SÖHNE UND TÖCHTER VON MINITZ,

Since our Princely Court three saint days prior, there have been some announcements of the changes that were to be made in the days to come. As many have heard, citizens of Minitz had either been promoted or the new advancements the city would become. This court summary will briefly go through what the Grand Prince had summoned us all for hearing, for those who have missed out on this important meeting and for those to review back on what had been said. 

Court Summary
 

As the court commenced, Sir Yvian Galken of the Order of Saint Tylos stepped down from his position as Herreinmeister, of which he’d served for nearly 30 years with utmost dedication, finding only wavering in his aging body rather than in mind, and welcomed Sir Peter Stroheim as his successor to take his place as the new Herrenmeister, and join the ranks of Minitz’s Herrenhaus. 

Following this, the Grand Prince of Minitz offered ennoblement titles to the servants of Minitz who have been there through strife and disaster, for years upon years of unwavering loyalty. To his Lawspeaker, Theign Robert von Stroheim, the Grand Prince of Minitz bequeathed unto the veteran Knight the title of Baron of Lankenkirch. Ser Robert kneeled before his Prince and swore his oaths of fealty to the Ruler of Minitz and to the continued prosperity of his Grand Principality, thus the offer becoming ratified. For his Herald of many years, Eloisee Veiel, the same offer was granted to her; an offer of ennoblement to become the Baroness of Fernweh, though with her absence the offer will be officiated upon her swearing of oaths to the Grand Prince.

 The third-born son of Grand Prince Brandt, Ferdinand Barclay, was officially recognized before the Court as the new heir of the Grand Principality of Minitz. The young Barclay’s heirship was accompanied with the title of Baron of Hussen being passed down onto him to honor this recognition.

Many moons ago, a pact between Reinmar and Minitz was signed by the then representatives, Wilheim II Barclay and Leon Barclay, respectively, forming The Alderpakt of 1902. In the Court of 1935, Manfred and Brandt Barclay both stood as current representatives of Reinmar and Minitz to sign it themselves and strengthen this pact, rendering it The Alderpakt of 1935, and in doing so, renewing their pledges of allegiance among one another’s homes.

 As the court was coming to a close, the Lawspeaker made one final announcement on the results of the Landtag elections for the new Mayor and Lawmen of Minitz. The results revealed that John O’Riley and Peter Stroheim will serve as the Lawmen of Minitz. The results, also, concluded that Wenzel Rovin will be made the new Mayor of Kanunsburg, to serve it diligently during his tenure.

Harken, noble subjects, for it has been a score of years since our last gathering at the Princely Court, where we convened to deliberate upon matters that beset our realm, particularly those pertaining to the Franks who dwell upon the mountains of the periphery of our fair city. For many moons, we have clashed and valiantly defended our beloved city's honor against the relentless Franks, and alas, we have mourned the passing of dear comrades, their lives given in the throes of this struggle. And now, the winds of fate have shifted, ushering unforeseen changes upon our humble abode, impacting us all profoundly.

Thus, it is with great urgency and heraldic summons that I call upon each and every burgher and tribesman to assemble within the walls of the Kanunsburg Palace for the Princely Court of 1935 at the behest of our esteemed Grand Prince, Brandt Wilheim Barclay, who seeks to impart tidings of what lies ahead in the days to come.

Oath of Macken and the Adlerpakt

The Dukes of Reinmar and the Princes of Minitz shall embark to solidify the union of House Barclay once again through signing the treaty that their forefathers had once signed, the Adlerpakt, enshrining the unity of the House of Barclay in perpetuity in cooperation, friendship and the pledge to upkeep Reinmaren values. 

To hallmark this occasion, the Duke of Reinmar, Manfred Barclay, and the Prince of Minitz, Brandt Barclay shall take the ancestral oath of Macken to anoint themselves as the Chieftains of the Reinmaren, and to serve their subjects and people to the last of their ability.

Retirement of the Herrenmeister

Sir Yvian Ritter Galken, Herrenmeister 1906-1935

Ser Yvian, the venerable Herrenmeister, known to us for many years, has come to a solemn decision to lay down his mantle as the esteemed leader of our noble order, the Ritter of Saint Tylos. Throughout the annals of time, his unwavering loyalty and steadfast service have illuminated the path of chivalry and honor.

As he ventures forth into the realm of retirement, Ser Yvian shall entrust the sacred charge of preparing our valiant Ritters for the defense of our city walls and the ardor of battle to another worthy soul. In the presence of the courtly assembly, we shall bear witness to the passing of this esteemed duty and authority.

Appointment of New Herrenmeister
 

As our esteemed Herrenmeister, Ser Yvian, bids farewell to his station, a new paragon of knighthood rises to take his place. Ser Peter shall ascend to this esteemed role, whose devotion, toil, and unwavering rectitude exemplify the very essence of a true ritter of Saint Tylos,

The Grand Prince has seen fit to anoint Ser Peter Stroheim for his exemplary labors and thus shall wield authority as a law enforcer alongside the venerable Lord Bailiff. To him is entrusted the power to mete out judgments according to the sacred Kanun, especially for matters of lesser transgressions.

In this hour, we shall pay homage to Ser Yvian for the years he hath served us well, and welcome Ser Peter with fervent applause and utmost trust. May he bear his newfound responsibilities with honor and grace, and may the divine grace of Saint Tylos guide his path as he treads the noble way of the Herrenmeister.

