The citizens of the Empire and its allies are hereby invited to attend an evening of investiture and presentation in honour of Her Ladyship, Caerine Mareno, who shall formally assume her place as Duchess of Myrine before her peers, allies and the Imperial Court alike. 

What begins as a solemn recognition of duty shall, in equal measure, serve as a debut into noble society following years of study and refinement abroad and within the Imperial lands of Azuras. Beneath blue and white banners, guests shall gather for an evening of courtly celebration, music and dancing as Myrine welcomes not only a new Duchess, but a young lady stepping into her station with grace, dignity and promise for the years to come.

I. MYRNISH INVESTITURE

THE EVENING SHALL COMMENCE WITH THE FORMAL INVESTITURE OF CAERINE MARENO, marking the official transfer of stewardship and authority over the Duchy of Myrine. Presiding over the ceremony shall be Her Ladyship, Circe Mareno, who has faithfully served as Regent during this period of transition within the Duchy.

Before the assembled court and honored guests, Lady Circe shall formally bestow upon its heir the title and responsibilities of Duchess of Myrine, symbolizing the continuation of House Mareno’s legacy. Through this solemn and ceremonial rite, the young Duchess shall be presented not only as heir, but as the rightful lady of her people, stepping fully into the dignity and duty her station requires. Those in attendance who deem themselves a friend of the Duchess will be welcomed to speak up and share words of wisdom for her journey ahead.

II. DUCAL DEBUT

FOLLOWING THE CONCLUSION OF THE INVESTITURE CEREMONY, the evening shall transition into a grand celebration in honor of Duchess Caerine Mareno’s formal debut into Imperial society. Beneath glowing lanternlight and the banners of Myrine, guests shall be welcomed into an atmosphere of music, dancing, and lively courtly amusement befitting such a joyous occasion.

A selection of games and entertainments shall be held throughout the evening to encourage merriment among the gathered nobility, while the ballroom itself shall remain open for dancing well into the night. Friends, companions, and prospective suitors alike are warmly encouraged to join Her Grace upon the dance floor as she is formally welcomed into the social sphere of the Empire.

While gifts are by no means expected, any offerings presented to Her Grace shall be received with sincere gratitude and appreciation.

In the Year 284 of the Second Age, under witness of GOD, sword and scroll, let it be known and sealed that a solemn accord hath been struck between the Duchy of Myrine and the Glorious Principality of Blackvale.

The noble estate of Myrine shall henceforth be recognized in rank and dignity as Duchy, under the laws and customs of the Empire, by consent of its suzerain lord and acknowledgment by the Imperial Court.

For eighty-one years, I have carried the mantle of leadership over the House of Enswerp. Yet as I near my ninety-eighth year, I feel the gentle call to lay down this burden of rule—not in sorrow, but in peace. I wish now to spend the remainder of my days in rest, surrounded by the warmth of my family, the laughter of friends, and the quiet comforts long set aside in service to duty.

GOOD MEN AND WOMEN OF CASCANOVA, as in times past, the Crown of our Most Holy Imperium has decreed active participation of its people in the legislation of the Lex Imperialis. Through the promulgation of the Imperial Senate, our Emperor and his Privy Council have made it abundantly clear that they desire for the active engagement of you, the man or woman reading this, in the betterment of our Empire, in the betterment of our lives. And so, as one who has stood by Cascanova’s side ever since the treacheries of our esteemed and so dearly missed Lotharia, through our exodus and the olive branch extended by the benevolent late Emperor Hadrian I - hallowed be his name - I see it fit to put my name forward for candidacy.

