Dear Invited and friends of Courland,

The Gent Family is pleased to announce the first tournament of Courland. To celebrate this event, the Count of Gent personally invites not only the aforementioned, but also the population of Arcas. The tournament will use the Loser’s Bracket model of elimination. There shall be fights, with each bearing three rounds.

 Each round must be fought out using nothing but fists. No weapons of any kind shall be permitted. (one PVP, one CRP and a coin toss on the last round). Killing will neither be permitted nor tolerated; it shall be a simple fight of honour, not ending in any permanent injuries for any participant.

 The initial prize for the victor shall be 1000 minae, paid in cash. As well as one of the finest Gent Family Wines and a special offer which shall be presented . The Count shall be pleased to welcome those in attendance and participating in the first tournament of Courland.

The Marriage of William Jameson V & Eleanora Harkness

“Eleanora, my dear- may I ask you something?”

A rough, deep-sounding voice asked.

It was a pleasant day in Courland. The sun was high in the sky, its brilliance gracing the mortals below it with light. A couple sat on a grassy plain, looking up at the clouds with wonder and delight. Childish chuckles and back-and-forth banter filled the air: a woman, laden in a heavy dress, lined with furs, and a man, bearing a knight’s armor, were enjoying the cold weather and watching the sun set, not far from the city in which they lived. 

“Of course, my amore!” 

A femine voice chirped back. 

“Hrm…” William paused. “Would you mind helping me get up, first?”

Eleanora nodded and shuffled towards him, helping him rise onto two feet- just for him to carefully bend down onto one knee.

“I appreciate that, my love,” He smiled as he got down on one knee. “Remember our visit to the tavern, after we met?”

“Like it was yesterday,” the woman chuckled, glancing up to the sky.

Eleanora and William sat across from each other at a table, talking, the drunken chatter of bar goers and the quiet giggling of flirting sots loud around them. Their conversation went on and on- both seeming to never run out of things to be in awe of, nor to playfully gawk at.

“I’m glad you want to become a doctor,” the man smiled up towards her. “I wouldn’t want you to be hurt. You’re much too important, Eleanora.”

“Ah?” she tipped her head, her cheeks reddening.
“If there is no medic, there is no army. Without one, men would simply fall and die on the battlefield. What leads a kingdom is its ruler, of course- but, also those skilled enough to heal to rejuvenate those who fall ill within the city.”

“Oh, I suppose I misunderstood,” Eleanora grinned. “Indeed, they are important.”

“You say you misunderstood me, what did you think I meant?” He questioned her further.

The woman seemed stumped at first- or, rather, perhaps too sheepish to talk. “Nothing- I might just have a hearing problem of sorts,” she finally answered with a nervous laugh. 

“Perhaps I meant, you are too important for me to lose.”

“Perhaps,” she echoed, gazing at him in wonder.

“I truly did mean what I said,” William smiled. “Eleanora, ever since I met you that fateful day, my life has been changed. I strive for more in life now than Mina and fame.”

Eleanora was gazing at him in the same surprised, flustered way as she had in the tavern. She opened her mouth to speak, but nothing came out. 

“With one twist of fate, we met at Cloud Temple, and, only God knows why you took the offer to come with me to Courland to take a peek at the city. I can’t help but think… that it was on purpose. I’ll stop beating around the bush, now,” the man chuckled.

“Eleanora, I want to be by your side for as long as I live- I want to make you a queen, and, my bride.”

“Will you marry me?”

A silence filled the air for a moment- and then, suddenly, Eleanora leaped up to her feet and wrapped him into a tight embrace.

“Of course I will!”

A marriage between Eleanora Harkness, of House Harkness, and William Jameson V, of House Jameson, will take place on the first week of The Grand Harvest, 1764, at Courland, inside the Cathedral of St. Emma!