Ennoblements  

It has come to the attention of the Herrenhaus that a multitude of subjects and tribes, steadfast in their loyalty and unwavering in their services to our land of Minitz and its subjects, deserve rightful recognition. As such, a grand convocation shall be summoned forth, wherein those deemed worthy shall be graced with the honor of ennoblement, and the investiture of their rightful titles shall be bestowed upon them.

Let this noble assembly bear witness to the investiture of these souls, as they ascend the ranks of nobility and embark on a new journey of service and eminence under the aegis of our Grand Prince and the auspices of Minitz.

Investiture of the Baron of Hussen, Ferdinand Alexander
 

In the halls of Kanunsberg, the Grand Prince, in his proclamation, shall invest his chosen heir and third born son, Ferdinand Alexander, as the Baron of Hussen to inherit the mantle of rule. His duty is to preside over the realm and safeguard its legacy during the time of succession in recognition of his birthright and the esteemed virtue he possesses.

Since their exposure to the feudal ways and customs, the Reinmaren people have always shown fascination with one feudal art amongst others, that being Heraldry. Beginning as an unofficial tradition amongst certain members of House Barclay back in its inception in the 1720s, a good few Reinmaren Wappenmeisters have emerged through the centuries. Amongst these, Venerated Anton, Albrecht Barclay, and Herzog Leon Barclay have been the most prominent.

As Herzog of Minitz, it was Leon Barclay’s ambition to foster a Heraldic culture amongst his populace, to embrace the display of glory, tradition, and history through art, shields and banners, as our tribal forefathers were believed to have done many eons past.

It is in this day and age that time has finally come for such centuries of tradition and mastery of the Heraldic arts amongst the Reinmaren people to not only be officialized, but institutionalized. Thusly, it is by the blessing of Herzog Brandt ‘the Bosnan’ Barclay, and the work and leadership of Ludrik Katzak as first Lord of Arms that the Band of Banners be founded.

To document, produce, grant and display arms and record the genealogies of our forefathers, to embrace the traditions of our ancestors and to expand upon their work, such is the mission of the Band.

As its Motto professes: THROUGH SERVICE, HONOUR.

BAND HIERARCHY

THE DUCAL HERALD (HONORARY) - The Ducal Herald of Minitz, as member of his Grace’s Herrenhaus and primary bearer of the Herzog’s arms is positioned as the Symbolical Head of the Band of Arms. With their presence they now not only represent the Herzog himself, but also the Band as a whole. They don the arms and carry the banners granted by the Band, but hold no authority to grant such. Furthermore, the Ducal Herald acts as the Band’s representative within the Herrenhaus. Currently held by Eloisee von Minitz (IGN: Aimy_lol; Disc: ♡ Aimy_lol ♡#7910) @Aimy_lol

THE LORD OF ARMS - The more senior of the Lords of the Band, the Lord of Arms acts as its de facto head. Their say in the decisions and work of the Band is final, and their approval mandatory in matters of granting of both arms and banners. The Lord of Arms focuses on the designing and granting of all arms relating to the feudal, noble, and knightly institutions of the Duchy, as well as recruitment and leadership of the band as a whole. THE LORD OF BANNERS - Whilst the work of the Lord of Arms focuses on the feudal institutions of the realm, the Lord of Banners, also termed ‘the Bannerlord’, is in charge of designing and granting of all banners within the realm. Such include the banners donned by the tribes of Minitz, the Standards of War raised by either Theoderic’s Warband or the Order of Saint Tylos, etc. As junior lord of the Band. Currently held by Sir Maxell ad Landren (IGN: boarlord; Disc: boar#5647) @Lord of Boars

THE KEEPER OF GENEALOGY - Mainly invested in purposes of genealogical record keeping, the Keeper of Genealogy also acts as the Band’s head of archival research and overseer of the integrity and credibility of all arms and banners produced and proposed. Currently Vacant

AUTHORITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

DESIGN AND GRANT OF ARMS AND BANNERS

Amongst the main purposes of the Band, the Lords of Arms and Banners specialize in the very designing of these, alongside holding the power to officially grant both arms and banners. Whilst many may ask for the granting of arms or banners, it is only those who complete a set of requirements that may be worthy and eligible to hold such. This privilege is mostly reserved for the Noble Tribesmen of the realm, including chieftains, the nobility and the Ducal house of Barclay, and lastly the Ritter of Minitz. It is, however, possible for a servant of the realm who has shown great dedication and assistance to the Duchy, but does not fill the above roles, to be granted arms or banners of their own.

DISPLAY OF ARMS AND BANNERS

Mainly fulfilled by the Ducal Herald, the display of arms and banners from the Herald is only reserved for the arms of the Ducal House of Barclay, and of the Herzog whom the Herald serves. They carry these arms in their attire, and blow on the Herald’s horn to signify the coming of the Herzog. It is the aim of the Band to expand upon these displays of arms, to include the display of Banners and Standards of War.

RECORDKEEPING OF GENEALOGY

Mainly upheld by the Keeper of Genealogy, the studies of the tracing of one’s descendants becomes paramount when dealing with the distribution, granting, and proper attribution of heraldic arms or banners. Whilst any tribesman or tribeswoman may ask for the services of the Band to trace their genealogies, it is mainly for the lords and chieftains that the Keeper conducts research.

STANDARDIZATION AND UPKEEP OF HERALDIC SYSTEMS

Alongside the making and utilizing of both arms and banners, it is the duty of the Band to standardize the Heraldic practices within the Duchy of Minitz. Thusly, they are in charge, with the blessing of the Herzog, to officiate documents detailing the Heraldic rules, such as the Cadency system, the Minitzian Blazonry, the requirements for the granting of arms, etc.

