     The Styrian forces are a hardy and unforgiving batch of men and women. They are unruly on the field of battle, inflicting casualties twice their own. With such tenacity and viciousness, the folk of Styria makes up for their small numbers with the skill to rival their neighbors.

     The Margrave’s army consists of three warbands. The first under the Margrave, typically sporting some sort of black tunic with a red sewn lining. Their weapons range from short axes to arming swords and then to maces. They typically sport a chainmail layer beneath their tabard, and a well-suited gambeson even beneath that. The second warband consists of the Radovic forces. This motley crew does not have a set uniform in particular, but instead typically the clothes on their backs. Usually brandishing a scimitar, with a bow and a set of arrows, the Radovic forces typically act as a skirmishing unit within the Margrave’s army. The last warband is under the service of Hans Rovin. This group is more sell-sword then actual levyman and essentially plays the part as the heavy infantry within the Margrave’s forces. Wearing Gothic plate, to heavy gambesons, wielding long pikes and messer blades. On their left breast lies a sigil of yellow and black, heraldry of the Waldenian pride.  

     Knights are quite commonly found employed the Margrave’s services and are quite of a common supply. Styria accepts all status of men seeking glory and fame, from the simple errant to the landed knight. Many who also aspire to prove themselves noble and just within the lands of Renatus may also join the margrave’s army and received a letter of recommendation to the Margrave Knight Order after a tenure of twelve saint’s years. This may also be cut short dependent if the aspirant seeks to prove themselves to be an outstanding soldier and displays notable qualifications of knighthood.

     A unique feature within the ranks of the Margrave’s army is that there is not a particular organized ranking system found in other levies and or the imperial army of the crownlands. Instead, might makes right. The hierarchy is as follows:

The time of talking was over and the clarion call sounded to the men and women of the Margraviate, the smell of incense and metallic sounds of iron filled the air around castle Vilcaz. Their target, the hold of Sun’s Smile. A rider would make his way to the castle, delivering a missive as follows.

    The lands of Styria are a vast wooded area littered with mounds and knolls of rocks and earth. Founded by the late Arpad of Ivanovich, the margraviate was a small title, claiming the castles of Vilacz and Radom, along with the manor of the Churchills. The margrave boasted well in commerce and war as it supported the crown with a substantial levy, along with a large sum of coinage. However, with the passing of Arpad, the margraviate fell into a state of stagnation and rapid decay. The Churchills hid from the empire, whilst the strelts of Radom all but vanished. Vilacz was all that remained of the former margraviate, as its border were encroached upon by outside entities forming small hamlets. In recent times, Konyves of the house of Ivanovich has brought about an age of renewal to the region, staving off marauders and lawless brigands. Fighting unruly vassals of the Empire and securing it’s most northern border from the other races. It is now with the margrave’s borders nearly secure that it looks to renew its infrastructure and raise about new vassals of the ever-expanding Empire of Man.

Castle Vilacz

Located on the upper echelons of the Baltas river stands a mighty bulwark of stone. Appearing similar to the town across from it in design, through having slight variations in its stone-work. This is the seat of the House of Ivanovich and the capital of Styria.

Constructed in a single saint’s day, this castle is small in stature and rests at the begging of a slope that leads to the higher plains of the Styria heartland. It is the northern fort of Styria and for the Empire as a whole. This is the seat of the landed knight Gnaeus Domitius.

While you can argue I’m the player the orcs Hate(™) the most, I still care about their community, which I consider to be mine too, and thus I decided to do another one of these! I won’t be explaining much about the orcs, rather, I’ll just encourage you to make one! Why? Well….

Quality Roleplay with Good People:

While orcs can be a bit memey sometimes, the serious part of the RP is simply amazing. It is beyond every nation strives to achieve.

This week’s topic: Clans.

Clans play a big part in the orcish society. Let it be your ‘birth’ clan if your character is someone’s son, or if you joined them through the trials, I’m going to run over every single aspects related to clans, which are which, and other things!

When thinking of orcish clans you have to stick in your mind that they are NOT something that’s not a part of the Krughai. For some reason, I’ve had people thinking Clans were separate nations so just to clarify.

Clans, in the Orcish society, generally determine your identity, way of being, and, should your orc be a religious person, each clan has their own Spirits of choice (For example: Lak has Laklul, Raguk has Gentharuz and so on).

