this beast of a draconian creature in the current century. What is known, to all that have heard of it, is that this creature is a threat, a danger, and something to be wary of. Physical Appearance The draconian Crustacean is a strange creature within the bloodline of dragons, not only by its appearance, but that its form is more closely tied to shellfish with its carapace and shell than that of a dragon. Truly nothing more than a ‘fake dragon’. By size, the creature is usually mistaken as a small island, when it lays upon the surface of the ocean floating in the current. This is the most commonly discovered moment of its existence. It displays a crimson shell hidden underneath sand, earth, and plant life that has likely once been at the bottom of the ocean before it was lifted to the surface. Once the crustacean shakes off that earth and reveals its true form, however, it appears as a dragon with the massive body of a crab connected to it. A long serpentine head that roars with a thundering cry and breathing out a highly condensed pressure of acidic water down upon its foes follows said body. Two eye-like stalks grow from this head that lead down its armoured neck to a large body, where two more stalks grow from the body itself. Massive claws that could easily crush a ship also grow from its body. The body shape and legs take on a form similar to that of a crab but with a much bulkier and thicker carapace that is segmented. Jutting out of the back of the body are wings that hold the same armoured form of the draconian which, when used, allow the creature to launch itself from the water and come crashing down, or move more swiftly within it. Given its massive weight, the wings aid its leaps more than granting it true flight. Finally, there is a long armoured tail that whips behind its shell. The ‘head’ proves itself to be false upon being slain, biting off the neck-like mandible and leaving it to float away. As the massive fanged maw of the creature reveals itself, the body of the crustacean begins to open wide. With the mandible lost, the creature is no longer able to breathe out highly powered acid waters, instead letting out bursts of bubbles that pop with enough force to send all around it rocking back while the acidic waters burn against flesh and armour, melting them within the liquid painfully. Mental Characteristics The creature is an ambush predator, by nature, hiding its treasure and hoard underneath its form and connected to the ocean, buried deep. The Draconian Crustacean either settles under the sand at the bottom of the ocean to hide its form as its ‘mandible’ floats around trying to detect food to latch up and feast upon, or up on the surface of the ocean masquerading itself as an island. Once prey is nearby, the mandible will attack, striking out to bite with a jaw or sending out a condensed beam of water that can damage the body of a ship while melting all it touches with its acidic nature. Should the prey it has attacked prove itself too much a danger and manage to kill its mandible more often than not it will sever the limb, biting through it and retreating to the depths to recover its treasure and flee and leaving the mandible and its own powerful shell and acids as a prize for the prey that turned out to be predators to claim. Should the draconian creature be enraged, however, attacking or attempting to claim its young, threatening its treasure or numerous other ways, it shall not falter even should the illusion of its false head be broken. When in such a state, it uses its size, claws and tail to their full ability, launching themselves up from the water or into the air to come crashing down upon their prey. Their tail whips around with agile yet powerful movements and their claws reach to grab, and crush their prey, should they be able to lock down the movement of their target between their jaws filled with powerful and sharp fangs. While in disadvantage, it usually sends out a burst of bubbles that surround it and pop, sending a powerful burst that knocks most folks flying while coating them in burning acid strong enough to begin melting most types of steel, not to mention flesh. These bubbles seem to be harmless upon their own carapace. Additionally, in those circumstances, it may also send a wave of those bubbles towards foes that are at a distance away. They are not the most accurate methods of attacks, compared to the serpentine limb, but the bubbles are numerous and, even if not directly hitting the prey, the force of them and the drips of acidic waters will more often than not still catch its prey. Lifespan and Development The crustaceans do not appear to have a limit to their life span. Instead, it is their size that determines just how old they are as the older the creature is the larger their shell and form appears to grow. Young versions of the creatures hide within the bottom of the ocean among coral reefs, allowing them to grow on their shells as they