  1. A Traveller’s Guide to the Hamlet of Enswerp [!] Depiction of the Hamlet on a sunny day c. 1964 [Credit and huge thanks to @Borinand @Capace for the awesome build!] THE HAMLET OF ENSWERP Established in 1964, the Hamlet of Enswerp is designed to help protect one of the primary routes into eastern Aevos and the majority of the Apostolic Kingdom’s land. Ser Stefano Montelliano was bestowed the honor of being the hamlet’s first bailiff, and with the help of Crown Prince Charles the region was quickly raised up to provide a home for the local peasantry. As a result, Enswerp has become a suitable place for those seeking a rural lifestyle without the oversight of the Peerage & Nobility. As long as you are of a Canonist lifestyle, then you are welcome to the hamlet. There’s very little that is disallowed, and the community is welcoming of those that seek a new life beyond the norm of other realms and settlements. Within the hamlet, there is an increased degree of autonomy that is uncommon in other human villages. This is due to the relationship that any resident may develop between the Bailiff and themselves. AN OPEN INVITATION WITH BENEFITS There are several, potential reasons why someone would wish to settle in Enswerp. This is not a complete list, but simply some highlights for those that might find themselves interested... I. Low Taxes The Hamlet of Enswerp, despite its prime location, is not a place for those who want to spend colossal sums of golden coins on their upkeep - quite the contrary. The taxes levied on the Hamlet are modest, each citizen is required to contribute an amount of TEN MINAE which, in conversion, amounts to ONE FULL ENSWERP MARK a year. At the moment the Office of the Bailiff does not foresee a tax increase. II. Greater Inclusiveness Our settlement is small, focused on slow development built on the basis of cooperation and good neighbourly relations. It doesn't matter who you are - human, elf, dwarf or gnome, you will always be welcome here as long as you follow the rules of the hamlet. Every day since the village was founded we have been meeting new faces who stop for a while during the long journey through the Lowlands before continuing on their way - this is how we build positive relations and improve our reputation. III. Work Enswerp offers several job opportunities - ranging from farmer to militia member, and perhaps one day the Bailiff himself. However, one should not think that this is the only thing that needs to be done. When the time comes to implement the project ordered by the Bailiff, every resident, regardless of their gender, should get to work to jointly build the village's future. CULTURE & SOCIETY Location: Our village is located on the east bank of the River Leone, right in front of the ruins of Andregrad, once the capital of the Duchy of Stran. The architecture is predominantly wooden, as is the bridge, St. Daniel's Crossing, which allows travelers to cross the river. Once on the east bank of the river, travellers are greeted by a small local tavern - Stefano's Greasy Spoon - where they can rest as well as eat and drink for ONE MINAE. Deep in the woods to the left of the tavern stands Fort Alba, which acts as a local garrison where the Bonnie Brigade, the local militia, is stationed. Further towards the ruins of Andregrad lies the hamlet where the entire, however small, population of Enswerp lives. In addition to the vast farmlands, the settlement itself has a humble smithy, an apiary where we produce our local honey and the church of the Blessed Calliope of Merryweather. Prominent Individuals: Charles Reman Alstion - The Lord of Alba - @Olox_ Ser Stefano Montelliano - The first Bailiff of Enswerp - @Sebbysc Jan Nowak - The Captain of the Bonnie Brigade - @Pork Lembic Urbran - Local Gnome Doctor - @siglms_ Signed, Ser Stefano Montelliano, the Bailiff of Enswerp Jan Nowak, the Captain of the Bonnie Brigade HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS, Charles Reman Alstion, the Lord of Alba