THE WAPPENROLLE OF THE BAND OF BROTHERS

The following are the arms and banners used by the Band of Banners, be it her officers, chiefs, or the associated attributed arms:

THE ARMS OF THE LORD OF ARMS

Quarterly, Gules a cross Argent; 1st and 4th quarter a swan proper, 2nd and 3rd five cross crosslets Or; For a crest, a feather argent.

The main charge used to symbolize the Band is the swan proper (colored in its natural tints). Representing grace, beauty, and purity, it is through this avian that the ideals and purpose of the Band is best displayed. Quartered by an argent (white) cross, the other two quarters are filled by five cross crosslets. The cross crosslet in itself is made out of four crosses, brought together to form the fifth cross between them. Thus, the 2nd and 3rd quarter have a total of 25 crosses each, symbolizing the 25 years passed between the founding of the Harvest Confederation during Duke Leon’s reign in 1889, and the first Duke’s abdication in 1914. The white feather issued from the chief represents the feather of a quill, a symbol of artists and painters, which becomes standard throughout the arms and banners of the Band.

THE BANNER OF THE LORD OF BANNERS

A Banner Azure, a man Carnation to sinister clothed Vert, crined Or, crowned a Tribal Cap, in the dexter hand a spear proper flagged Vert, in the sinister a feathered quill Argent.

Featuring the figure of a Reinmaren tribesmen clothed in the colors of his fatherland, the Bannerlord’s Banner shows to represent the tribal prowess. The held spear, also bannered, represents the Bannerlord himself, meanwhile the tribal cap he adorns represents the Chief of Reinmaren, as it has been used through the centuries before by Reinmaren heralds. Wearing naught to protect his feet, the lack of footwear represents the humble life of Reinmaren tribesmen, displaying the egalitarian ideal of our people proudly, for the farmer is, ultimately, equal to the lord. On his left hand, the tribesman holds a feathered quill, one again signifying artistry of the Lord of Banners, and of the Band as a whole.

THE ARMS OF THE KEEPER OF GENEALOGY

Or, a book Vert charged an oak tree Sable surmounted by a quill Argent issuant from the dexter base.

A rather self-explanatory amongst the arms of the Band, the Keeper, as holder of the Tome of Genealogy, has this displayed on his own arms. The green color of the book refers to the Reinmaren colors, with the branched oak tree used for its common symbolism for family trees. Once again, the feathered quill appears in the Keeper’s arms, issuant from the dexter base, touching the tree. 

THE ATTRIBUTED BANNERS OF THEODERIC AND GELIMAR

Two banners crossed, the dexter Vert, a Horse Salient Argent, the sinister Azure, an Eagle displayed Sable, Armed Or.

Whilst historical records mention the usage of banners by the olden tribes of the Reinmaren, the exact designs have been lost to time. It is, however, a widely accepted theory that of the main tribes of Gelimar and Theodrik, the eagle and the stallion were used. Thedoeric’s men were said to have been superior horsemen, and found the argent stallions more noble and bringers of better omens. As such, it is theorized that after the beginning of his rebelion against Chieftain Gelimar, the young Theoderic adopted the sigil of the white stallion as his mare. Thus, it is through these historical records that the Band grants the Attributed Banner of Banner Vert, a Horse Salient Argent to Chieftain Theoderic, this be a banner granted post-mortem.

Gelimar, on the other hand, seen as the more senior of the Chieftains, was associated with the Waldenic eagle, with whom the Reinmaren people shared common forefathers. It is thus that the Chieftain Gelimar is granted the Attributed Banner of Banner Azure, an Eagle displayed Sable, Armed Or.

THE GREATER COAT OF ARMS OF THE BAND OF BANNERS

Quarterly, Gules a cross Argent; 1st and 4th quarter a swan Argent armed Or, 2nd and 3rd quarter five cross crosslets Or; For a crest, three feathers argent, issuant from the chief two banners, the Dexter Vert, a Horse Salient Argent, the Sinister Azure, the sinister an Eagle displayed Sable, Armed Or; on the dexter a man Carnation to sinister clothed Azure, crined Sable, in the dexter hand a book Vert charged with an oak tree Sable crowned a Tribal Cap, on the sinister a man Carnation to dexter clothed Vert, crined Or, holding a spear proper flagged Azure, crowned a Tribal Cap. For a Motto: "Durch Dienst", Ehre; meaning "Through Service, Honour"

A combination of the entirety of the arms and banners above mentioned, the Greater Arms of the Band of Brothers symbolizes the unification of all offices within it, as well as the very forefathers of the Reinmaren people. As the most senior of the Lords, the Arms of the Lord of Arms is displayed as the main escutcheon, supported by the Bannerlord’s tribesman to the right, and another tribesman of opposing features to the left, holding the Tome of Genealogy. The crest, composed of three feathers, includes the main feather used by the Lord of Arm’s Coat of Arms, coupled with those of the other two offices. Finally, the Banners of Theoderic and Gelimar remain issuant from the base of the escutcheon, signifying the origins of the Reinmaren people, and their importance to the Heraldic traditions to follow.

RECORDS AND COLLECTIONS

Such are the records and collections held by the Band of Banners as per its founding in the Year of our Lord, 1916:

BARCLAYS WAPPENROLLE: The first official Roll of Arms recorded by a Reinmaren and Barclay Wappenmeister. The Armorial is a collection of most heraldric achievements of members of House Barclay until the Year of our Lord, 1789. Authored by Venerated Anton Barclay.