slowly become larger and larger under them. These feed upon fish as they continue to grow in size and hide away from predators that would be a danger to them. Once they have reached a large enough size, the reef that they had been growing in will be shattered from their form and they will begin to roam, searching for treasures to claim and a hoard for their own, usually in the form of ship wreckage that glimmers or anything else that shines from the ocean. Once they have amassed enough of a hoard to feel content, they will once again gather up material to cover their shell with and move to the surface of the sea where they begin to ‘nest’, acting as a tiny island with their treasures hidden underneath them on the ocean floor. Senses split between their mandibles and their main bodies, eyes to be constantly watching their hoard and in search of food. They will continue to remain in that position until the area they have nested in becomes barren of food, where they will move their treasure to a new place to feed within the sea. This routine will continue until the creature is forced to sever its mandible and retreat. Unable to ‘disguise’ itself with the loss of the limb it will retreat with its treasure and seek a mate, offering its treasure for protection siring young with the other draconian it had discovered. Once the mandible has regrown it will leave the new found ‘parent’ with the kids and take a portion of its treasure back as it moves back into the ocean to gather more. This cycle will continue again and again until the dragon is enraged into a final fight that ends the dragon's life, or is hunted down even after escaping and forced to fight the prey that had become the predator. Territory and Grouping Their territory is a combination of the ocean floor and the surface, taking up several different areas depending on the size and the age of the draconian. As draconians, they are solitary creatures, preferring to rule over their own territory alone. Yet, on occasion, it is possible to find multiple of their kind together by some range of bad luck: a mandible-less mate, and a scattering of their yet to be hatched mate. In this state, both of them will frenzy if threatened and will not be able to calm down until they have removed any and all threats to their young.
  5. Musin Wingsuits Why Musin? The simple answer is that Musin have an extremely low muscle mass, and therefore a low weight comparative to their body. Description Musin Wingsuits are designed to give the user the ability to glide. Most Musin or people with some experience can create them. The 'wings' are created out of fabrics or any material available that is viable. The material is double layered, and is sealed on the outsides. The first layer of the wing (The 'first' being the one facing the ground) is punctured in a specific array carefully that allows for air to be trapped within the wing and slow downward movement. The wings are attached directly to leather which can be strapped around a leg or arm. The leather should cover as much surface area as possible, only leaving the knees, elbows, or any points that need to move uncovered. For the midsection of the body, a piece of wood or hardened leather can be used to bind the wings to the body, thus increasing the surface area that the wings are connected to. The purpose of this is to catch the air as you descend, slowing down your speed, and transferring that into forward movement. It is imperative that there is little spacing between the body and the wings. A successful wingsuit would also boast fabric in between the legs, helping to steer and glide better. The fabric between the legs of the user would not have the same holes as the wings, and would be slightly looser than the primary wings. The purpose of this is to allow slightly more air to escape through the secondary wings, and propel you forward. Usage Putting on the wingsuits depends on the model. The most sensical option would have whatever holds the wing to your body strap on with laces like a boot or belt straps. A good order for equipping the suit and it’s parts would go as such: main body, upper legs, lower legs, lower arms, and upper arms. Walking with the suit on is somewhat awkward. It would not allow for a full range of motion with your legs, but not restrict it entirely. The secondary wings would make it easy to trip on terrain other than flat. The loosely hanging fabric (if used) would make it easy for it to get snagged on. In general, the suit would be quite uncomfortable and annoying for long term use. Redlines Wingsuits DO NOT allow the user to fly. ONLY GLIDE. Wingsuits CANNOT be used to reach higher locations (there are exceptions). Users that are not considered light cannot use this invention. It simply does not make sense. The heavier, the more you will fall instead of glide. Extra Notes Wingsuits could possibly be used for any race, though I believe it’s the most viable with Musin with the current technology developed in the world of LOTC (there could be much more I do not know about, but I am going off of what I see). 