MY PLANS ARE QUITE SIMPLE, and strive not only for the betterment of the farmer, the worker, of Cascanova - but the Imperium at large. For ease of reading, I shall separate these plans into Principles and Legislations, for I believe wholeheartedly that one is base for the other;

PRINCIPLES

• Principle of Duty, that it is my belief that every man and woman has a duty to the Empire, be it as a soldier, farmer, educator, entertainer, et cetera. Diligence in duty leads to rewards; recognition, compensation, promotion, et cetera.
• Principle of Faith, that it is my belief that every man and woman of the Empire has a duty to remain faithful and adhere to the decrees and dogmas of the Church of the True Faith, and that legislation should be made in respect and observation of faith, with no legislation ever trespassing the grounds of faith, and vice versa.
• Principle of Service, that it is my belief that every man and woman who has served their time to the Most Holy Imperium, has thus not only earned peace in their life, but that such peace should be guaranteed by the state - be it local, or national.

LEGISLATION

• Creation of a Veteran’s Pension for soldiers of the Conquest of Azuras that have since retired - either medically or by age. Be this pension monetary or material - such as property - in order to be eligible, an individual must adhere to a series of criteria, to be elaborated upon the proper creation of the bill.
• The accessibility of education - both intellectual and spiritual - to the rural areas of our Empire. The knowledge in intellect and faith of our Empire is unmatched throughout history, and it is the duty of the legislation to guarantee that any who wish, have access to it, should they strive to learn.
• Proliferation, professionalization and popularization of the Imperial Immigration system and internal processes surrounding the massive number of Human and Non-Human refugees into our Most Holy Imperium. With the conquest of Urguan, dissolution of the Horde and absorption of Elven states, it is my belief that the Imperial Immigration system should work hand-in-hand with the Imperial Census’ enumerators and assure the proper localization of these individuals.
• Creation and installation of the Centre of Imperial Culture, a location dedicated to the many cultures of our Imperium and celebration of them, for educational and leisure purposes, where - for instance - a woman and her son can go to in order to learn more about the many peoples of our Empire, in fun and intuitive ways.
• Cataloguing and naming all of the roads of the Imperium - which now spans the known world - basing the names of Emperors past and present, Imperial heroes, Dragon-blooded ancestors, et cetera. Such an endeavour would be a joint effort of the Imperial Senate with the National Geographical Society [NGS].

IT IS MY INTENTION that, though most of my plans pertain to the Empire at large, the people of Cascanova see the wisdom and benefits of their fruition, given our close proximity to the Imperial Crownlands. Cascanova stands at the precipice of opportunity; it has the opportunity to be a cultural, economical and mercantile center - and it is with your vote of confidence, that I vow to bring these opportunities to fruition, hand in hand with the Imperial Senate and our Baroness.

The O’Redmond clan arrived from the isles, rambunctious children attached at their hips and piling into a tent not meant for nearly as many people. Freshly caught fish is strung outside, an attempt at forgoing any smells, and the children screech and play. The home they once had is no more, gone to famine and illness. The lands of Azuras are new, shiny, and full of promise. The clan will get on, by hook or by crook, they are O’Redmonds afterall.

Known for their height, men and women alike of the O’Redmond clan stand tall. Brunette locks pile atop their head, paired commonly with hazel eyes. Practicality is in what they wear, assuring an ease of movement while adding beauty in strategic spots. A brooch, a ribbon, pops of color to catch the eye.

VALUES AND TRADITIONS

The O’Redmond Clan is a large one, filled with spirited members and the occasional fiery temper. Family is not forgotten, the importance of such placed heavily, down to the fifth cousin. To gain and to lose family is an ordeal, past that of the wedding and the funeral. Hospitality, too, is one of their values. To treat those in need as a friend, though should their hospitality be abused is when that temper is seen. By hook or by crook, the tenacity of the O’Redmond clan is a beaut in itself, not knowing the meaning of giving up.

THE CRADLE

Even a babe needs a bit of luck and well-wishing. Red ribbons are tied about their cradle to ward off the Fae, ferrum and aurum charms dangling from the ends.

Their baptism gives them their first mina, coin meant to wish future wealth and prosperity upon the child.