MINITZISCHE WAPPENROLLE- VOLUMEN I: One of the two main heraldic collections designed and granted by the first Herzog of Minitz, Leon Barclay, the publishing of the first Minitzian armorial was the beginning of a more consistent, organized Minitzian Heraldic tradition. The original copy is held within the Band’s Archives. Authored by Leon Herzog Barclay von Minitz in the Year of our Lord: 1914, a few days before the Herzog’s death. 

THE BALIANITE ROLL OF ARMS: The second of Herzog Leon’s works, the first Balianite Roll of Arms was designed and granted after the shared agreement of mutual respect and friendship was established between the Duchy of Minitz and the Kingdom of Balian. Such occurred after the publishing of “REINMARIA’S BLOOD PRICE”, in which many Canonsit princes joined the Barclay-led cause against Antonius and Gwendel Vilac, who were found to have murdered Lord Teft Barclay. After Balian’s agreement, Herzog Leon offered to design Balian its missing armorial, and so delivered later in the Year of our Lord 1914.

COMMISSIONS AND PRIVATE WORK

Aside from its duties within the Duchy, the Band of Banners also works on an international scale through commissions. Such commissions, however, are purely based on artistic work, rather than official actions such as grant of arms, banners, etc. The members of the Band who accept such commissions keep a portion of the earnings as their personal payment, whilst the rest of the amount is donated to the Herzog’s coffers.

Those who wish to employ the services of the Band may do so for the following:

• Designing of Achievements, being:

  • Escutcheon (the Heraldic shield)

  • Coat of Arms (including crests, mottos, etc.)

  • Banners and Standards of War

• Heraldic Decorational Elements (Such as the page dividers of this document)

• Producing of Genealogical Records

• Writing of Blazons (Descriptions for Coats of Arms)

RECRUITMENT AND APPRENTICESHIP

Alongside maintaining the Heraldic traditions of the realm, the offices of the Band also work to pass down their craft and traditions, apprenticing those who wish to learn more on the art of Heraldry, Genealogy, Blazonry, etc.

Thusly, those who wish to one day join one of the offices of the Band may do so by apprenticing under one of the current holders, gaining the title “APPRENTICE AT ARMS”. It is mostly those who have taken the Ritual of Blood and become Reinmaren tribesmen of Minitz who are usually accepted as such, for the Band’s main function is to serve the Fatherland.

Us sons and daughters of Reinmar have always been a peoples of joy, of celebration, of drinking and of singing. Few night within our Herzogtum are spent without a filled tavern, for it is the mutual sharing of joy that connects people.

Yet, amongst the many positions of Minitz, none have been delegated to oversee the specific organization of festive events, of new ways to celebrate life and peace, for our people to relax from their work and their farms. Of all the populace in our realm, it is thus that the Herzog does recognize one subject more capable than most to carry such a task, Lady Mayrin Evergreen. As such, she is to be appointed as the head of the planning and execution of events within the realm, thus donning the title of the Lady Reveler

Thus, it is by the Decree of the Duke that:

MAYRIN EVERGREEN BE ELEVATED AS THE LADY REVELER OF THE DUKE'S COURT, TO OVERSEE THE ORGANIZATION AND PLANNING OF FESTIVITIES AND EVENTS FOR THE WHOLE POPULATION OF THE REALM..

THE DUCAL COUNCIL OF MINITZ

As the numbers, prestige, and positions of Minitz have seen growth, so too has the requirement of an officially structured government to oversee the due processes within our realm. Much work it has required, but finally, GOTT has blessed us for our labors.

It is thus that by the Edict of Herzog Leon Barclay, Duke of Minitz, THE HERZOGRAT OF MINITZ be officially formed, and act as the Ducal Government of the realm.

Three branches shall compose the new Herzograt of our realm:

• THE HERRENHAUS: to act as the Duke’s most trusted council, to lead the realm through their duties and authorities

• THE LANDTAG: to act as the second council of the realm, composed of all Reinmaren tribesmen of Minitz, who shall have say in the Moots of Minitz and in its legislation.

• THE MAYOR’S OFFICE: to act as the representative of the Burghers of the realm, the non-Reinmaren residents who fill the walls of Neu Brandthof.

May GOTT light our path to a better future, and to our Herzograt’s prosperity and efficiency.

THE DUCAL HERRENHAUS

As the most paramount council of the realm, the Herrenhaus is composed of the Herzog’s most trusted advisors in Ducal matters. As the positions of tribal roots, the Lawspeaker and Warchief of the Herrenhaus are elected from among the eligible tribesmen of the realm, whilst the rest of the positions are designated directly by the edict of the Herzog.

Each member of the Herrenhaus enjoys their respective duty and authority over their own domain, only bested by the Herzog and the relevant due processes, and shall be bestowed the honorifics “His/Her Excellency”.

Each member of the Herrenhaus shall hold their respective Ehrensache, or “Item of Honor”, a ceremonial item that shall symbolize the power and authority of the Herren of the Herrenhaus. They shall be obligated to both upkeep, protect, and display their Ehrensache during official events, thus representing their seat as members of the Duke’s Herrenhaus.

Additionally, each office of the Herrenhaus shall uphold its own Heraldry, to represent the office as a whole, and be integrated into the Herren’s own Heraldry if applicable.

Thus are the positions, duties and authorities of the Herzog’s Herrenhaus

THE HERZOG OF MINITZ

The highest authority of the Herzogtum, the Herzog is the Lord of Minitz. It is he who holds ownership of the land, oversees the prosperity of the realm, and has final say in all matters within Minitz. The duties of the Herzog extend to all of the domains of the Herrenhaus and more. It is the duty of the Herzog to delegate and oversee the work and responsibilities of his Herren, to attend relevant Moots, to partake in the oathing of the new Reinmaren tribesmen of the realm, etc.