6. Deep within the dark, dank sewers of Courland, Schnub'nub works tirelessly in his hidden lab on a serum that could change the fate of smaller races in Axios forever. After nine attempts on creating the finest serum in strength enhancing, Schnub'nub believes he has perfected his recipe. Humming as he works, he inserts the ingredients in to a pot. He grabs plenty of cactus green, the crushed up remains of a Fjarriauga's tooth, Uruk piss distilled with ale, the toenails of a Jabbernack, the locks of a young high elf maiden, warm milk, and Schnub'nub's secret ingredient, mixing them all together thoroughly. The potion comes out with a sickly green glow. Schnub'nub wafts his creation, "gud enuf". He then writes the ingredients down. Schnub'nub spends time looking at his rancid brew, pondering what will happen when he consumes it. Will it kill him? Will it make him strong? Only one way to find out. Schnub'nub opens the container and chugs it all down, not a single drop remaining. Instantly, the goblin starts to feel stronger. He grows an astounding three feet in height, and two-hundred pounds of muscle mass. Truly the ultimate goblin fighting machine. Schnub'nub picks up a rock and crumbles it to dust in his hands. He bursts from the sewers, grabbing the first elf boy he sees, pulling him down the sewer drain. Schnub'nub awakes with a vague recollection of what had happened in the last 10 minutes. Bits and pieces of the elf boy lay beside him, his stomach full. He looks at his body, his muffin-top seems bigger than before. Schnub'nub's eyesight is terrible, he can vaguely make out the new warts on his hands. His eyes are stained bloodshot. Standing up, he has a sharp pain in his back. Schnub'nub has a hunchback now. He looks around for his notebook, wanting to write down his memories. However, Schnub'nub has forgotten how to write. Later, he regains his knowledge on how to write and writes his findings down. "SchNuB SerUm X, aNothEr FaIlUre. HoWevEr, it iz Gud enuF. Mi wIll zchlEEp nOw". Rules, Buffs, and Debuffs of Schnub Serum X 1. Only halflings and goblins are able to use it 2. After use, you should emote growing taller and stronger 3. You have four emotes/actions in this state. All of which are empowered and very difficult to counter, however after the serum wears off the user passes out and is easily killed. 4. While under the serum's spell, your character CAN NOT distinguish friend from foe. 5. After the serum wears off, you revert back into your average height. 6. Also after the serum wears off, you should obtain a hunchback and terrible eyesight permanently. 7. This serum lasts for a very short time, you should only use it when in serious danger. 8. The serum is very hard to come by, as there is only a handful of people who know how to make the brew.
  7. *This thread is over 6k words. For easy of reading, mind the spoilers.* *For anybody wishing to comment "But Fi-magic is the anti-magic, this is unneeded!", abjuration is already present as a spell to negate magic, under transfiguration. Furthermore, counterspell is one ability of the five active ones in the magic submission. As per the submission, it couldn't be even used completely on its own.* Support abjuration! Here's the official banner. Also, first lore submission a magic submission. Big thanks to Lhindir, EdgyMagey for their critique and ideas for the lore, as well as to Fury_Fire for the harsh critique on the first, 1.0 version that shall never be released from shame. Overview: This suggestion is about moving abjuration (but not warding and enchanted wards) from transfiguration into an own school of magic centered around the manipulation of mana in the surroundings, with a spellcasting / usage system different to most other magics, based on available lore and the core principles of voidal magic. This includes current available lore on abjuration as well. The school would retain the original idea of abjuration in the form of one of its spells, with the change that the new counterspell would not simply negate a spell but absorb it for use against its caster. The base idea is a dual system, where the abjurer keeps hopping between two sets of spells, between an attempt to focus on support and endurance or offense and burst. 