All of these clans have played a big part in the orcish history, some even being historical, being the case of Raguk with Kharak’Raguk, Destroyer of Vailor.

But the focus is on their identity and how each clan determines who you are, on other’s views.

We’re going to start with:

CLAN RAGUK

(Clan Raguk was my clan for most of my characters, so we’ll start with that)

The commonly Red Orcs of Raguk are generally smaller than most orcs. They tend to grow to 6’ to 7’5”, but they compensate on sheer strength and overall skills. Clan Raguk has a really cool thing about them: Blood Smithing.

But we’ll get to that later.

Clan Raguk are the cogs in the Rexdom. They work day and night for the betterment of their nation. They are proud. Red as the blood that sears their hands.

The stalwart and powerful orcs are workers. Very hard workers. They are the backbone of productivity.

Raguk consists of mostly powerful Smiths, having the unique Dâr ob Griish (Blood Smiths) and mighty Miners. For the Raguks, if you are not born into the clan, you’ve a hard trial of strength, intelligence and perseverance.  

Like every other clan (Most), Raguk has an unique mount for them…

The Myrzym. Mighty, 11 feet tall elephants classic to Clan Raguk. Generally used as mounts, they can be fierce combatants with their tusks as well.

CLAN YAR:

There’s a common stereotype within the orcish society that defines orcs of the Clan Yar as shamans and shamans only. That’s not true. Clan Yar does have most of the greatest and most wise orcs of all time. For some examples:

REX U’la’Yar (ultravioletpixie)

These figures are both shamans, but not only that, but influential figures to the orcish society.

Yar forms the wiser orcs and, like their own said, they are not expected to fight. They are, of course, still uruks and will fight fiercely to defend their brothers and sisters but they are, like the Raguk, who are the producement backbone, the Yar are the cultural backbone of orcish society. They are story tellers, shamans, teachers, strategists. Orcs of the clan Yar don’t have a fix ‘color’ for them, unlike Raguk, who are commonly Redskins.

Clan Yar doesn’t have a special mount ((If they do, can a Yar smite me and correct me in the comments? Thanks))

Aside from that, Yars are known to have held various positions of powers, some notable REX’s of Yar:

Rex Vorgo’Yar

Rex Phaedrus’Yar (If he was, I don’t really remember, correct me if I’m wrong)

They are a tradicional clan, with some laws being:

“Do not speak the language of the pink skin, for that is an abomination to Krug”

“Do not take the pink skin as your mate, for that is an abomination to Krug”

Yar is a very spiritual and well versed folk, and one of the best clans in my personal opinion.

CLAN LUR:

The famous Lur orcs and the Lur wolves. Clan Lur is, again, in my personal experience, one hell of a clan. They are hunters, and they embody such hunt.

Wargoth Falum’Lur (Shamanistic)

The mighty orcs of Lur are hunters, and they only, primarily care about that: hunting. And, of course their clan.

Lurs are typically stealthy folk (even for Orcs) and they have an awesome story, that I recommend hunting down in the Forums and reading.

Clan Lur, for being hunters, have some of the best orcish bowmen. Not only that, but they have great shamans, such as Falum’Lur and Eath’Lur.

Clan Lur is the one clan I recommend for new people wanting a good clan with a mighty history.

Clan Lur has one of the mightiest mounts on all of the orcish society (Myrzym still stomp ‘em)...

The Lur Wolves, commonly mounted by these orcs, they are mighty, yet beautiful, striking creatures that make for great companions in hunt, and allies in war. Almost every single member of the Lur clan has a Lur wolf.

CLAN LAK:

Clan Lak. The orcs of the swamps and the praisers of Laklul, Spirit of Swamps. Like the Raguks, they have a distinguishing skin tone: Laks are normally dark blue or even bright blue.

One mythical figure of the Lak clan:

Shreck’Lak (Travista, old user I think)

The Laks are savages. Pure savages. Their endless devotion to Laklul and their fiercery in combat has made them a respectable clan ever since Athera. Wargoths of Lak are referred to as Swampgoths, and they are the most respected and honourable withing the clan.

The Laks have a very unique and cool mount, gifted to them by Laklul…

The Toalaks. Toalaks are oversized toads gifted by the Spirit of Swamps in reward for Lak’s endless devotion to them. They are brutish combatants and can prove to be valuable allies to any Lak orc.