The only time when the Herzog’s ultimate authority falls short is in matters of the election and deposition of the tribal rooted positions of the Herrenhaus, namely that of the Warchief and Lawspeaker. In such matters, the powers of the Herzog are outlined as follows:

• He shall hold TWO votes in the elections of the Lawspeaker, and is able to nominate up to THREE Reinmaren Tribesmen for the position during elections.

• He shall enjoy the privilege to call for the re-election of the Warchief once every five years, during which he holds a SINGLE vote in the election of this position alongside the rest of the Warriors of the Warband.

• He shall enjoy the privilege to call for the re-election of a Lawspeaker after the absence of the current one for more than five years.

• He shall enjoy the sole privilege to offer final approval for any addition or edict to the Kanun after a vote from the Landtag during a Moot.

• He shall enjoy the sole privilege to pass law without the voting from the Landtag. Such must be done with the joint approval of the Lawspeaker. 

The Herzog’s Ehrensache shall be the Herzogliche Krone (Common: The Ducal Crown), a testament of his authority as Lord of Minitz, and a peer of the United Kingdom of Aaun.

THEODERIC’S WARCHIEF

Elected from the high ranking persons of Minitz, the Theoderic’s Warchief is the highest authority within the Warband. They oversee the leading of the band as a whole, and to have a say on matters of militia and war within the Herrenhaus. Within the Warband, the Warchief’s say is final, and the promotions through the ranks are dictated by them. Similarly, they oversee the recruitment and training of not only Warriors, but the ranks of leadership.

During the inception of Minitz, the position of the Warchief could have been held by any tribesman, for the times of war required it so. As peace settled around the lands of Minitz and Theoderic’s Warband reformed, so too is the list of those eligible to be nominated as the Warchief, currently including the following:

• The members of House Barclay von Minitz of adult age.

• The Chieftains of the Tribes of Minitz.

• The Hochgeehrtes of Minitz.

• The Speermanns and Hauptmanns of the Warband.

All Warriors of Theoderic’s Warband, including the Herzog and Lawspeaker shall have equal vote during the election of the Warchief.

Thus are the powers of the Warchief in matters of the election of the Lawspeaker:

• He shall hold TWO votes in Lawspeaker elections, but may not nominate people for the position.

• He shall hold the privilege to call for the re-election of a Lawspeaker after the absence of the current one for more than five years.

The Ehrensache of the Warchief shall be Der Speer von Theodrik (Common: The Spear of Theoderic), a testament of his authority over the Warriors of Minitz and their Warband.

THE LAWSPEAKER OF THE KANUN

Acting as the personification of the Grand Kanun of Minitz, the Lawspeaker is the highest authority in matters of interpreting the Kanun and delivering its judgment, in such, their word is final, lest the matter is a pardoning by the Herzog themselves, as outlined in the SECOND book of the Kanun. Aside from the Herzog, they are the only authority that may call forth a Mot of Minitz, where matters of law may be discussed and elected from the tribesmen of Minitz. Whilst the Lawspeaker is not obligated to execute the punishments he delivers, for such is the primary authority of the Bailiff, they do hold power to do so.

The Lawspeaker is elected from amongst all tribesmen of Minitz, such are their powers in official tribal matters:

• He shall enjoy the privilege to nominate TWO individuals for the Lawspeaker elections after their own term, but he shall hol NO vote during such election. These nominations can change throughout the current Lawspeaker’s tenure.

• He shall hold a SINGLE vote in the election of the Warchief.

• He shall enjoy the privilege to call for the re-election of a Warchief after the absence of the current one for more than five years.

The Ehrensache of the Lawspeaker shall be Der Große Kanun von Minitz (Common: The Grand Kanun of Minitz), a testament of his authority over matters of law and his role as the speaker of the Kanun

THE HERRENMEISTER OF SAINT TYLOS

Acting as the Ritter-Kommandant of the Order of Saint Tylos the Stallion of Reinmar, the Herrenmeister shall be the second highest authority of the Order aside the Herzog, who shall always stand as its Grandmaster. The Herremeister shall look over the recruiting, training, and finally knighting of new squires, to delegate them to their respective Ritter. They shall be charged with the commanding of the Ritter forces in battle.

The Herrenmeister of the Order shall be chosen directly from the Herzog from amongst the Ritter of the realm, and shall be given stay within the Herzog’s Castle, further acting as his primary bodyguard.

The Ritter of Minitz shall also act as its law enforcers, done so alongside the Lord Bailiff, and pass down the judgment of the Kanun for the minor wrongdoings. The Herrenmeister shall thus also be given the authority to pass the judgment of the Kanun in the absence of the Bailiff, Lawspeaker, or Herzog.

The Ehrensache of the Herrenmeister shall be Das Schwert des Heiligen Tylos (Common: The Sword of Saint Tylos), a testament of his authority over the Ritter of Minitz, and a figure of honor and strength.

THE BAILIFF OF MINITZ

The role of the Bailiff of Minitz is twofold; first as the main enforcer of the law, and secondly as the head steward of the realm. The Bailiff shall hold the power to command the Ritter of Saint Tylos, and with their help bring forth the judgements of the Lawspeaker. Furthermore, as scholars of the Kanun, the Bailiff is granted authority to interpret it, and, in the absence of the Lawspeaker or Herzog, may pass down judgment.

As the head steward of the realm, the Bailiff shall furthermore be in charge of upkeep the steward ledgers, to upkeep them and oversee the leasing and selling of property. They shall have authority over their office, to recruit and delegate work to their Stewards and Quartermasters, thus ensuring not only the proper distribution of the properties to the citizens of Minitz, but also the enforcing of laws and regulations related to property.