8. Galdame "Lady of Madness" Galdame, also called the “Lady of Madness”, is the voice inside your head, the person who calls your name when no person is around. She is the figure you see float just around a corner, vanishing into thin air. She is the one who makes you do things that you might normally question just at the sound of her voice, using her words to break and bend your mind into any form she pleases. She is the seed from which Madness grows, and she grows it for entertainment, for destruction, for chaos. Galdame is the Daemon of Madness, Insanity, and Trickery. She seeks those who are of weak of heart, or mind, and corrupts them. She enjoys watching her work destroy families, kingdoms, and perhaps entire realms and relishes in the sadness that her madness creates in her ‘Chosen’, or the beings unto whom she inflicts her madness upon. Not much is known of Galdame, for she rarely reveals details of her past with her subjects, but some believe that long ago, she fell in love with a mortal man whom she watched from afar. She grew accustomed to seeing him and watching over him, but after many decades of admiring him silently, he died. This drove Galdame into a great fury and depression, which eventually broke her mind. She believed, after this occurrence, that madness was the natural outcome of heartbreak and the Daemon sought to nurture this idea into something further. Galdame is assumed to be the "Shepherd of Insanity", her control of the mind’s deepest trenches being quite powerful over the Descendant Races. She actively seeks for men and women born with weaker minds, or weak constitutions, and begins to nurture the cracks in their mentality, forcing her way in. From there, she begins to interact with her ‘Chosen’, perhaps creating illusions that only they can see or whispering to them whilst they are alone and vulnerable. This is her game, and she takes great pleasure in seeing how her victims experience what she felt when her love and life crumbled before her. Galdame believes that madness is the route to control, that one only need harness that insanity in order to take that being & and use them for one's own purposes. She creates madnes because she takes joy in watching people break and crumble, falling into a pit of their own making. The further her madness spreads, the more control she has over people who can conquer, destroy, or even kill at her behest. To tamper with the mind is to tamper with life, which is Galdame's utter & true purpose. She wants to make her mark upon the Descendants by ushering them towards war and hate, to put on a show that she can gaze upon and laugh at. ================================================================================= Chosen The ‘Chosen’, as they’re called, are the beings chosen by Galdame as her unfortunate victims. Sometime after their birth, and learning of their mental weakness, Galdame will begin her whispering and tormenting to ensure that those cracks in the mind stay open for her to enter into, securing a future with that being as a ‘guide’. However, as the Chosen grow older, some seek to fight against their mistress and expel her, which usually end in either terrible seizures, a complete breaking of the mind, or death. Those who enjoy her company, or see the whispers in their head as a comforting guide, often never wish to leave her and hide themselves away so that they might remain alone with their “mother”. On certain occasions, the Daemon will even speak her name to them, so that they might whisper it under their breath and allow her madness to spread to others just at the mention of her. Some of Galdame’s victims are those of the religious sort, who seek guidance from The Creator or any particular deity. Believing to hear the voices of holy spirits or God in their heads, Galdame is often able to easily trick these people into thinking that their prayers were answered, and that what these whispers speak of is what that individual should believe and carry out. Galdame, in the rare times she has been seen, is usually a tall woman, dressed in regal attire and sporting a crown atop her head. Her hair is long and pale, her cheeks hollow and eyes like a snake. She can also warp her voice in any way she pleases, so the voice in one mind is not like the other. Her allure and illusive qualities are what often drag her victims under her spell, a fact which Galdame takes immeasurable pride in. [Out of Character] So, being inspired by Sythan's post and by a little idea I had a while ago, I decided to conjure up and add to a Daemon of my own creation. Having played with people in the past who play their personas as having some sort of of mental illness, be it hearing voices in your head or seeing things that aren't there (Etc.), I decided to create Galdame to be that voice in their head, the faceless voice that maddens them or pushes them to make certain decisions. On a IC-level, the player would be allowed to decide how limited (or unlimited) the control Galdame has over them might be, and how they might fight against her should they choose to do so. If you want to lock yourself in a dark room and worship her or spit at her name and deny her, that is all up to you! Also, this Daemon does not HAVE to be the seed or creator of your persona's insanity. Galdame is simply for those who wish to add a bit more to their mental/madness RP and give it a bit more story to play with as they wish! Plus, you know, Daemons are cool....