AGE OF REASON

The age of reason is traditionally between the ages of seven to nine. A time when the child is believed to be able to discern right from wrong. A celebration takes place sometime during this point, a test too for the child, in which they are given choices and tasks that the clan sets out. To aid an elderly woman or to deliver a gift are a couple examples of what they may be asked. Passing brings on the true celebration, a party for all to enjoy.

COMING OF AGE

The coming of age for those of the clan is an affair which lasts a year and a day. Given a day’s worth of food, they leave home with the clothes on their back, and must travel for a year. They impose on hospitality, make new friends and take in new sights. A trial period of being an adult, to see life outside of the clan and the community. The leftover day is for the celebration upon their return, a celebration of their new friends and memories, where they all feast.

The household boasts a love of the arts, many having studied to be an Ollamh, a master of dance, poetry, and music. Even those who decide to take a different path would be proficient in the one of the arts, giving them an added means of providing for themselves and the clan.

I. THE BESTOWAL OF FAMILIAL GIFTS

THE EVENING WILL BEGIN WITH A CULTURAL TRADITION THAT BEGAN WITH THE BALIANESE. The Baroness of Solvis will present herself to her family and receive two gifts: the Regal de Protecció, and her Votive Sash. The first is a dagger, gifted as a reminder of the strength and resolve the Lady has garnered from her youth and will carry with her into adulthood. The second, the sash, is designed with the colors of the Lady’s Baronial House and decorated with brooches and embroidery to symbolize the tapestry of her life.

II. AN EVENING OF SPRINGTIME MERRIMENT

IN LIEU OF THE LADY BASILEUS HAVING GROWN AND NOW BEGINNING TO BLOOM AS A WOMAN OF HER OWN, ALL GUESTS ARE INVITED TO AN EVENING IN THE GARDENS OF BRECCI. Several stations of activities will be available, the first of which will be lantern decorating; they will all be released at the end of the night, and carry the wishes of whomever releases it. Additionally, paper boat racing will be available in the pool in front of the Brecci keep, the winner of which will receive a prize of 50 mina. Lastly, a scavenger hunt will take place throughout the night. Hidden in Cascanova’s city will be three amethyst brooches which may be found by guests at any time. Each brooch turned in will result in a prize of 100 mina, though guests are asked not to continue their search after finding one.

By the grace of GOD and the steadfast care of her household, the good Countess, Lady Casilde, has recovered well from her labours and now stands in renewed health, having made a swift and heartening recovery in the two years since the child’s arrival.

All friends, kin, and allies of House Senna who receive this notice are hereby informed that the young heir has been baptized in a private rite, held in witness of close family within the Seneschal’s Chapel of the Rathaus in our Imperial City of Rittersburg. The sacred ceremony was conducted by our good father, Archchancellor Ledicort, where, in reverence and unity, the child was commended to the protection of GOD and formally welcomed into the faith and the lineage of House Senna.

In this same rite, the babe took his name, bearing that of his grandsire, whose sun-kissed skin and flame-touched tresses he already mirrors.

With resolute sense, and in understanding the advantages of strengthened kinship to increase amity between the liege-realm of Dover, Alba, and Duchy of Valwyck, it is deemed well, noble and advantageous that the said Lord DUNCAN, the younger, and Lady CONSTANTINA be joined in lawful matrimony. With confirmation of the agreement and assurances of their holy promises, the union of marriage is guaranteed with, and blessed by, with the full consent of both the Earl of Dover and Duke of Valwyck.

OF THE CAUSE OF THE UNION

The said Lord DUNCAN, heir to the distinction of Duke of Valwyck, beareth the steadfastness and iron-forged courage for which the BARUCH family is so well known. His bearing reflects the strength of his lineage, and marks him as a worthy lord-husband to receive so rare and radiant a bride.

The Lady CONSTANTINA, eldest daughter of the venerable house of ALDERSBERG, doth bring to this union steadiness of mind and noble reserve befitting her birth and upbringing. Though she shall come to rule over a people whose customs differ from her own, she shall provide the good governance required and surely prove her worth as the greatest among the Valwyck consorts.