The Ehrensache of the Herrenmeister shall be Der Goldene Streitkolben (Common: The Golden Mace), a testament of his authority over the law enforcement of the realm, a figure of justice and fairness.

THE DUCAL HERALD

Appointed directly from the Herzog, the Herald acts as a symbolic figure of Minitz. Their main duty is to represent the Herzog, and in extension all of Minitz. They are the very personification of the Duchy, and act as the most trusted carrier of the Herzog’s word in both diplomatic and internal matters. As such, they are expected to hold themselves with utmost dignity, they do not bow or nod to any figure of lower rank than the Herzog themselves. As Herzog’s attendant, they are expected to stand by their side, and, in cases of the Herzog’s entrance, they are to blow their Herald’s Trumpet, announcing the Herzog’s presence through declaration. 

As the acting voice of the Herzog, the Herald’s work also lies on keeping the citizenry of Minitz informed on important matters. They announce edicts, orders, and otherwise any important announcement presented by the Herzog or his Herrenhaus. As such, it is under their office that both diplomats and town criers work, though none of them would be able to hold prestige close enough to that of the Herald themselves. Generally, the Herald is chosen by the Herzog’s most trusted individuals and advisors, those who are able to uphold their manners and posture in a fashion that brings honor to Minitz, the motherland that they represent.

The Ehrensache of the Herrenmeister shall be Die Schwarze Trompete (Common: The Black Trumpet), a testament of his authority over diplomacy and his prestige as the personification of Minitz

THE LANDTAG

An integral part of the Herzograt, the Landtag is the main legislative body of the realm. Composed of all Reinmaren tribesmen of Minitz, the members of the Landtag act as the second most important council of the Herzog after the Herrenhaus. It is this body of the Herzograt that attends and votes during the processes of the Moots of Minitz.

The Moots themselves are held at least once every two years, led by either the Lawspeaker or Herzog, and in cases of emergency other members of the Herrenhaus may act as its hosts. During such, amendments, removals or additions from the law of the Kanun are proposed from the appropriate positions within the Landtag, and thereafter voted by the entirety of the Sitzendes. Furthermore, Moots can be held in cases of emergency or other important matters brought forth from the Lawspeaker or the Herzog.

All members of the Landtag shall be required to present themselves in front of the Moots adorning their traditional Reinmaren clothing or their armor. The most important element of this attire shall be the adorning of their appropriate Reinmaren caps depending on their Rank, so that they may showcase their standing.

The following are the positions and ranks within the Landtag of minitz, alongside their duties and requirements:

THE SEATED:

The majority of the Landtag is composed of the tribesmen of Minitz, who hold the title of the Sitzende, or “the Seated”. Those who wish to sit the elective seats of the Moot must:

• Be oathed as a Reinmaren tribesman of the realm.

• Be at least fourteen years of age

• NOT be pending punishment from the Bailiff, or having been deemed an Excluded or a Joshqiptar. Those Sitzende who fall in this category shall be suspended from their seat until their punishment is delivered or completed.

Whilst the Seated do not hold the authority to propose amendments to the Kanun lik the Lawmen, they do hold ONE vote in all matters relating elections and further voting of the proposed amendments to the Kanun.

THE SCRIBES:

Held by only one or two members of the Landtag the Schreiber, or “the Scribe” act as recordkeepers of the Moots. They stand near the Lawspeaker, and keep note of all the laws passed and the names of those tribesmen who have voted. This position is delegated directly from the Lawspeaker or Herzog.

THE BÜRGERMEISTER:
The Mayor of Neu Brandthof shall hold an elevated seat within the Landtag, and, as representative of the Burghers of the realm, shall hold an additional vote to his own in matters of law.

THE LAWMEN:

Yet another elected position within the Landtag, the Gesetzmann, or the Lawman is responsible and privileged to amendments to the Kanun, whilst still holding ONE single vote during voting for legislation.

Any member of the Seated may nominate themselves for the position by announcing so to the Lawspeaker, and elections are held every four years to elect TWO Lawmen. At the beginning of the fourth year, the nominations for the next duo begin, and any amongst the Seated may run for such, and campaign for their position. The elections are then opened at the beginning of the fifth year, and those elected then join the next Moot as the new Lawmen, to begin proposing laws and edicts.

THE CHIEFTAINS:

Similarly to the Lawmen, the Chieftains of the Minitzian tribes do enjoy the right to propose legislation to the Landtag, acting as the representatives of their respective tribes. They hold this power for as long as they remain Chieftains of their tribe. Unlike the Lawmen, the Chieftains may send representatives from their tribes to both hold the Chieftain’s vote alongside their own, and propose law similarly to the Chieftain.

THE LAWSPEAKER:

The Lawspeaker acts as the main host of the Moots and the coordinator of the Landtag. During Moots, they are able to propose their own laws and edicts, delegate work or ask for the Landtag to review the law of the Kanun, or bring forth problems for the Lawmen and Chieftains to work towards. During the Moots, the Lawspeaker also holds a single vote during elections or legislative votings.

THE OFFICE OF THE MAYOR

Acting as an office separate from both the Herrenhaus and Landtag, the Office of the Mayor, or as named in Waldenian, Der Bürgermeister, shall be in charge of both representing and overseeing the needs of the Burgher population of the realm. Differently from the Reinmaren tribesmen of Minitz, the Burghers who call Minitz home are not able to be part of the Landtag, and thus partake in the processes of the Moot. Their Mayor, however, offers them some representation, and, alongside his own vote within the Landtag, shall also hold a second vote for the Burgers of the realm.