  9. Tombers "Creatures of the dark" The Tombers are dark-skinned, handless creatures. They have four legs and are quite agile. The Tomber is a dark creature, but it doesn't drain life-force; A Tomber explodes when near a creature next to him has life-force. When a Tomber explodes, It's body parts disappear, only leaving a grey and life-less core. The explosion drains all of the raw lifeforce it's captured, and if a Tomber does not get enough life force in one explosion, his core remains. The cores are not breakable. The more lifeforce a Tomber core managed to gather, the darker it becomes. When a Tomber's core remains exposed, It drains any bit of lifeforce from nearby, (A ten inch radius) until it gathers enough lifeforce to recreate. A Tomber will always look to gather more and more lifeforce. Necromancers may protect their lifeforce at will, But will not be able to take lifeforce away from a Tomber's core. Re-producing If a Tomber gathers more lifeforce than necessary for himself, a core begins to grow on the Tomber's back. The growing core will not drain lifeforce from creatures. If a Tomber explodes when a core is growing upon him, The un-finished core will not disappear. It will be coated with a white, sticky liquid, that melts anything that touches it from the outside. Once the Tomber revives itself, It simply bends down and consumes the core, causing the core to appear on his back. If it managed to gather spare lifeforce in his explosion, The lifeforce is given to the building core.
  10. Art by: Picky Wallpapers Chiyaki ♚(A Sub-Culture of the Farfolk/Easterners)♚ Introduction: ------------- The Chiyaki of the Far East are a very elusive group of people, and not well known among their cousins in Vailor. Located on two large islands far from the troubles of the rest of the races and cultures, the Chiyaki people have grown into quite a peaceful group of humans, free of any troubles until recently. Under the Phoenix Emperor, the people of what they call The Empire of Chiyoko are taught to pursue what they wish, but never adventure outside of their islands. They are advanced when it comes to proficiency in building and studying things like plants and marine life. The Chiyaki are supporters of the arts, creating fine china and oil paintings to decorate their temples, pagodas, and noble palaces. This is a guide to the history, culture, and customs of this rarely heard of culture of people. to enlighten those who may seek to adventure to this mysterious land. ♚ Early History: ♚ ----------------- The earliest history of the Chiyaki people is recorded in old scrolls and tomes, describing the arrival of a group of explorers hailing from the West. Their leaders, Amelia and Raja, were of Heartlander and Farfolk descent, respectively, and had sailed a group of their close friends East to discover what they might find, to bring back to their Kings and Emperors. One of these fellow adventurers, Saleema, record that, during their journey, "Our ship was caught in a great storm, giant waves pushing the ship about like a toy." A further account of the aftermath of this tome is provided by the male leader, Raja, who claims that the ship was wrecked upon the shore of a large landmass, the group losing two to the vast ocean that had spit them out. Gathering what they could from the wreck, they built a small town deemed "Seaside" upon the coast, intermarrying with one another and beginning the Chiyaki culture as we know it today. As the leaders and founders of the town, Amelia and Raja were named Lord and Lady of Seaside, holding a grand official ceremony for their town in 1378. As the generations grew older and began to adapt to the island, their skin grew tanner and their eyes shaped into a slight slant. This effect on the eyes occurred due to the town being settled on a beach, where many of their farms and homes were out in the exposed sun. Their eyelids adapted to such, altering their appearance and that of this new culture forever. After 20 years, this small town had grown into a small city, many shipwrecked or lost sailors washing up on the shore and calling Seaside their home. After a while, the Council of Seaside began taking a census, recording the amount of people who lived in the city each year. In 1400, the Council called a meeting with the now aged members of the original group of explorers, including Amelia and Raja. At this meeting, it was decided that this city, with it's now expanding lands beginning to sprout with smaller villages and trading posts, needed a ruler of a higher station. Eight of the Nine Councilors agreed to crown Raja as their "Phoenix Emperor", taking on a similar system of class and government as they had lived under in their old lands. The Phoenix, a mythical bird, was chosen because it is reborn when it dies, rising from the ashes as the explorers did when they wrecked on the islands so many years before. ♚ List of Phoenix Emperors: ♚ ------------------------- Phoenix Emperor Raja Saefang, First of His Name, Ruler of the Chiyoko Empire (1400 - 