Make An Orc Week!

It’s back, strong as ever! It’s ‘Make an Orc’ week once more! Last time, I tried encouraging players to make Ologs, but Ologs are too hard for new orc players, so this time, we’ll go about uruks and goblins.

Goblins & their RP.

Every player in LotC except a few mistake LotC goblins for WoW goblins: 3 feet tall green skinned creatures with advanced technologies, while in reality, LotC goblins are almost as tall as humans, can be from green to blue skinned and too have advanced technology compared to a normal uruk.

Goblins, while smaller and weaker than normal orcs, have higher intelligence, which makes them great inventors, tacticians, and even scholars. Goblins, unlike their urukish counterparts, have smaller tusks and they can speak normally with a few breaks in language here and there:
“Oh my friend, you are back!”

Goblin:

“Oh mi frend, lat am bak!”

A goblin will tend to avoid combat, unless he\she is sure it can win or if he\she is able to fight properly.

Uruks & their RP:

Uruks are brutes. It’s the best way to describe them. But many uruks, including some active, aren’t brutes like their appearance suggests. There are, of course, the warmongering orcs who’d love to slice your throat, but there are aswell scholarly, labouring and more intelectual focused orcs. The brutish aspect of the orcish race, due to their curse, and the hard tongue, due to the tusks, tends to scare many players from the rather friendly and teaching community that is the Orcs.

For the Blah, the orc’s language, it’s not hard to understand. You just need to know key words:

Lat - You

Mi - Me\I

Tik - Time

Waagh - War

Rex - Leader

Wargoth - Clan Leader

Gruk - Know.

The other words are normally brutish ways of speaking common (english):

“Oh my friend, you are back!”

Uruk:

“Ah mi frend, lat ahm back!”

Unlike the goblins, stated above this section, uruks have bigger tusks and it makes it harder for them to speak properly, though should the occasion come and a Uruk loses it’s tusks (It has happened, I roleplayed a tuskless orc, by the name of Orok’Raguk), the orc would speak normally, replacing ‘you’ and ‘I’ for lat and mi, like a normal orc would, but without the butchering of the rest of the sentence:

“Oh mi friend, lat are back.”

ORCS:

This is a section pointed to the already existing orcs\gobos\ologs. New players come and go from the orcs, and we are aiming to have them staying with us. For that, they are going to need guides, helpers of sorts. I call upon orcs from our community who’d like to help these new players by guiding them either OOC’ly or roleplaying with them.

The nation's culture is a mix of Mountain Dwarf with some added factors here and there. It’s loosely based off of Viking culture. While the Kingdom itself has existed in RP for maybe one month only, the idea of a Mountain Dwarf predominant Kingdom has been an RP idea for more than 2 years now, dating back to the Mountain Monarchy rebellion. Naturally, as we get more players of different groups, the culture is likely to change.

During the weekends around 12 PST before and after we have a decent chunk of guys. And during the normal days we have a decent group of guys on around 3 PST.

The Curse of Bloodlust that Iblees cast upon Krug and his children causes a perpetual form of thought often thinking about the thrill of battle where the Red Mist (blood) fills their vision. The curse works in a way that is similar to a person with an addiction for drugs. The more an Orc fights the more the curse provides a sensation, however eventually like a drug addict if an Orc continues down a path of combat and battle their bodies will become more resistant to the high of bloodlust. This means an orc that's susceptible will want to continue battling perpetually. It is simply a strength of will to maintain themselves but it is easier for some than others.

Due to this, the Bloodlust often splits the Orcs into 2 separate sections of a  combined group. There are those who try to resist the curse who often consist of the Shamans and their followers with aid and guidance of the Spirits. Which leaves us with those who must often embrace the curse as the shield and sword for the Orcish people which often consists of the Rex and his warriors. Both sects commonly have an intimidating presence whether it’s from great Orcish strength or their great magical abilities of communing with the Spirits.