Thus, by the merit of their well-born persons, this union is adjudged as just, good and worthy of divine favour.

It is agreed by both Dover and Valwyck that the said Lord DUNCAN and Lady CONSTANTINA shall enter into immediate betrothal, as has already been agreed, which shall continue unbroken until they should be bound together in union under the rites of the Holy Mother Church. Once the union confirmed, both families pledge themselves to selflessness, goodwill, and promotion of amity betwixt their two realms. 

Let affection and respect grow between the promised, soon to be wed, so that their union might become the foundations for deeper amity between the Alban Archduchy and Valwyckian Duchy. And hence both Dover and Valwyck pledge to uphold these agreements.

OF SOLEMNISATION OF MATRIMONY

The Earldom of Dover shall bestow upon Lady CONSTANTINA a dowry worthy of her station, the specifications to be decided at the discretion of the Earl and his first daughter.

The Ducal House of BARUCH, receiving her into their household, shall secure for her all the rights and honours due for a Lady of her placement, among them, providing for welfare and esteem. Furthermore, in recognition of the customs of the Valwyckians, let it be acknowledged…

1. Upon her marriage, Lady CONSTANTINA shall take the name BARUCH, as hath ever been ordained for those who, by marriage, take their place as consort within their house.
2. Once Lord DUNCAN, the younger, should, by providence, rise to ducal rule Lady CONSTANTINA shall be elevated to Duchess-Consort. Where, with the honour of standing beside her lord-husband as his consort, she shall be obliged to act as a participant of Valwyckian custom and a guardian of their culture and faith.
3. Further, these responsibilities shall not diminish Lady CONSTANTINA’s rights as a daughter of ALDERSBERG, nor sever the bond between her and her relatives in the Earldom of Dover.

The children born of the marriage shall, in recognition of regular tradition, bear the name of BARUCH, and by the customs of Alba, shall remain counted among those of ALDERSBERG blood, cousins of the family, thereby linking both families in kinship.

OF AMITY & AGREEMENTS

Let it be known that this marriage, and these agreements, though not themselves a treaty of friendship, shall stand as a conduit of goodwill between the Duchy of Valwyck and the liege realm of Dover, the Archduchy of Alba. Both Houses pledge to encourage peace, council, and honourable conduct between the two realms.

Disputes arising between their subjects, retainers or representatives shall be settled by amicable means, with deference to the customs and credences of both courts.

All goods, rights, or lands that might bear fruit through this union shall be given into shared possession for each of the descendants of the union. No child born of the pair shall be estranged without the mutual consent of the Earldom of Dover and the Duchy of Valwyck, lest contention divide what this union purports to unify.

OF THE VOWS

Whence the day appointed for the marriage shall arrive, the vows of Lord DUNCAN and Lady CONSTANTINA shall be exchanged under the blessing of the Holy Mother Church, all done in the presence of kinsmen, nobles, and witnesses of high esteem. And these agreements shall hence be solidified in their marital promise. Let their union be long, secure and bear many fruits.

Thus do the Houses of BARUCH and ALDERSBERG declare that this union, formed in peace and upheld by honour, to be confirmed and bound. Let no deceit or malice tear it asunder; rather let it stand as a bond of fellowship and may it strengthen not only their families but the peace of all the realms of Man.

Once Lord SIEGFRIED, by providence, rises to princely rule Lady CLEMENTINE shall be held to the Consort’s Code, including the duties related to the Heather Court, the obligation to attend Moot, and the honour of presiding over certain rituals, as would be expected of a Princess-Consort of Reinmar.
3. Lady CLEMENTINE’s elevation to Princess-Consort shall not confer power to rule the Principality, but bring her the honour to stand beside its ruler as consort, a participant in Reinmaren custom, and a guardian of their culture.