The Mayor’s office also oversees other positions which are under the authority of the Herzograt, but do not fall under any specific office of the Herrenhaus. These include:

• The Tavern and the Tavernkeepers

• The Clinic and the Physicians

• The Stables and the Stablemaster

• The Brewery and the Brewerers

• And any such positions.

As such, authority is given to the Mayor over the petty, yet essential positions of the realm, overseeing that necessary goods are produced, etc.

As representative of the Burgher populace of the realm, the Mayor is elected from them. Such are the requirements for someone to run for the office:

• They are an oathed Reinmaren tribesman of Miniz.

• They are at least sixteen years of age.

• They are not be a member of the Herrenhaus.

• They are not pending punishment from the Bailiff’s office, or have been deemed an Excluded or a Joshqiptar, as per the Kanun.

The elections of the Mayor are overseen directly by the Lord Bailiff, who ensures that all the voters are of the Burgher class of Minitz, that the voting is done properly, that if so needed, the candidates are able to hold campaigns, etc. Upon election, the Mayor serves a term of four years, by the end of which they may run for the position once more.

Years have passed since the Ducal work began, a work so great even the struggles of war I have seen cannot compare. A work so tiring, a work sleepless nights requiring. Yet, the struggle has paid off, and the beginning of the construction of Neu Brandthof comes close, for the great architects of our realm have worked day and night, preparing the necessities.

My own work, that of the Herzog, has lied in the writing of papers, on the preparation of paramount official documents, the ink of which shall dictate the organization and future of our realm. 

It is with joy thus that I wish to invite all Sons and Daughters of Minitz, tribesmen and those unoathed who the buildings of Minitz call home, to attend the FINAL Ducal Court that shall be held within the city of Brandthof.

The processes that we shall undergo will be twofold.

THE OATH OF MACKEN

The Oath of Macken shall finally be conducted in Minitz, where Herzog Leon shall undergo the oath of the Chief of the Reinmaren, to don the cultural title of our people. The oath shall be held in the same procedures of old within the Moot Hall of Branthof

DUCAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Upon the conclusion of the historical Oath of Macken, the Ducal court of Minitz shall be summoned within the walls of the castle of Neu Brandthof. Many important announcements shall be made, and official documents published for all of the realm to witness, so that they may all know the ways of government and laws of their motherland.

Furthermore, positions of high ranking within the Duke’s government shall be delegated and appointments will be made, so that the Sons and Daughters of Minitz may serve her through positions of state.

Since our exodus from our home and the denial to provide promised town plans by the now False-King Frederick, us Reinmaren and Waldenians of Minitz have long gone without proper home nor organization. With the end of the Rebellion and the subsequent victory of the Harvest Lords, the Reinmaren go without home no more!

In the lands of old Rivia they settled, and on those lands they’d form their home. After having made changes to the old lands of House Galbraith, the Count does now decree the formal creations of positions, ranks and duties within the Minitzan society.

Furthermore, following the recognition and elevation bestowed by the High Pontiff, Tylos III towards the sovereign titles and lands of Minitz as a County, does Count Leon Barclay find it pleasing for the titles of the realm to be transitioned into Waldenian. Thus further embracing the usage of both the Waldenian language and titles of Waldenian origins, is the following declared:

That the COUNTY OF MINITZ thus becomes DIE GRAFSCHAFT MINITZ, and the COUNT OF MINITZ be styled as DER GRAF MINITZ
 

DAS GRAFENRAT

Das Grafenrat (Waldenian: The Comital Council) is composed of the Graf of Minitz and his six most trusted and hard working advisors, each holding different responsibilities, privileges, and tasks to ensure the Grafschaft’s prosperity. They are assigned the “Seine/Ihre Wohlgeboren” honorific prefix, literally translating from Waldenian as “His/Her Well-born”. The official positions and hierarchies branching from the Graf Minitz proceed as follows:

LAWSPEAKER’S DIET

Der Gesetzessprecher
Holding a similar status to the Bailiff, the Lawspeaker is one of the most influential positions in the Grafschaft. They’re tasked with upholding the Minitzian lawcode - the Kanun -, levy out punishment to criminals arrested by the Warband and upkeep justice in the Grafschaft. The Lawspeaker also hires Law-writers to help him in his tasks, as well as an excecutioner.
 

The Ritter / Lawhandlers
In order to assist the Lawspeaker with the vast task of upholding the law of the Kanun within the Minitzian realm, the Ritter are given authority to levy some punishment and judgement upon the breaking of the law. They are the only individuals aside from the Lawspeaker yielding such power and responsibility, and are thus taught in the ways of the Kanun during their training as squires. Whilst most of the more capital cases fall under the direct discretion of the Lawspeaker, the Ritter usually tend to deliver judgment or minor or middling offenses and disputes.

The Law-writers
The Minitzian Kanun is a large book, with interpretations of its text varying between individuals. The Law-writer’s job is to help the Lawspeaker to interpret this text in regards to the unfolding situation at the time. They also help write legislation and expand the Kanun itself.
 

The Executioner
The Executioner is responsible for sending those who have committed crimes and found guilty to the Seven Skies. Usually in the most painless way possible.