The primary goal of becoming a nation with the Library is to get the additional perks that come with nation status to allow us to prosper as a RP hub more than we are currently. Right now land on the next map, placement, region size etc is all very much up in the air and being able to solidify ourselves as a nation for the next map would be a great boon. Also, the Library is being stretched thin on space for books. Already we're running out of room and our build  barely fit within a 150x150 region. If we're looking to build for the future come next map we're going to need a larger plot than that and owning a tile will allow this. At the end of the day the Library exists to provide not only a RP hub for all sorts of players but also an archive and display for as many books as we can for free. Having these additional perks will allow us to do these and more, we have a number of plans set in course for the Library such as building up our playerbase by making a city surrounding the Library. This will give players a place to live and RP with in a healthy (hopefully), peaceful and book loving city.

Oh and Thomas' thingy place that I don't know how to spell is going to be our book loving neighbor and he'll be bringing additional activity to our region as we're going to be... Sister nations I guess? Not sure what you'd call us but we're going to be working together throughout this.

Well if you count books as players we got a ****-load. However in the case that you don't we're looking at ~15-20 at most in any given time and our off hours (such as Aussie time) you're going to be looking at 5 at most, likely 1-2 at most on a consistent basis. Unsure of the numbers once Thomas gets his place setup but it'll boost the numbers by at least 1-2, probably more, on a consistent basis.

     Veris -- A group of individuals whom of which initially sought to remove themselves from the destructive relationship between high elves and humans, evolving into a safe haven for those who seek the same. The country revolves primarily on progression and expression of the soul through art and music as well as social life and gatherings. They accept lifestyles that aren't harmful to one another while maintaining harmony between diversity. Unlike other 'free' nations, Veris doesn't depend on exporting trade, however the social interior events which gather mina and support, such as festivals, parades, brawls, and other contests which encounter the people of Veris regularly.

     Our goal is to be more inclusive towards others while allowing ourselves some distance from other nations with hostile intentions. A sub-fielded goal is to control the mineral import-export market, working our way towards the lumber market as well-- both are necessities for other nations. Another goal we possess is in regards to the magical portion of the server. With a variety of other factions either disallowing or discouraging magic, we want to infuse Veris into a safehaven, not only for those who seek to avoid oppressors, but for others who enjoy functioning as a persona which they intended.

     We have 62 members interested. 42 in the skype chat with 20 who either do not use skype or have not been added to the chats yet. With that, I would say we are strictly 35 active, simply to be generous. Veris has been around for about 8 months, however a few weeks before we were going to apply for nationhood, I fell terribly ill and had to remove myself from LotC. The leadership failed and we are currently building back up again. With this aside, Veris is currently in Limited Creative Mode... however with being within 6 days of finishing our city, we hope to prove our numbers with our 1 month trial. If needed, we can add you to the group chat to see the... spam... oh the continuous spam of players... On a more serious note, we have many smaller groups, consisting of our population. We will more than likely hit beginning peak hours with 30+ people, dead hours being anywhere from 7-15 (Within our first month)

The name is The Jarldom of Mjol and the culture was Norlandic, but is becoming it’s own new culture since the rest of Norland vanished. There have been two religions, a monotheistic religion called All-Fatherism before and we are currently shifting to a polytheistic religion surrounding an afterlife in Jiorhall. The town has existed for roughly 5 months.

To allow for more players to join as easily as possible and become more a notable, viking inspired, trade settlement.  We cannot get our own cart to the human fast travel hub in our current state and it is hindering our recruiting abilities.

There are currently 20 members of the town with various people that visit to roleplay. About 15 people are active players though through various personas. You would typically find 3-5 people on in town. During the dead hours you may find 0-2 people on in town. (players may be on but visiting different towns in peak and average). The plans with using nation status are mostly on an out of character level, and what is in character will not exactly refer to the ‘nation’ as one. The use of having a green soul stone pillar is useful due to our numbers, and a sub-forum is incredibly helpful to store all information that is needed in one easy place rather than spam the forums in separate places. Otherwise it’s roleplay as usual, and our in character motivations will remain the same, which is to continue our order. As well as with the extra amount of land, we wish to consolidate fae’s and other natural creatures into an area (bryophites, sprites, dryads, ents, etc) and have a base where they may always find active roleplay, of course not forcing them to stay there and not elsewhere.