1420): Raja Saefang was born to a Farfolk merchant and his wife in the back of a wagon. Some would later write that this was the reason for his adventurous nature. After being crowned Emperor, Raja arranged for the Lazuli Palace to begin contruction, the main building components being white marble and special bricks made of Lapiz. This grand palace was to be where he and his family would reside, the materials being collected from the large and wealthy mines that the Council had opened a few years before. His reign, not including his time as "Lord", was one of the shorter ones in the history of the Empire. He died of a chill, at the age of 59. Sometimes called "Raja The Explorer". Phoenix Emperor Tomoha Saefang, First of His Name, Ruler of the Chiyoko Empire (1420 - 1481): Eldest and only son of Raja and Amelia, Emperor Tomoha was crowned on the morning after his father had passed on. Being 19, he had escaped a regency, but he was forced to wed that same year to the daughter of one of the original explorers, Kellan Windsweep. This girl, Setsuna Windsweep, would eventually become one of the greatest Empress-consorts and Empress-Regents in history, assisting in building Seaside's first homeless shelter and orphanage. Tomoha, during his reign of 61 years, accomplished many crucial objectives like creating a proper tax system, establishing a formal Imperial military force, and finally making official the nobility system of the Chiyoko Empire. Tomoha died in 1481, passing of a heart attack whilst watching a katana duel. Phoenix Emperor Raja Saefang, Second of His Name, Ruler of the Chiyoko Empire (1481 - 1489 [Regency] / 1489 - 1532) Raja II of House Saefang was only 9 years old when he was crowned Phoenix Emperor, his mother Empress Regent Setsuna taking over as regent until he came of age in 1489. This when a bit of discord was felt within their once peaceful Empire, the Council fighting over why a woman should take the regency over a lord or proper man of the Imperial Council. Raja is not known for very much, other than having a tomb made for his family and building a better market for the city. Raja was thrown from his horse during a drunken race at the young age of 62. He left one issue, having had two wives who predeceased him and the latter giving him a daughter. Phoenix Empress Riku Saefang, First of Her Name, Ruler of the Chiyoko Empire (1512 - 1528[Regency] / (1528 - Present): Born 2 years before her father's death, Riku Saefang was raised from birth to one day rule the Phoenix Empire as it's first Empress Regnant. Her mother had died giving birth to her, so the Council took over as Regents until she reached 18. Her grandmother would serve in the beginning, until her death at the ripe age of 83. Afterwards, a small count named Manu Shitari would take up the title, educating the young girl in more unspoken skills, such as formal intrigue and spy-keeping. Riku, to this day, is called the brightest ruler the Chiyoko Empire has had thus far, and is known for expanding the city, building the first "Sky Temple", and rewriting the laws of succession, ensuring that the eldest child of the current ruler would inherit the titles of their parents, no matter the gender. ♚ Recent History ♚ ----------------- Phoenix Empress Riku's reign, other than the betrayal of her father-in-law, has been peaceful and prosperous..until a year ago. In 1555, diggers trying to open a new mine outside of Seaside discovered a strange tomb, from a more ancient civilization then their own. Within these ruins, the men found a scroll with strange writings on it, holding it up to the sun to get a better view of the characters. This was their mistake. Whatever dark magic that was inside of the scroll was released upon contact with the sunlight, a great storm coming over the Chiyoko Empire and lasting for several days. Once it passed, many villagers began hearing loud moaning in the night, and claimed to see spirits roaming the lands at night. At first, the Council brushed it off as peasant superstition, but then these more aggressive ghosts, called Poltergeists, began attacking citizens and burning down hamlets. Due to an army of Ghosts arising outside the Capitol, Empress Riku has since sealed off the gates into Seaside, placing checkpoints at each main gate and postern gate so that citizens and lords from the outside could get into their city safely, if their lands were not within the set perimeter. In late 1556, Empress Riku sent her seneschal, Rei Hirosawa, on a small boat to sail towards the latest realm of their cousins, Vailor. She hopes that perhaps, with time, the Empire of the Phoenix could migrate to this land whilst their own land's curse runs it's course, establishing a small Imperial colony to aid them in discussing their troubles with the racial nations. ♚ Appearance: ♚ ---------------- The Chiyaki people are similar in most everything to your common Highlander, Heartlander, or Farfolk, yet some things about