 

GENTRY OF MINITZ

Der Herrenmeister

and The Order of Martyr-Saint Nicholas and Saint Tylos the Stallion of Reinmar
The Master of the Knights, is the most senior commander among the OMSNSTSR. The  Ritter are the small, yet elite force serving directly and only under the Graf. They act as their personal bodyguard protecting and guarding them wherever they go. The Ritter also traverse around the continent and Waldenian realms, seeking to assist their kin and those in need. The road to a Ritter is a hard one, and one must first get one to take you in as a squire, training you in the ways of the Vander Code and Reinmaren culture. Additionally, during their service with the lands of Minitz, the Ritter act as upkeepers of the Kanun, the Minitzian Law, doing so under the supervision and guidance of the Lawspeaker.

The Gentry of Merit
Being an Honorary Position, the Gentry of Merit is granted to those who have proved their loyalty to Minitz and the Graf. They’re the hardest of workers, embodying the Reinmaren ways. The Merit is granted directly by the Graf and is considered a great honor.
 

THEODERIC’S WARBAND

Theoderic’s warband are the protectors and warriors of Minitz, forming the more tribal aspect of the Grafschaft’s society. Led by their Chieftains and Warchiefs, the Warband is responsible for patrolling the land of Minitz, arresting criminals and rallying for whenever necessary. It is also typical for a close band of Brothers from the Warband to form their own tribe - much similar to nobility in other realms - and promoting one of them to the rank of Warchief.

OFFICE OF THE BAILIFF

Der Vogt von Brandthof
The Bailiff of Brandthof is one of the most influential figures in Minitz. They are responsible for the management of the town of Brandthof, its populace, taxation and infrastructure. Under them work a vast array of people in different positions to ensure that the Grafschaft’s economy and population keep healthy and grow. The Bailiff is directly chosen by the Graf and wields absolute authority in matters of finance and taxation. 
 

The Stewards

Working to make sure the properties of Minitz are sold at their earliest inconvenience, Stewards are one of the most populous and easiest positions to acquire. They’re appointed by the Bailiff, and in addition to selling property make sure that they’re properly upkept and taxed, evicting them if necessary.

The Delegators
Delegators are assigned along with the Town Alija to assist newcomers to Minitz and make sure they find themselves a stable home, work and company. Delegators are typically also working as Stewards.
 

The Quartermasters

Working closely with the Bailiff, the Quartermaster is tasked with making sure the Grafschaft’s equipment - both in regards to food, weaponry and materiel are always stacked to the prim. If such is not the case, together with the Bailiff they will work to accommodate for such and make the coffers and storage of the Grafschaft healthy.
 

The Town Criers

It is the Town Crier’s job to relay news of edicts and missives. They deliver news or information directly to the citizens of Brandthof, usually via publications at the square or the nailing the missives at their doors.
 

The Tavern Master

Managing the tavern in the name of the Graf, the Tavern master is responsible for hiring Taverners and making sure that liquid and food and service are always available in the Tavern of Brandthof. The Master is often expected to regularly hold reverlies in the tavern, brightening the common folk’s day.
 

OFFICE OF THE HERALD

Der Gesandte

Put in charge of all matters diplomatic and foreign relations, the Herald, is assigned directly by the Graf. They overlook the work of the diplomats under their office, and deal with paramount matters of foreign relations. The Herald may also act as the Graf’s representative in such occasions and in meetings outside of the Grafschaft, such as meetings amongst the Harvest Lords
 

Diplomats

Assigned such positions by the Graf and the Herald, the diplomats assist the latter in dealing with matters of foreign relations. Usually, a diplomat is assigned to work as an ambassador of Minitz in a specific realm, though this is not a necessity. They work closely with the Herald in order to ensure the prosperity of Minitz when it comes to dealings with other realms.

THE COMITAL COURT

Der Hofmeister

The Court Master leads the Vicommital Court of Minitz and is chosen for his position solely by the Graf himself. The duties and responsibilities of the Hofmeister vary widely depending on the Graf’s wishes at the time, but most usually they are tasked with upkeeping the Comital castle and making sure that the Court is always stacked with ambitious folk in the Graf’s service. The Hofmeister also possesses the authority to command the rest of the Court on ways of procedure, tasks and occupance.

Master of the Hunt

The best Huntsman in the entire Grafschaft, the Master of the Hunt leads hunting patrols and advises the Graf on all matters relating to their craft. It is traditional for the Master to be granted a smaller residence outside of the Town of Brandthof to practice their art properly. When a new Master of the Hunt is chosen, those desiring the position are usually brought before the Graf with a gift - that being their largest prey thus far, to demonstrate their capability for the position.

Historian

Historians are tasked with keeping and writing the records of both Waldenian and Reinmaren history - including that of the Grafschaft itself.
 

Bard

The Musicians of the Courts, bards are tasked with playing their joyful tunes whenever able to, bringing light to the normal days of hard Reinmaren work. 
 

Pages

Serving directly under the Graf, pages are usually children who have been asked to be taken under the Graf’s tutorage. Pages accompany the Graf on a day-to-day basis, carrying equipment, preparing foods and writing being among their most common tasks, but which of course vary depending on the day and situation. Once a page comes of age, they are typically chosen for another court position to serve as

Falconer

Taking care of both the Falcon’s of the Grafschaft and the still remaining yet dwindling population of Waldenian Walruses, the Comital Falconer advices the Graf on all matters relating to these noble birds, or any their king, such as the Reinmaren eagle

Town Alija

Hundreds of years ago, a man named Chief Alija grew an entire Reinmaren village on his own - teaching newcomers of their ways and traditions. In honor of him, the Town Alija of Minitz is responsible for helping newcomers get situated and teach them about the ways of the Reinmaren. They also assist those willing to adopt these ways on completing their Trials of the Stallions, and generally acts as a welcoming figure for new residents.