We have about 30 mellsburry Halflings, but there is also the other town which come rp here and us there and we do expect to merge one day . And we also are getting a group to server as guards which we will give a plot (should be around( 6-7 people ) During peak hour we have never passed 14 people in the Town itself but we do have some of us somewhere on the map(weekends/Specificaly Sunday we have the highest numbers)  During dead Hours like any town you can find no one or maybe 1-3. Usually there is at least 1 person in town at all times (expect night). You can expect to see to see on a normal day 6 people maybe mostly on EST hours or late GMT you can find 10+ people

Goals are to expand the Kingdom of Norland and to secure the borders. Norlanders desire to convert other humans to Allfatherism and ensure that undead and various heretical magics are wiped out. We are also trying to pursue an event line in the catacombs under the Krag wherein we fight and interact with reincarnated / corrupted corpses of Norlandic dead.

Capital has a steady constant of 5 - 10 with peak hours rallying 20 whenever we do a catacomb event / mead hall event / raid. The Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska (also known as the Kingdom of Haense) centralizes on a Northern culture of humanity, most notably those of the Highlander race and its various branches. Haense as a kingdom (within the former Orenian Empire) has existed since September of 2016. It gained its independence from Oren in January 2017, following the Empire’s defeat at the battle of Goldhands. However, the general player-base that comprises the majority of this nation’s population has been together for about a year and a half (approximately 78 weeks).

The Kingdom is geographically based on the northern region of the Isle of Tahn. The capital region is named Orensettlement2. The titles that the Kingdom currently occupies are a24, a26, and a27.

The tiles that the Kingdom owns were bought by cruzazul8 during his tenure as Holy Orenian Emperor. They were then given to the Kingdom through RP. As such, there are no land charters that pertain to the Kingdom.

The goal as a nation is to remain an isolationist polity, in that its goal is to protect its sovereignty. Haense also aims to be the home to all Highlander people, as was the plan of its founders. The kingdom shall also be ever fixated on the notion of expansion northward to continue fostering the constituencies it harbors and focus on the internal development of its roads, settlements, and landscape. In terms of its foreign policy agenda, Haense does not intend for war or conflict; it aims for the preservation of peace with its neighbors and mutual partnership on intercontinental issues, though will not shy away from defense of its borders and colonization of untouched lands.

In terms of activity, the capital itself has a range of people of 10 to 20 people on its peak days. During the slow days, the capital tends to have around 3 to 5. During weekends, we aim to hold events to bring our player-base together such as mayoral elections, convening court of all the citizens with the Head of State. There are events that occur within the various areas where the vassalage settle. Population wise, we have a good 40-50 people total within the actual Kingdom, many of whom play their own part with their own Houses and groups in the Kingdom.

Being the rightful heir to the now defunct Kingdom of Vandoria, Leopold Francis Horen (Zhulik) began to spread the Vander ideology and culture to those under him. Today, the different cultures that reside in The Kingdom of the Westerlands includes Kaedreni, Waldenian and Imperials who have escaped the destruction of Johannesburg.

As a nation, our main goal is to defend the realm of Axios from the Sunless Sanctum and the necrotic beings that dwell within. While warclaiming the undead spawn is out of the question, it’s more so the “ultimate goal” and should an antagonist be introduced we would happily interact with them in role play. Other than this, The Kingdom of the Westerlands seeks to be free from the troubles of the East and to abstain from human politics since the fall of the Orenian Empire. We were released of our vows in role play by Emperor Philip Frederick, son of John Owyn (who gave our characters the task of fighting the undead after receiving a vision of the undead/forces of Mordring wreaking havoc in Axios).

One of the more secret goals of those in authority in the Kingdom of the Westerlands is the search for a relic called “The Well of Life” (which has been submitted for Kai’s lore competition back in early January). Even if this is not implemented as accepted lore, it is something that we will role play out searching for even if it does not actually exist (the lore on this can be shared if requested).

With our current small fort, activity varies and we’ve had events with our soldiers with up to 15 + players role playing actively. Typically during peak hours with our military alone you might find 10 people role playing (note most of our members are busy writing documents for role play posts or building on the server so I cannot give a truly accurate numbers). During dead hours, or as we call them - “Real [explicit] hours”, it varies and sometimes we have quite a few folks role playing late at night usually our adult playerbase that gets home from work late (10-11 PsT). All these numbers should increase once we implement our capital city with LC as there will be less focus on the OOC set up. (Friendly reminder that we host this activity in a military fort and not an actual town)