them were a bit different: ○ Chiyaki folk are much shorter than most all humans, due to their diets being mostly fruits, vegetables, and fish. The average height for a Chiyaki person is 5'6. ○ Chiyaki, as stated earlier, have slanted eyes due to overexposure to the sun in their earlier settlement on the Islands. Their skin is tan or very pale, depending on their work, and many have either black, red, or brown hair. ♚ Culture:♚ ----------------- ○ The Chiyaki are quite proficient in celebration, holding a Harvest Festival every year in the Autumn Months. Men and women truly dedicated to such celebrations have invented quite a few items to help add to the fun, such as exploding colored powder and wands that sparkle when lit with a candle. ○ The arts are very important to the Chiyaki people, pottery and painting being their main interests. ○ Fashion and Decor are huge amidst the nobility of the Chiyoko Empire, things like exotic metalwork for jewelry and lanterns lighting your home are currently all the rage in Seaside as of late. ○ Everyone born in the Chiyoko Empire is raised to be quite passive and kind to others, only a few men and women holding jealousy or hatred in their heart. They also fear leaving their islands, many of the previous generations of Chiyoki saying that contact with Oren and the other human kingdoms might corrupt their pureness. Having carried over the Faith of Cannon from their old lands, they still build large temples in honor of the Creator and have a celebration for him every 5 years in the Lazuli Palace. (OOC:) This lore submission is something I have been working on for a while. I know a few people who have made asian-inspired characters, and I noticed that not a lot of lore was establish for such a culture....so here you have it ^__^ Feel free to leave suggestions with topics I should add, pictures, etc. Keep in mind, this is a sub-culture submission for the Farfolk Sub-Race. This is not intended to be a sub-race, nor is the land mentioned even supposed to be real. This is just lore for a culture that many, like myself, need some good background information for. In the "Recent History", I mention that the Empress has sent a ambassador of sorts to relate their problems to the leaders in Vailor. This is how, if approved, I will connect this land to Vailor and our next realm, due to their need to escape from the impending ghosts and ghouls! I also vow to constantly add to this snip of basic lore, and keep it as up to date as possible if approved! THANK YOU AND ENJOY! ^__^
  11. "The Amaranthine Beetle" Origin and Known Facts: It is unknown if the Amaranthine beetle is in close relation to the scarab, but it shares with this other breed of beetle a similar shape, size, and dark coloring. The armor of this beetle is a dark, yet glowing shade of purple, protecting it's inner skeleton and making it hard for other creatures to crush or eat. It is quick to move and, seemingly, craves biting the flesh of creatures it finds threatening. The bites are known thus far to only cause prolonged pain around the site of the bite, little is known about the long-term or short-term side effects. Recently surfaced, these beetles are still elusive and hard to track, but scholars have already deduced that these large insects burrow deep within the Earth, perhaps attracted to sewers and areas with waste. Seeming to travel in massive groups, these beetles are seemingly drawn to other animal's activity and sense danger at their presence , creatures like humans and elves being prime targets for these vicious beasts. Sighting(s): *A previous attack on Courland by these beetles was made a few years ago, though the events were not recorded and thus not much is known about this initial attack.* 1553 - The capitol city of Courland, Iralis, was attacked by a large 100-sum swarm of the Amaranthine Beetles, a large host having to mass before the insects could be terminated. They sprouted up from the ground, and traveled in packs to cover more areas. They were able to climb steps with ease, biting several peasants and nobles alike, though the effects of these wounds are still unknown. A couple dozen escaped back underground, digging under the dirt and gravel. They have not been seen since but some worry that these insects have made a home underneath the newly-built city. (ooc:) And that is my first Lore entry/submission! I was inspired to do this because of the "Beetle" event that occurred today in Courland, where hundreds of purple beetles attacked the city from underground. Even if this doesn't get approved, do give me feedback about what you think. I thought adding a "still being researched and studied" element would be interesting, since one of my persona's friends was bitten and I am intrigued to RP what happens to a subject when bitten and then recording it here! I love writing & creating lore for other games, and I think this was a nice start for me on lore-crafting LOTC Style! Enjoy! ^__^
